121. OSLOBODITE VELJKA MARICA IZ SRPSKOG ZATVORA FREE VELJKO MARIC FROM SERBIAN FALSE IMPRISONMENT

Those who are currently in power in Croatia,SDP government headed byZoran Milanovic,Ivo Josipovic the so called president have renounced Veljko Maric, they have not provided any protection for him, and his case has been put aside in a drawer, and they have left him at the mercy of Serbian antagonists, as if the man does not exist, it is obvious that Veljko Maric was sold to the Serbs !

The Serbian government headed by Tomislav Nikolić, who himself committed crimes in Croatia during the homeland war,has ignored requests for Veljko Maric to be transferred to Croatia.

Tihomir Purda was released because of strong protests, but someone is still in Serbian custody and no one is campaigning to free them. The Croatian government has not bothered to campaign to free Veljko Maric who is still in a Serbian prison. Which makes you think about Croatian government cooperation with the Chetniks and future arrests of Croatian defenders in the name of project the Western Balkans or EU.

Zastrašiti i obnoviti Jugu!

Here is a letter hand written by Veljko Maric from his Serbian prison cell.

Ovdje je pismo rukom napisao Veljko Marić iz srpskog zatvora.

122. The Revolution in Yemen

The Egyptian and the Tunisian revolutions have given an insight and a motivation for the young Yemeni people to find their way to overthrow the regime that managed to isolate its population from the rest of the world leaving the country behind with sever developmental challenges.

The Yemeni sluggish economy is still drowning in its debts under the justification of the war on terror. Huge loans were misused for the favor of a corrupt government ignoring the country's low level of human development.

For more than ninty days, a combination of young, old, educated and illiterate Yemenis from all over the country have been protesting to bring down the dictatorship ruled by President Saleh, the first and the only president of the Republic of Yemen. Saleh argues that the unified Republic is his own accomplishment and replacing him is certain risk to this unification.

Throughout his speeches, Saleh has been trying to increase the hatred among the Yemeni population to serve his own interest and to gain longer time to drain the determination of the protesters. He has manipulated few to demonstrate for him by paying them from unknown questionable sources.

123. Give us a Referendum on Proportional Representation

The public are unhappy with the current voting system and the proposed AV system is too complicated and of little interest to the majority of the public as will be shown by today's low turn out. The public have become disenfranchised with politics and our patriotism has been shaken.

Many other countries with excellent governments and economies use Proportional Representation voting systems such as Party List Voting, e.g. Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Portugal and South Africa. It can be implemented simply with little if no additional costs. Other PR systems are still in use in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and Germany on of the strongest economies in Europe. Voting turn out is getting lower and lower every election, the public are not happy with the current situation and revolts will become more common.

The public need to know and SEE their votes and opinions count, AV is not enough and people think you are not listening to them. They need honest politics where a coalition works together and is honest when they dislike or like the others policies. Please give us a referendum on PR so we can show you how we feel and listen to the results so we know you have our interests at heart.

124. Allow Motorcycles in Ontario HOV

The only region on the planet that does not recognize motorcycles should use the HOV lane is Ontario. Even the US federal government has legislated that no state shall prohibit the use of motorcycles in the HOV lanes.

Recently Ontario started allowing "Green" plated cars to use the HOV with only a single passenger. The argument previously used was based on the idea that HOV was designed to reduce congestion. With the introduction of "Green" cars in HOV, that argument is gone.

125. Change Mandatory Car Insurance Law

Several Canadian provinces (British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Quebec) provide a public auto insurance system while in the rest of the country insurance is provided privately.

Basic auto insurance is mandatory throughout Canada with each province's government determining which benefits are included as minimum required auto insurance coverage and which benefits are options available for those seeking additional coverage. Accident benefits coverage is mandatory everywhere except for Newfoundland and Labrador.

All provinces in Canada have some form of no-fault insurance available to accident victims. The difference from province to province is the extent to which tort or no-fault is emphasized. Typically, coverage against loss of or damage to the driver's own vehicle is optional.

126. Human Trafficking: Help Raise Awareness and Bring it Before Parliament!!

Human Trafficking is a very profitable industry for those involved. But the people being trafficked are often stripped of their rights and freedoms and become 2nd class citizens to their captors. Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world.

Revenue from trafficked persons is estimated to be between 5 to 9 billion US dollars per year. In Canada, the RCMP estimate that 600-800 people are trafficked into Canada annually and that an additional 1,500 to 2,200 people are trafficked through Canada into the United States.

Many of the people being trafficked are either women or children, that are then funneled into other industries such as free labour market and prostitution.

If we can get enough people to sign this we can get this topic raised during parliament. This is all about raising awareness and getting the Canadian Government to do more for this pressing issue.

127. SAY NO! to CARBON TAX AUSTRALIA. ELECTION NOW

GILLARD BREAKS ELECTION PROMISE

During the 2010 Election Labor's Julia Gillard and her deputy Wayne Swan made the promise that they would not introduce a carbon tax if elected to Government.

Gillard broke that promise in the last week of February 2011 and Australians are very disappointed and angry that once again they face the prospect of increased prices.

More importantly Australians have reacted angrily that they have been treated with such contempt and let down by the head of Australia - the Prime Minister. It is a tax that will hurt every single Australian: electricity bills alone for the average family will go up by over $300 a year. But the real cost will be far greater than just electricity prices. The price of everyday day items will increase as the costs on doing business – transport, production and so on – will rise. This is simply another grab for cash by a wasteful government that will do nothing to address climate change.

SIGN OUR PETITION AND HELP SEND CANBERRA A STRONG MESSAGE: AUSTRALIA CAN NOT AFFORD THIS TAX!

Follow NO_CARBON_TAX on Twitter

10 top reasons why Carbon Tax is wrong and utterly pointless.....It is a green ideological tax for social engineering under the guise of dangerous climate change. It is unnecessary, ineffective, and hugely damaging to Australian families and our industry.....

1. Deceitful: Julia Gillard pledged before the election to not introduce a Carbon Tax. Our government must not be allowed to contemptuously disregard key pre-election pledges to not introduce contentious revolutionary schemes, if elections are to have any meaning.

2. Misleading: The Carbon Tax or Pollution Tax is a tax on a pure gas, carbon dioxide or CO2, not carbon soot or general pollution, as dishonestly implied by these terms. CO2 is not pollution and does not need to be reduced in the first place, it is a natural trace gas we all exhale and is needed by plants to grow, notwithstanding its greenhouse effect.

3. Unnecessary: Fear of dangerous Global Warming from man-made CO2 is dissipating with more recent scientific evidence and exposure of much bias, exaggeration of dangers and neglect of benefits of warming in existing scientific consensus. Any warming from CO2 is likely to be a harmless < 1 Deg Celsius by 2100. Higher predictions are only computer model speculations, arguably due to the modeller’s confessed ignorance of natural climate cycles.

4. Obsolete: Most big countries are retreating from carbon pricing and from the many ineffective and expensive green schemes. These schemes have not even achieved net CO2 reductions, nor created net green jobs or economic benefits as claimed by proponents (Spain, Germany, USA etc).

5. Isolated: Big emitter countries such as China, Japan and USA have decided against renewing the Kyoto Protocol or significantly cutting their CO2, despite greenwash projects. Australia’s isolated sacrifice is thus utterly pointless.

6. Worthless: Even if CO2 were dangerous and we reduced it successfully in Australia or even globally, there is no physical evidence that it would have a significantly beneficial effect on climate.

7. Ineffective: Economists predict that a carbon price in Australia will just move carbon emissions to the other countries with smaller or no carbon price, especially as we export ever more coal to be burned elsewhere, termed ‘carbon leak’; this is what happened in Europe under Kyoto protocol.

8. Disingenuous: If Greens really believed a Climate catastrophe was approaching, they would surely concede to the lesser evil of building more dams and more nuclear plants. In fact, theirs is a primarily political agenda.

9. Damaging: After Labor’s record of green and general disasters of insulation bats, solar rebates, cash for clunkers, green loans, BER, Hospitals and NBN, it is optimistic in the extreme to expect anything but a disaster to come out of the complex Carbon Tax.

10. Premature: Conversion to a self-sufficient, renewable energy based economy should happen as technological developments bring efficient solutions, not by forcing gigantic schemes using current inefficient technology with huge public subsidies.

129. Save The Phoenix Centre!

The Phoenix Youth Centre in Prestwich is in risk of being closed down by the Bury council. The Phoenix is there to give support to teens that need it, people with problems with their sexualities, home life, school life and problems in general.

The Phoenix supply's the teens of the local areas with support, fun, something to do, somewhere to make friends and keeps them out of trouble. They also provide an after school and breakfast club for primary school students which are both very popular and helpful to the local working parents, they also support the local children with disabilities.

If this facility is closed down, their is no alternative for the people that need it and their needs will be unmet.

130. Call on the Government to Create a Dedicated Minister for Older People

Older people are fast becoming one of the largest groups in the United Kingdom: the country now has a greater number of people aged 60 and over than it does people aged 16 and under.

Life expectancy will only continue to increase, and our Government will face significant challenges as it prepares to serve the ageing population. The UK has no choice but to ensure that older people can live comfortably and enjoy dignity and respect in their later years.

Despite making up 40% of voters, there is no Government minister dedicated to the well-being of older people. Theresa May MP is Minister for Women; Sarah Teather MP is Minister of State for Children and Families, but as it stands, older people’s issues are scattered throughout various Government departments. What is sorely lacking is a centralised Government portfolio that prioritises the needs of older people and ensures that their views and interests receive dedicated attention.

Many governments around the world, including those of Ireland and Canada, currently have a dedicated Minister for older people, and it is high time the UK followed suit. Both Wales and Northern Ireland have appointed an Older People’s Commissioner, but all older people living in the UK deserve a centralised ministerial post that looks after their needs.

Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of care and housing, represents 42,000 older people and believes that they are our national treasure – people to be proud of; people to respect; people who deserve someone at the highest level to look after their interests.

We, therefore, call on our Government to provide real leadership for the UK’s older people: to listen to their issues, give voice to them, and help all UK citizens enjoy happy living in the years ahead.

133. Keeping people with disabilities poor is a false economy!

B.C.'s current income assistance rates for people with disabilities fall well below the poverty line.

The current benefits program does not provide sufficient financial assistance for recipients to obtain adequate food, shelter and clothing or to obtain supports for their meaningful participation in community. The program offers limited support for people who wish to find work.

People with disabilities face serious systemic and attitudinal barriers when it comes to accessing employment opportunities and earning an independent income.

As a result, many adults with disabilities require income support to meet basic living costs and to compensate for the extra costs involved in living with a disability. The social effects of poverty, including isolation, loneliness, and alienation from community life, contribute to both physical and mental health problems.

The savings created by limiting access to disability supports create greater costs in other parts of the social service system. Keeping people with disabilities poor is a false economy!

134. Support The Armed Forces By Introducing The Military Covenant into Law

The Military Covenant was written 400 years ago, its is a mutual obligation between society, government an the Armed forces.

It recognises that the Armed forces may make many sacrifices including the Ultimate one.

In recent years we have seen several instances where if the Military covenant was in law it would of stopped national outrage, i.e Luton 2008 & Barking 2009 Islamic Extremists protest an abuse soldiers, 2010 Poppies burnt on Armistice day.

It would hold to Government responsible for providing the care that many ex-service people need, whether that be physical or otherwise. It could also be used to tackle crimes such as defacing war memorials, which sadly seems to be on the increase.

There has been increased media coverage of the military covenant as the government has been accused of failing to meet it; this criticism came from not just the media, but also several previous Chiefs of the Defence Staff said the government needed to do more to help support injured troops and their families.

135. Shepherdsville Skate Plaza

For the past century or so, the sport of skateboarding has done nothing but grow throughout the world. And that definitely doesn't exclude the City of Shepherdsville, Kentucky.

For years, police officers and business owners have run off kids skateboarding on their property due to damaged property and/or bodily injuries. Why must we keep shutting out kids from doing what they love to do? Building a skate plaza in the City of Shepherdsville benefits more than just the kids involved in extreme sports; it also gives a beautiful scenery and a wonderful addition to a city park.

A skate plaza is nothing more than taking the ideas and layouts of street skating spots, and combining them into one local area that is not illegal for skaters to go to. The benefits highly out-weigh the costs for this project. Skaters will have a legal place to skate, kids will be off the streets, it would bring in tourism, and it would help lower the number of teens getting hooked on drugs and alcohol because they would have a place to go and be themselves and be active in sports.

Studies have shown that most kids get involved in illegal activities due to not having anywhere to go and be involved. The construction of a skate plaza in Shepherdsville will definitely have a positive impact on the community and help keep our children active and safe!

137. A response to the public health white paper

We welcome the Coalition Government’s strategy for public health, Healthy Lives, Healthy People. We particularly welcome the attention paid to taking a life course approach to public health, the focus on social determinants of health inequalities, and the linkages made between health, wellbeing and mental health.

The idea that local communities have a key role to play in determining the agenda for and ways of promoting public health is in line with the argument we have consistently made that local knowledge needs to be at the heart of policy development and practice.

Our response to the public health strategy is based on this general agreement with the Government’s overall vision for public health. However, as organisations working with racialised groups, with an in-depth understanding of the problems and potentials of these groups, we feel that there needs to be far more clarity about several key concepts, assumptions and proposals within the White Paper.

Our response, firstly, engages with some of these key concepts: health inequalities, individual responsibility and behaviours, local leadership and the idea of localism. Secondly, we examine the contribution of the voluntary sector organisations working with minority ethnic communities and the factors affecting their engagement with ‘the big society’.

We then make some recommendations on the specific proposals within the White Paper.

This means that the workload of the Office of Secretary of State has been vastly reduced to such an extent as to question its viability as a cost effective and efficient service to the people of Wales.

Secondly, the change in constitutional arrangements between Wales and the UK Government indicates the need for a change in relationships with direct contact between the two Executive bodies rather than through the bureaucratic 'middle person' as the Welsh Office now is.

144. The Government of Canada > NOT Harper's Government

The order has gone out from the Prime Ministers Office that Canadian Government Departments "no" longer call our Government 'The Canadian Government'. It seems we are now governed by' The Harper Government'

This is an action you might expect to see in a third World dictatorship country, not in a free and democratic Country like Canada.

Canadians are appalled at this action and we refuse to accept this 're-branding' of OUR country for the selfish political gain of one man. We feel this is a very serious matter and not something to be ignored.

We are sending the message to Stephen Harper that the Government in Canada is the Canadian Government. It is not Stephen Harper's Government. It is OUR government. My government, your government, Canada's Government, the government of every Canadian.

We wish to make it clear that Canadians DO care, very much, about the state of our Government.

145. I Am (Not Stephen Harper's) Canadian

The current governing party of Canada has issued a directive that reference to "Government of Canada" should be replaced by "Harper Government" in federal communications.

In changing the long-standing terminology "Government of Canada", the current governing party is seeking to equate its leader, Stephen Harper, with the the act of governing this country.

As a democracy, Canada is not run by one individual. It is a country run by an elected body, which is accountable to the people and answerable to the opposition.

In the words of Abraham Lincoln, "Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people."

The government of Canada is not Stephen Harper and Stephen Harper is not the government of Canada.

The government of Canada is the people and the people are the government of Canada.

One collective body, not one man, forms this government and make this country a beautiful place.

- - - -

Contexte :

146. Save Houtan Kian, Lawyer for Sakineh Ashtiani, from Execution!

According to the latest news received by the International Committees against Stoning and Execution, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s judiciary has sentenced Mr. Kian to four consecutive death sentences! Three of these have been revoked, but the fourth, which is to be execution by the method of hanging, is to be carried out. Mr. Kian has been told that his sentence will be implemented imminently.

Mr. Kian was arrested on October 10, 2010, along with two German reporters and Mrs. Ashtiani’s son, Sajjad Ghaderzadeh. He was first imprisoned in Tabriz, Iran and was later moved to section 209 of the infamous Evin Prison in Tehran, Iran. Our latest news from Mr. Kian is that he has been under prolonged and severe torture, and that his body is covered with bruises and cigarette burns. He has been transferred to the prison in Tabriz, Iran where they are planning his execution.

Mr. Kian’s mother, who resides in America, is currently in Iran to help release her son; however, she has been forbidden to talk to reporters and she is not allowed to leave Iran. Her husband, Houtan’s father, was executed by the Islamic Republic regime in 1981.

In a recent statement issued after the release of the two German reporters, the Islamic Republic has declared guilty and upheld the sentence for the fourth detainee, Mr. Kian.

Mr. Kian is a lawyer. He has represented prisoners who are on death row in Iran. And his most famous client is Sakineh Ashtiani.

We ask all human rights organization, at both local and international levels, as well as all groups and individuals who have been active in advocating for Sakineh’s release, to urgently call upon the Iranian regime to immediately release both Houtan Kian and Sakineh Ashtiani.

147. Save 'People First Lambeth'

Just got back from a Partnership Board meeting with Jim Dickson, Cabinet Minister for Health and Well Being and councillor in Lambeth to discuss the cuts. The council's budget has been cut by 10% yet they have cut People First, Lambeths only advocacy service for people with Learning Difficulties by 90% meaning they have to close down. They will basically confined to becoming prisoners in their own home, with fear of mockery on the streets and no access to training, to advocacy or most importantly to them, no social life.

Dickson had no excuse for cutting them other than "someone had to go" and avoided all questions about what will happen to people with learning difficulties once it is abolished in March. An organisation costing around only 70k a year to run, which pays for itself thousands of times over every year.

Please sign this petition to keep 'People First' going and let's save an organisation which is a saviour to others. Without it, we are condemning these people to a life of solitary confinement! Don't let the council do this!

149. Invergordon Residents Demand a Public Inquiry for the Incinerator

For over two years the community in and around the Invergordon areas pulled together to fight the proposed Incinerator for our town.

With a community mandate of nearly 4,000 against the incinerator, the community did win and the Highland councillors did as the community said and refused the planning application. But the decision was over turned at appeal by the Reporter Mr Danny Onn.

Thankfully Mr Al-Fayed and his team stepped in and took up the legal challenge against the current Scottish Government. This was won in December 2010 when the current Scottish Government conceded defeat and the Reporters decision was quashed in the Cout of Session.

This means that whilst the Reporters decision was quashed legally, the appellant (Glen Jones) original appeal against the H.C refusing planning permission still stands and another decision will be taken.

This means that we now need to make sure that we get to have our say democratically by ensuring we get a Public Local Inquiry to ensure that there is fairness and transparency for all concerned.
