Honor killings are an embarrassment to humanity.

Fellow human beings are being assassinated in the most inhumane methods. Daughters and wives are being brutally tortured, stoned, and murdered by their own families, all in the name of "honor." This widespread epidemic of such atrocious acts fueled by fundamentalist thinking—dating back to pagan times—is inexcusable. Honor killings are often supported, overlooked, and undermined by authorities and persons of influence.

These murders are committed not just in Muslim countries but around the world, with alarmingly increasing rates on such continents as Europe and North America, which contain some of the most advanced countries of the 21st Century. It is a shame to all humanity that women (and some men) are subject to such barbaric crimes—threatened, tortured in agony, dying the most gruesome deaths.

The situation where a sexual predator can flick a switch and imprison a lone female in their PCO/TfL licensed minicab with blacked out windows, has got to come to an end. It’s as simple as that.

Many years ago, it was deemed unfitting for London’s licensed black cabs (Taxis) to have dark glass in the rear window. Reports of prostitutes using Taxis to service their clients “ twice round the outer circle, slowly driver” had been wildly exaggerated in the press, but the powers to be thought it enough reason to ban darken rear windows fitted in London's Taxis.

Over the past six years, we have seen the rise in use of PHV people carriers with black glass on rear and side windows. In the same period of time, there has been a shocking rise in the numbers of sexual assaults, including rapes, which is now running at 8-10 a month, (this is just the victims that report the crime, it is thought to be a much higher figure and its not just women that are being sexually attacked). Passengers have also been the victims of personal robberies, mainly women, have reported having phones, handbag's and other property taken whilst being held prisoner in these blacked out vehicles.

We have concerns that it is “unethical” that Private Hire Vehicles (Mini Cabs) have blacked out windows in the rear and side windows of their vehicles. Combined this with central locking, an attacker just flicks a switch and imprisons a lone female. No one is aware of this passenger’s dangerous predicament.

The responsibility of the Public Carriage Office should have been not to allow "Blacked out Windows" in Private Hire Vehicles in the first instance. However, lack of insight has and will continue to be detrimental to the travelling public, especially women late at night. Cost should not be an issue as in most cases these black windows are just a sheet of film applied to the vehicles glass

In Ireland we as parents are legally not able to view our sex offenders register. We as parents have the right to protect our children.

In the last year at least under 10 pedophiles and rapists have been released into communitys all over Ireland and the residents are not informed.Why is it these animals are getting protected yet their victims are forgotten. Recently 1 rapist/ paedophile in particular was granted an injunction by the high courts to able him to hide his identity from residents.

I ASK WHY IS HE ABLE TO DO THIS AFTER WHAT HE'S DONE? we need to send the message IF YOU DO THESE CRIMES YOU LOSE YOUR RIGHT TO PRIVACY AND FREEDOM.

In a letter Tom McNally at the Ministry of Justice has confirmed:

"Having considered the arguments the Government has concluded that it does not see a compelling case for anonymity for those accused of rape beyond the point of charge ... The Government will not announce its detailed plans until the autumn but whatever we do it will be without recourse to legislation."

An Early Day Motion was tabled yesterday as follows:

"That this House believes that the Government's proposal to grant anonymity to defendants in rape cases sends a message to juries and rape victims that the victim is not to be believed; fears that this could inhibit the effective prosecution of serial rapists; is further concerned that this will reverse the progress made on the prosecution of rape cases noted in the independent Stern Review; is further concerned that the Government has put forward the proposal without any research, evidence or examination of these issues; and calls on the Government to withdraw its proposal."

On 20th May 2010, the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition announced their intention to extend anonymity in rape cases to defendants.

Currently only rape complainants are granted anonymity. In a system of open justice anonymity should only be granted when there are compelling reasons to do so.

The primary purpose of complainant anonymity is to encourage victims to come forward and report rape, a severely under-reported crime (Home Office research estimates that 85% of rapes go unreported).

No such argument applies to rape defendants, who are treated in the same way as those accused of other crimes.

Kenneth Robert Klassen, divorced father of 3, of Burnaby who videotaped himself sexually assaulting girls between the ages of 9 and 18 years young.

On Aug. 27, 2004, Canada Border Service Agency officers at YVR identified a suspicious parcel full of undeclared DVDs containing images of child pornography and bestiality.

The police seized in Klassen's home and a rented Vancouver storage locker 21 DVDs containing video clips of Klassen having sex with 92 girls in three countries. Police allege the DVDs contained images of Klassen sexually assaulting girls ranging in age from 9 to 18 years old. Read more here: Vancouver Sun Article

UPDATES: Friday May 21st:

Klassen pleaded GUILTY to 14 out of 30 plus charges. He thenn allegedly traveled to Mayne Island with his brother. He is deemed high risk to flee. We wonder if his bail supervisor was informed. Klassen owns property in New Mexico, Colombia (2 houses) and one undisclosed property in the Philippines.

Thursday, May 27th:
Mr. Klassen's bail has been granted. It was essentially granted before the hearing this morning. They are having another hearing this upcoming Tuesday.

Tuesday, June 1st, 9am:
The part two of the bail hearing - where they discuss how Mr. Klassen will be monitored and his terms. Amongst a list of appropriate conditions, one is a curfew of 6pm-6am. Sentencing hearing will be July 22-23.

Far too often, cases of violence against women and children are not taken seriously despite efforts by some members of the global community. An example of this is the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child. The Convention on the Rights of the Child is a universal agreement of non-negotiable standards and obligations. CHILD RAPE TRIAL

According to the indictment, the 12-year-old N.C., one of the seven children of a poor family, was sold to many men in the southeastern province of Kiziltepe by two women: Turkan Temel and Emine Akyol. It is alleged that tens of men (26-28, that is revealed) raped the child time after time on village roads, empty villages, public buildings, workplaces and cars.

A deputy elementary school principal, a top official from the district head's office, a head man of the village, and a businessman are among the 28 defendants who are now standing trial for raping N.C.

The trial is about to be prescribed according to Turkish juridical laws after 7.5 years time of trial period.

Please do not let these pedophiles get away with this sickening rape abuse action, by signing this petition. Otherwise, the trial will be prescribed in a few months...

For the past fifteen years there has been a RAPID increase in murder, rape and all other incredibly savage acts and crime in general. South Africa is currently NUMBER ONE on in the world for murder, rape and all crime and therefore earned the name "CRIME CAPITAL OF THE WORLD".

More then THREE THOUSAND FARMERS have been murdered since 1994 and nearly more then 50 South Africans are murdered PER DAY! A BIG portion of that are CHILDREN that were RAPED TO DEATH!

These SAVAGES are seldom caught and only a few gets captured and convicted. Most of these murderers actually prefer being in jail. They receive clean beds, three meals and free education if they so desire.

This becomes another burden on the taxpayer. With other words the law-abiding citizens of South Africa actually are then the ones getting punished for the murderer 's heinous acts! More then 600 South Africans have actually successfully gained refugee status in other countries! HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS South Africans have already fled the country in fear of their lives! This resulted in the ultimate "Brain Drain" of the country.

Instead of keeping the LAW-ABIDING, EDUCATED citizens of South Africa IN the country, the Lack of the South African Government's involvement and lack of proper punishment has secured South Africa 's first place as a MURDER/RAPE/CRIME - CAPITAL IN THE WORLD!

I am of the strong opinion that Capital Punishment for murder should be reintroduced to South Africa! Amnesty International states that the Death Penalty 'violates the right of the life as proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.' The question - What about the lives and rights of the victims? Were they not entitled to the Right of Life and Prohibition of Torture?

The person that takes the life savagely of another should no longer benefit from the protections afforded under any legislation. The failure of the government to actually ensure the citizens of South Africa a safer country is no longer expectable.

There has been recently yet another move to try make women responsible for rape. The BBC aired a debate recently where several (male) presenters discussed whether a woman should takes responsibility in 'certain circumstances' for a man raping her. They even debated whether there comes a point when it it is too late for a woman to say no.

It is never too late for a woman (or a man) to say no. A woman is never responsible for rape. It is insulting to men and dangerous to women to suggest that men are not able to control themselves and worse, that they can absolve themselves of responsibility if they don't.

1 in 4 women are still raped in the UK. Think of 4 women you care about and decide which of them you want it to be?

A woman should be able to dress how she wants, to behave as she likes and to still be able to change her mind.

Young men must not be raised in a society where it acceptable to rape a woman if she 'leads you on'. This is blatant abuse of the entire female population. The trial and conviction rates are criminally low, mainly due to exactly this attitude and the sentence for rape is outrageously short.

Men CAN control themselves and women are NEVER to blame, if she says NO, then it IS RAPE!

Children under 18 are allowed to roam the streets at all hours of the night. This promotes gang membership, theft, drug use and homelessness.

A curfew should be set in place to protect both the child and the community. Anne Arundel county has had a lot of break ins and theft during early am hours that can be traced to teens under 18.

A loophole in the law allows for Registered Sex Offenders to volunteer in your child's class if he/she has a child enrolled in the classroom without you or staff from ever knowing and in another loophole a Registered Sex Offender's backyard can line up to a schools playground leaving your child at undue risk.

CHILD ABUSE: Each week, child protective services (CPS) agencies throughout the United States receive more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In 2002, 2.6 million reports concerning the welfare of approximately 4.5 million children were made.

In approximately two-thirds (67 percent) of these cases, the information provided in the report was sufficient to prompt an assessment or investigation. As a result of these investigations, approximately 896,000 children were found to have been victims of abuse or neglect—an average of more than 2,450 children per day.
More than half (60 percent) of victims experienced neglect, meaning a caretaker failed to provide for the child's basic needs. Fewer victims experienced physical abuse (nearly 20 percent) or sexual abuse (10 percent), though these cases are typically more likely to be publicized. An average of nearly four children die every day as a result of child abuse or neglect (1,400 in 2002). Children of all ages experience abuse and neglect, but the youngest children are most vulnerable. Children younger than 1 year old accounted for 41 percent of all abuse-related deaths reported in 2002; three-quarters (76 percent) of those killed were younger than 4.

RAPE: Every two minutes, somewhere in America, someone is sexually assaulted. Rape is a serious problem in the United States today. The United States has the highest rape rate among countries which report such statistics. It is 4 times higher than that of Germany, 13 times higher than that of England and 20 times higher than that of Japan. 7.6 % of women in the United States have survived a completed or attempted rape. Of these, 21.6% were younger than age 12 when they were first raped, and 32.4% were between the ages of 12 and 17. (Full Report of the Prevalence, Incidence, and Consequences of Violence Against Women, Findings from the National Violence Against Women Survey, November, 2000) The FBI estimates that only 37% of all rapes are reported to the police. U.S. Justice Department statistics are even lower, with only 26% of all rapes or attempted rapes being reported to law enforcement officials. The National College Women Sexual Victimization Study estimated that between 1 in 4 and 1 in 5 college women experience completed or attempted rape during their college years (Fisher 2000). One out of every six American women have been the victims of an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.

Murder: Crime in the United States is characterized by relatively high levels of gun violence and homicide, compared to other developed countries.In 2005, 24% of the incidents of violent crime, a weapon was present.

Offenders had or used a weapon in 48% of all robberies, compared with 22% of all aggravated assaults and 7% of all rapes/sexual assaults in 2005.

Homicides are most often committed with guns, especially handguns. In 2005, 55% of homicides were committed with handguns, 16% with other guns, 14% with knives, 5% with blunt objects, and 11% with other weapons. # Per every 1,000 persons in that racial group, 32 blacks, 23 whites and 18 persons of other races sustained a violent crime.

Within 3 years of being released 67% of the ex-prisoners are rearrested and 52% are actually re-incarcerated.

In 1995 the government allocated 5.1 billion dollars for new prison space. Every $100 million spend in construction will cost $1.6 billion in finance and operational costs over the next 3 decades.[12] Taxpayers spend $60 billion a year for prisons.

Ever since abortion has been legal (also known as termination) it has been popular. countries have adapted to this trend and sadly, alot of people do it. The cost for an abortion is $AUS600.

Here are some facts: It was estimated at 89 521 in 1993–94 in Australia. of course, the numbers would be bigger in US and Britian. Before 2000, 60 949 happened in Australia. If a girl under 18 is pregnaunt, the doctors may pressure to have an abortion and so does parents and friends.

The definition of MURDER is the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another, and manslaughter is the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder.

Abortion seems to be legal because because a baby is only human when it is born. so do you have to see it to be human?

"The atrocities perpetrated by armed groups are of an unimaginable brutality that goes far beyond rape. They aim at the complete physical and psychological destruction of women. They are brutally gang raped, often in front of their families and communities. In numerous cases, male relatives are forced at gun point to rape their own daughters, mothers or sisters. Frequently women are shot or stabbed in their genital organs after they are raped," informs author Eve Ensler.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DROC) is the unfortunate country which houses the brutality described by Eve in the previous paragraph. For about a decade now the DROC has been involved in a civil war in which rape and violence against women has become the newest weapon and war tactic. Sadly, the rape does not end with the women; there are thousands of cases of children being raped as well. Over the past decade it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of women and girls have been raped in the DROC.

The following is a true account of violence in the DROC against a family of civilians, “May fifteenth of this year four heavily armed combatants came to our house. I wanted to hide my children, but I didn’t have time. They went after my daughter, and I knew they would rape her. But she resisted and said she would rather die than have relations with them. They cut off her left breast and put it in her hand. She said, “Please kill me.” They took a knife and put it to her neck and then made a long vertical incision down her chest and split her body open. She was crying, but finally she died. She died with her breast in her hand.”

Besides being cast out from society, rape victims are often infected with HIV or fistula. Fistula is a series of tears between the vagina, bladder and rectum due to brutality during rape and renders it’s victim incontinent. It is a rare ailment in developed countries, but in the DROC it is a frequent happening. There are hundreds of thousands of rape victims who often get fistula as a result of their rape, but only two hospitals in eastern Congo equipped for fistula repair surgery.

The violence, the brutality, the stealing of innocence, the raping, it all needs to stop. With thousands of reported rapes a month, the Democratic Republic of the Congo cannot wait. The hundreds of thousands of victims suffering from complications due to rape cannot wait. The potential other millions of victims cannot wait. They need help, today. They need our government’s help, today. But most of all they need your help, they need your signature. Today.

This petition is to have stricter penalties for these predators, especially if it is their second offense.

According to prosecutors, a 20 year old mentally ill, African-American woman, by the name of Megan Williams, was allegedly kidnapped and held captive in a trailer in Logan County, West Virginia for over a week. There the police discovered Megan Williams with black eyes, stab wounds and missing hair.

Williams' told the police her captors forced her to consume dog and rat feces, drink her own urine as well as drink from a toilet. Criminal complaints also state that her captors told her she was being tormented for being black and called her "nigger" while assaulting her.

Her alleged captors are all white. They have been named as 49-year-old Frankie Brewster, her son, Bobby R. Brewster, 24, Karen Burton, 46, her daughter Alisha Burton, 23, George A. Messer, 27 and 20-year-old Danny J. Combs.

The FBI has been consulted as to whether or not to handle this as a hate crime.

Logan County prosecutors say they have not ruled out hate-crimes charges but are focusing on the counts already filed, including some such as kidnapping and sexual assault that have tougher maximum sentences. Federal prosecutors, meanwhile, STILL have not sought civil-rights charges.

The victim was charged by authorities in 3 local West Virginia counties on 11 misdemeanor counts of writing worthless checks, 1 misdemeanor of obtaining property under false pretenses, and 1felony count of failure to appear in Circuit Court? She was released on $8,000 bond afterwards.

3,000 Canadian troops are currently in Afghanistan slaughtering innocent people - a mere 100 are in Africa helping. That's right, that's for the entire Continent. WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR PEACE KEEPERS?

These people don't have protection, food, clean water, clothing, shelter or water. Right now as you read this thousands of people are STARVING to death, being SHOT or RAPED.

We NEED to come together and DO SOMETHING about these attrocities before it's too late.

In the beginning of 2003 a rebel group began attacking government targets. Why? They claimed the government was oppressing black Africans in favour of Arabs. Although the government admits mobilising " Self Defense Militias " after the rebel attacks, it denies having any connection to the Janjaweed, who are a militia drawn from Darfurian and Chadian Arab tribes that became known for massacre, rape and forced displacement in 2003-2004.

Many of the civilians from Darfur have been forced to flee for safety as the result of maniacal raids of the state-sponsored Arab militias and government helicopter gun ships. So far, 400,000 lives have been taken.

The Sudanese government has promised to disarm the Janjaweed, yet there is little evidence that this has been done.

As of late 2004, 1.2 million people had been displaced from their homes, 200,000 had fled to Chad, 405 villages had been destroyed ( 100 others significantly damaged ), and 50,000 people had been killed. All this in only one year.

The lives of the women, men and children in Darfur are in danger. Not only are they being killed by the Janjaweed, but they don't have enough food, water or medicine to survive. I'm not asking you to donate money, or even food or clothing. All I'm asking is that you take the time to sign this.

You may be thinking, " Why should I care? These people aren't related to me. They have never helped me in any way. " But the truth is, they ARE people. Like you and I, they don't want to suffer. They love, they breathe, they feel, just like us.

You have a choice right now, you can allow this to continue, or you can stand up for the victims of these attrocities in Darfur.

If enough people sign this petition, something will be done. Don't under estimate the power of one person.

The country of South Africa has gained the dubious distinction of becoming "the rape capital of the world". The savage rape and victimization of children is an everyday occurence.

Children as young as just a few months have been gang-raped by groups of men that very often include a relative; one child was raped by a group of men that included her own grandfather.

The pandemic spread of HIV and AIDS in these countries coupled with the Virgin Sex Myth that many believe has led many AIDS infected men to seek to have sex with a virgin, the younger the better, in order to be "healed" of their disease. Other men, while not believing this myth, seek to have sex with virgins in order to avoid contracting AIDS from older, infected women.

As global citizens we must put an end to the barbaric and senseless crimes against women and children.

For years sex offender laws have been getting out of hand and become increasingly detrimental on the convicted offenders' lives. Sex offenses can be anything from incestual activites to walking outside butt naked. In some states even consensual sexual activites between people who are less than a year apart in age can be considered a sex offense.

The current registration laws force sex offenders to register, in most states, for life. The governement says this is ok, it is ok to violate the constitutional rights of sex offenders because the safety of children comes before that of convicted sex offenders. However, since the enactment of Megan's Law, all that has happened is an increased amount of vigilantism against sex offenders and in some cases even murder. Sex offender suicide rates are up, and the "victims" rates are too, yet guess what hasn't changed. . .the amount of sex offenses actually acurring. Why is that??? BECAUSE MOST SEX OFFENSES HAPPEN WITHIN YOUR OWN FAMILY OR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS. In other words a sex offense is more likely to happen from someone you KNOW than someone you DON'T. All placing one time sex offenders on some big list has done is create a false sense of security and meaninglessly decreassed the possibility of an ex-offender maintaining a societal purpose or long term employment. In fact, many sex offenders now are more likely to commit other crimes because they feel isolated from society, and with good reason. Most states don't allow theese tax paying citzens to vote, live in certain areas, live in public housing communities, participate in certain forms of employment (including jobs unrelated to the crimes committed) and the right to due process.

The current laws violate many constitutionally guaranteed rights, and Human Rights (as declared by the United Nations) including the right against "Cruel and Unusual Punishment", the right to a "Jury Trial & Due Process before the law", and the right to privacy. Many sex offenders on lists have been attacked, fired, ridiculed, outcasted or even murdered as a direct result of their listing in the sex offense data base. The overall result. . .more crime without actually reducing the risk to children and further alienism of people accuased of ANY sex offense. There needs to be limitations to who is considered a sex offender, and furthermore limitations to how long any sex offender can be listed as such. Lifetime registration requirements are higly unfair, I would be much more worried about a convicted murderer moving to town than someone who had sex as a 20 year old with someone who was 16 and lied about their age, but as the law currently reads. . .the 20 year old has a lifetime sentence of sex offense registration despite being no real danger to society, while the murderers records can be sealed, is not held against him/her after sentence is served and is allowed help integrating back into society.

When will this end, when will the United States stop singling out sex offenders as one giant group of "immoral and devious" people for the rest of their lives. How are people placed on internet websites with every personal detail about them from hair color to address ever supposed to regain any type of status or image in community. . .it's simple, they can't. . .It's 7-11, McDonalds or Wal Mart for life, take your pick, and be carefull. . .after all you have to pay all those sex offender fees so you have to make sure you can get enough hours at minimum wage to pay them at one of the jobs. I mean c'mon, sex offender for life because of incest, or a lie about ones' age, sodomy, prostitution, soliciting prostitution, lewd and lascavious activities, the list goes on and on. If you are going to single out a list for dangerous people, it should include criminals convicted of armed robberies and murder as well as other violent crimes too, and only the most violent/repeat sexual offenders should have to register, and even them if they stay clean for 10 years (the length of a bankruptcy) should be given another chance at life. If it were your son who at a young age had sex with someone who was barely under 18, would your opinion be different then.

Many people don't realize how unfair or unconstitutional a law is until it happens to them or someone they know, so put yourself in the sex offenders shoes for just one second. . .think to yourself if this was me who made this mistake, would this punishment be fair? Remember, when we as a society isolate someone to public humiliation (I.E. Sex Offender Registration), we harm not only the sex offender, but his/her family, friends, employers, lawyers, doctors, dentists, landlords and other service providers as well.
