31. Animal Shelter Needed In Kent County 
The citizens of Richibucto and surroundings are finally banding together to help the lost, abandoned, abused, and injured animals in our community and surrounding areas of Kent County.
With urging from the Kent County Veterinary Hospital, and like-minded friends, I am now pulling together a group of caring citizens for the purpose of:
1. Helping each other help the animals;
2. Building our own shelter right here in Richibucto to serve all Kent County. Even the most caring individuals can only foster so many animals at one time – so the need for a shelter is great.
As you probably know, the nearest SPCA shelter is over an hour away – and is always full. We're not aiming for elaborate – merely functional. This could be a long process. But until we begin, we cannot finish.
Will you help? Your sponsorship or donation will be a building-block on the way to assuring that like Rex, Charlie and many more ( see pictures ) can be rescued, given veterinary care, and placed in loving homes.

I am sad to report that we don't have the funds yet to build a shelter. But we are doing different things to raise funds but this is just helping us in providing care for the animals, which is great but it is very difficult to place these animals in different homes...
We have proven that we can save animals lives and place them in loving homes but we need our shelter built and we are going to show this petition to the political leader of our area...
32. Unfreeze my neopets account!
My neopets account (Which had 160,000 np, tons of trophies, and 10 pirate paintbrushes that I was selling for VERY cheap) got banned for "chain mailing".
I was only having a conversation with my friend! that is NOT a reason to be banned. I hope this gets the neopets team to change their minds.
33. A better life for greyhounds
Every year at least 10,000 greyhounds retire from racing in the UK. Many of these simply 'disappear'.
Racing greyhounds may face a number of welfare issues during their lives including:-
* Overbreeding leading to thousands of unwanted dogs being killed.
* Injuries caused by inappropriate track surface and design.
* Being abandoned and killed when they don't make the grade.
When they retire greyhounds meet one of 9 fates, 6 of which are totally unacceptable.
1. Abandoned and end up being taken to the local pound.
2. Abandoned and die.
3. Abandoned and then found by a member of the public and kept as a pet.
4. Abandoned and found by a rescue organisation and rehomed.
5. Killed by their owner.
6. Euthanased by a vet.
The acceptable alternatives to this are:-
1. Kept by their owner as a pet.
2. Rehomed to a good home by their owner.
3. Handed to a rescue organisation and then rehomed.
Pet Rescue By Judy is an outstanding non-profit organization. She helps hundreds of needy PEOPLE, find loving companions. For example, they have a "Seniors for Seniors" program that reduces the usual adoption fee of $100--to only a $50 donation.
Recently, my Grandfather's dog Buckshot passed due to Lymphomic Cancer. Needless to say he was devastated. We went on line to Pet Rescue By Judy.com and found a beautiful pointer mix about 8 years of age. Her name is Olive, and if it weren't for her, grandpa would've taken root on the couch.
Sadly, she has one miserable neighbor that constantly complains, and therefor the county has been called on numerous occasions. Unbelievably, the county charged her with running a pet rescue out of her residential home! According to Orange County, the description of a "pet rescue" is--A facility that PRIMARILY performs services for animals.
Any REASONABLE person can see this is not the case.
A) Her home is just that--PRIMARILY her home.
B) She is non-profit
C) There are only two paid employees who frequently visit her home.
D) She MAY make some phone calls from her HOME--but last I knew that was not illegal even for a business.
E) She maintains a storage facility for the supplies such as food, beddind etc.
F) All of her animals are Fostered--in other words all but 4 which she choose to foster herself, are with other families until they are adopted.
G) There are Adoption Seminars held every Saturday at the Petsmarts in Orlando and off S.R. 50 in Titusville. So there are almost no activities done in her home. (I say almost because some of the volunteers sometimes drop by to visit--and as far as I know this is not illegal)
So if I understood correctly, the only "problem" they have is she has two "paid" employees that come to her house on a regular basis. She owns several animals herself, and fosters I believe 4 others which are listed on the website for adoption. But in Orange County a residential home is ALLOWED to have TWENTY, yes 20! dogs!!
As I said before, this residence is PRIMARILY her home, and it is my opinion, that she is providing a valuable service to the PEOPLE. And to the county as well, because of her and the volunteers, there are numerous animals that are Not in the county shelters and will NOT be euthanized. There is not one no-kill shelter in the Central Florida area that I am aware of, except those run by individuals such as Judy.
The county also stated that they COULD choose to reach an "agreement" that would allow Judy to continue her rescue. But they obviously decided not to do so. She has her HOME, her home! up for sale because she would rather move than discontinue helping abandoned and abused animals. To me, that is absolutely absurd that she would be asked to leave.
The board of directors actually had the nerve to ask her when she would be able to move out! Well, everyone knows the condition of the economy right now, and the realestate market is at an all time low. They gave her six months to vacate the property or stop "providing services to animals". So in essence what they're saying is, anyone who takes in an abandened or abused animal and provides vet care, food and shelter is in violation of county code ??? This "offense" is punishable by $250 fine PER day!!
If you believe that this is ridiculous, please sign our petition. Also, we would appreciate it if you could visit the web site-- Pet Rescue By Judy.com There is also a petition there, ABC's extreme make over is considering building her a new facility were she will have plenty of room and no longer be harrassed by either her one miserable neighbor or the county. And did I mention, it IS lawfull to operate a profit Daycare in a residential neighborhood. A person can have as many as ten adults and or children at their home. That means a minimum of 10 cars coming and going from 5:00a.m. -6:00 p.m. And this is ok! But because Judy supposedly provides a service to the animals, her 2 paid employees qualifies her for a violation! Ridiculous !
So PLEASE, lets vote to get this absurd law changed. Thanks! The Abused and Abandoned, Animals of Brevard County.
35. Pets in Rental Housing, British Columbia
This petition is to have Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia re-open or pass a similar bill to BILL M 203 -- 2000 PETS IN RENTAL HOUSING ACT, 2000 (http://qp.gov.bc.ca/36th4th/1st_read/mem203-1.htm), amending the Residential Tenancy Act.
In 2002, a poll conducted for the BC SPCA by McIntyre and Mustel Research, indicates that a majority (79%) of BC residents are in favour of legislation that allows pet guardians the right to keep companion animals (i.e. cat or dog) in their rental units, provided they do not cause unreasonable noise or damage.

36. Stop animal slaughter in the name of religion
Apologists for Ritual Slaughter claim that it is both quick and humane. We say that this imported ritual isn't - it is barbaric, cruel and wholly unnecessary. In addition ritually slaughtered meat should not be clandestinely fed to our kids in their school dinners - as is happening in hundreds of schools up and down the country at present!
Does your kids' school secretly serve up ritually slaughtered meat in their meals? If you don't know then we urge you to find out!
Parents and pupils alike should contact their schools to demand that any ritually slaughtered meat used in school catering be clearly labelled as such, so as to provide freedom of choice for the vast majority of pupils who, quite rightly, have no wish to participate in the most prolific form of animal cruelty practiced in Britain today!

Animal abuse is wronge and its mean. I hate animal abuse and dog fighting and just in generally being mean to animals! They are living creatures and I just wish more people would report any sign of animal abuse and dog fighting.
PLEASE STOP ANIMAL ABUSE!!
38. Increase New York City's Pooper-Scooper Fine to $1000
What a waste: New York City's pooper-scooper fine hasn't gone up since the Carter administration.
The city's first ordinance that mandated picking up your dog's poop went into effect in 1978. “If you’ve ever stepped in dog doo, you know how important it is to enforce the canine waste law,” former mayor Ed Koch said.
The fine for violating the law has held unchanged at $50-100 ever since.
Fifty bucks may have gone a long way thirty years ago, but it's downright laughable now. Get caught, and what's the big deal -- you'd lose the equivalent of a half a night's drinking money. With the cost of inflation, a $50 fine back then should be about $160 in 2007 dollars. Other cities have long surpassed even that amount. Atlanta, for example, hits poop scofflaws with a $1,000 fine. Boulder, Colorado, charges $500. With the possibility of losing that kind of cash, wouldn't you think twice about looking the other way when your mutt pooped on the sidewalk?
Santa Monica, California, by the way, goes as far as to order dog walkers to have bags or scoopers in plain sight at all times!
NYC Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty is on the right track: He plans to mandate the city's maximum $100 fine beginning this fall, then lobby the state legislature to amend the law (Section 1310 of the New York State Public Health Code) to further increase the fine.
Good for Doherty. Unfortunately his plan doesn't go far enough. He eventually wants to see a $250 fine. But why stop there? A larger fine -- say, $1,000 -- would send a clear message that failing to clean up after your pet will no longer be condoned and will carry serious consequences.
The vast majority of New Yorkers are dutifully picking up after dogs. It's the responsible thing to do. But some aren't. And in a city of 8 million people, and millions of dogs, we owe it to ourselves to make sure our sidewalks are free of smelly and unsanitary waste.
So if you live in the state of New York, please take a moment to sign our petition; help us lobby the legislature to increase the fine to $1,000. Sign it, and then send a link to all your friends.
39. CHANGE NOEPETS BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS! GET RID OF THIS BETA CRAP!
Hello as you probably know neopets is a online game where you create pets and play with other players. On this site you can chat/playgames/and do other fun stuff, BUT TNT(the neopets team)Changed neopets! Into what they call neopets neopets Beta.Now let's all face it,neo NEEDED a face lift, BUT TNT is out of control, I logged on to neo, did my dailys and such and made my new neopet layout!
Took me 3 hours but it turned out great! It showed my personallity/what i like/and that I am an active player who pays atteintion to detail.I log off,then come back to my computer and log on to neopets. I see the changes and Im thinking. "HOW COOL"Neo looks advaced now! BUT then I go to my user lookup.AND WHAT DO I FIND! My layout that I spent HOURS on is erased!And my pets look girly!And the look really cute. Which is ok for you preppy people but for people like me cute dose NOT cut it. My jetsam is so horrid looking I have to morph him into something else, what, I don't know because everything is ugly now!I have a baby pet who looks about the size of not a petpet but a petpetpet! I even attached a petpet for the size diffrence!
The petpet was slightly bigger than her! I also have a faerie buzz,and now his wings are clear and look just like every other buzz only he is purple!What a waste of 3.5 mill! I could of bought a purple paint brush for only 100k!He looks like a fling barney! Another issue.My pet's lookups are messed up. Now where do I put my art.*Ponders*OK and now TNT reached a low, Dressing up your neopets. I know im not the only one who thinks it's a rediculesly STUPID idea!Almost as bad a putting tiny dogs in outfits!Thank god my holloweenlupe was unchanged how ever!But most pets are changed and ugly!
Lutaris look like the have a flat head, Kikos look really bad,Kois look as if there fins are mutating into fist, mutant pets are becoming cute like. Every pet has the same pose as the unpainted ones. And not to menchon the xweetoks giving the finger(they hangout with me too much). OK and If you thoguht THAT was bad ALL the female pets have UGLY eyelashes! And once again too cute/girly for my taste.My hissy looks like a thug,I think he may beat me up.And ALL my neofriends are quitting!Neo never asked us the players if it was OK?With out US the players neo would cese to exist!

40. Stop the Cruelty: Stop Iams!
Iams and its manufacturers conduct cruel and unnecessary laboratory tests on animals, including locking animals in cages and deliberately forcing healthy animals to eat contaminated and potentially lethal food.
They've also done such things as cutting chunks of muscle from dogs' thighs, hanging mice by their hind legs in crude muscle-atrophy experiments, and inducing gingivitis in beagles by cutting and stitching their gums. These tests are cruel and unnecessary and are not required by any law.
It is time for Iams to join the 21st century and abandon all laboratory testing on animals. In addition, Iams' shameful purchase of animals from breeders in order to confine them to cages for a minimum of six years - when the company could rely on humane feeding tests conducted in homes and in veterinary offices using animals volunteered by their guardians - must be ended.

41. Vets Now - poor out of hours Veterinary Service

As more UK vets opt out of provide out of hours service, Vets Now are moving in to provide out of hours service. While the standard of care may be good, this is leading to VERY high costs for pet owner who need to use their services.
It may be a cost efficient option for the vet but the charges are leading to unnecessary delays in treatment as owners (and rescues) find it difficult to meet costs.
The movement for one surgery to provide care for a large geographical area also causes problems in getting the animals to the surgery.
Chained dogs can become very dangerous to chidren and other animals. They deserve better.
They deserve to be a part of your family and to be loved, not left in the back yard and forgotten about.
43. Ban Cats from leaving their homes

Cats that are let out at night go and hunt Australian wildlife and other peoples pets.
I have already had cats come under my house and killing my birds going in our yard and slaughtering my ginuea pigs.
They are a threat to our pets and native wild life.
