We, the residents of Cassia County are strongly opposed to the proposed corridor of the Gateway West Project through private property.
We feel it should be placed on as much public ground as possible to protect our families, our homes, and our businesses.
We should not have to submit ourselves to undo risks when there are other alternatives. We support our county commissioners in routing the project through public grounds.
There is increasingly popular demand for a significant extension of the duration of the public viewing of Michael Jackson's body at his Neverland Ranch in order to accommodate the large numbers of fans from all over the world who want to see Michael Jackson for the last time and pay their respect.
Please sign this petition if you agree that the duration should be extended significantly to at least an entire week or more.
ADLER - AUDITOR'S FINDINGS IN WILLINGBORO MERITS CRIMINAL PROBE
Audit: Willingboro school officials faked financial reports in 2005.
TRENTON - Senator John H. Adler today asked State Attorney General Stuart Rabner to launch a criminal probe to punish those responsible for misappropriating millions of taxpayer dollars in the Willingboro Township School District.
"As we tell our children, there have to be consequences for wrongdoing," said Senator Adler, D-Cherry Hill. "Taxpayers need to know we will dig down to the root causes of wrongdoing and punish those responsible."
In a report by State Auditor Richard L. Fair, it was disclosed that Willingboro officials approved a grossly under-funded budget for the 2005 fiscal year and then falsified reports to cover up the shortfall, causing a crisis which was abated only after the Legislature sanctioned a $10 million bailout loan.
"It is unconscionable that New Jersey taxpayers should be asked to tolerate and to subsidize what very well may be criminal behavior," Senator Adler said in a letter today sent to Attorney General Stuart Rabner. "As a taxpayer, I am appalled. As a State Senator, I appeal to you for a corrective remedy."
The Auditor's report noted that the Willingboro School Board said its vote to approve the budget was based on "falsified" information supplied by district staff. In July of 2005, the board suspended School Superintendent Alonzo Kittrels.
In the wake of a school district deficit set at $5.9 million, three Willingboro schools were shuttered in the district of 5,600 students.
The State audit found that the district's 2005 budget set aside $13.6 million for teachers' salaries when the actual cost was $17.7 million and that a monthly report on the district's financial activity consistently understated expenses.
"Children should see that grownups who abuse taxpayers are held accountable," Senator Adler said. "Otherwise, we're all complicit."
Senator Adler served as co-chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Public School Funding Reform which recommended tighter fiscal accountability procedures for districts throughout New Jersey.
I am actively working on efforts to gain support within the Bay County Community to show our School Board that a vote to require that all students grades K-12 wear uniforms to Public School.
Not only is the cost unattainable to some low-income families, but changing from the very lenient dress code that is currently in place to one that is far more strict will be a change that will meet much resistance.
Please keep up with my blog as i will let you know about Petition efforts, Public Hearings where your support would be greatly appreciated, and ways in which you can voice your own concerns to your School Board before they vote on August 4, 2009.
We are writing to draw your attention to the Equal Opportunities Commission, Bill to be introduced by the Government, shortly. An important recommendation of the Sachar Committee Report (Report on Social, Economic and Educational Status of the Muslim Community of India), 2006 was the setting up of an Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) in India. The Ministry of Minority Affairs set up a committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Menon to examine and determine the structure of an Equal Opportunity Commission. The Committee submitted its report in 2008, which proposed a draft Equal Opportunity Commission Bill (EOC Bill). The Government also set up an expert committee headed by Dr. Kundu to recommend an appropriate diversity index in living, education and work spaces.
We have drafted an open letter to the Ministry of Minority Affairs, highlighting some of the key concerns with the draft bill and demanding a wider public debate before it is introduced in Parliament. Once, endorsed, we will mail copies of the letter to the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the Prime Minister. We also hope to publish the text of the Open letter in atleast two national newspapers.
Do forward it to other organisations and individuals who would wish to sign the petition.

On August 10, 2008, a propane explosion occurred at Sunrise Propane, 54 Murray Rd, North York, Ontario, forcing 12,000 residents from their homes.
Due to extensive damage caused by the explosion, not all residents have returned home as they have to rebuild.
Residents who have elected to tear down more than 50% of their existing walls, have learned that their house rebuilding is being treated as "new construction".
This Bylaw is according to Municipal Code, Chapter 851, Water Supply and Chapter 681, Sewer Service. Residents will have to pay the City of Toronto approx $11,000 for upgrades on city property, which does not include the additional expense required to upgrade the pipes on their own property.
Glenn De Baeremaeker, Chair of Public Works & Infrastructure, denied all requests for the issue to be added as an agenda item. He stated in a letter, “I fully understand and sympathize with the situation your constituent is faced with as he rebuilds his home following last summer’s Sunrise Propane blast, there does not appear to be sufficient merit to warrant a request of City Council to exempt this property from the relevant provisions of the Municipal Code”
Several written requests have been submitted to the Mayor's office for assistance. Karen Duffy responsed from the Office of the Mayor, stating that "The Mayor's Office is satisfied that the city is responding to your request. The decision rests with the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee. There will be no meeting scheduled."
A final attempt was made to add the issue to the agenda on the day of the meeting, June 3rd, and Glenn De Baremeaker made a ruling that the request would not be put to a vote and would not be heard by the committee.
Karen Duffy stated the Mayor was powerless to help, and once again said no meeting would be scheduled.
In 2005 "FOX" started to air the series "Prison Break". For a lot of fans "Michael Scofield" became the hero. Besides the audience liked Michael´s relationship with Sara. They even called it "MiSa" for Michael and Sara. All fans hoped for a happy end.
They made videos with Sara and Michael and opened internet pages to talk about "MiSa". But in the series finale the disaster happened. Michael Scofield died.
Now all "MiSa" and Michael-fans are sad and disappointed. So a lot of fans try to save their beloved Michael:

We have nothing to fear but fear itself, the words of President Roosevelt still outshine those of cowards and ignorant people such as the person or persons who penned the petition --
Stop Hermosa Beach from Becoming a Haven to the Homeless posted on March 06, 2009.
In the petition, the author(s) claims homeless people being drug users is a reason to enact laws to discriminate against the poor.
This is a comment from a person with no financial intelligence. The speculation that homeless people are drug users is mere fear motivated speculation.
Unlikely to be true since illegal drugs or legal drugs are produced by business minded people and organizations like pharmaceticul companies and so called drug lords. This interest in profit leads them to court customers of an income over $1200 every four months (my own income of late). The more likely consumers of these products are the homeowners in the community, and if people are to be removed from the community for being drug users, the city should survey all individuals for taking viagra, cialis, anti-depressants, cocaine, heroine, alcohol, and designer marijuana regardless of how much they spend on sandals, volleyballs, or homes.
Being homeless exposes you to the ignorance and inexperience of police forces and the most ignorant I have met were not in Hermosa, but Palo Alto, and Redondo, where I was threatened by a police officer until I allowed him to search my car. He said he did not believe in the 4th amendment. A pleasant thought, law enforcers who act according to their interpretations of the constitution. Keeping the low level of intelligence that most law enforcers have and the narrow life experience of the people that our country recruits, homeless people, often, the prey of choice for the ignorant, tend to avoid giving any excuse to police officers, also known as people with guns, to suspect them of any illegal behavior. This is an alternative response to terror than the Bush administrations.
These two reasons, a homeless persons exposure to gun toting police and their poverty, narrow the likelihood that any of them use half as many drugs as the homeowners in the community, and those that do are probably in need of time indoors for readjustment to that lifestyle, charity, kindness, and counseling.
So why did the author suggest this possibility? Either ignorance, fear or profit motive. I have never seen so many people so easily threatened by appearances. I have long hair and a beard and those two choices grant me power to silence most people on the sidewalks and streets of Hermosa Beach. I also have a sense of humor which gives me power to make those same people laugh and this is what I prefer.
Lastly, this is for the sake of the hermosa beach community, an ignorant public is easy to endanger with mind control. Don't except my opinions or those of the other person. Educate yourself, meet a homeless person, meet twenty. Inquire about their interests, passions, upbringing. Go home and think about who you know best in your life and how long it took you to know that person, then, go and meet the homeless person or hopefully by now you see her or him, young or old as a person with a name. Find a common interest and exploit it. Now you have a friend, and who needs greed when you have friends, right?
A person may be incurably psychotic and yet retain the dignity of a human being. Victor Frankl wrote this after his time as a detainee in a German concentration camp. It seems absurd to exclude the possibility for those not from Hermosa Beach or without six figure incomes.
Or if you prefer ABBA, take a chance on me. And travel outside your neighborhood, please!!!
The awful daring of a moment's surrender... no age of prudence can ever retract -- T.S. Eliot Be daring people of Hermosa Beach and remain kind (I met a lot of great people while I was there!).
72. St George's Day
People in countries all over the world have a special day each year when they join together to pay tribute to their patron saint and celebrate their nation's history, culture and way of life.
The most obvious examples of such festivities are those that take place in Ireland on St. Patrick's Day. However, England and the English people have just as much to be proud of, with accomplishments in many fields of endeavour and enterprise that are second to none.
St. George's Day (April 23rd) ought to be a date in the calendar when everyone in England, whatever their background, can enjoy and share their common heritage. We are therefore urging the government of the United Kingdom to make it an official Public Holiday.

We are asking the Arizona Corporation Commission to look at alternative routes to the ones proposed by Unisource and Transcon.
*There is currently a new "Municipal Parking Lots" ordinance that will be in effect starting September 1, 2008.
*This ordinance will require Pitman residents who do not have parking at their homes, to purchase a parking permit to park in a public lot. Without purchasing this overnight parking permit for $100 per year, overnight parking in a public lot is prohibited. (For more information please see the flyer or go to www.pitman.org)
*Parking is difficult already for most residents who reside near the historial Pitman Grove. Most houses do not have driveways for parking to begin with. Some houses only have partially paved alley ways to park in. With these alley ways only partially paved, it makes getting in and out very difficult especially during winter months when it snows.
*We are also not allowed to park infront of our houses between the hours of 2:00 am to 6:00 am without being ticketed. They allow us to "call" our cars in if we do have to park outside. However, if you call too many times you abuse your parking priviledge and they put you on a reject list.
*Pitman recently expanded the baseball field on Lincoln and Cleveland Ave which took away ample parking for Pitman residents. That field is rarely used for anything.
*The ordinance states that even if we buy these $100 parking permits they can not guarantee parking spots. What do we do then? Where do we park? This ordinance is already creating more problems then we presently have.
*Why are the residents near the Grove being penalized because we do not have ample parking like other areas of Pitman? It is not justifiable that the residents who don't have sufficient parking have to pay $100 a year just to park their car.
Please sign the following petition to help us to oppose this ordinance.
Like a lot of folks, I have a job--I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet.
I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting around, doing drugs, while I work. . .
Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? Something has to change in this country -- and soon!
Recent changes in state legislation have opened an opportunity for Durham to have its own Community Media Center and Public Access Television channel. We are the first major city in North Carolina to take advantage of the new legislative promise to invest and support local media and community technology access and training.
For the last decade, Durham Public Access has been managed by Time Warner Cable because previous laws required them to do so. The result was that the channel did not meet the needs of the community or fulfill its potential as a true accountable, community-driven operation. Durham now has an opportunity to change this dynamic and create a public-access television channel and community media center which would be truly reflective of its culture and diversity.
Public-access television was developed to provide local and diverse content to programming on cable systems. Functioning like a soapbox for communities, programming ranges from local news, events and entertainment, to inspirational, youth-oriented, and educational shows. The need today is even greater with the loss of locally owned and operated television, radio and newspapers due to media conglomeration.
Besides offering space (and a voice) on the cable line up, Community Media Centers provide training, access to equipment and facilities, and serves to build community through the production of media. Nationally, Community Media Centers and Public Access programmers produce 20,000 hours of new programs per week – more new programming than all the broadcast networks combined.
There is no one model for a Public-Access Television and Community Media Center; each reflects the needs of that particular community. However, one thing is consistent - they advocate for and maintain tools for creating media, provide media services and create venues for sharing community voices and showcasing creativity. Through technology, they provide a space to communicate in ways that are not available through traditional outlets.
To: Portland Public School Board Members and Portland Public Schools Superintendent
The Oregon Library Association (OLA), the Portland Area Information Literacy Group (P.A.I.L.), and the undersigned Oregon librarians and library media specialists want to express support for libraries, teacher-librarians and library media specialists in all of Portland Public School libraries. The OLA is a statewide association of over 1,000 members composed of academic, public, and special librarians from across Oregon. P.A.I.L. is a group of Portland area librarians from public, school, college and university libraries in the Portland area. We advocate for Information Literacy for all of our library users and students.
P.A.I.L. has met over the last three years and found from the very first conversation that we had a common concern: “Students seeking a post-secondary education lacked the requisite knowledge to do high quality research using the multitude of resources available in today’s modern library.” From our discussions we discovered that support for professional teacher-librarians and library media specialist (LMS) in Portland Public Schools had been waning over the years. It was a stunning epiphany for all, especially the college librarians.
We write to you in support of staffing your school libraries with professional librarians and support staff, providing equal and equitable access to both a qualified librarian and a professionally developed library collection. The role of administering a library program and library media center also involves someone who is an expert in curriculum and provides high quality resources teachers and students need. Research has consistently shown that school librarians and strong libraries correlate strongly with student success and retention. They also prepare students to succeed in post-secondary schooling and to become critical thinkers and well-informed citizens.
We understand that you recently created a new position in the district, one that can help to renew the role of librarians and school libraries across your district, and we applaud your acknowledgement to address this need. We wish to encourage your continuous efforts to bring Portland Public School libraries into the 21st century, and to become the leader for school libraries in Oregon.

83. Free Kareem Amer
Abdel Karim Nabil Suleiman (known as "Kareem Amer") sentenced and imprisoned for a term of four years in the February 22, 2007 on charges of "incitement to hate Islam" and insulting Egyptian President codes.
In this framework, the organization announced Reporters Without Borders:
"We consider this provision shameful. The investigation with Kareem Amer was a serious abuses of a public prosecutor representing the presence of three agents from the Attorney General illegal side of the official investigator, who mock Karim Amer during interrogation, and threatened and ridicule because of his views that hold , As well as the questions are illegal and reflect the tendency of public prosecution away from the law, such as "Do you fast? Does lying?" Which made the investigation with Kareem Amer far cry from the impartiality and transparency, so that an inspection in the conscience rather than with legal Writer reflects on his ideas.
It was Karim Amer lawyers had informed the incident of Amer`s torture in prison by one of the prisoners and a guard amber, and ordered police officers from one prison officer is "Medhat Samir", following the detection of Karim Amer reality of corruption in prison, was punished and punished severely torture, Resulting in one of his teeth broken and many of the injuries he suffered, as well as the denial of reported against the officer Medhat Samir, as well as deprivation of proving those injuries in a medical report.
The Arab Network and Hisham Mubarak Center for Law in their communiqué of the Attorney General that the attack on Kareem Amer : "Abdelkarim Nabil Suleiman" has been tortured at his "cell 22" by prisoners and one guard in the presence and under the supervision of the officer Medhat Samir and ordered him, thus breaking one of his teeth "Tusk from the left upper jaw," and numerous abrasions and bruises all over Sporadic his body.
Was then transferred to a cell of discipline, and there was handcuffed hands and feet from the back, then beat him again, resulting in further injuries.
Then they brought another prisoner and stripped of his clothes completely, and beat him in front of the prisoner Abdel Karim Suleiman, and the threat that they get the same punishment if he does not mean interfering with again.
JPMorgan Chase is working in partnership with property development company Hammersons and the City of London Corporation to create a 950,000 sq ft building on a relatively small site in the City of London which immediately adjoins the residential Barbican Estate, home to some 5,000 people, and a Grade II listed building.
If approved, the JP Morgan office block be the largest building in the City and will completely overshadow and wall-in the Eastern side of the Barbican.
Currently the site contains generous open space and public gardens, raised above the ground, with interconnecting pedestrian bridges. These walkways form several access routes to the Barbican, which keep pedestrians away from the noise and hazards of London Wall - a major East-West traffic artery through central London. The proposed scheme will remove these, and create a somewhat smaller park at ground level immediately next to this busy road.
What are currently pleasant and safe pedestrian-only routes will be replaced by busy street-level crossings and streetside pavements. It will close and also build over an ancient city street - Fore Street - creating a large and impermeable block in the heart of the City.
I am seeking your support to call for urgent action by Brisbane City Council in relation to the dangerous conditions recently created along busy Seventeen Mile Rocks Road (number 438). The dangerous conditions have arisen suddenly with the closure of a privately owned service road (between Oldfield Road and the roundabout at Counihan/Jennifer Streets).
For decades, the service road has been open for public walking and cycling. The service road runs parallel to Seventeen Mile Rocks Road where there is no footpath on either side of the road.
The service road was a popular, safe, tree-lined route for student, commuter and recreational cyclists and pedestrians. Due to the sudden closure of the service road:
• pram walkers have entirely disappeared from the area;
• pedestrians are now walking on the road or in a narrow strip of sloped rubble in close proximity to heavy traffic; and
• cyclists are risking their lives on the undulating road which in some places, is too narrow for a car to overtake bicycles (at the median strip).
The community is now left without an important connection to cyclepaths, schools, bus stops, shops, aged care facilities, child care centres, cafes and the new DFO (via Goggs Rd). For those traveling to the Rocks Riverside Park, there is currently no other viable route for cyclists, prams, wheelchairs or those worried about personal security. Plans for a footpath on the eastern side of the road will only address a quarter of the concerns we have and is estimated to take some time due to the drainage problems in the area.
The service road was closed in March/April 08, when the private landowner of the service road erected barbed wire to disallow walking/cycling access. Landowner has erected signs indicating the intention to build in the fenced off zone although a development application has not yet been lodged. The land is zoned as General Industry and public consultation might not be necessary to obtain a development approval (depending on the applicable code)
The row of large trees which lie between the service road and Seventeen Mile Rocks Road may be at risk if the owner’s intentions to undertake construction proceeds. The trees provide important shade to pedestrians and cyclists.
Please consider signing the attached petition proposing a:
1. short-term solution to the immediate dangers created; and
2. consultative process for working through long-term development issues.
This problem is much less complex than most traffic and development issues in the Centenary area and accordingly, should be quickly addressed. Please help us ensure the community can continue to enjoy and value safe walking/cycling under the trees into the future.

Bridgeport, CT's Proposed 2009 Budget constitutes many changes and hardships for citizens in an already stressed community.
According to the budget, 43 newly civilianized staff that will operate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) even though though the budget has scaled back funding for public library services, eliminates 19 positions in the Public Health Nursing Program, eliminates the general fund school based program, dental hygiene and reduces the nursing staff by half, budgetary reduction of 1/3 of staff funding, reduction of 25 positions, eliminates 87 direct line positions and accounts. Budget calls for a 4-mill tax hike or a 9 percent increase in taxes. As far as education, 7.4 teaching positions are not funded in the mayor's budget, and 41 new positions could not be filled.
The budget allows to provide sanitation services including garbage collection, bulk trash pickup, leaf removal, and recycling to our residents. Beyond regular trash pickup, these additional services are by no means mandated, and they carry a cost of $6,545,327.
These costs could be reduced if residents would carry the cost of garbage removal.
"Government has announced an extra day’s holiday this year as Bermuda transitions from a day off on the Queen’s Birthday to a day off in October to mark National Heroes Day. " (Royal Gazette, 10/04/2008)
Clearly the removal of our sovereign's birthday as a public holiday is inexcusable. No discredit to Dame Lois; she was an integral part of securing equality for all parts of our population, facing adversity along most of the way.
There are ways of honouring her that do not involve a blatant insult to Her Majesty.
Since 2000 all the public Rugby posts in Reading have slowly disappeared and either been replaced by Football pitches or by nothing.
This leaves the people of Reading nowhere to play Rugby except private clubs.
This restricts Rugby to Public Schools and Countrysides.
This Petition is designed to pressure local authorities to bring back the posts so that WE have the choice of what sports we play and not them.
