1. Put a Humane force in Las Vegas

Many states have a NSPCA humane force A.K.A animal cops. Las Vegas does not have one. We need one desperately. We need one NOW! The abuse has become so bad that even my next door neighbors are doing it.

It seems left and right animals in Las Vegas are hurt and abused for no reason except for a persons sick fantasies. I'm not asking for money im just asking for help so if you can contact any major officer (mayor, governor, president etc.) please send this to them.

I may be only 15 but this is what I want to do, defend animals of Las Vegas and let them have a good life.

I ask you to do your research, and see that the Mayor of Denver Michael Hancock and the Governor John Hickenlooper is trying to silence our amendment rights.

They needs to be recalled and thrown out of office. The OCCUPY DENVER movement is all I need to say.

Inspired by the 11 September 2011 'Naked City' article proposing a 'Cock-O-Rail' approach to preserving Sydney's monorail system and providing an alternative to the proposed culling of cockatoos at Potts Point. Both are fantastic - why not preserve (combine?) them?

4. David Starkey does not represent London

Petition calling on Boris Johnson to withdraw his invitation to The Mayor's Thames Festival.

We the undersigned call on the Mayor of London to withdraw the invitation to David Starkey to speak as part of the Mayor's Thames Festival.

In a discussion about the riots this summer on BBC Newsnight, David Starkey used race-based terminology to explain the riots, claiming '"What has happened is that the substantial section of the chavs that you wrote about have become black. The whites have become black. A particular sort of violent, destructive, nihilistic gangster culture has become the fashion,"'. He also claimed Jamaican Patois has ''been intruded in England...so many of us have this sense of literally a foreign country''. Comments encouraging the idea that black people and black culture lie at the root of the issues leading to the riots can only whip up racism and prejudice.

The Newsnight discussion then turned to the Mark Duggan protest. When Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis, responded to Starkey saying that both white and black youth were involved in the riots, he contended that "it started as a black protest about the killing of a black man". When Owen Jones, another guest on the show, pointed out this was a peaceful protest about the shooting of Mark Duggan, and could not be held responsible for the riots, Starkey replied "it very quickly ceased to be peaceful". Quite apart from their race-bias, these comments are hurtful to the family of Mark Duggan, and also ignore the fact that the family strongly condemned violence of the riots.

The true spirit of London is not reflected in comments like these, but in the clean-up operations when people came together from all communities to repair the damage.

It is offensive and insensitive to give David Starkey a platform at the Mayor's Thames festival. Starkey's comments triggered thousands of complaints and have caused deep offence.

6. Directly elect Mayor of Chesterfield

As of April 2011 various towns and cities throughout England have a directly elected mayor, i.e. one who is elected by the people in an election. These include Bedford, Leicester, Torbay, Mansfield and Middlesbrough to name but a few.

However, this is not the case in Chesterfield. The Mayor of Chesterfield is elected by the councillors, i.e. those who are elected to represent each ward. This is undemocratic, as the party with the highest number of seats (which is not necessarily the party with the most votes overall due to the technicalities of the voting system) has a disproportionate amount of power in making this important decision.

7. Mayor must keep transparently his promise to improve WEZ air quality

Clean Air in London wrote to the Mayor of London on 3 December 2010 saying it was considering suing him over the air pollution consequences of removing the western extension of the congestion charging zone (WEZ). The Mayor had estimated that some 30,000 vehicles per day would return to the area if the WEZ was removed.

In response, the Mayor has promised that air quality in the area formerly covered by the WEZ will be improved relative to 2010 as a result of mitigation measures he would take. The WEZ was removed on 4 January 2011.

There is a serious risk that one or more of the three monitoring stations that measure and report local air quality will be closed making it difficult to assess the situation.

You may wish to sign the petition because you live in the area formerly covered by the WEZ and are worried about your health or that of your children or, wherever you live, just because you want the Mayor to keep his promises.

More details can be seen on the Campaign for Clean Air in London's website and the London Air Quality Network. Clean Air in London is the legal entity responsible for the Campaign for Clean Air in London.

8. Give Dog Owners a Fine if they don't put their dogs on a leash in Massachusetts

I am allergic to dogs, and have seen many in public parks where there are lots of signs telling dog owners kindly to have their dogs on leashes. However, I have seen many dogs NOT on leashes and this makes me very upset to see that the owners are not paying attention to the signs.

I have been on tons of chases where an eager dog (not on a leash) runs after me. Alot of owners when I tell them I am allergic to dogs they say their dogs are hypoallergenic, and they can be to some people, but not to me. I am allergic to all kinds of dogs, "hypoallergenic" or not. These dogs don't know better than to chase me, but their owners do.

The owners need to be more considerate to people who are allergic to dogs like me and keep their dogs on leashes.

9. The future of an Elected Mayor in Torbay

Torbay has had an elected Mayor since 2005 after a referendum in July of that year.

Under current legislation there can not be a further referendum until July 2015, that will be two months after the Mayoral election. (There will also be an election in 2011).

This petition is simply to judge the public appetite for an earlier decision, in line with the Coalition Government's localism agenda.

We would propose that at the latest a referendum be held by the Autumn of 2014 to allow for a smooth transition between an Elected Mayor and any new system should that be the will of Torbay residents.

Please ensure you are a resident, or business owner in the Bay as postcodes will be validated.

12. Citizens for 7 Day Sales

Oxford, MS. A prominent college town. Need I say more?

Well if so, here I go.

Game day weekends are EXTREMELY important to any Rebel. Last year for the Alabama vs Ole Miss games, 62,657 people attended the game in the stadium. That's not including all the people who are only in the Grove having a good time. Just imagine if all those people went to eat at a restaurant on Sunday. With alcohol sales on Sunday's, those family owned businesses would be able to make over their usual profit. Oxford Tourism Council President Jim McCauley asked the Mayor and Aldermen to consider letting the community vote.

The community backs the idea of 7 day sales, just look at the website links and read what all has been said so far.

13. Develop Kericho Town

Kericho District (Kenya) holds one of the Country's crucial economic commodity-tea (it being the number one agricultural export and a very important contributor to the GDP).

Despite this blessing, the town that boasts its name is a far cry from the status it holds. The town is not well planned and maintained and despite recent improvements it still has a long way to go. Simple things that a local authority should maintain such as street lighting and marking of roads are surprisingly non-existent or otherwise broken down. The town receives its fair share of rate taxes and money from the Local Authority Ministry but one is forced to wonder at the use of the money it receives.

We need at least 1000 signatures from residents who have had enough of this lack of commitment on the Part of the Municipal council and urge them to live up to their expected mandates. Please add your name and other details provided in the petition form and let's urge them to work - although that's what they are required to do.

14. Stop ANY Multi Story Large Scale Downtown Parking Garage in Newburyport MA

Over the past 20+ years, Newburyport’s neighborhoods, grass roots groups and city government have participated in many studies, commissions, committees and council meetings in an effort to make our local government ascertain real details of a garage plan & its necessity.

Concerned Citizens against downtown Garages include the following Pleasant, Titcomb & Merrimac Street Residents – The Bernards , The Cargills, The Lopardos, The Murphys, The Nichols, The Rourkes. We are residents and business owners in downtown Newburyport who are against any large scale multi story facility. This is a critical issue, which, in our opinion, could have a permanent negative impact on the city of Newburyport.

16. Impeach Mayor Michael Nutter

Let me please vent to you regarding the city budget address you gave tonight. The city of Philadelphia currently has the highest taxes in the entire country. What exactly are these taxes utilized for?!! City trash collection, I'm positive, is one of the services they're used for. So, with that said, why exactly would/should the citizens pay, on top of already paying, for this service?!

In order to balance the budget you should continue to examine your and your staffs' salaries. 85 grand for a Director of Anti-Poverty Initiatives? What - EXACTLY - does she direct? How irresponsible of the city government and its leader!!

I predict plenty of trash dumping in city lots, parks, creeks, and rivers. And how dare you insult the intelligence of the citizens by proclaiming to tax sugar filled drinks to protect 'us' from obesity. Get REAL! You should be impeached- and impeached NOW!

17. Appoint a No Kill General Manager for LA Animal Services so that all healthy and adoptable animals are placed in loving homes

With the resignation of LA Animal Services General Manager Ed Boks in June 2009, Mayor Villaraigosa is now charged with appointing the next General Manager. Our job therefore is to build a successful campaign to build awareness and advocate for Mayor Villaraigosa to appoint a No Kill dedicated General Manager.

As concerned Los Angeles citizens, taxpayers, members of rescue groups and animal advocacy organizations and visitors to your city, we are appalled by:

1) the unconscionable number of animals killed in LA animal shelters. In 2008, LAAS reports that they killed over 19,600 animals, while only 26,285 were adopted (a 30% kill increase from 2007);

2) the horrific conditions in the shelters that cause animals to further suffer and deteriorate, and the killing of dogs and cats for space; and

3) the lack of accountability and outreach to the public by the Department of Los Angeles Animal Services (LAAS). Increasing public participation and volunteerism, including growing foster programs, are crucial to how other cities work towards and achieve No Kill results. Los Angeles is rich but under utilized with community support and compassion for animals.

18. Support the Maricopa Express Bus Program

The Maricopa city council voted 4-3 Tuesday August 18, 2009 to end the city’s year-old bus program. The decision to end the service comes as a shock because the city had recently been awarded $750,000 in federal stimulus funds to relocate the current park and ride location and purchase a 30-passenger bus for the service, the first the city would have owned.

Currently the city contracts through All Aboard America to provide three buses and drivers to operate the service. The monies to fund the program come from a federal grant that provides more than 90 percent of the $786,906 required to fund the service.

In its first year of operation the MaX program exceeded rider ship goals set forth by city leaders and was named one of the top five performing transit services receiving federal funding in the state. Attaining those goals put Maricopa in line to reduce its financial match this upcoming cycle from $251,000 to $226,000.

Despite the rider ship success, city council voted to end the program without giving it a fair evaluation, causing the city to add at least 100 more cars to the already congested 347 route.

20. Give us access to Finsbury Park

In a City the size of London, the Underground system is the quickest way to get around and we are disappointed with the Mayor's decision to shelve 22 of the 45 planned step free access projects across London only committing himself to providing step-free access at 29 per cent of all stations by 2017. This is a major step back from previous plans to provide step-free access on a third of the network by 2013. As a result, many disabled passengers, older people and parents with young children are being denied access to this mode of transport. This is particularly concerning in the run up to the 2012 Paralympics and makes us wonder how the Mayor is planning to keep his post-Beijing pledge to make London’s Games the most accessible ever.

It makes little sense that Finsbury Park, where the current 49.1m passenger journeys a year are likely to increase by 40% over the next 15 years, is not being made step-free whilst Kingsbury and Amersham, both serving less than one tenth of Finsbury Park’s passengers, are being made accessible. We believe that money would be better spend on projects in areas where a larger number of people would benefit.

The decision makes even less sense because Network is going ahead with plans to provide step-free access from the overground platforms to street level at Finsbury Park. It has now given Transport for London and the Mayor until the autumn to change their minds on working together to make Finsbury Park step-free.

These are the reasons why we (Jeremy Corbyn MP, Jennette Arnold AM, local councillors, the Islington Disability Network, Islington Mobility Forum and Transport for All) are working together to collect as many signatures to pass to the Mayor to convince him to change his mind. If you agree that Finsbury Park Underground station should be made accessible to all passengers then please sign this petition. We are aiming to hand the petition over to the Mayor in the Autumn.

Ps. Please provide your email address to ensure your signature counts!

21. Allow the property at the southern end of Center Street, to be converted into a "Dog Park"

In an effort to provide a safe area for the many dogs (and their owners) in my neighborhood to run, walk and play, without the worry of being hit by a motor vehicle. There are no sidewalks in our neighborhood to walk you pet safely. The property at the southern end of Center Street has been vacant since the demolition of the First Aid building, many years ago.

Only until just recently, the property has been excavated and refilled with raw material which was dredged from one of the lagoons in Beach Haven West.

This property would be ideal for a "Dog Park"! Please consider this petition and the reasons surrounding it. Our communities safety is at risk!

22. Let's have Unity!!!

Unity Day was born in 1978 on Belmont Plateau and has since become the nation’s largest outdoor radio event. This keystone Philadelphia event celebrates family values, pride, and empowerment. WDAS recently announced that "due to the difficult economic times," the station could not produce Unity Day this year. Last week Clear Channel announced that John Rohm, who manages its stations in Pittsburgh, would also be market manager of the Philadelphia cluster, which consists of WDAS, Power 99, Q102, Radio 104.5, Rumba 1480, and My106.1.

23. Exemption for Sunrise Propane explosion victims

On August 10, 2008, a propane explosion occurred at Sunrise Propane, 54 Murray Rd, North York, Ontario, forcing 12,000 residents from their homes.

Due to extensive damage caused by the explosion, not all residents have returned home as they have to rebuild.

Residents who have elected to tear down more than 50% of their existing walls, have learned that their house rebuilding is being treated as "new construction".

This Bylaw is according to Municipal Code, Chapter 851, Water Supply and Chapter 681, Sewer Service. Residents will have to pay the City of Toronto approx $11,000 for upgrades on city property, which does not include the additional expense required to upgrade the pipes on their own property.

Glenn De Baeremaeker, Chair of Public Works & Infrastructure, denied all requests for the issue to be added as an agenda item. He stated in a letter, “I fully understand and sympathize with the situation your constituent is faced with as he rebuilds his home following last summer’s Sunrise Propane blast, there does not appear to be sufficient merit to warrant a request of City Council to exempt this property from the relevant provisions of the Municipal Code”

Several written requests have been submitted to the Mayor's office for assistance. Karen Duffy responsed from the Office of the Mayor, stating that "The Mayor's Office is satisfied that the city is responding to your request. The decision rests with the Public Works and Infrastructure Committee. There will be no meeting scheduled."

A final attempt was made to add the issue to the agenda on the day of the meeting, June 3rd, and Glenn De Baremeaker made a ruling that the request would not be put to a vote and would not be heard by the committee.

Karen Duffy stated the Mayor was powerless to help, and once again said no meeting would be scheduled.

24. Save Our South London Line

South London needs more trains.

Even if you haven’t heard of our South London Line (SLL) you may well have used it. It runs between Victoria and London Bridge via Battersea Park, Wandsworth Rd, Clapham High Street, Denmark Hill, Peckham Rye, Queens Rd Peckham and South Bermondsey. It makes a neat U shape through the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, City of Westminster, Wandsworth and the City of London. It is a vital radial and orbital public transport link for these boroughs and we particularly value it because, unlike long distance services, its possible to find space to get on at our inner London stations and moreover, it serves 3 of London’s most important hospitals – Kings and the Maudsley at Denmark Hill and Guys at London Bridge.

Mayor Boris Johnson (Chair of Transport for London) has agreed to cuts this vital transport line for South London and has ditched all plans to improve services.

If this goes ahead hundreds of local residents, patients and staff at the hospitals who had used the South London Line service to get to Victoria or London Bridge will have been robbed without consultation or warning. Journeys will be complicated by hitherto unnecessary changes en route.

South London badly needs more public transport services, Camberwell in particular. And has anyone mentioned climate change in all this ? Fewer cars should mean more trains!

We have until 2012 to fight off the loss of the South London Line so lets show Mayor Johnson, Transport for London, the Rail Industry and our Transport Ministers that we are not going to be robbed!

25. Keep Swimming in Forest Hill

Lewisham Council is proposing to move the swimming pools from Dartmouth Road to Willow Way in Sydenham.

We believe that the new swimming pools for Forest Hill should be a high quality design, retaining the frontage block, on the Dartmouth Road site and built in the near future.

The Council is proposing two options to replace Forest Hill Pools. The first is an attractive modern design which places new pools behind the existing frontage block on Dartmouth Road. This design is favoured by local people, but the Mayor claims that it is not affordable and cannot be built before 2015 and maybe not at all. The other option is to move the pools to the industrial estate in Willow Way in Sydenham SE26. This is unpopular with local people, but it is claimed by the Mayor that it could be built soon and more affordably.

What is so good about Dartmouth Road? This site is at the civic heart of Forest Hill and has been the home of swimming for 120 years. It has good transport links and new pools here would give the town centre a lift and help the businesses along Dartmouth Road to thrive again. This plan will reuse the pools frontage block, a familiar local landmark. We believe that this plan can be made affordable if the Council will look at alternative approaches which we can present.

What is wrong with Willow Way? The site is unsuitable and is situated in a narrow side street. Moving the pools away to this site would threaten businesses on Dartmouth Road and tear the heart out of the town centre. The old pools building would be left derelict for the foreseeable future.

27. Mayor Bloomberg - Withdraw From The Mayoral Race

The New York City Council has voted to extend the two term limit for themselves, as well as for the Office of Mayor. Mayor Bloomberg, who, himself, said that it was "disgusting" to try to overturn term limits, has won his battle to extend the term limits by legislative fiat. NYC voters TWICE voted on keeping term limits for any Mayor or member of the City Council to TWO terms, not three.

By seeking a third term exclusively for himself, the Mayor has completely disregarded the will of the people of the City of New York

Through legislative fiat, the Mayor has succeeded in overruling the voice of the people, and has subverted the law to suit his own interests.

28. Keep Office of Mayor of NYC Restricted to TWO Terms

The present Mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg, is seeking to persuade the New York City Council to amend term limits for the Office of Mayor so that he may seek a third term as Mayor. The Council has the legal power to do so.

However, twice, voters have voted against extending term limits for this Office. It is clear that the voters are against extending term limits for this Mayor, or any Mayor, without another public vote on this issue.

By not putting this issue on the public referendum, we voters are excluded from the process of deciding whether or not we want to extend term limits for this Office.

29. Our Very Own Boris

An elected Mayor is not the traditional civic head who chairs council meetings and raises money for charities, the civic Mayor would remain unchanged. An elected Mayor is in effect an elected leader of the council with full executive powers.

I firmly beleive that a directly elected Mayor is more accountable to the electorate and more in touch with their views. They would not have to be a politician but have the ability to understand the political process.

30. Hey Mayor of Pitman, can we park in your driveway?

*There is currently a new "Municipal Parking Lots" ordinance that will be in effect starting September 1, 2008.

*This ordinance will require Pitman residents who do not have parking at their homes, to purchase a parking permit to park in a public lot. Without purchasing this overnight parking permit for $100 per year, overnight parking in a public lot is prohibited. (For more information please see the flyer or go to www.pitman.org)

*Parking is difficult already for most residents who reside near the historial Pitman Grove. Most houses do not have driveways for parking to begin with. Some houses only have partially paved alley ways to park in. With these alley ways only partially paved, it makes getting in and out very difficult especially during winter months when it snows.

*We are also not allowed to park infront of our houses between the hours of 2:00 am to 6:00 am without being ticketed. They allow us to "call" our cars in if we do have to park outside. However, if you call too many times you abuse your parking priviledge and they put you on a reject list.

*Pitman recently expanded the baseball field on Lincoln and Cleveland Ave which took away ample parking for Pitman residents. That field is rarely used for anything.

*The ordinance states that even if we buy these $100 parking permits they can not guarantee parking spots. What do we do then? Where do we park? This ordinance is already creating more problems then we presently have.

*Why are the residents near the Grove being penalized because we do not have ample parking like other areas of Pitman? It is not justifiable that the residents who don't have sufficient parking have to pay $100 a year just to park their car.

Please sign the following petition to help us to oppose this ordinance.
