31. Back The Venus Project Backed By The Zeitgeist Community

My belief is that the society that we currently live in is clearly failing. The solutions that have been brought are not correcting the problem but just putting it among the next generation to bear suffer with, and solve.

We as a society must drive for the success of the Venus project which is backed by the zeitgeist community as well as the best possible solution to the environmental problems as well as an alternate government rather then democracy.

32. Congress here's your last chance or your fired

Congress has held out on making us energy independent, and we are now spending 700 billion dollars a year to countries that do not even care for our values for energy.

It is now time that our elected officals represent our people and our intrest and immediatly make us energy independent instead of us continuing to send these Billions of dollars to those terriest states.

33. Vote of No-Confidence in Nancy Pelosi

In response to our massive energy crisis, Nancy Pelosi refuses to budge from her blocking of off-shore drilling.

Instead of steering a responsible course towards locating new sources of oil until alternative energy sources can be developed further, she advocates tapping into our strategic oil reserves, a spendthrift measure that steals the future from our children and affords only a very short-term benefit for the present.

Instead of cooperating with the White House to develop a responsible energy policy, she demeans our system with outrageous personal attacks and divisive political maneuvers in an intensity never seen before.

Please vote your lack of confidence in Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi by signing this Petition.

34. Stop the plans for the three month moratorium

We need a petiton here in Colorado!

As Many of you know, Gas prices have been rising substantially over the course of the last two to three years. What you may not know, is that the United States of America has an abundance of oil in Alaska and elsewhere. The problem is that the EPA have protected the Alaskan terrain as national park land, and therefore, cannot permit drilling and now here in Western Colorado, Wyoming and Utah has an abundance of oil, natural gas and oil shale.

"Here on the Western Slope, we're an on an island and we're blessed," said State Senator Josh Penry. "And a big reason why is because we have billions of dollars in new investment in the energy sector."

"I can say if they're implemented as currently written today, you will see a mass exodus out of the state," said Ken Leis, owner of Laramie Energy.

"If these rules go into effect, I see Colorado going by the wayside and seventy-thousand plus people going to another state," said Glenn Moltrer, President of the Trinidad Chamber of Commerce and an energy developer himself.

The commission is considering a 90 day halt on all oil and gas drilling in a large portion of Western Colorado to help protect wildlife that some studies suggest are dwindling in number.

The wildlife? Give me a break. A lot of you enviros go out every year and put the sites of your rifles on Bambie and pull the trigger.

"You go to any restaurant, any bank, any business in the world and say what happens to your business if you shut it down for ninety days -- they'll tell you they're not going to do business there anymore," said Senator Penry.

We need to fight for domestic oil and gas Co's. They are the entity that will free us from being under the Mideastern's thumb. There are environmentally friendly ways to drill where needed regardless of what the enviro's want.

And here comes from one of the biggest problems here in Colorado Rep. Buescher...

"If we can have slow steady growth over the next twenty years, the economy of Mesa County can remain healthy, we can have a lot of good quality jobs and we can protect our environment," said Rep. Buescher.

Huh?
A new set of rules by August is expected by the State Legislature and then needs to be approved before the rules go into effect.

What does that mean? If they don't back off, there will be nothing, as in the 80's. Does Black Sunday ring any bells? The companies that will move out if not left alone from the absurd sanctions that the enviros want to be passed.

We need to fight back against the enviros here. Why you ask?

1. Unethical oil greed and pricing, and how it also lines the pockets of governments that support terrorism.
2. Employment - Struggling families who depend on Oil and Gas Companies for their income.
3. Local economy - Can be affected by an unemployment scenario of layoffs and business closings. Not to mention an increase of illegal activity.
4. Housing market - A sharp increase of foreclosures with much of the population moving away for opportunities elsewhere.

Why we need to fight back?

We need to unite against government lead Socialism here at home. And we need to stop it cold!

We have until August to get something going. Please sign the petition.

35. Lower the gas prices today

We as Citiznes of the United States of America are sick and tired of paying top dollar for our gasoline.

Back in the 90's I remember gas prices being less than $1 per gallon, todate we are being charged $4 per gallon and sometime even more. And if you drive a high-performance vehicle, you will need premium gasoline, you'll be paying atleast $4.25 per gallon.

As of June 2008, I am seeing the lower gas prices being $3.99, and often $4.09 per gallon, you would lucky to get it for $3.99 today.

36. Start Drilling In Alaska Now

As Many of you know, Gas prices have been rising substantially over the course of the last two to three years.

What you may not know, is that the United States of America has an abundance of oil in Alaska and elsewhere. The problem is that the Environmental Protection Agencies have protected the Alaskan terrain as national park land, and therefore, cannot permit drilling.

As the Middle Eastern countries are being less than cooperative, with gas at $4.22 a gallon and rising, something must be done.

37. Save the North Pole and Polar Bears

As you all may know that oil and gas prices have hit an all-time high this year because of the shortages of fossil fuels. Now all of the gases are in the atmosphere and causing global warming and making the North Pole melt.

And if it melts then many species are going along with it--including the polar bear, which is endanged already. Some governments dont care. They're now fighting over who gets all of the oil that lays beneath all the layers of ice that will soon be gone if we don't do anything. There is casual media talk of vast oil and gas troves beneath the Arctic Ocean.

Russia estimates range up to 10 billion tons, but no one really know for sure. Ideally, in 50 years, the Arctic Ocean will be what it is today, a remote wilderness where God's cold and silence reign. I don't want any species living there to go extinct because of our horrible mistakes. I say that the governments come up with a different way to make our machines run. They could use water, solar, hydrogen or wind energy. They haven't even tried it for all we know. They could try it before doing anything drastic.

Have you ever thought about how much water there would be if the ice caps melted?

It would be like the edges of all the continents filling in slowly, out to in! So do something! Because if that happens even more species will go along with that!!!

So save the North Pole and Polar Bears!!

*Countries that want the oil include: The U.S., Canada, Norway, Denmark (via Greenland), and Russia.*

38. Tax My Gas, Please!

OPEC thinks that because our economies are built around oil, the demand for oil is elastic there they can control the supply side and therefore control the oil price. We will show them that we have the motivation and strength to break our addiction and we will.

We will ally ourselves with other oil importing countries all over the globe to form OPIC(Organization of Petroleum Importing Countries). We will collectively levy an anti-cartel sales tax of 30% or more on gas at the pump. Some of our potential allies already do so, like the EU. While others, like China and India, has oil policy similar to USA; they should be persuaded for their own interest to join OPIC and control their burgeoning hunger for oil.

For a short time, the gasoline price will go up to $5-$6. But in the long term, taxing gas may ironically help gas price come down, by reducing demand and by stimulating the development of gas alternatives. In addition, the high gas tax policy has the added benefit of modulating the wild swing of gasoline prices, reducing speculation on oil prices, and hence reduce devastating effect of oil price swing on business planning and investment.

The revenue from 30%+ gas at more than $150 billion a year can be spent for any or all of following:
1. investment in alternative energy R/D and infrastructure
2. development of public transportation and energy conservation efforts
3. alleviate the gas tax's disproportionate effect on working class by giving back as tax rebate, not tied to gas, but free to spend on any thing.
4. reduce budget deficit and strenthen the dollar

This policy will likely have the best effect on oil price, if applied in conjunction with other OPIC countries. However individual state governments and countries can still go it alone and spearhead the implementation. In fact EU countries have long adopted a high gas tax policy and used the revenue to support public transportation and education, and today are leaders in many areas of renewable energy.

40. Stop Palm Oil Plantations

Millions of hectares of natural rainforest in Indonesia are being destroyed, right as you read this, for palm oil plantations.

Not only is this detrimental for the environment, but for the animals that require this forest for homes and habitats.

Two endangered species, the orangutan and the Sumatran Tiger, are being driven from their homes, forced into villages looking for food and shelter, where they are captured and killed.

41. Conico Phillips: stop contaminating water wells

Our water wells are being contaminated with oil or leaking oil. These water wells were drilled years before Conico/Phillips came onto the scene. Before Conico/Phillips started drilling around our properties water was drinkable and ok for bathing.

We have noticed that the water has become salty and undrinkable and our hair has started to feel greasy or lost its texture.

42. Stop Accelerating Gas Prices

In the past year the gas has risen from $1.98 to now going on $3.00 per 9/10 of a gallon. The prices of gas is increasing but the wages are remaining the same.

Gas prices are accerlating so fast that it is becoming a choice between buying gas to maintain a job or using that money for something that may be more important. Most families or even individuals that do not have jobs high up in industries are struggling to pay for what they need to continue to make work. Riding a bus, bike, or even walking is just not an option for some people. I may self can not carry three children on a bus to get somewhere on my own.

My cousin happens to work 1-2 hours from her job and can not walk, or ride a bike to get there. Buses only run until 5-6pm in most states. This keeps people from getting home safely. Taking a Taxi is just as expensive as buying gas for one's own car.

Many people own cars that use a lot of gas, but they still can not afford to buy a car that saves on one. So once again the prices of gas have just become a nuisance.

46. Ontario Gas Prices Are Too High!

This petition has been created to give a voice to each and every one of us that pay for gasoline in the province of Ontario.

The price of gasoline is absolutely taking a toll on families and businesses alike. The alternative to driving a vehicle just simply isn't an option for many car owners and therefore we are FORCED to pay outrageous gas prices with no reprieve.

The FACT is, MANY Ontarians cannot make their way to WORK if they are forced to pay these gas prices. Everything will suffer as a result of this.

We are asking for your help to ease the financial strain that the high gas prices are causing to the residents of Ontario.

47. Defy the "most damaging project in the Amazon Basin"

March 7, 2004

Just below the point where the Andes first begin to rise out of the Amazon Forest, the Urubamba River enters one of the most isolated places on earth.

This still un-exploited and largely un-charted region of Amazonia is partially protected by Manu National Park on its edge; past the far border of the national park and at the center of the forest is the Nahua-Kugapakori Indian Reservation. This land was granted by the Peruvian government to the thousands of indigenous people of that area.

Due to the inaccessability of the region, some of these people are still largely or even totally unaware of the outside world, that they are living on an Indian reservation, or that the country of Peru even exists. Also, due to the inaccessibility, stability, and natural-history of this area, the lower Urubamba river country has been proclaimed by numerous studies as the most biologically diverse on earth -- home to numerous ecosystem levels from lowland to cloud forests, rare black caimans, trees that -- according to legend -- walk on their roots, and the headwaters of the Amazon.

In the words of one study, the lower Urubamba is ¨the last place on earth¨ where anybody should be drilling for fossil fuels. Yet, inexplicably, in this heart of hearts of the Amazon Rainforest, the massive Camisea Gas Mega-Project is about to step in.

This project´s major corporate beneficiaries are White House connected Hunt Oil and Cheney subsidiary Halliburton Co.; both of these companies have terrifying, blundering environmental track records.

Their plan is to build platforms, roads and two pipelines from a huge concession in the middle of the forest and through the rugged Vilcabamba mountains, parts of which may have been untouched by human feet until explorers arrived in the 1960´s. 75 percent of Camisea platforms will likely be built in the Nahua-Kugapakori Reserve; this will not only disrupt the centuries-old ways of life of three or more nomadic tribes -- it also has historically meant, and is currently meaning, death for these people.

Though environmental impact reports have not been satisfactorily completed, construction in the lower Urubamba area is already well underway, with little or no supervision. Massive erosion is ensuing.

Environmental disruption has caused fish and wildlife to die off or disappear. This is not only a ripple of biological and ecological tragedy, it means isolated societies inside and outside of the reservation are now facing, possibly for the first time, that pre-imminent feature of our society - preventable chronic malnutrition.

At the same time, Camisea operatives are, for reasons of project productivity, actively and forcibly contacting uncontacted and voluntarily isolated tribes, in violation of the United Nations ILO Convention 169. This is ostensibly to sidestep the skirmishes which usually ensue in projects such as their´s, but the local peoples vulnerability is being actively -- and probably purposefully -- ignored.

However I, and we the undersigned, refuse to ignore the plight of these people and their land.

We are,

1) bearing in mind both the global and continent-wide environmental impact of pipe-line rupture, erosion, cultural degredation, and road building in the Urubamba.

2) bearing in mind that the Nahua tribe, first contacted in the 1980's during gas exploration in the region, lost nearly fifty-percent of its members to influenza and whooping cough epidemics in the few years following, and that now, as contact once again escalates in the latest stage of the project, stable, isolated or recently contacted tribes are once again being moved in upon by imported gastro-intestinal and respiratory diseases -- to which these Amazonian Indians still have no resistence.

We refuse to allow this project to continue -- it is not to late to stop it if we don´t give up!
