31. Formation of Republic of Jinnahpur

What I am saying is very simple. Urdu-speaking people living in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and other cities in the province of Sindh (Pakistan) deserve their own country.

An independent country for Urdu-speaking people will solve their economic problems on one hand and provide an environment of freedom from the military dictatorship of Punjab province on the other.

Urdu-speaking people have their own identity and worth. It is not possible for Urdu-speaking people to become part of Sindh. This attempt to make Urdu-speaking people part of Sindh has always failed. This fact that Urdu-speaking people are independent in their thinking and are able to represent themselves more effectively if they are independent, should be accepted and recognized by the whole world. One cannot force a French person to become German or a Czech citizen to become Spanish or a Polish citizen to become Russian, similarly, one should also not force an Urdu-speaking citizen to become Sindhi.

Urdu language is much different from Sindhi language. Not only language, there is glaring difference in terms of culture, traditions, national character, vision, approach, mindset and above all religious thinking.

Urdu-speaking people cannot be forced to stay with Sindhis forever and without their own right of freedom. Both Urdu-speaking people and Sindhis deserve their respective identities through formation of Jinnahpur and Sindhudesh. Both these nations are not ready to remain under the umbrella of socalled Pakistan which is nothing but a political colony of Punjab.

If other separatist movements in the world are accepted and acknowledged worldwide, movement for a free and independent state for Urdu-speaking people should also be embraced by the United States of America and other Western nations. If Kosovo can get independence in 21st century, why not Urdu-speaking people of Pakistan can get their own country called Republic of Jinnahpur.

33. Support President Musharraf: PLEASE don't go!

This is a petition drawn up in light of the recent events in Pakistan. It seems the opposition parties after winning the majority of seats are intent on making President Musharraf resign. Through this petition ordinary Pakistanis make an impassioned plea to President Musharraf to NOT RESIGN!

As ordinary Pakistani citizens it is heartbreaking to see that former political leaders such as Nawaz Shareef and Asif Ali Zardari back in power. It is these same people whose previous rule was characterised by intense corruption, mismanagement and dazzling incompetence. They looted and plundered the country.

Nawaz Sharif’s incompetent government and Benazir’s corruption (wife of Mr. Zardari who is popularly known in Pakistan as 'Mr. 10%') left Pakistan in a dismal state. Thus prior to Musharraf’s debut on the stage of Pakistani politics in 1999,

* The country was almost bankrupt;
* Pakistan was on the verge of being declared a “failed” and “terrorist” nation;
* It was listed as being the second most corrupt nation in the world (the first being Nigeria)
* During the time of Benazir and Sharif, the KSE 100 index was less than 1300. Now it is over 12000.
* Atrocities such as judicial killings of opponents took place shamelessly throughout Pakistan, particularly in Karachi, for which Benazir and Sharif were both primarily responsible.

During President Musharraf's rule Pakistan's economy has seen unprecedented growth. Corruption is at an all time low and large-scale development is taking place all over Pakistan, with a significant amount of construction going on in Karachi and areas of Baluchistan. Moreover, Musharraf is the only leader of Pakistan who has taken a strong stance against religious extremism.

This is a crucial stage in Pakistan's history and we need Musharraf to help us through this phase. We, the people of Pakistan are sick and tired of seeing our national wealth looted and our country mismanaged by incompetent and satanic politicians such as Zardari and Nawaz Shareef.

34. Benazir Bhutto Assassination Inquiry by United Nations

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." -- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Freedom, Peace and Justice loving people around the globe demand United Nations to order independent investigation into the brutal assassination of Former Prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s in Pakistan.

His Excellency
Ban Ki-moon
Secretary-General United Nations
UN Headquarters
First Avenue at 46th Street
New York, NY 10017

The Honorable Benazir Bhutto - twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, first woman ever elected head of a nation in the Muslim world and the Chairperson of Pakistan’s largest grassroots’ political party “Pakistan Peoples Party” (AKA-PPP) was mysteriously and savagely assassinated after her addressing a huge public rally in “Liaqat Park” Rawal-Pindi (Pakistan) at 4.16 p.m. on December 27, 2007 standing through the sunroof of her armored land-cruiser License No- BF-7772 waving to the cheering crowed.

Benazir Bhutto was undoubtedly a peoples' princess, she loved people and people loved her. She had a strong conviction in democracy, rule of law and supremacy of constitution. She was much larger than life and a charismatic icon loved by millions around the globe. All her life she struggled and fought for the rights of poor masses of Pakistan, for equal opportunity, social and economic justice, hope and a secure future. She was a passionate Advocate and an avid preacher of Islamic cherished values of tolerance, compassion, universal brotherhood and love.

She spoke with courage, resolve and determination against injustice, extremism, terror and fanaticism. Feudal lords, extremists and political mafia in Pakistan did not like her liberating the people from poverty and ignorance and her popularity was potential threat to the ruling party and hate mongers who took her life.

35. President Musharraf should resign

I think we all know what Pakistan is going through.

We all know what it is heading towards and we will not watch like cowards.

To all those people who love, admire and respect Pakistan. My friends, in today’s date, are we able to say “I AM PROUD TO BE A PAKISTANI” ? Ask yourselves and you will know the answer. Of course, one should burn in hell before he/she says they are not proud of Pakistan.

But can we not do something, can we not be of some use. We all love our country because we fought for our independence.

37. Benazir Bhutto : May Her Soul Rest in Peace

Pakistan former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has died after a suicide bombing that killed at least 14 of her supporters, ex-government spokesman Tariq Azim Khan and Pakistan's primary television networks said.

Bhutto is helped from her vehicle following the October 18 suicide attack on her motorcade.

1 of 2 Bhutto suffered bullet wounds in the aftermath of the bomb attack, TV networks report.

Video of the scene just moments before the explosion showed Bhutto stepping into a heavily-guarded vehicle to leave the rally.

Khan said while it appeared Bhutto was shot, it was unclear if her bullet wounds were caused by a shooting or shrapnel from the bomb.

The suicide attack left at least 14 dead and 40 injured, Khan told CNN in a telephone interview.

The attacker is said to have detonated a bomb as he tried to enter the rally where thousands of people gathered to hear Bhutto speak, police said.

Video from the scene of the blast broadcast from Geo TV showed wounded people being loaded into ambulances.

Up to 20 people are dead, the report said.

Earlier, four supporters of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif died when members of another political party opened fire on them at a rally near the Islamabad airport Friday, local police said.

Several other members of Sharif's party were wounded, police added.

While President Pervez Musharraf has promised free and fair parliamentary elections next month, continued instability in the tribal areas and the threat of attack on large crowds has kept people from attending political rallies and dampened the country's political process.

Campaigners from various political groups say fewer people are coming out to show their support due to government crackdowns and the threat of violence.

38. Release of Baloch Leader

Mr. Sardar Akhtar Mengal is former chief minister of Balochistan province and he is head of Balochistan Nationalist Party. Akhtar Mengal has been detained and kept in an isolated cell in a prison in Karachi since November 2006, and denied justice.

Mr. Mengal's Illegal detention and unnecessary delays in his case have exposed the inequality and courts' inability to act without being influenced by the executive in Pakistan.

Mr. Mengal has not been arrested on charges of corruption, nor misuse of power. He is not an industrialist, not a bank defaulter and isn't involved in any land scam, like many pro-establishment politicians of Pakistan.

Article 25 of the Pakistan's Constitution says: "All citizens are equal before law and are entitled to equal protection of law…" According to Article 5 of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination: "States parties undertake to prohibit and to eliminate racial discrimination in all its forms and to guarantee the right of everyone, without distinction as to race, colour, or national or ethnic origin, to equality before the law, notably in the enjoyment of the following rights: (a) The right to equal treatment before the tribunals and all other organs administering justice…"

However, in the last five years the Baloch people have not been treated according to national and international laws. Neither constitutional guarantees nor any court of law has protected their fundamental rights.

Akhtar Mengal is not being tried in an open court and on the wishes of the executive he is produced in the court in a humiliating manner.

Mr Mengal and 500 other Balochistan National Party activists were arrested in November 2006 before President Musharraf's visit to Balochistan to prevent the BNP from holding a peaceful long march against the military operation, illegal arrests and forced disappearances.

We appeal through this petition that rulers in Pakistan must abide by the domestic and international covenants, respect the rights of national minorities and stop intimidating and dishonouring the Baloch and their political representatives. There should be open and fair trial, which is also in the interest of the government.

The Baloch should not be discriminated, they are part of the federation and have equal rights according to the Constitution.

40. Drop Charges Against Members Of The Punjab University

Dear Friends:

As part of the crackdown on protests against emergency/martial law, the Government of Pakistan recently brought sedition charges against fourteen faculty members of the Punjab University (Lahore, Pakistan). These charges were in response to the faculty members speaking out and organizing a protest walk on their campus against the imposition of emergency rule (martial law) in Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan has also issued a ban on political discussions and debates on campuses, which is a violation of one of the most basic tenets of academic freedom.

Most of you must by now be familiar with the vanguard role played by members of the Pakistani judiciary in the current political struggle against dictatorship. The unprecedented expression of solidarity by members of the international law community has been extremely important in building up the pressure against the Pakistani government, and in keeping up the spirits of the lawyers and their family members. Students (and educators) comprise the next largest group of protesters and so are being targeted in similarly illegal and brutal ways. This is a call to school and college/university faculty, academic unions and organizations to express their solidarity with the above mentioned faculty members of Punjab University as well as all those being targeted by the Pakistani state, and to demand that the government drop these charges immediately.

It should be noted that even when emergency rule is lifted, these and other such charges will not be automatically dropped nor will the dissenting judges be restituted. Please sign the petition and forward to others, and please consider creating faculty/student solidarity committees on your campus, and issuing separate letters of protest and solidarity. It is imperative at this stage to get as many signatures as possible, as well as to send as many letters/faxes/emails to the individuals and institutions listed below as possible. You can sign the petition at http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/drop-charges-against-members-of-the-punjab-university.html. When ever or who ever have tried to organize a demonstration have been detained and harassed by the police - not only the organizers but also children, women and elders who are participating in the demonstrations are harassed and detained.

The media are not allowed to show the truth - they were approached by Government to sign a agreement on what they could show on TV - GEO and ARY refused, today, on the 16.11.2007 after tremendous pressure from Musharaf both channels has closed!

Musharaf is doing what ever he can do to hide the truth!

45. Cancel GEO subscriptions

1. Dis-Honest reporting.
All the reporting since last couple of months has been negative for Pakistan. Not a single time any thing positive reported through this channel. It is to the extent that since last 2-3 days in their english tx they are persuading Western public that they should stop all the aid to Pakistan.
Our opinion: No matter what ever rifts are within ourselves we never ask foreign countries to hurt Pakistan financially and economically. Only enemies of Pakistan will do this.

2. Disseminating Anarchy/Chaos/ Confusion:
Since last couple of months. As you can notice even in last 2-3 days all they have reported about protests and only views of people talking against present govt. We agree that Emergency/Martial Law are one of the most dangerous and horrible actions taken by any govt. We all condemn this BUT it does not mean that the so called media portrays like there is major unrest in Pakistan (when it isn"t) and it is at the brink of collapse. This is giving a very alarming and negative picture over here.
In fact you can realize yourself that all these Jalsa juloos are happening in front of the courts. Only a fraction of lawyers are involved or might be majority of lawyers may be involved. There is no other opinion that what ever is happening over there is not good. But on the other hand 99% of the country is open, school, colleges, factories, offices are open. Public seems to be not involved up-until now. This news can only be obtained if you call your home where you will find out that nothing is going on in the cities. We have not seen a single report which says that majority of Pakistan is calm and quite.

At this difficult time we need to advise the civil society / political parties / govt to resolve issues within themselves and join hands with each other to first fight this cancer of religious extremism and fanaticism and hold elections ASAP.

Actually media should play a positive roll to resolve the situation instead of puting more fuel in the fire. Instead media specially GEO TV is determined to de-stablize Pakistan at any cost to please their masters we don"t know where from.

The GEO reporters and anchors are physically and verbally persuading public to come out on streets. This is not the job of media to give an opinion. Their job is to report all the aspects without any prejudices and reservations.

We the concern American Pakistani citizens of USA therefore as the first action choose to UNSUBSCRIBE the anti Pakistani Channel GEO TV with immediate effect and announce to form a watch group to monitor other pakistani channels closely. Please join us in efforts to save Pakistan from this yellow journalism and blackmailing.
We will send a copy of this e-mail to Geo TV and ARY also.

Again, it's good to be a wise ulloo than a stupid loomri. (majority of us have PTV at our homes Al-Hamdolillah).

48. We oppose the National Reconciliation Ordinance enacted in Pakistan

Following email message for Geneva chief prosecutor Daniel Zappelli was sent to info@justice.ge.ch (the only address for Swiss Justice Ministry available) on 19 October 2007 and having not received any acknowledgement in this regard again the email was forwarded to same address with a copy to van.vertretung@eda.admin.ch (the Consulate General of Switzerland in Vancouver, BC, Canada) with a humble request to direct my email to the concerned Swiss authority and also requested an acknowledgement receipt to this message, but till today i.e. 6 November, 2007 there is no response from any Swiss authority.

All readers are requested to:

1- Please speak out and let your voices be heard world wide.

2- Remember "The best Jihad is speaking out in front of a tyrant".

3- SUPPORT THE PAKISTAN YOUTH MOVEMENT BY WEARING BLACK ARMBANDS TILL THE TIME TRUE DEMOCRACY AND RULE OF LAW IS RESTORED.

4- Support this online petition.

5- Please also email it to concerned Swiss authorities on above mentioned email addresses or, if known, to more appropriate Swiss or Spanish Govt. email addresses.

The email message which was sent is appended as under:

This email is for Geneva chief prosecutor Daniel Zappelli, sent to the address above, as I could not find his direct email address.

Mr. Zappelli, I read on the web today that Swiss investigative Judge Vincent Fournier has wrapped up his report in the long running case of alleged money laundering by former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ms Benazir Bhutto and her husband.

I have also read that the report compiled into the whole affair has been passed over to the Geneva chief prosecutor Daniel Zappelli. Sir, you are going to make a decision as if to further prosecute or close the file because President Gen Pervez Musharraf has granted an amnesty to protect Ms Bhutto from corruption charges at home.

President Musharraf, who has been consistently declaring for over 8 years Ms Bhutto as the "biggest plunderer and looter" of the national wealth, but has now issued this amnesty as a political bribe to extend his undemocratic rule.

Pakistan is a signatory country to UN charter agreement on anti-corruption and I believe that your country, Switzerland, is also the signatory to this. No matter how the political expediencies in third world countries force the law enforcement to look the other way or unjustly victimize the opponents whenever convenient, but the western societies obey the justice system even if the alleged criminal sits at a very high pedestal in the society.

Sir, I urge and plead to your to uphold the justice and proceed with this case, no matter the Govt. of Pakistan has backed out. If you need a complainant then I being A Pakistani Citizen currently residing in Canada standby the original complaint of corruption and money laundering against the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Ms Benazir Bhutto and her husband.

I request you to consider this email as a formal complaint. If you require any personal information about me or a signed petition requiring a minimum number of complainants, in order to pursue this matter to its ultimate conclusion, then please let me know of any such requirements and I shall provide it to you at the earliest.

Sir, I humbly request you, please do not let this corruption and money laundering case go to a cold storage or dismissed because of non perusal by the Govt. of Pakistan. I believe in innocence of a person charged of a crime until pronounced guilty or otherwise after due process. That is why I again humbly request you to let the justice prevail at all costs and let us all bring this matter to an end in such a way that the whole world would see the JUSTICE SERVED THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SERVED.

Thanking you,

49. Support Musharraf: Emergency was required

People are encouraged to read through and sign as this is NOT a petition in favor of outright military rule, but one that supports the measures taken by Musharraf to eradicate corruption and place Pakistan on the right path to democracy. As Pakistanis, we must appreciate a man who has confronted corruption and created a system under which the voice of the people can be heard.

Pervez Musharraf has been the centre of a lot of criticism lately, and this petition is an attempt to show support for his vision and rule in Pakistan. We understand some actions by the current government in Pakistan are drastic and some may argue against them, but it is up to us to realize the ground realities and act responsibly in deciding who to support. Opposition parties are exploiting the mass public by using democracy as an excuse to regain power and destabilize a government that has achieved a lot in the last eight years. Religion is also being used by some in the media to incite the public, which has gone about its daily routine with no interest to come out on the streets. Objectivity amongst reporters on international broadcasts of Pakistani news is rare. This is an attempt to show that there is a large movement that supports the President. Outlined below are highlights of Musharraf’s achievements, there is a section on reasons for imposition of emergency rule as well.

POSITION ON OPPOSITION PARTIES

Nawaz Sharif’s incompetent government and Benazir’s corruption (wife of Mr. Zardari who is popularly known in Pakistan as 'Mr. 10%') left Pakistan in a dismal state. Thus prior to Musharraf’s debut on the stage of Pakistani politics in 1999,

* The country was almost bankrupt;
* Pakistan was on the verge of being declared a “failed” and “terrorist” nation;

MUSHARAF’S ACHIEVEMENTS

Under Musharraf’s regime since 1999, Pakistan has experienced tremendous growth and seen record improvement in its overall condition.

* From being #2 on the list of corrupt nations, Pakistan is now #138 – a remarkable improvement.
* Compared to being nearly bankrupt less than a decade ago, Pakistan now has reserves of close to $16 billion, and is still growing.
* Corruption has been virtually eliminated from the upper levels and significantly reduced in the lower levels.
* Musharraf actively confronted terrorism in Pakistan and employed several schemes to eradicate it from our country.
* Large-scale development is taking place all over Pakistan, with a significant amount of construction going on in Karachi and areas of Baluchistan. Previously, these areas were largely neglected, with Baluchistan left to the mercy of warlords for much of the history of Pakistan.
* Tax recovery is at an all time high.
* Pakistan’s media has flourished with Musharraf’s permittance and encouragement.
* Devolution of power- Musharraf brought the Nazim System and gave powers to the local representatives at the lowest level.
* Women's representation used to be 3.2%. Musharraf made a landmark decision and appointed 33% seats to be reserved for women in all three tiers of the local government and 17% in the national and provincial legislatures. (This also resulted in Pakistan being recognized as the country with the greatest progress in women’s representation within parliament in a comparison study of South Asian politics.)
* President Musharraf was awarded the White Ribbon Man of the Year Award 2006, in recognition of the tremendous support to the cause of women’s rights in Pakistan.
* Pakistan’s relations with India have also significantly improved. Previously, India refused to acknowledge the territory of Kashmir as a 'dispute'. As a result of Musharraf's diplomacy, Kashmir is today acknowledged as a disputed territory and both sides are working towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

These are remarkable achievements in an 8 year timeframe. This is not to say that things are perfect; much work still needs to be done. But, Pakistan, under Musharraf, has been heading towards the right direction and this momentum should continue. He has addressed the root cause of problems in the country thus building a foundation for democracy to prosper. The measures taken under this regime are an attempt to reform Pakistani society with a high emphasis on education. One cannot educate a nation overnight; it takes time and honest commitment. We cannot let corrupt politicians ruin 8 years of hard work.

53. Restoration of Democracy and an Independent Judiciary

Over several weeks, President Musharraf has been interfering with the judiciary. Over the last two weeks there has been protests across Pakistan, last weekend(12th May 2007) Musharraf and his political allies deliberately arranged counter rallies to stop the sacked Chief Justice from speaking to the lawyers in Karachi.

The Chief justice, together with some of the lawyers accompanying him to the meeting in Karachi were stopped at Karachi airport and held hostage as a result of the violence perpetrated by Musharraf's allies in Karachi. The chief justice and his party were forced to return to Islamabad without attending the meeting. As a result of the disturbances engineered b pro-Musharraf forces and government bodies in Karachi over forty people lost their lives over the weekend.

This is unacceptable. We among other democratic and civil organisations, including lawyers associations are demanding a restoration of democracy and non-interference by the military in civil and judiciary processes.

54. Artists for The National Art Gallery

The National Art Gallery of Pakistan, Islamabad which is the largest, most significant art project for the Visual Art community in 6 decades is treatened by the following actions of the National Council of The Arts:

-Its name has been changed from the National Art Gallery to The Pakistan Center of Creative Arts.

- Its galleries dedicated to old masters have been handed over to be used as rehearsal rooms for performing arts.

-Very important office space for various departments needed to run a gallery efficiently have been handed over to performing art personnel.

-The auditorium designed for seminars and debates has been refurbished as a performing arts threatre.

These actions are illegal as the Performing Arts already has a 400 acre plot next to the National Art Gallery and instead of giving priority to building a custom build performing arts facility, a gross encroachment of the National Art Gallery is taking place.

56. Wage war against terrorism in India

This petition is to pressurise Government of India, International community to form a group for a massive anti-terrorism operation.

On 11th july 2006 terrorism struck and again on Mumbai (India).Seven Local trains were blown up not in one but at seven different places of mumbai within a span of 15 minutes, leaving more than 190 killed and 700 wounded.

These blasts were followed by blast in Srinagar(Jammu & kashmir),a regular feature in srinagar. While the Assam blast(JUNE 08) and varanasi blast(march 7)are still afresh in the minds of people.

Terrorist attacks have become regular feature in most of the countries including america, Britain,India Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, afghanistan. In month of May, maharashtra police arrested 3 terrorists belonging to LeT (Lashkar-e-tayyaba) and SIMI with 33 kg of RDX,but one car and two of its accomplice managed to escape.

So it was clear that the person who escaped must have been carrying RDX. This should have immediately raised the alarm to protect the nearest important city which is mumbai, but the government did not take careful notice of it and the result is out now.

Two weeks back NSCS(National security council secretarait) official S S Paul was arrested for his involvement in espionage. The above incidences suggest a strong failure of India's Intelligence bureau.

Morever, government is unable to arrest terrorists like Dawood Ibrahim(mastermind of mumbai blast 1993) who is hiding in Pakistan and Abusalem, another prime accused of mumbai blast-1993 who is under custody is not yet proved guilty. And above all banned terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda, LeT, Jaish-e-mohammad, ULFA are creating
attacks on a regular basis.

A recent rise of terrorism in bangladesh is going strong day by day. This shows that either the government is going soft on terrorist based
policies, or is inefficient or are insufficient in their resources to nab them.

Now time has come for India to give its reply to terrorism. India should give an example of its crusader-terrorism image example by arresting Dawood Ibrahim, trying abu salem, Babloo srivastava.

Other nations and oranisations like united nations and other countries should support india and work together to launch massive operation against terrorism.

57. Keep SAURAV GANGULY in India's test squad

December 15, 2005

In a bizarre move the Indian selectors dropped Sourav Ganguly for the third Test against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad.

The deposed India captain was given just three innings to prove his worth, out of which he performed in two. But the selectors felt he was no longer needed in the team.

Everyone who saw Ganguly's performance in the two Tests he played against the Sri Lankans will certainly feel the sacking is unfair. The left-hander had worked hard in the nets and the results showed not only in his batting but also his improved fitness and fielding.

He is 33, but one feels he has a couple of years of cricket left in him. He still boasts of a healthy average of around 40 in both versions of the game and is known to win games on his own, when in top form. He was so upset with the decision that he could not stop tears rolling down his cheeks, said a close friend of Sourav speaking to the media.

Do you agree with the selectors' decision to drop Ganguly? Well the answer is NO.

So to voice your protest against the injustice done against SAURAV GANGULY please sign the following petition.

Please sign the petition and forward it to all your friends in the address book. Signatures will be sent to the president His Excellency A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who is also a great cricket fan.

Your co-operation may result in SAURAV's inclusion in the team during the Pakistan tour.

58. Abolish Special Status for Jammu and Kashmir

The Government of India has always considered the state of Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of the Republic yet its own policy of special status for the state prevents the state from integrating into the country.

By barring Indian citizens from settling in the States, the assimilation of the state is hampered. Moreover considering Pakistan has accelerated interstate immigration into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the initial intent of preserving the demographics of the state for a plebescite is no longer valid.

If J&K is to one day be a prosperous and integrated state in India, the special status of the state should be repealed.

59. Withdraw Canadian Citizenship from Canadians who endorse terror

March 24, 2004

This petition is in response to a growing concern that the Canadian government is merely paying lip service to the problem of terrorists and terrorist support/logistics in Canada.

In 1995 the then Prime Minister Jean Chretien personally intervened on behalf of a Canadian citizen, Ahmed Said Khadr who was being held in a Pakistani jail on charges relating to the bombing of the Egyptian Embassy in Islamabad. He had moved his family to Afghanistan and befriended Osama Bin Laden yet denied links to terror.

While living with Bin Laden in Afghanistan, they raised money in Canada amongst Muslims who were told they were aiding Afghan orphans. They had their sons trained in Al Qaeda camps to handle guns and explosives. They encouraged them to become martyrs for Islam, even suicide bombers. They nursed their hatred for Americans.

In 2001, in a grotesque family get together, they celebrated with "smiling, laughing" when Al Qaeda-comandeered jets slammed into the World Trade Center and other sites killing 3000 including 23 Canadians. Yet even today years after leaving Canada and five months after Ahmad was killed in a battle with Pakistani troops after being identified as an Al Qaeda founder and financier, his wife Maha finds her Canadian citizenship handy.

Incredibly, from Pakistan she is pressing Ottawa to issue her and her children new passports so they can roam the world armed with their extremist views. One son, Abdul Karim was paralyzed in the battle in Pakistan that killed his father; another, Abdullah, is in hiding in Pakistan; and a third, Omar is in the American detention centre in Cuba as an "enemy combatant" for killing a U.S. Army medic with a grenade. A Daughter, Zaynab, is with the mother.
"We are an Al Qaeda family", a fourth son, Abdurahman, flatly told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

He admitted to the Toronto Star he had been "lying to everyone up until this point" about his role in the saga. Upon his release from detention in Cuba, Abdurahman was flown to europe and released. He made his way to Pakistan where he contacted his Canadian relatives. They made an appeal to the Canadian government and once again a Canadian Prime Minister (this time Paul Martin) intervened and made a public statement that if Abdurahman made his way to a Canadian consulate, he would be "welcome" to return to Canada.

These repeated interventions by the Canadian government to help known terrorists holding Canadian citizenship is damaging the credibility of Canada as a nation that can be counted on in the war on terror. In addition these actions are needlessly advertising Canada has a gullible weak link to be exploited by terrorist groups wishing to operate unhindered here.

Thirdly it increases the risk to public safety and implants doubt in the minds of Canadians that the Canadian government is taking a proactive approach to preventing future terrorist attacks on Canadian soil.
