124. Update Stillwater City Code Regarding Childcare
In 1999 the Oklahoma legislature passed and Governor Keeting signed HB 493, creating the category of Large Family Child Care Homes, which can be licensed for a maximum of 12 children. This was an important step in addressing child care needs across the state and placed Oklahoma in an equitable position with 44 other states with this category of care.
The City Code of Stillwater, Oklahoma has not been updated since 1993 and does not reflect the newest State legislation in effect. The current City Code limits the Family Day Care Home to a maximum of 7 children.
Current City Code considers Large Family Child Care Homes licensed for more than 7 children to be "Day Care Centers", although the City's definition of "Day Care Center" is in direct contradiction to the State's definition of "Day Care Center".
The demanding and expensive zoning restrictions placed on Large Family Child Care Homes by labeling them as "Centers" diminish the number of licensed providers and cause new providers to remain underground and unlicensed, thus making safe, monitored care less available to parents seeking care for their children.
We are seeking to have City Code amended so that all Family Child Care Homes, including those licensed by the State for up to 12 children, will be classified as an accepted Home-Based Business and all will be treated by the City as equals.
125. 50/50 Parenting Time
It is a well known fact that in the Canadian court system fathers are not treated equally. In a country such as Canada where equal rights are highly valued, this outdated practice has to be stopped. One parent should not suffer nor should one group benifit because of gender. The courts are overburdened and "friend of the court" isn't really a friend to anyone. It takes two parents to bring a child into the world and together 50/50 they should raise them.
Money should not be the issue the child should be. Let's be realistic here and put an end to father+rights=oxymoron. Please if you agree with this spread the word so that we can put an end to this unfair bias.

This Petition is requesting that all states Driver's education Programs teach students how to drive a manual transmission. Mrs. Haili and two other employees have recently turned in their resignations to the Executive Director, Carter Clark, of they Boys Girls Club in Columbia, SC. These employees have been on their jobs for quite some time. When the parents found out about the resignations, they got together and had a meeting with the Executive Director. Close to 100 parents showed up for this meeting expressing their concern. Many of the parents have vowed to have Mrs. Haili reinstated.

THE INFORMATION INDICATED, IN BOLD LETTERS, THAT THERE WOULD BE A CHANGE IN THE STARTING TIME FOR THE AUSTIC PROGRAM AT SEAHOLM HIGH SCHOOL IN BIRMINGHAM, MICHIGAN. CURRENTLY, THE STARTING TIMES ARE MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 7:25 A.M. TO 2:40 P.M. IN THE FALL OF THE YEAR, THE STARTING TIME FOR TUESDAY AND THRUSDAY WILL BE 9:05 A.M. TO 2:40 P.M. THE STARTING TIMES FOR MONDAY, WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY WILL REMAIN THE SAME. THE PARENTS WERE NOT CONTACTED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THE PLANNING OR TO OFFER ANY SUGGESTIONS REGARDING THE CHANGE IN THE TIME. 130. Parent/citizen concern for students attending Jefferson Township Schools
We the parents of students attending our Jefferson Township Schools are concerned about the failure rates of our children/students. It appears that parents have voiced their concern an approximately (ongoing) 3-4 yrs. in reference to this matter and the board members have listened and stated they are not hearing enough complaints,nor have the principals of these buildings, and the previous superintendent's. This is false, and definitely not true. Some of us parent's have contacted the Superintendent and the previous Principals to no avail. We were assured improvement would be made and to date it has not, and now our children are also being harrassed by teachers.
If one teacher voices a complaint about a student or more students, then the other teachers that the students also attend classes with are gathered to meet and discuss negatively in a meeting with said child or children. THIS TRULY LOWERS THE SELF-ESTEEM OF OUR CHILDREN AND THEY DON'T WANT TO ATTEND THE CLASS OF SAID TEACHER'(S) NOT KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT. "WE ARE TIRED AND WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT THIS BEHAVIOR TOWARD OUR CHILDREN." The teaching concept no longer has any regard to the title "TEACHER".

We the parents for a long time have been VERY VERY unhappy at the way the Recreation department has been run by Merle and Mr. Jenkins. We are tired of no one putting our KIDS first. Safe Haven Laws were enacted to stop parents who have concealed their pregnancies from giving birth alone and from discarding the newborn in a dumpster or other dangerous place. There are many names for Safe Haven including Safe Place, Baby Moses Law, Safe Arms for Newborns, Safe Delivery, etc. The children who are abandoned have no way of learning their history when the parent drops them off as they are not required to leave their name or history. 134. California Teen Pregnancy Prevention Day
California still has one of the highest teen birth rates in the nation. This results in serious implications for the teens, tax payers, their children and the community. 22% of teens giving birth in California had given birth previously. Up to 80% of parenting and pregnant teens drop out of high schooland aquire less skills to be self-sufficient. The majority of teen parents depend on welfare. Unemployment rates are high for teen parents. Medical complications, due to their age, and poor prenatal care are contributing to the high cost of our health care system.
Billions of dollars in State and Federal money is spent on teen pregnancy related issues.
I under stand that nickelodeon is cancelling sponge bob squarepants because of a small child. The child was swimming in a lake and drowned looking for spongebob. When the parents were asked where they were that their son was left unattended to outside they said they were inside watching tv. The parents now want to sue nickelodeon because of the death of their son. If you are like me you feel sympathetic for the child's family but blame the incident on the child's parents. If the boy was so obsessed with spongebob that he thought he was real then the parents should have had a talk with the child explaining that sponge bob is not real and he does not live in the bottom of a lake and that there is no such place as bikini bottom.

137. Don't Blame Video Games for Everything
People keep blaming video games for the cause of several things including the school shootings. I know several people who play violent videogames and they never get violent or take what they have played and put it into real life. I've played many videogames and i never thought of going a shooting a whole bunch of people. Why do people blame videogames? It's because they have nothing else to blame it on. Can't blame the internet because everyone uses it. People such as those senators or other officials that blame video games are completely wrong. Another way someone would blame video games for violence in children and teens is because they see that many games contain blood, shooting, ripping limbs off of people, and sniping people's heads off, and they don't want to see they're children playing these games. Well if parents don't want they're children playing these games, then why do they buy them? If parents want to stop violence, don't buy their child the violent games. Even though several violent games have sold alot (Grand Theft Auto 3), I think that video games aren't the problem, it's the parents and their lack of thought. How could a parent NOT see the big label saying rated "M" for mature?

These Web sites promote self harming and deadly behaviour and make it seem as if having anorexia is a gift. You don't see any one creating web sites like " Yay , Let's get cancer!". These Websites have pictures of anorexic girls with huge writing saying discusting things like " Anorexic Queen" and "Never too thin". These Websites basically promote people killing themselves. Not only to these sites have gross pictures they have dieting tips and ways to hide food from your parents. We say, STOP THIS !!!

141. Keeping Mrs. Rosa Gonzalez at Alicia Ruiz Elementary
Recent Knowledge about Mrs. Gonzalez (P-K Grade Teacher) having to leave Alicia Ruiz School has prompted parents to start a petition to keep her here. We need all signatures to show Mr.Garza that Keeping Mrs. Gonzalez here is not only important to us but beneficial to the School and the students. 142. End car rider parents having to remain in their vehicles @ Ellendale Elementary
It is a violation of parental rights to not allow a mother or father to park their vehicle on the street and walk up to the doors of the school to pick their child up from a long day. We do not want to wait until 3:00 to pick our children up, which is when they dismiss walkers. We pick our children up at the door because we want to be right there when they walk out. That should be our prerogative. We should be allowed to pick them up at 2:45 when the car riders are dismissed. Why should we have to come up to the school at 2:10, thats 35 minutes before the bell rings to get a decent place in that long line of cars so our children don't have to stand in line for 15 to 20 minutes out in the heat or cold waiting for mom or dad to get up there to them while the line slowly moves along. We could be standing at the door when the car riders are dismissed @ 2:45, get our child, and get out of the way. I truely do not believe that mom's and dad's standing at the door and walking to the car holding the childs hand as they cross the street (where the crossing guard is) is causing a real big safety problem for the children. If anything, I believe it would be the opposite. Our children and his/her safety is our number one priority. We do not need such controlling people sitting around making up rules telling us how to maintain the safety of our children. Keeping our children safe at dismissal time is one of our greatest priorities. That's why we are more comfortable meeting them at the door and we should not be penalized 15 minutes for that.

147. Release Joyce Bell from employment with Dare County Schools as Manteo Highschool Bus Driver
We the students of Manteo High School, hereby request the removal of Joyce Bell from the Manteo High School Bus Driver Position. All of the undersigned students feel that our Constitutional and Civil Rights are being violated, as well as the safety guidlines that all bus drivers must follow in transporting each of us to and from school each day.
We are being denied fair and humane treatment while riding to and from school on her bus #48 as required by state law. Students are being sworn at, yelled at, she will jam on the breaks of the bus to get the attention of students, which has already caused significant harm and injuries to a few of the students that are daily passengers.
She uses extreme profanity with the students, especially the boys, in a sexually harassing way. We the students of Manteo High School deserve a safe and pleasant ride to and from school each day without fear, and without feeling verbally abused during our daily rides. We are continuously late in getting home to our families because she will pull off onto the side of the road, (does not matter where)which sometimes puts us all in danger of being hit by another vehicle. She has gotton angry with some students and has made them get off the bus to walk home. From Manteo to the beach is a long haul, and we do not appreciate her treating us this way.
Our parents pay towns, and county taxes in order to provide money to pay the salaries of the bus driver's as well as several school officials at the Board's level on down to the custodians. We all are under the age of Eighteen, and feel that our complaints as well as our parents complaints are falling on deaf ears.
This petition is to serve as documentation of our treatment by this woman, and to open the school boards eyes and ears. We want action taken now! Before anyone else's rights are violated,or we get into an accident or worse, this woman needs to be removed and released from her position.

The Students of Manteo High School Bus #48
My Name is Edward Goldstone. I am just one of many fathers who has had to say goodbye to their child. The last time I saw my son was July 9, 2000. This is due in large part to a court system that has large biases in custudy cases that give more rights to mothers as a parent. More often than not, the courts note only the father's income, rather than their ability to love and care for their child.
On December 22,1999, at the Abbotsford Courthouse, I was given legal visitation rights to see my son, and was required to pay a monthy child maintenance. Since then, in breach of the law, his mother has taken him and disappeared, denying me the right to see my boy, Austin. With the aid of private investigator, I have searched for my son's mother and grandmother with no success. I continue to pay monthly maintenance. Family Maintenance Program (which I volunteered to pay her through) knows where they are but doesn't have authorization to tell me.
Although she is deliberately breaking the law, the authorities can do nothing to stop her. This is due to the omission of a peace officer clause. Without this clause the police can't help me, essentially the court order means nothing. I am trying to get Dads' voices heard. Both parents should be given joint custody (providing the child is not in any danger) and a peace officer clause be included, to make the order inforceable.
I would like your help to put pressure on the Canadain Government to change these out-dated laws. You could help greatly by signing this petition. Its time for dads to have equal rights as parents!
149. AGAINST PROMOTING HOMOSEXUALITY IN THE MEDIA, SUCH AS MOVIES AND TV SHOWS.

The fact that a growing number of senior executives are openly gay has led Variety, the entertainment industry's daily paper to conclude that the "gay glass ceiling" is slowly vanishing.
38 new films with gay and lesbian themes are currently in the pipeline and many more will be coming in the near future. No consideration is currently being given to the children viewing these movies.
These movies continue to portray homosexuals as enlightened, healthy role models.
150. California's Child & Family Protection Initiative
a) The protection of California's most vulnerable citizens, its children, should be the most important objective of government.
b) Although providing an important public service, current programs designed to protect children often times do more harm than good. Far too many tragedies, including serious physical and emotional injury to children and the unnecessary destruction of families, have occurred in recent years. The system must be reformed to restore fundamental fairness and promote protection of children and preservation of families.
c)California law requires cases where a child has been removed from his or her family due to alleged abuse or neglect to be heard within 15 days in order to bring speedy resolution to the matter and to minimize trauma to the child. However, thousands of children are kept away from their families for months on end by unnecessary government delays, resulting in tremendous costs to parents and taxpayers. In many cases, other family members are willing and able to care for these children, yet the current system does not promote preservation of the family.
d) The right to a jury trial is fundamental in our system of government. However, under existing law, a child can be removed from the care of his or her parents based only on allegations of abuse or neglect without the government having to present evidence justifying removal to a judge and jury.
e)This system, designed by politicians to protect children, instead often results in delay, excessive costs, mistakes, and family break-ups. IT IS IMPORTANT TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ABUSE AND NEGLECT, BUT IT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT CHILDREN ARE NOT WRONGFULLY REMOVED FROM THEIR PARENTS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
f) Abuse of the process is cloaked in secrecy because such juvenile proceedings are not open to the public.
g) Recently, several studies, grand jury investigations, and oversight hearings have brought these problems into clear focus. However, our elected representatives have failed to take action.
h) In order to protect the health and well-being of children, the people of the state of California hereby enact the Child and Family Protection Act to establish the right to a jury in juvenile dependency hearings, the right to a public hearing, the right to a speedy resolution and the promotion of family over government-sponsored care whenever possible.
