The government’s Higher Education White Paper threatens our institutions with an unprecedented wave of privatisation modelled on the disastrous experience of the US for-profit sector.

The NUS strategy is defeatist, calling for a review of the impact of the White Paper following its implementation – as if this is a given – and asserting the need for student collaboration with the private sector.

Yet across the higher education sector there is growing opposition to the White paper – from the 20 000 people who have signed the ‘no confidence’ motion in David Willetts, to the Campaign for the Public University, to the UCU. In 2010 hundreds of thousands of school, FE and university students opposed fees increases – the White Paper is about making the new fees regime work.

All this offers an opportunity for a mass campaign against the government which can defeat the White Paper.

It should be the role of the elected leadership to find creative ways to unite and encourage broad opposition, not to demobilise it. Crucial to this is naming what we are against. For these reasons, castigating calls for the scrapping of the White Paper as “ridiculous” and claiming this would not “mean anything” is self-defeating posturing.

The strategy outlined by NUS underestimates the scale of attack on public education and the breadth of opposition, and overestimates the power of the government. An alternative that strives for maximum possible unity across the sector is needed. A starting point should be the following:

We understand that there is money to be made and you can make it in the Oil Business ! But the people that buy are so poor that they can barely feed there families or even heat or keep there homes these days let alone pay there medical bills God for bid they have any.

(2) This subsection does not apply to a woman who breastfeeds her own child in a public place, on property of others, to the view of any person on a street or highway, or any other place where a woman and her child are authorized to be.

(B) A person who violates the provisions of subsection (A)(1) is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be fined in the discretion of the court or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

We need to work to repeal these laws and strengthen the naturist movement for years to come.

Please sign our petition to support the establishment of a new future Social Capitalism Party in Ukraine. This is initially a youth movement intended in changing the future of the country for a positive and prosperous, happy life for all citizens, residents, and visitors.

Fundamentals of our manifesto:

1. Abolish Parliament as long as leases of land to other countries exist. The President can make all the decisions on behalf of citizens.
2. Hold referendums on all key decisions to be determined by the popular vote of citizens.
3. Eliminate all corporate profit tax and VAT.
4. Open boarders for free trade. Eliminate customs and import taxes.
5. Increase minimum wage by 4 times in 4 years.
6. Raise pensions to equal amount of minimum wage.
7. Convert abandon buildings into prisons for corrupt individuals and extremists. Implement anti-corruption hot-line and public TV program.
8. Run the government like a business aimed at ensuring all citizens have a share in the "profit"/tax returns.
9. Test all doctors and teachers/professors to ensure they are qualified by international 3rd parties.
10. Invest to ensure school and health care is free as it should be in real practice. Fix what is broken to keep corruption out.
11. Sell land to whomever wants to pay for it at a fair price.
12. Regulate housing costs so the average Ukrainian can afford to buy a home.
13. Implement free trade policy with the world to the envy of every other developing country.
14. Avoid EU, American and Russian alliances that influence our new principles to avoid conflict of interest.
15. Keep Ukrainian as the national official language...this is Ukraine. Allow everyone to speak whatever they choose.
16. Develop "Las Vegas" of Europe somewhere if agreed.
17. Develop American-style amusement park to rival Disney World.
18. Say no to NATO, we are not looking for any wars with anyone by being neutral.
19. Initiate "cultural change" program to motivate citizens to their full potential.
20. Support after school programs such as sports, music, art, etc.

On 31st August, 1962, Dr. Eric Eustase Williams brought Indepence for our country from the British Empire and formed the People's National Movement to bring democracy in politics in the country and everything became wonderful for the people.

Today, he might as well be still spinning in his grave, because, after 46 years, our country is in turmoil. crime has escalated, the economy is going down the drain and our conditions have not improved.

Our country cannot wait much longer for things to improve. The people of Trinidad and Tobago should take this vote of no confidence as a cue to call for another fresh elections so they will vote for a better political party that will deliver us for the pain and suffering already inflicted on us.

Sub : S O S APPEAL FROM RESIDENTS OF SAKET COMPLEX, THANE TO STOP MOVEMENT OF HEAVY VEHICLES ON SAKET ROAD.

Respected Sir,

On behalf of 4000 residents residing in Saket CHS Ltd. and Saket Towers, I am filing this letter to you with an urgent plea to kindly intervene and give us relief for the various reasons mentioned under alongwith facts :

1. Vide its order dated July 26,2006, the Mumbai High Court through its respectable Judges, Justice RM Lodha and Justice Naresh H Patil, restricted the movement of Heavy vehicles in the city of Thane, from Majiwade junction to Meenatai Thackeray Chowk to K Villa up to Kalwa Bridge and onwards towards Vitava and Belapur.

2. Delivering the judgement the Hon. Judges stated that (quote) : Pt. no. 2 : The AGP informs us that a meeting of the Collector, Thane, Commissioner, Thane, Municipal Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner(Traffic), Thane and City Engineer, Thane Municipal Corporation took place on July 24, 2006.

3. Pt. no. 3 of the said judgement further states that (quote) : The AGP placed before us a change route map,marked X for identification purposes. As per the said route map, the traffic from National Highway No. 3 and National Highway No. 4 now passes through the road marked by arrows from Navi Mumbai to Old Agra Rd. According to the decision taken in the said meeting, the traffic from National Highway No. 3 and National Highway No. 4 does not pass through Meenatai Thackeray Chowk ( Castle Mill). We are thus satisfied that the grievance of the petitioner raised through the PIL has been redressed and no further orders need to be passed in the writ petition.(unquote).

4. After this order, the Thane Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police diverted the entire traffic of Heavy Vehicles on SAKET MARG.

5. The area through which the traffic is now passing consists of a cluster of 24 buildings( 7 storied) and 3 Towers ( 19 storied) – all residential premises. There is a School and Junior College in the area which works in 2 shifts. In fact, there are less residential buildings in the so-called city area from Meenatai
Thackeray Chowk to Kalwa Bridge, as the road passes through a big lake on one side, a playground on the other side and a Jail premises later.

6. We would like to stress here that the Hon. High Court does not possess, nor is it expected to possess the specialized knowledge about the effects of the movement of Heavy Traffic from different areas of the City.

7. Looking at the trends seen for the last few years in the High Court regarding PILs, it is noticed that the judiciary is now taking over the role of Bureaucracy without having to take the responsibility and in the course, instead of hauling up the concerned officers responsible for the mess, the Courts are indulging in trying to sort out the mess itself.

8. In the current case, we would like to inform you that there are 4000 people residing in the Saket vicinity who are bearing the brunt of the irresponsible decision to divert Highway traffic through a stretch of a road meant for residential premises and constructed to withstand only LIGHT VEHICULAR movement.

9. This diversion has created daily nuisance to these thousands of people including school going children, pregnant women, senior citizens and office-goers.

10. IT IS EVIDENT THAT THE THANE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION AND TRAFFIC DEPT. PREFERRED TO KEEP THE HON. HIGH COURT IN DARK ABOUT THE REGULAR CIVIL SUIT NO. 239/2005, FILED BY M/S. DAYANAND NENE AND RAJENDRA ABHYANKAR, BOTH RESIDENTS OF SAKET CHS LTD., WHICH IS PENDING IN THE CIVIL COURT, THANE, FOR RELIEFS REGARDING THE VERY TRAFFIC ON THE SAID ROAD ON VARIOUS GROUNDS INCLUDING THE POOR CONDITION OF THE ROAD.

11. A survey conducted by the Thane Municipal Corporation, after diverting this traffic on Saket Marg produced a shocking picture. It was found that in 24 hours more than 14,000 vehicles ply to and fro on this stretch of 4 kms – movement which has destroyed the road and left behind huge craters, rubble, pollution and NOISE POLLUTION.

12. Yes, during night time the noise levels due to constant brakeing and honking by these vehicles reaches decibel levels exceeding 130. The Supreme Court / High Courts have been pro-active in barring usage of Loud Speakers or Crackers after 10 pm. So, our plea is ban movement of Heavy Vehicles near Residential premises after 10 pm!

13. Here, we would like you to consider the following :
• Whether all parties present in the July 24 meeting have acted in conformity with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act?
• If they have acted in conformity with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, whether the diversion of Highway led traffic through an internal residential road can be construed of PROTECTING THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND DOES NOT AMOUNT TO VIOLATION OF FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT AS GUARANTEED UNDER ARTICLE 21 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA?

• Whether such disowning of responsibility which leads to residents resorting to remedies of Raasta Roko or Bandhs are in the best interest of society?

On this background, we have no alternative but to invoke extraordinary jurisdiction of this Hon. High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the protection of the rights of people as guaranteed under Article 21 of the Constitution of India and seeking redress of our grievance to implement the provisions of Motor Vehicles Act so as to maintain and uphold the interest of Public Safety and not allow it redundant at any cost and in any circumstances.
Hence this petition!!

Reasoned persuasion on the basis of scientific evidence is not enough to result in effective change of individuals or governments.

Other motives and values drive them, and have to be brought to the surface of awareness for re-evaluation, in order for behavioural change to be sustainable.

The predominent Western ideology of economic growth, consumerism and exploitation of human and natural resources, is the main driver of behaviour causing both climate change and all the other current threats to survival.

The New Movement for Survival proposes an alternative, all-inclusive global ideology aimed to ‘Value Life Itself Above All Else’.

The Movement will appeal to those already persuaded and then snowball out to draw in as many other people as possible, and so reach a critical mass of influence on both individuals and governments, working in coalition with all likeminded groups.

We, the undersigned, are shocked and dismayed by your financial dealings with the Neturei Karta sect both as a principle and by reference to the scale of funds and period of years this has been going on.

We regard this conduct as offensive to the Jewish community at large, and a gross betrayal of the trust of Adass synagogue members and the legacy of the movement's founder, Rabbi Dr Solomon Schonfeld of blessed memory.

We, the undersigned, request that the UOHC issues a public apology for this conduct, to appear in a suitable community newspaper, confirming that they dissociate themselves and the Adass movement from the ethos and activities of the Neturei Karta sect and to pledge that they will have no further dealings with the NK or its followers.

We further request that the Trustees…

(1) Seek reimbursement of Union funds still in the hands of NK.

(2) End all financial dealings with 3rd party organisations that support or benefit NK or its members.

(3) Call on the Adass rabbinate to excommunicate the NK and its followers by means of a Cherem.

Those of us undersigned that are Adass synagogue members hereby state that - should the above requests not be fulfilled - we will vote for the secession of our community from the UOHC.

This is a petition for the innocent targets, shooters and gun enthusisasts across the UK, who unfairly had their pistols taken away from them after the horrific Dunblane school shooting in 1996.

It was due to a failing of the local police force to indentify that this man was unsuitable to posses a firearm. After the tragedy, it was campaigned for there to be a handgun ban so that it could "never happen again". This was a huge breech of peoples civil liberties.

If you are a safe, respectable citizen who has gone through the appropriate vetting procedures and is a member of an official Home Office approved gun club, and attend regularly (while on this subject I must point out that Thomas Hamilton, the man that commited the atrocity, had been thrown out of his Home Office approved gun club, who had informed the police of this, while no action was taken.), there should be no reason why you should not be allowed to posses a pistol to use at a Home Office shooting range.

Now that London has won the 2012 Olympics, then the law is actually in breech of the Olympic Charter, which states:

Section 4: 'The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibilty of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play. The organisation, administration and management of sport must be controlled by independent sports organisations.'

Section 5: 'Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement.

Section 6: 'Belonging to the Olympic Movement requires compliance with the Olympic Charter and recognition by the IOC.

Target shooting is an Olympic Sport. The only way that it is possible to practise is to travel to the Channel Islands. This means that traget shooters are unable to own their own guns, and travelling to the Channel Islands is a great inconvienience and makes it practically impossible for the ordinary british shooter to possibly become part of the Olympics (Which they should be able to, according to the charter).

I urge you to sign this petiton in the hope that fairness and justice shall be restored to the thousands of law abiding, safe, pistol shooters who have been denied their sport.

Devotees are NOT EXPECTED to make any MONETARY OFFERINGS neither are they accepted. The temple run by the Head Priest, Sri Soundara Rajan is being maintained well & the Lord is answering devotees prayers in bountiful.

The taking over of the Temple by the Endowments Department WILL introduce the 'Hundi' system and other special darshans for the VIP's. The common man who has been able to have darshan of the Lord JUST LIKE ANY OTHER VIP will be DENIED this privilege. Devotees will have to BUY tickets to have darshan of the Lord and more than anything else, it will lead to the COMMERCIALISATION of the Temple.

As you are aware that there is currently an ongoing agitation regarding the taking over of the temple by the Endowments Department; As the Ex Chief Minister of the State and a strong Leader of the Opposition Party, I expect COMPLETE SUPPORT from YOU towards the Temple Protection Movement.

We HOPE you will HELP US in seeing Chilkur Balaji Temple being taken care of by the same Archaka family, run on the SAME PRINCIPLES.

Preserve Our Heritage

The words [Under God] - there is a movement to have them removed from the pledge.

And [In God We Trust] - there is a movement to have them removed from our money. These words are part of our heritage.

These Movements are being lead by atheist Michael Newdow. The 9th Circuit court ruled that reciting of the pledge in public schools is unconstitutional.

Suit has been filed in 9TH Circuit Court Of Appeals to overturn that ruling. The Becket Fund will defend Under God.

Michael Newdow has filed suit to have the words In God We Trust remove from our money.

I have a petition to keep these words where they are.

The petition will be taken to the Senate and Congress and the Supreme Court.

Fellow Christians and Patriots let's join together and Preserve Our Heritage.

We the petitioners believe that legislation prohibiting squirrels from free movement in public spaces is immoral and unconstitutional. Denying access to certain parks or city sections cannot be justified under any circumstances. Furthermore, practices that prejudice certain squirrel breeds over others based on the colour of one's fur or the bushiness of one's tail are similarly repugnant to right-thinking mammals. All squirrels have the God-given right to the nuts of the trees, and should not be reduced to the less savoury, second-rate nuts of lesser trees only because of the dictates of humankind.

In the audience of appeal held in Montpellier, France, on November 22 and 23, 2001, the prosecutor pronounced very harsh punishments (prison sentences) against 3 French farmers judged for having neutralized, in June 1999 with Indian farmers, plantations of transgenic rice plants in a greenhouse of the CIRAD (Centre International de Recherche en Agriculture pour le Développement International Research Centre for Agriculture). The objective of this action was to seek public debate on a research program on transgenic rice.

The plants of rice were to be transplanted in Camargue, a nature reserve of world interest. The tests were designed to measure the productivity of a genetically manipulated variety of BT rice which produces its own systemic insecticide against the pyrale, and contains as gene marker a gene resistant to antibiotics. By destroying these rice plantations the Indian and French farmers wanted to protest against genetic manipulation of plants which put in danger their culture and their way of life.

For that demonstration of non-violent action, the prosecutor imposed 8 months of imprisonment against José Bové and a less harsh punishment for Dominique Soullier, Confederation paysanne's chairman for this French department. The court will make its final decision judgment on December 20, 2001.

But what is really being judged here?
For a number of years, seed and agribusiness transnationals have been trying to control the world market of seeds by using manipulated transgenic seeds to achieve this goal. The possibility of patenting discoveries on genes, the most elementary constituents of life, opens possibilities of realizing huge profits. These technologies strengthen farmers' dependence on the transnationals' inputs (seeds and pesticides). For these firms any delay in the distribution of their transgenic seeds is equal to financial loss. Thus any popular movement or any Farmers' Union that tries to prevent them from enslaving the world has to be destroyed or marginalized.

Greed and power ignore borders. French companies, just like other international firms, participate to this new 'golden seeds' rush. They lobby French scientific institutions to concentrate their work in genetic engineering while claiming that France should not delay its participation in this GMO commercial war.

Sad argument! If in France, like almost everywhere in the world, farmers and citizens fight against GMO, it is not a question of anti-patriotism or obscurantism. The problem is that this technology :

- allows the seed and agribusiness transnationals, thanks to patents on life, to deprive farmers of their ancestral right to plant their own seeds. Patents transform peasants in 'bio-pirates' if they plant GMO seeds without paying high royalties every year.
- is only a 'do-it-yourself' technology because honest researchers are still unable to explain scientifically the manipulation they are carrying out in their laboratories. They recognize that they do not master the result of their experiments and that they do not understand the complexity of genes interactions (for the moment it is only about a blind bombardment of genes on the chromosomes of reproductive cells whose result is totally unpredictable);
- has potentially irreversible hazards. It endangers biodiversity, animal and human health. For the moment there is terrible lacks of independent evaluation of the damages GMOs can cause to the environment. Those surveys are not carried out mainly because they are too long and too expensive, and because nobody seems willing to pay for them !
- is rejected massively by consumers when they are informed about its potential dangers on biodiversity and human health;
- whose short and medium-term economic interest for farmers both from rich and poor countries has yet to be demonstrated;
- will not contribute to solve malnutrition and reduce famine in the world which are not the result of a global shortage of food but rather of an unequal and unjust social and political system of distribution.

This hostility toward GMOs is a message addressed to politicians and researchers: public research and public money should not be invested to support private interests and make quick financial profits. On the contrary, public search should increase common knowledge, freely accessible to any scientist, and prevent technological risks.

Is French justice going to put in prison activists who contributed by their actions of passive resistance to alert politicians, citizens and researchers on the dangers of the GMO?

Justice is supposed to be administered in the name of the people. Supporting the actions of the Confederation Paysanne's activists, two of them being José Bové and Dominique Soullier, the signatories of this text ask that the activists who contributed to alert politicians and open public debate on the potential risks of GMOs not be punished for their action. We are opposed to the imposition of a prison sentence aimed at repressing this international movement against biotechnologies. Referring to the recent decisions of British courts for similar acts of GMO's neutralization, we ask that the court order the release of these activists on December 20 of this year.

PETITION TO STOP PROSECUTION AGAINST LEADERS OF THE DEMOCRACY MOVEMENT FOR PEACEFULLY EXERCISING THE INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED RIGHT OF A CITIZEN TO RETURN TO HIS OR HER HOMELAND (Article 13, Universal Declaration of Human Rights)

For 42 years the Cuban military government has divided the Cuban families and their nation and has established a very lucrative industry from that division at the rate of one billion dollars annually. Practically every family unit has been divided. Even Castro's own family has been affected from his own totalitarian policies with his daughter Alina and sister Juanita both living in exile.

To keep this infamous policy in place (and the profits from family division), Castro discriminates his own countrymen who live outside Cuba. A "visa" system has been established for Cubans living aboard to return to their homeland to see their families. They have to acquire a visa as if they were foreigners in their own homeland so that they can be limited in the days that they may stay in Cuba. Castro then uses the visa to discriminate who can visit and who cannot. This is a clear violation of Article 13th of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of which Cuba is a signatory. More so when Castro allows American vessels from the Florida Keys to enter Cuba without a visa for 72 hours while prohibiting Cubans from the United States from doing the same, a clear practice of discrimination based on national origins.

For many years now, the Democracy Movement, a non-violent, pro-democracy civil and human rights advocacy organization has been struggling to reunite the Cuban People in their homeland with growing support both in exile and in the Island. Requests addressed to the Cuban Government have been ignored. Attempts to peacefully exercise the "right to return" have been met with violence. Unfortunately, the US Government has succumbed to Castro's threats of a massive exodus to the US and Washington came up a Presidential Proclamation (6867) under which it joins the Cuban regime in discriminating Cuban nationals --more directly the members of the Democracy Movement--in what relates to the right to return to one's homeland. Presidential Proclamation is selectively enforced against the Democracy Movement: in the six years since it was enacted, three thousand permits have been given by the US Coast Guard to Americans to enter Cuba by boat and only three have been denied--all three from the Democracy Movement. This is even recognized by the US Coast Guard in their own web page www.uscg.com. Under the Proclamation only three vessels have been confiscated since it was enacted: the "M/V Democracia", the "M/V Human Rights" and the "M/V My Right To Return Home", all three from the Democracy Movement. Since enacted, only three people have been criminally charged and are now facing trial: Ramon Saul Sanchez, Alberto Perez and Pablo Rodriguez, all three, leaders of the Democracy Movement.

These three men are facing 15 years incarceration each and $10,000 fine for having peacefully entered their waters on July 14, 2001, during a memorial flotilla to drop flowers and say prayers for the innocent children and adults that had been murdered by Cuban gunboats in those same waters on July 13, 1994.

Serious constitutional violations exist in this case. Equally serious are the violations of universally recognized rights, such as the right to return to one's country, the right to free travel, the right to freedom of expression, the right to equal treatment under the law and to not be discriminated against based on nationality and beliefs, etc.; all done--according to the Proclamation's main objective--to preserve "international relations" with the murderer of thousands of Cubans, a renown sponsor of international terrorism, a denounced torturer by the Geneva Convention on Human Rights, and a preacher of hatred and violence against the People of the United States and other nations of the world he dislikes.

Please, make the difference by petitioning the President of the United States, Mr. George W. Bush, to stop prosecution against Ramon Saul, Pablo and Alberto, and to rescind Presidential Proclamantion, 6867. Help us bring down the walls of family division that have caused and continue to cause so much suffering to millions of human beings both in Cuba and in the US.

Socialism has come about because a few people not in touch with reality think the world can be totally peaceful if we become a one world order, have no use for currency, everyone gets the same amount of everything, people work for humanity instead of money, and are totally against war and death. Granted this is a list of a few things that the world socialist movement has planned, it's still enough to put me up in arms.

The Socialists believe that if the world is one nation there won't be segregation or hate between people. They don't realize we will always have segregation even if not forced as it is the way it has always been. We as humans instinctly group with the people who we fit in with and no matter how much they wish everyone could get along, it just won't happen. A socialist world would only work if everyone thought and acted the same, which we don't. We all have different opinions on what is right and wrong and thus we do not think alike but in some common ways.

In a socialist world we would have to ban religion, sports, television, movies, art, music, and opinions in general. I brought this point up with a socialist once and he said that was stupid and absurd and that there would be no reason to do such a thing. Let me tell you, I am from Gainesville, Florida home of the Florida Gators and our rival is Florida State. When the two teams play eachother the fans become like soldiers with their team being the general.

The same applies for everything and thus hatred is born. It is IMPOSSIBLE to live in a nation without segregation, hate, and death no matter how much you would like to think differently.

As I also mentioned they think everyone should be given the same amount of personal belongings as the next person and health care should be given to everyone. Granted I agree with the latter statement I also realize that if we have six and a half billion healthy people walking around this world and no one dies off, the next generation is going to be huge and the following generation will be larger and keep in mind you still have the original six and a half billion people on the planet too. The world would fill up fast. The socialist solution to this is to move to other planets. Yeah great so we destroy the galaxy so we can keep growing in numbers instead of moderating our birth habits.

The socialists like to think they have the problems of the world solved but the fact is their method is just as destructive and they don't even realize it. So I ask that we stop acknowledging Socialism as a form of goverment as all it is is a sublime. It's a beautiful idea but deadly at the same time and just not practical. This petition is aimed at SquareSoft USA and is related to the recreation of Final Fantasy VII for PS2 and PC.

The Final Fantasy VII Recreation Movement (FFVIIRM) are wanting SquareSoft USA to recreate Final Fantasy VII. The platforms for the recreation are PlayStation 2 and PC. Through much discussion with many devoted FFVII fans, we want the storyline and main concepts to remain exactly the same, as we don't want it to differ from the original. The graphics have sadly started to become outdated, and we believe that by re-enhancing them, not only will the existing fans purchase the new FFVII and love it, new fans will be attracted by the newcomer.

We think that the graphics should be fully 3D, as opposed to 3D models and 2D backgrounds. The FMV's should be redone to the standard of the movie FF:TSW or FFIX. This would attract many new possible gamers because 3 years has passed since the original was created and there are already new teenagers and young adults who haven't heard of FFVII. We believe that this is a perfect opportunity to boost the FFVII fan community.
