Petition Tag - figure skating
1. New Totem Figure Skating Club 
Dear New Westminster City Council,
These signatures have been collected due to an ever growing demand for a Figure Skating Club in New Westminster, specifically to have the reinstatement of the Totem Figure Skating Club. The excitement the sport has generated during the 2010 Olympics has increased the skating community in New Westminster by leaps and bounds.
Joannie Rochette made all Canadians proud this year by capturing a Bronze medal on Canadian Soil. Sadly, our only option for a Figure Skating Club is to go to neighbouring cities such as Burnaby or Coquitlam.
We are asking that the skaters of New Westminster have an opportunity to represent their own city at any future skating competitions. The following signatures are proof that the Totem Figure Skating club would be welcomed back to New Westminster.

2. Include Johnny Weir in Stars on Ice Tour
Johnny Weir is a 3-time US National Champion, a World Bronze Medalist, a 2-time Grand Prix Final Bronze Medalist, and a 2-time Olympian.
Johnny Weir is a popular skater with families and fans of all ages. He represents strong family values, including respect for individuality and supporting the self-esteem of all children.
We would like to know if perhaps Johnny has not been invited on the Stars on Ice Tour because the sponsors deem him to be "not family friendly." We would like to have an explanation of why this popular Olympian is not on the tour.
3. Permanent Ice rink for Cambridge
Thousands of people watched Torvill and Dean skate to victory - I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see British skaters go for gold again. For the past few years Cambridge has had an ice rink at Christmas.
These have been huge successes but still there isn't a permanent rink. It would profit the general public and people like me who have to travel 45 mins - 1 hour to get to the nearest ice rink. Skating is an intense calorie burning, beautiful and fun sport, and for England to progress and become a renowned skating country we need many more rinks - so please help me to put England on the map as a skating sensation country
