Petition Tag - halton hospital health chudleigh ontario mcguinty
In 2005, the Liberal Government mandated growth in Halton through the "Places to Grow Act". Since then, Halton's population and development have skyrocketed.
However, necessary healthcare infrastructure has not accompanied growth.
In Milton, a hospital built for a town of 30,000 people is servicing a population that is nearing 100,000. Although a proposal for expansion was submitted in September 2008, there has been no response from the government.
In Oakville, construction the much-needed Trafalgar Memorial Hospital is delayed. Initial steps have not been taken and there is no indication as to when the process will begin.
In Burlington, rapid growth combined with aging infrastructure have left Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in need of significant upgrades and new facilities.
Halton MPP Ted Chudleigh (PC) has demanded action and answers from the McGuinty government. While the response has been inconsistent and vague, Chudleigh believes that his message is getting through and that McGuinty will react to significant public outcry.
By signing this online petition, you will be demonstrating the real public need for improved healthcare in Halton.
