31. 16th Avenue Noise Attenuation Wall 
The primary purpose of the proposed wall at the 16th Avenue interface with the Rosedale community is to provide necessary noise attenuation for the residents who live beside the street, the 6-lane east-west trucking route through Calgary.
It should perform to this standard. Any break in the continuity of the wall is a weak point for noise attenuation.
The City of Calgary tender drawings for the Rosedale interface, on view at the City construction office at 1635 7th St NW, show the wall with breaks, about 15 - 20 ft long, at the end of every street block where there is a remnant lot in the community. The lot is to be redeveloped with an infill house and an alley link. The infill house is intended to function as the continuation of the noise attenuation, across the alley from the break in the wall.
The reason given by the City and its representatives, for providing these breaks, is that it will relieve the visual monotony of a continuous wall. This reason is doubtful given that wall is being designed with such a high level of detail and variation, and with extensive landscaping on the 16th Avenue side.
-The breaks are a weak point in the wall that will allow traffic noise to bleed into the neighbourhood.
-The breaks are a safety hazard. There will be no real barrier to absorb a vehicle from veering off of 16th avenue into the neighbourhood.
-The breaks create confusion on a pedestrian scale. Pedestrians will walk down alleys rather than neighbourhood streets.
32. Simon Shaw's Sentence DOES NOT fit the crime
After being found guilty of arson and recklessly endangering lives and causing £4,500 damage, the boy was given a year long supervision order, with six months concurrent intensive supervision, and was ordered to pay my sister a pathetic £200.
Darlington Member Of Parliament, Alan Milburn has pledged to look into the sentence, saying the family has endured enough. "Misuse of fireworks makes lives a misery and it is up to the authorities to show this behaviour will not be tolerated," he said.
"This family has clearly been through an ordeal. They need to know the courts are on their side."

35. Student Code of Conduct - Fair hearing in regards to the Robert Rubio incident.
My child was given 3 day suspention and then we went to a hearing and he was given 20 days DAEC for hitting another student, who for the entire school year, has been inciting and engaging in bullying, intimidation by name calling, using derogatory statements that finally disrupted the school program to incite violence as the only means to defend himself (the school has done nothing to the other boys, other than telling one boy to go tell the other two to knock it off).
This is not acceptable and needs to be handled in an appropriate fair manner for all concerned. We consider this discrimination and would like a fair hearing with School board, Principal, councelors and students teachers, to come to a fair ruling to all the students involved and put an end to this type of behavior, which these 3 boys have been getting away with for years,.

The petition of certain citizens of New South Wales
State that:
* Recreational drug use has not been stopped or solved by punitive measures.
* Recreational drug use is a health issue, more than an issue of Law and Order.
* Recreational drug USE is not and never has been an issue of morality. (Matthew 26:27-29)
* Chemical purity recreational drug tests are available to the general public for commercial sale.
* Recreational drug use has become a cultural and social emblem of individual identity. (e.g. tobacco and alcohol.)
* Recreational drug users can maintain and facilitate constructive and professional employment, and otherwise lead normal, healthy, pro-active lives.
* There should be a responsible use of fear in our society.
* Through sound and legitimate communication, guidance, support and education, young people should be encouraged to take responsibility for the repercussions of their actions, and faith, self-confidence and courage in making their own decisions.
Your petitioners request that the House
* move for the legalisation of drug use. Under the following provision of successful application of a Recreational drug health test from a registered Medical Practitioner. The test could include tobacco and alcohol. Successful applicants would be given a "prescription" to be given to a registered chemist/pharmacist, thus regulation preventing overdose and assuring quality control. The unsuccessful applicants would be referred to appropriate counselling support groups for hospitalisation and treatment. All the collated data would be sent to the appropriate administration for scientific medical and authoritarian research. Anti-social behaviour could also result in a probationary application period.
37. Asians treated unfairly by Mr. Albert
Mr. Albert made certain contradictions to his "promises" to treat Asians differently or make harsher consequences. In one case, he had excluded Asian witnesses unreasonably to make the Asian victim's case more difficult. After the Asian victim, alone without the witness, was harrassed and mocked in racial discrimination toward Chinese, she was not given a right to speak in the office. The two other students bullying her did not get a consequence because they lied to him, telling a false story and the Asian girl ended up being the one to apologize.
In another case, saying he didn't see someone make a physical offense, the student was left without a consequence. When an Asian student was accused for pushing another student due to racial discrimination, he was suspended without Mr. Albert witnessing the situation. Saying he did not witness the situation before this, there was no consequence for the student making a physical offense.
In the racial discrimination issue, he stated again he did not see the situation, but the Asian student was suspended. After telling his side of the story about racial discrimination treated toward him regarding Asians, Mr. Albert made a phone call to the parents suggesting anger management courses. Respectively, the Asians in these cases did not deserve the harsh treatments given by Mr. Albert.
38. "The Threat is Real" - We must Protect the lives of our children NOW

I ask you to do this for me, please take a few minutes, get into your car and drive to the nearest school in your town. Walk inside the school and observe what you'll see.
For those of you that don't want to get into the car and drive, let me tell you what you'll see.
Open, unsecure doors. Empty, unattended hallways. Unprotected driveways leading into critical areas and Unprotected air conditioning systems.
Now with what just happened in Russia, can we as parents stand-by and allow the government to place our children at risk 5 days a week, 40+ weeks a year, with absolutely no protection?
What can we do to prevent Russia's school house massacre from happing inside the United States or any other country?
The technology is here to protect our young.
The need is IMMEDIATE.
Let me tell you how I would protect our children.
First I would implement a National school only database that housed every child's medical, and school history.
I would install swipe card/thumbprint access to each room inside every school, and the exterior doors,
I would issue everyone in schools a unique swipe card or use thumbprint recognition.
The child would swipe or thumb as they walk in the door, and as they walk into all communal area's such as library, gym, cafeteria, and all rooms.
This would allow for the national database to create a MUSTER report just like chemical plants, airlines, and the military have.
The muster report would be able to provide who exactly is in each room in any given school house at any given time, within 5 minutes.
EMT would have access to medical files instantly for medical purposes
Law enforcement would know exactly how many children were in danger, and WHO.
More research would have to be done
Also,
I would install cameras in all gyms, hallways, entrances, sensitive equipment areas, and drives.
And hire 2 security guards per school to man the camera's and foot patrols.
This is a petition to implement this system in every school in the US. Those of you not in the US, copy this page and use it for yourself. This is a real threat, that needs IMMEDIATE attention.

42. Give Kok Yong Quan heavier punishment
On Friday, 07 May 2004, the culprits of the multiple theft cases around the school were apprehended and caned in front of the school. It's called "public caning" for those who do not know.
However, the truth is that, only one of them committed the actual crime, called "theft", and made use of the other four. In the end, he dragged the other four down with them as they had a share in the thefts. The word "accomplice" is not suitable as they did not commit theft along with that person. His name is Kok Yong Quan (referred to as Kok hereafter). Basically, he shared the money he had stolen with the other four and told them to keep the handphones.
And on that day, the five of them got two strokes of the cane each. As we all know, the pain was not really there but the humiliation was.
We are all upset and enraged by the decision of whoever that allowed the other to receive the same amount of punishment as Kok, as he was the mastermind. Nah. We just feel and think that Kok should be given a harsher punishment and be identified as the mastermind behind the thefts. That way, the school will be impressed by how he managed to steal so many things yet disgusted by his actions.
Mrs Goh said that the five of them had felt remorseful and are willing to change. She also added that we should forgive and accept them. Fine. No problem with that. However, I would like to point that the fact that Kok is not a first time offender of thievery. The rest had been given a second chance because it's their first time committing this offence, but for a second time offender? I said second time, not second chance. If he had really felt remorseful the first time, would he do it the second time? And if he can do it the second time, why would he not do it a third time? Besides, he was also responsible for the vandalisms that happened in the sec 3 level, and we all got scolded by Mr Lim because of that.
This petition was not started by me, cpl Soh, alone, but by quite a few people. Danson, Yize, etc. Just take it that this petition is set up by no one. It is just meant to voice out the feelings of many people and what we want. If you are not one of those agree with this petition, then don't sign in. Nobody is forcing you to. I just want to let everybody know that all I did was to set up this petition. It does not matter who does. The petition is here because it is here. If you really think that this petition was here because someone wanted it to be here, there are dozen of signatures to prove you wrong. Any one of them could start this petition. To end off, we want Kok to fork out everything for the compensation, instead of all five of them . He stole everything, therefore he should pay for it.

44. Appeal Against Bad Umpiring By Steve Bucknor
All Indian Cricket Fans were horrified by the terrible decision made by steve bucknor to give tendulkar out when the ball was clearly going well over the stumps during the First Test Match between India and Australia. This was his first mistake and can be forgiven as a human being. But what about other bad decisions given by him?
During the last test match ,the Indians were peeved with the Bucknor for turning down appeals against Justin Langer and Damien Martyn on the final day which were clear-cut cases of leg-before decisions. If these decisions were right, might be India would have won the series!
And now once again he had given bad decisions during the First ODI played during VB series.First he didn't give Andrew Symonds LBW when he was on 58, further he went ahead making 88 runs. He was reluctant to give Wides when India was batting. Thus he didn't give India 4 Genuine Wides.
Probably for the first time, we have realized how badly does an umpire decision influence the match!
And it is surely unjust that the final result could be determined not by the excellence of the cricket, but the ineptness of the umpiring. It brought two key issues into the spotlight, which the ICC would do well to consider seriously: age and technology.
It is not ageist to say that age should be a factor that should be considered in umpiring. It is a demanding profession that requires physical fitness, speed of response, sharpness of sight and depth perception. It is not prejudice, but scientific fact, to say that all of these diminish as one grows older. To stand in the field for six hours, concentrating acutely all throughout, shifting attention within micro-seconds from the bowler's crease (for no-balls) to the batsman's crease, factoring in a dozen different factors in a matter of seconds, and often dealing with the emotions of players and crowds, is a gruelling exercise. Both the body and the mind have to be in peak condition for it.

47. Mrs. Boone Should Not Be Essex High School Girls Basketball Varsity Coach
The reason behind this petition is that some people feel that Mrs. Boone didn't go about the right way in selecting the players for the Varsity team. Two seniors who have played since 8th grade were cut from the team, one was given a bad explanation and the other person wasn't given one at all. She told a parent of a child who was cut that her child was not good enough as some other players to be on the team and that if she was on the team she would sit on the bench. What kind of thing is that to say to someone?
We feel that seniors should have some advantage when being picked for a team compared to 9th and 10th graders, who have the rest of high school to play varsity. Why should they come in and take senior spots when we can only play varsity not junior varsity and that this is our last year ever to play high school basketball again.

Fernando, vettethreat94z, was once a member of CamaroZ28.Com's message board. He was far from a "regularly-posting" member. His many posts were once filled with sincerity, jest and, at times, vital information. Sure, he was out of line at times, but he always made sure to never push the limits of the board moderators and administrators...

54. Ban the Selling of Pet Shop Puppies
We are most concerned at the increase of puppies and dogs being sold throughout Petshops in New Zealand. The numbers are increasing dramatically and some Breeders in NZ appear to be breeding for the Pet Shop Market and puppies being sold for huge amounts of money.
Not enough information is being given out re the Breeds of dogs, the sizes they grow to, the care they need, a suitable environment or contact with people in the same Breeds.
Many of these dogs once grown are being dumped into Rescue organisations or left to wander the streets until impounded. There are many horror stories and we are becoming aware of more.
We are also concerned about health issues with the puppies, after hearing of many cases with puppies being sold with fatal viruses or congenital diseases, usually unbeknown to the purchaser.
A Pet shop is not a suitable environment to sell a puppy from. There is not enough people contact, no training can be given and one of our worst concerns is what happens to the puppies who are not sold after 3 months of age?
We feel there are enough unwanted puppies and dogs in New Zealand, without Pet Shops adding to the problem by encouraging backyard breeders and puppy farmers to mate their bitch with the dog down the road, to produce some puppies to sell to the local petshop. These puppies are then sold on with no background checks on the new owners, no property inspections and no investigation into the suitability of the new owner for the breed.
We find it hard to understand why any dog breeder would place their puppies into Petshops to onsell and the only reason has to be monetary....
MAF has guidelines on the Selling of Companion Animals but we are aware that these are not being adhered to in alot of cases and are very hard for MAF and the SPCA to police.
This petition gives you a chance to express your feelings on the subject of puppies/dogs being sold through Petshops.
We, the undersigned, will be boycotting all things ABC and Disney as of October 3, 2003 unless the daytime drama Port Charles is not cancelled or at least given a wrap-up arc.
56. Repeal the honour given to Sir Shridat Ramphal
We the undersigned are petitioning the Indian Government to repeal the awarding of the Indira Gandhi prize to Shridath Ramphal on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, India Day Celebrations, January 9-11th, 2003.
We consider Mr. Ramphal to be unworthy of this prize because of the well-documented atrocities that he committed as a member of Burnham's corrupt regime. Since it was people of Indian origin who mainly suffered as a result, India should not be conferring such an honour.
We believe that by honouring such a man, India is dishounoring not only the award processes but the name of the Honourable Indira Gandhi herself.

57. Boycott & Recall "KItchen Witchery"
I have started this petition, due to the fact that the vast majority of the recipes contained within this "book" come from (or are barely alterations of) Cunningham's work, and the "secret" to "always stir clockwise" also comes directly from Cunningham's "The Complete Book of Incense, Oils & Brews" in which he also gives advice on "buying, storing & blending essential oils" as a trained aromatherapist. What can also be found in this book, verbatum, are Cunningham's "Tables for Magickal Substitution", and several recipes from from Laurie Cabot's work, among others. One such glaring example was what Marilyn titles "Organic Love Potions". She states: "Combine any 3 of the following ingrednients in 1 cup of water: apples, cloves, cinnamon, lovage-root powder, yarrow flowers, strawberry oil, patchouli Oil, or musk oil." This exact recipe can be found in Laurie Cabot's book "Power Of The Witch", thusly (published more than a decade prior), "A bewitching, organic, perfume starts with herbs and spices. Simmer any three of the following ingredients in a cup or two of spring water with a tablespoon of sea salt: apples, cloves, cinnamon, lovage-root powder, yarrow flowers, strawberry oil, patchouli Oil, or musk oil." And, no credit is given to any of the authors for their own creative genius. In fact, Marilyn doesn't include the use of sea salt in her publication, which isn't wise by any means, due to the fact that Laurie adds sea salt to her water-based potions as a preservative!
So, as unkind as it may sound, this is a work of pure plagiarism. In fact, I owned my copy for a total of 15 minutes. Until I gave this book a closer look. Needless to say, I returned it for a prompt refund, stating exactly why, to the management. I also saw many of the Farrar's recipes included, as well. In another of Cunningham's books, he lists a variety of ingredients associated with each directional wind, like lavender, for the East Wind, as an example. Well, this very table was also included in Marilyn's big orange book, for goodness sake! So, I certainly wouldn't waste almost $30 for other authors' work, when they are not given credit. Especially when I happen to own the originals, anyway (which are oftimes touted as "classics").
Cunningham's famous "Table of magickal substitutions" is also included! What's more, whereas Cunningham detailed how one might go about choosing a substitution, Mariylyn does not, leaving the reader to pick at them will-nilly without a real grasp at why! And, this author calls herself a "Wiccan HPs"??? I am at a loss for words, here, I'm afraid. I am very disappointed. In fact, I kindy E-Mailed the publisher (as well as several Pagan owned/operated businesses who were selling this book) to make them aware of what I'd personally wittnessed. None of them so much as offered me the decency of a reply.
According to the US Copyright Office, "Mere listings of ingredients as in recipes, formulas, compounds or prescriptions are not subject to copyright protection. However, where a recipe or formula is accompanied by substantial literary expression in the form of an explanation or directions, or when there is a combination of recipes, as in a cookbook, there may be a basis for copyright protection." So, I am personally E-Mailing the authors' publisher with regards to this book, such as Llewellyn and Pheonix Publications and Laurie Cabot's publisher. If you would like to see these authors credited for their works, and recieve the money due to them and their publisher, I strongly suggest that you adopt similar actions!
Many dogs are forced to endure a life of neglect, isolation and terrible extreme temperatures. Their entire life they are commited to be chained, roped or otherwise tethered outdoors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. An existence of despair, often , without benefit of adequate shelter. Barely given enough food or water, they are tied and forgotten. Tell the congressmen and women of this Commonwealth that you want a change dog laws to ban this terrible practice. Make it an enforceable crime for dog owners to "tie 'em and forget 'em". Thank you

This petition is to ensure Warner Brother records take note of the fans' requests.
In past years they have clearly shown little regard for fans' wishes to release the best tracks by Madonna.
Participants of this petition demand that "Nothing Fails", one of the premier tracks in Madonnas career is given a global release.
Anything less than a video and commercial is a disgrace.
60. Petition against Prf. Hanumara
Signing this petition states that you agree that Hanumara's exam was too long for the allotted time given to us in class. Hence not allowing us to perform to our full potential, and therefore dramatically lowering our grades on the exam. Signing this also indicates that you are aware that all prior attempts to converse with Hanumara have been met with contempt and a very unprofessional attitude. Signing ones name on this petition is equivalent to filing a formal complaint stating that the exam was an inaccurate representation of ones knowledge of the material due to time constraints, and in turn lowering your test average dramatically.
