91. One Primary

In 2008 millions of voters were disenfranchised in the Republican Primary. Due to the length of the primary season, many of the candidates had dropped out leaving the voters in the states that hold their primaries later in the season, with little or no choice.

For the 2012 primary, we would like to see more debates with candidates and then hold just One Primary in which everyone can vote for their favorite candidate.

92. Send long term unemployed to rebuild disaster affected areas

In the wake of the recent natural disasters around Australia, we have been inspired to “do something” about it. After researching the statistics on Centrelink’s website about the long term unemployed jobseekers received benefits, we have decided to use these figures as a basis for calculating what can be done.

As at December 2010 there were 155479 long term unemployed jobseekers in receipt of government benefits most of which are males residing in NSW followed closely by VIC. It’s a simplistic view to write these people off as “lazy”, “dole bludgers”, “unproductive citizens”. Perhaps in some cases this is true but for many it’s more complex than that, some have feelings of low self esteem and believe they have nothing to contribute.

Much compassion is needed for these people, most of us have experienced the lousy feelings of worthlessness stemming from periods of unemployment; it’s not something most of us would choose but after spending some time in that trapped feeling it can be hard to know how to break out. We at Hands and Hearts community assist program believe, like most Australians that everybody deserves a fair go which is why we have decided to launch this project to make use of the “spare hands” in the country and put them to work in areas of community that need rebuilding and other assistance, particularly government declared disaster zones. This project will be a challenge, particularly logistically which is why we will be looking into the possibilities of transport and accommodation sponsorship.

94. Overhaul the National Sex Offender Registry Immediately!

Since becoming law in 2004, Canada's National Sex Offender Registry has not assisted in ONE criminal case.

Registration isn't even mandatory. If a convicted sex offender is ordered onto the registry, the RCMP have no way to keep track of them. In Canada, our registry relies on the honour system, dependent on the goodwill of our convicted sex offenders.

Computer system is archaic - RCMP has needed to create separate hard copy systems, a Rolodex or an Excel spreadsheet.

There can be NO pro-active use, use is only for after a crime has occurred.

Annual budget for a National Sex Offender Registry to keep convicted pedophiles and predators away from our children is $400,000 (My Alberta Premier's salary is $208,000)

Correctional Services of Canada refuses to inform the RCMP of when convicted sex offender have finished their sentence.

Police Officers cannot access the system.

The Federal Government is obsessed with the privacy rights of our convicted sex offenders at the expense of the privacy rights of our children's bodies & souls.

Prosecutors are using the Registry as a negotiation chip during plea bargains. In other words: plead guilty, and even though you're a convicted sex offender, you won't have to register.

In Canada, we Pardon our convicted sex offenders.
When this is done, all information from the registry is destroyed.
Convicted sex offenders should never be allowed to be pardoned. After years of research and debate, it is clear that there is no cure for pedophilia.

97. Real Development Approach to Govern

Our "free" democracy reached dead end. Proofs of it are all around us; if you examine any given problem closely you will find so much nonsense, that you won't be surprised "solutions" hardly work. Governments have tendency of appointing new agency or special commission for particular cases. It's not only clogging, slowing down proper development.

What is worse that kind of approach does not work on real causes, which are left alone and treated as constants. It won't work. Never. Our only possibility to deal with problems in our society is to treat them as we treat and understand ecosystems. And any kind of political correctness trying to blind us will not help. We have to step out of present illusion(we will anyway - why not now) of economy rules. It is not freedom, it is not even democracy - now marketing rules the world. We are humans, not employees. "Economically viable" and "right" are not synonymous. Sooner we realize it the better.

As problem is so complex I will give here only two examples:

1. Children Rising
At the moment we let "Money & Power" paradigm educate our children(and ourselves for that matter). It results in all sorts of trouble: from bed behaviour to alcohol abuse to overweight. Source of those is the same: we are leaving our kids alone and the don't know what is right or wrong. Their only dream is "to be famous".They are treating projection as reality and are unable to cope with their intellectual and emotional needs. Not even million commissions won't solve it if we do not address the source.

2. Drug Abuse
Similar really to the above. It is disorder of society which manifest in emotional problems of individuals. No agency or prohibition will work.

Accept it. It is pretty obvious truth. It is what we will do with it what matters.

98. Say No To Fuel Cost Rises

In the UK we have taken price rise after price rise, it is now time to stand up to rip off Britain, Fuel prices have rocketed, Are the government trying to drive motorists off the road, Public transport is not a reasonable option, I have a 1hr Drive to work or a 3.5hr public transport when running which adds 5hrs on to my working day and I am not alone.

We need to rally together and tell the government that we are no longer willing to take this persecution. We need one petition to show our disgust and determination to have our say.

99. Save Kool Katz Surf School

Help us Save Kool Katz Learn to Surf School In Ballina, Australia from closing.

On January 31, 2011, Ballina's most popular surf school - Kool Katz Learn to Surf - will be forced to close because it did not bid high enough in Ballina shire council's first ever tender process.

Kool Katz owner Terry Hannon has been operating surf schools incident and litigation-free for 20 years, 11 years in Ballina Shire. He has an impeccable safety record.

Kool Katz offers a world exclusive surfing guarantee: "Stand and ride a wave for 40 metres or your money back!'' and is an asset to local, if not national tourism.

Kool Katz submitted a compliant tender but was outbidded for 3 available licenses by 2 existing Ballina surf schools and one instructor without an established surf school.

Ballina' Council's RFT stated that council did not have to choose the most ''financially viable'' tender.

Kool Katz raised a litany of concerns regarding the tender process including a non-pecuniary conflict of interest. Ballina Council investigated these, but their investigations did not result in an overturning of the tender decision as we expected.

New evidence about an additional non-pecuniary conflict of interest is still pending investigation by the council.

However, we would like to see a new and independent investigation opened up by the NSW ombudsman.

Kool Katz is currently one of the 2 most active surf schools in Ballina shire, taking more clients than 2 of the 3 successful tendering surf schools put together.

Once Kool Katz closes, one surf school will be left as the major operator and one family whose only occupation has been running surf schools will be out of their livelihood.

Tourism in Ballina will also be detrimentally affected with the elimination of a locally supported budget surf school option.

The BC Government is in negotiations with the RCMP to renew their contract in 2012.

With all the problems with RCMP officers being charged with criminal offenses and being suspended with pay for years while it works it's way through the courts and then through internal RCMP discipline committees the BC Government and the people have no say in in the mandate of the RCMP only Ottawa has jurisdiction, it's time to replace them with a provincial and municipal force.

103. Better Healthcare For Rural America

The citizens of Rural America face challenges daily attempting to access healthcare. Awareness of the issues that Rural residents face when obtaining healthcare needs to be publicized.

The United States Department of Health and Human Services has made a tremendous effort to bring awareness to the many barriers of healthcare for Rural Americans by publicizing many documents and through an informative website www.Healthcare.gov . Shockingly almost one third of adults living in rural areas are in poor to fair health. This shocking statistic is a result of the lack of access to adequate healthcare in rural areas.

Adequate healthcare is difficult to obtain in Rural America. The rural communities of America lack primary care physicians, adequate funding for health programs and preventive healthcare. Residents of Rural America struggle to obtain transportation to obtain healthcare because there are few local physicians and the healthcare providers available are a distance away. Many low income and impoverished rural families do not have transportation or their transportation is limited.

Like any other citizen insurance and unaffordable costs are factors hindering rural Americans from obtaining healthcare. The economic downfall has caused a rise in unemployment rates as well as the number of uninsured. Many Rural Americans are either uninsured or underinsured not able to cover the costs of healthcare. The government implemented and funded programs are not publicized in rural areas as much as they are in urban areas. The resources that larger and more urban areas have should also be available to rural America.

Government officials have continuously overlooked the issues that hinder so many families from obtaining healthcare. Many of the rural communities do not even have a local hospital or any type of educational health programs. There are very few almost no free health screening in rural areas. The rural community cannot be over looked any more the health of Rural American communities is suffering. Sign this petition to bring awareness to these issues and solutions and funding to Better the Healthcare for Rural America.

We, the Irish Citizens have voices, and it's high time we used them. We are calling for the Government to take considerable pay-cuts.

The Taoiseach and all other members should earn no more than 140,000 euro per year, and an expense account disallowed.

These are not outrageous demands. Other country leaders, such as the Prime Minister in the UK, and even the President of France earn a much smaller sum, per annum.

105. Support the campaign for entertainment agency licensing

Since 1995 there has been no requirement for agents/agencies operating in the entertainment industry to be licenced. BECTU, Equity and the National Association of Supporting Artistes Agents believe this situation leaves performers, artistes and other entertainment workers vulnerable to exploitation.

It is a fact that some agents make promises they simply cannot keep - fame, fortune, regular work and easy money - when the reality is that people keen to work in the sector are charged upfront fees the cost of which is never recouped. Current legislation does not go far enough to protect the innocent and the vulnerable. With the government's help some of the worst abuses can be curbed.

108. Request for a public vote on an 'opt-out' organ donor system

As of the end of September 2010 there is a little over 8000 people waiting for a potentially life saving or life changing organ donation. Each year around 3000 transplants are carried out, but sadly that is still below the number of people added to the register. More than 400 patients die each year while on the waiting list.

Up to 90% of the UK population support organ donation but only 24% have joined the NHS Organ Donor Register. Many people tell the NHS it is simply just something they "have not got round to doing". (Source NHS)

The UK Government have spent many years procrastinating about implementing an 'opt-out' organ donation system, but they have been unable to make a decision.

I am not suggesting that we try and badger the government to make the hard decision here. What I am suggesting is that they give the public the responsibility of making the decision for them.
I would like to believe that we are mature enough to take the responsibility upon ourselves and we might finally get around having something done to help reduce the number on the waiting list.

It may be obvious from reading between the lines that personally I am FOR the opt-out scheme and I am gambling that if it went to a public vote, that is how the general public would vote. But having said that, if you are flat against the opt-out system this petition is ALSO FOR YOU, as you will have your say if it goes to a vote, rather than the government deciding for you.

Some other facts from the NHS :-

You are (currently) more likely to need a transplant than become a donor.

30% of the people on the NHS Organ Donor Register are aged between 16 and 25 when they join.

All the major religions support organ donation and many actively promote it.

Repeated surveys show that the majority of the public support organ donation.

A donor can donate a heart, lungs, two kidneys, pancreas, liver and can restore the sight of two people by donating their corneas.

Donors can also give bone and tissue such as skin, heart valves and tendons. Skin grafts have helped people with severe burns and bone is used in orthopaedic surgery.

Transplanting a kidney patient costs around £26,000 in the first year for surgery and drugs and £7,500 a year thereafter - £56,000 over five years. A patient remaining on dialysis would cost between £98,000 and £148,000 over the same period.

Finally, I do not work for the NHS. I am simply an interested party.

Thank you.

113. Limiting Telecommunications For Candidates During Election Year

In the 2010 election year, our family has personally received an average of 5 pieces of junk mail per day supporting or attacking candidates for local and national offices.

Along with this, we receive an average of 3-5 phone calls from various groups, some pre-recorded, and most during our dinner hour or after our children are in bed.

Finally, during a one hour period of television in the afternoon, I personally counted 12 political ads, each 30 seconds or longer. Money is frivolously spent by these candidates and groups to attempt to win votes. Such advertisements are a waste of time, money and precious resources (such as paper).

Many with whom I've discussed my concerns with are discouraged from voting for anyone because the lead up to elections is so out of control.

116. Money for drug users and alcoholics but not for fulltime students?

Did you know that currently, if I were to sit on my backside all day watching day time television and drinking and smoking my life away, I'd be able to claim more in benefits than most people who are working earn. Is that right? Is that the sort of person you want your taxes to support?

Or would you rather your taxes go towards helping someone support themselves through college so that they can get a decent job at the end of it and pay back what they've claimed?

I am a young person living independently and trying to put myself through full time college whilst support my family at the same time. As it stands, I am not entitled to any money to help pay the bills or pay for household essentials, and what is this going to lead to? It's going to lead to me and my partner dropping out of college and claiming benefits for a lot longer than our 2 year college courses.

CHD's a the number one killer in babies and many often go undetected until the child dies and a post mortem is carried out. 120. Stop the government scrapping child tax benefit for a single income of a higher tax rate payer in the household

Child benefit is to be axed for higher-rate taxpayers from 2013, ChancellorLabour said the benefit should remain universal and the families who wanted to "get on" were being penalised.

Mr Osborne also revealed the total state benefits one family can claim in future will be capped at about £26,000.

This will mean that no family on welfare will be better off than one earning an average income from work, the chancellor said.

He outlined the steps in a major speech in which he defended the government's austerity measures as cuts "not for their own sake" but savings "to secure our future".

About 7.7 million families with children currently get child benefit, costing about £12bn a year. George Osborne has announced.
