1. Improve CHS Field Conditions
The Carlisle Field Hockey Fields are unsafe, problematic to maintain, and noncompetitive.
Field Hockey Fields need to be level to prevent unnecessary ball injuries and promote the safety of our players. However, constant use, soil conditions, and weather conditions, make this nearly impossible to maintain. For example, a field hockey ball can travel at speeds well past 50 mph. When this happens on a bumpy surface, the bounce is unpredictable and results in needless injuries. This is a daily occurrence and the injuries are innumerable.
Small sink holes in the field have resulted in unnecessary injuries, for example, two strained ankles and one severely sprained ankle requiring rehabilitation and weeks of lost playing time (2011 season). During the 2012 season one official considered cancelling the game due to improper field conditions and had to ask the opposing team permission to play the game.
Ground maintenance is difficult due to weather conditions. For example, the summer heat requires a watering schedule and in order to prevent the grass from dying from climate or use issues, it is ideal to keep the grass blade length higher. Small sink holes are found nearly every year and must be fixed. Areas overused create dead zones and uneven surfaces. This is a safety hazard and also compromises field quality.
The maintenance staff must reach a delicate balance of keeping the grass long enough to survive, while short enough to be playable. Often the latter is what suffers due to the need for grass coverage by the end of the season. Another problem is the consistency of the grass (some dense, others sparse), which also affects the quality of the game.
Another problem is that our grass fields are open to the public, which leads to vandalism of cages, bleachers, storage bins, and the field itself. Cans, bottles, and other harmful objects have been found lying on the field on numerous occasions. In one instance, a coach had to get a tetanus shot after suffering a deep cut from a rusty object lodged in the field.
Carlisle players have a bumpy grass surface and are forced to use different techniques in order to play the ball. Without a turf field to practice on, our players are at a disadvantage. In the 2012 season, 44.4% of games were played on turf and 89% of games were either on turf or against teams with access to turf. This puts Carlisle Field Hockey at an extreme disadvantage, especially when playoff games are played on turf.
Another disadvantage is that fundamental skills are easily taught and mastered on an even playing surface. However, on an uneven field with thick, long grass, fundamentals can not be perfected because players are forced to improperly adjust to the playing surface.
2. Allow the Metrowest Colonials to play at Bowditch Field
The Metrowest Colonials being a Framingham-based amateur full contact football club is in need of a home-field and respectfully request the use of Bowditch Field.
3. John Hollingsworth Field at RMHS
John Hollingsworth served the citizens and youth of Reading for 27 years as school teacher, coach, athletic director, and mentor with humility, compassion, humor and honesty. He is the longest tenured football coach in RMHS history.
Over a span of twenty years, he coached five Middlesex League champions, won 100 games, and has been elected to both the Massachusetts Football Coach and RMHS Athletics Halls of Fame. Coach Hollingsworth is arguably the most successful football coach in RMHS history, and his on-field record is unassailable. However, for the community in which he lived and raised his family, his impact stretches far beyond the field, into the classroom, and through the fabric of Reading life.
There is no greater example of leadership and devotion to Reading's youth, as he inspired generations of Reading students to live principled lives and strive for excellence through discipline, hard work and unwavering commitment. More than 25 years after his retirement, scores of Reading families fondly remember this man, his words, his demeanor, and his general approach to life. It is because of these of these attributes that his impact shines to this day.
As a means of honoring its most influential educators, the Reading Public Schools established a process for naming various educational facilities after deserving individuals. Suggestions for naming the football field for Coach Hollingsworth have been floated about since the 1980s, but there was no defined means to make this happen. By following the newly created process, a group of ardent supporters nominated Coach Hollingsworth in 2010. His name was the only finalist chosen by a special Naming Sub-Committee to be forwarded to the School Committee for consideration. In February, 2011, contrary to strong public support and the Naming Sub-Committee’s recommendation, the Reading School Committee rejected John Hollingsworth as worthy of this honor by a 5-1 vote.
The explanations given to date for this decision seem to be at odds with the clear intent of the facility naming process. No other names have been placed in nomination and no objections have been voiced by the school committee members regarding Coach Hollingsworth's character, contributions or record of achievement.
We feel the School Committee's decision is arbitrary and without merit. We therefore ask that the School Committee immediately reopen the nomination of John Hollingsworth for public discourse, re-examine the merits of his nomination and, accordingly, name the football field at Reading Memorial High School “John Hollingsworth Field”. Doing so will not only honor the man, but also the Town of Reading and all of its citizens, past and present.
4. No enclosure of Longthorpe field
Peterborough City Council Children’s Services Dept, on behalf of Longthorpe Primary School, seek to erect a security fence enclosing most of the recreational field adjacent to the school. The proposal is shown on a drawing included with their planning application for some building extension works at the school.
The application can be seen on the City Council website at www.peterborough.gov.uk/planning_and_building/planning_and_building_online.aspx (you have to accept the Copyright notice then enter Bradwell Road in the search box which appears).
The area which would be enclosed is approximately 1.2 hectares (nearly 3 acres), which is a significant proportion of the open green space available to local residents of Netherton, Longthorpe and South Bretton. Approximately 1500 people live within 10 minutes walk of the field. The field is particularly valuable to residents as a space for casual and organised sports, being the only local area having reasonably flat ground, being unobstructed by trees and being broad enough that sports do not impinge on neighbouring houses.
Local inhabitants have enjoyed unrestricted access to the field ever since the surrounding estates were developed over 30 years ago. The field is well used for many recreational purposes at all times of year and by all members of the community, young children, youths and adults alike.
As intended in planning of the area, the field is also used by Longthorpe school, weather and timetable permitting; they use it for sports and in summer lunch breaks. The school claim their intent now to fence off the field is to better safeguard their pupils, who may otherwise be exposed to dog mess and to the risk of abduction. The originator of this petition believes the school’s concerns are exaggerated and that any potential problems can be overcome by supervision of children on the field, as happens at present and has been effective in the past. This approach has meant that joint use of the field by school and local inhabitants has taken place harmoniously and without problem for over 30 years.
5. Vancouver Track & Field Facility Petition
Vancouver has been without a dedicated Track & Field facility since 1982 when the Empire Stadium track as removed. The city needs a track and field facility that will allow for the training of school and club athletes, as well as all members of the public in a safe environment and also provide the opportunity to host events to at the provincial level and possibly beyond; at present there is no facility where this is possible.
The lack of such a facility limits the ability of schools and clubs to expose the school age citizens to the sport of track and field.
The Vancouver Parks Board budget planning process for 2012-2014 is just beginning and it is important that the facility is given priority.
Please show your support by signing this petition. The approximate cost of such a facility would be $3.5 million.
6. Support for a Hillsborough Dog Park
Petition to build a fenced in area for dogs in the old ball field on Route 114 across from Patty's Place Restaurant. There is plenty of open space and it is not being used for anything else. It would only take a few chain link fences and a few garbage cans.
Off-leash dog areas, or dog parks, provide a community setting in which people can gather and socialize and where they can observe the interaction of groups of dogs at play. Dog parks the world over allow owners and their dogs to spend time together while the dog satisfies its cravings for canine play and companionship.
There are no dog parks or fenced in areas for pets to roam free in this area, and driving over 40 kms to the nearest one (Centennial Park) is a hassle.
The unconditional love of a companion animal is very beneficial for the elderly, many of whom are unable to properly exercise their dogs and who stand to benefit from taking their dogs to a dog park.
So if you would like to see an un-leashed dog park in Hillsborough, please sign this petition.

7. Let Fairlawn Local Schools have Football
For an example Sidny Schools were falling through so we got some of there athletes... An I think they should still have a chance to play. We don't have to buy a new stadium all we need is some lines and a couple of field goal posts and we can use the new soccer field.. All we need is your help..
8. Re-naming of Perry High's Baseball Field
The Perry Bullpen is seeking support in attempting to re-name our High School Baseball Field in the name of Head Coach Frank Gamble. Coach Gamble has coached in Ohio for 37 years and 20 years at Perry. He is in the Top 10 in the state in total wins as a coach (537), belongs to 4 Ohio High School baseball Halls of Fame, has a .614 winning percentage while at Perry, has the Top 12 most winning seasons in Perry History and 15 of the top 20 seasons.
Additionally Coach Gamble has led the charge in raising of $500,000 in financial support for our baseball program. This includes (New lights, New dugouts, Fencing, Batting Cages, Score Board, Grass Seed, Replacement dirt, Brick Dust, New Concession Stand and much more) We would like to petition the Perry School Board for approval in renaming our field in Coach Gambles honor.
9. New Mytchett Concrete Skatepark
The Mytchett skatepark itself, skateboarders feel very limited to one ramp. the wooden ramp of the park is chipped and is hard for skateboarders to skate, this damage is caused by the bmxers, having a concrete park and bowl next to the existing, wouldn't get damaged, and would be used so much more by the skateboarding community.
10. Student’s Right to use the Campus our Tuition and Tax Dollars Built at the U of U
"Lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical physical exercise save it and preserve it." ~Plato
A group of approximately 25 students of all races, nationalities and ethnicities, was recently denied access to soccer fields located near the HPER buildings to play “The Worlds Beautiful Game”, soccer, on a late Thursday evening. The students were also warned that security would be called if they proceeded to use the empty soccer field.
The reason’s for denial of use of the field that were stated in a brief conversation with an administrator at the College of Health, the College responsible for the field, were that the students did not reserve the field, but also did not pay $30 an hour to utilize the field.
It is interesting to note that in years past, this fee was not applied to anyone who used these fields but is now being done so due to recent budget cuts. Ironically, all 25 of the students could have swiped their U-cards to use the heated indoor pool inside the HPER complex or have gone to the Field House to play basketball, lift weights, or play indoor soccer. The students would not have been charged further to use those facilities.
It quickly became apparent the ‘Mandatory Fee’s’ that are addendum to students tuition did not cover this field. Rudimentary research to ascertain what the ‘Mandatory Fees’ that accompany the tuition are quickly shows that these fee’s go to: ‘ASUU Activity, Athletic, Building, Collegiate Reader Program, Computing, Fine Arts, Utilities, Health, Library, Publication Council, Recreation, Study Abroad, Sustainability, and Transportation budgets.’ In light of the highlighted budgets, it would seem evident that use of the soccer fields is a fundamental right that students garner when attending this institution
This denial of campus grounds is far more egregious after contacting the city and county about their reservation policies and charges on the use of their soccer fields, softball fields, basketball courts, and tennis courts and discovered that the city and county do not charge for use of their facilities, even in this economic recession. In addition, BYU does not force their students to reserve and pay to use campus ground.
To add to this incendiary act, the group of students was of an international origin, making this denial of use an international disgrace. Despite being a large commuter campus, student life of all forms should be supported; especially those activities that are constructive and healthy in nature. In light of student fee’s paid, burdening students further with financial obligations to play something that is otherwise free elsewhere is in principal a folly and sinister in nature, especially since one of the fields is in near unplayable condition,

11. Gordon Bell deserves Green Space
I think Gordon Bell high school should have a Green Space AKA FIELD.
12. Ban Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich And His Wife From Wrigley Field
More details of our governor's corruption scandal are coming out. I have read pieces of what is on the tapes. I am appalled at what he was trying to do. He was trying to leverage influence on the process of the Cubs sale. His wife was heard in the background chirping her opinion on slowing its progress for their own gains. I think one recourse the Cubs have against these people, even if they spend years in jail, is to ban Rod and Patty Blagojevich from Wrigley Field for life.
I have seen Blago (who resembles Kudzu from the comic strip of the same name) wearing his Cubs hat and proclaiming Cubbie love. His actions, as well as those of his wife Patty(daughter of Alderman Dick Mel) prove that he is a disgrace to Cubs fans and is not deserving of the chance to see them even if he has a ticket. He should never be allowed to see a game in person or enter Wrigley Field again. If he sneaks in, fans should surround him and toss him through the turn-style.
I look forward to hearing the Cubs publicly state that he and his wife are banned from the ballpark for life. Let's make it happen. Let's show the Blagos and Mels that the Cubs organization does not stand for such disgrace. Trying to win a pennant is hard enough without scum like this getting in the way.
Because Quick Comments is a new approach to user feedback we think the opinion of people knowledgeable in the field will help get the attention of potential funding sources.
We are experimenting with this technique as a means to attract capital; all names are confidential and will only be disclosed to potential funding sources.
14. GBYF Petition to use High School Football Field for Game Days
Grand Blanc Youth Football a non-profit community tackle football program has been denied use of the High School Football Athletic Field for Home football games.
The Grand Blanc School Adminstration has provided the reason of safety concerns for physical education student s and high school football players.
In the Interim the Grand Blanc Youth Football program will be playing our 3 home games outside of the Grand Blanc community.
15. Hey Mayor of Pitman, can we park in your driveway?
*There is currently a new "Municipal Parking Lots" ordinance that will be in effect starting September 1, 2008.
*This ordinance will require Pitman residents who do not have parking at their homes, to purchase a parking permit to park in a public lot. Without purchasing this overnight parking permit for $100 per year, overnight parking in a public lot is prohibited. (For more information please see the flyer or go to www.pitman.org)
*Parking is difficult already for most residents who reside near the historial Pitman Grove. Most houses do not have driveways for parking to begin with. Some houses only have partially paved alley ways to park in. With these alley ways only partially paved, it makes getting in and out very difficult especially during winter months when it snows.
*We are also not allowed to park infront of our houses between the hours of 2:00 am to 6:00 am without being ticketed. They allow us to "call" our cars in if we do have to park outside. However, if you call too many times you abuse your parking priviledge and they put you on a reject list.
*Pitman recently expanded the baseball field on Lincoln and Cleveland Ave which took away ample parking for Pitman residents. That field is rarely used for anything.
*The ordinance states that even if we buy these $100 parking permits they can not guarantee parking spots. What do we do then? Where do we park? This ordinance is already creating more problems then we presently have.
*Why are the residents near the Grove being penalized because we do not have ample parking like other areas of Pitman? It is not justifiable that the residents who don't have sufficient parking have to pay $100 a year just to park their car.
Please sign the following petition to help us to oppose this ordinance.
Lacrosse came on the scene at Granada 2 years ago. The high school track team and the CYO track team have been using the field for decades. The high volume of athletes ranging from 6 to 18 years of age, outnumber the lacrosse players 3 fold, however, it is the Lacrosse team that rules the roost and endangers all other athletes.
The lacrosse players are in full protective uniforms, they fling balls into the track and into the athletes that practice track and field. This is not only an injury and lawsuit waiting to happen, but unfair to all those that have been utilizing the field safely for all these years.
17. Lighting the Stadium Field at Darien High School
DHS Lights Information Committe:
The DHS Lights Information Committee is providing the facts about plans currently
under consideration by the Board of Education to place lights on the Stadium Field at Darien High School.
18. Save Soc 69!
Sociology of Sexuality (Soc 69) is, after Fall 2007, no longer being offered at UC Irvine.
Please sign this petition to ensure that this beloved course becomes available for future students!
Also, we will be sending this to the Dean of Students and School of Social Sciences, so please keep your language clean and appropriate. Thanks!
EDIT: Please note in the comments section if you are currently taking the class, have taken it, or are an alum! Provide your UCI email as proof that you are a student!
19. Petition against the eviction of Spennymoor Town FC from the Brewery Field
Spennymoor Town Council retracted the Lease for Spennymoor Town FC and agreed that if a suitable business plan was created by 24th July 2007 they would negotiate terms for a new lease.
A (what was believed to be) suitable business plan was drawn up. However on the night of 25th July 2007 the Brewery Field was issued with an eviction notice effective in 28 days.
20. Support Mansion House Paintball
Mansion House Paintball field is owned by a local farmer whose farm has been in operation since 1939. This farmer has opened a portion of his property to paintball after seeing that there had been a vast amount of "painting" by the local teens. Teens were shooting at peoples homes and other property.
Mansion House Paintball is a small Paintball field located in Delaware. This field is currently under going up dating in order to make it more appealing to players around the United States.
Recently, someone has submitted a complaint that this field should be closed because paintball is a dangerous sport.
As many Delawareans know there is very little for our children/teens to do in the form of recreation. Mansion House Paintball helps keep children out of trouble and gives them something to do.
Since opening the field the vandalism by paint has dropped drastically and is almost non-existent.
21. Fix up Midland's baseball field
Midland Field is played on every day whether it's the midland school lion's or the kid's in each grade at lunch. It needs to be in good shape in order for the players to play with the full enthusiasm sports should be played at.
Also it is played on, on weekends in football and baseball. They should fix the grass and the baseball field. It is a public field. I'm sure their are plenty of people who have wanted a new field but just didn't think of a petition.
The old field is used during soccer season and the soccer players have been mad for a long time. They have complained because this is the only full-sized soccer field in Rochelle Park as well as the only 60-90 ft baseball field. It is the centerpiece of Rochelle Park.
22. Barnet Safe Children and Environment Group
http://www.myspace.com/bscaeg
Here is what is planned:
A new, two lane, street-lit, tarmac road with pavement is planned to be built across Pymmes Brook and the green space running alongside it - right at the entrance to Hadley Woods.
The road is intended to provide access to a new, 1350 place school called JCoSS which is planned for Westbrook Crescent in New Barnet.
After it has cut across the brook, the road is planned to continue up to the proposed site of the JCoSS school across what is currently the playing field of Livingstone Primary School at the very edge of Hadley Woods.
We believe that a faith school such as JCoSS has the potential to add cultural enrichment to our area, and we welcome that. However this must not be at the expense of the safety of our children or the environment in which we all live.
We can stop this road, stop all the traffic it will generate and save our green space, but it is crucially important that we demonstrate strong opposition, and we need your help to do this.

23. Help Eliminate Math Requirement
Clearly all teachers need to be proficient in English. But why math? Why ONLY math? Who besides mathematicians use algebra or geometry in their professions or in their daily lives? Who uses them to such a degree that proficiency in those subjects would be necessary to teach any other subject?
Demonstrating a basic knowledge of math doesn't prove competency in a non-math field. It doesn't indicate a lack of intelligence or teaching competency.
If the goal is truly well-rounded teachers, why aren't teachers required to demonstrate proficiency in literature, music, art, theater arts, psychology, philosophy, history, biology, sociology, geography, physics, film, environmental studies, current events, anthropology, computer programming, or any other field studied in college or taught in public schools?
Why is math privileged?
Many people hate math. Why are potential teachers forced to learn what for them is an irrelevant, boring subject when there are many other subjects that would be of more interest and value to them and to their students? Why not give potential teachers a choice of subjects to be tested on to indicate well-roundedness? Why not ask them to show proficiency in several subjects instead of just one - math?
If well-roundedness is truly the goal, teachers should have to show knowledge proficiency in several subjects, not just English (which obviously we all need) and math (which only a small minority actually NEED). Teachers should be free to choose which subjects they're tested on.
24. Stop BT Removing Radio Broadband from N.Ireland
Update: August 18, 2006
This petition is now closed. BT are attempting to improve my system by changing my method of communication to cabled, the proposals seem good, thanks to all that signed this.
August 4, 2006
In 2003 BT secured a contract to supply Broadband to 100% of homes in Northern Ireland.
Now in 2006 when they have "completed this objective" they are downgrading all customers on Radio Broadband to Satellite broadband which gives a fraction of the benefits and even the chief executive of BT Wholesale Paul Reynolds admits :
"It is not true broadband, but it will give much faster internet access to many people who could otherwise be denied".
BT has spent part of a £10 Million European Grant putting in place Radio transmitters for radio broadband and this service is now to be axed, BT must not be allowed to get away with this.
BT are charging £27 pm for this "service", which in actual terms will only allow users to Browse the internet nothing more, it will not support any of the associated benefits of Broadband internet, no voice or video calling, no email service, no remote access, and for an IT business it is a death sentence.
After building up my IT business for 12 years, I will have to cease trading due to my inability to provide the services which I was able to provide over Radio Broadband.
The Minister for Enterprise Trade and Investment Mr Pearson said :
"By the end of 2005 every household and every business in Northern Ireland, no matter how remote, will have access to broadband at the same price. Local businesses will have the level playing field they need to compete in a global economy. This vitally important contract will deliver the Government's broadband vision of a fully connected Northern Ireland. In turn it will help make Northern Ireland more competitive,
YEA LOOKS THAT WAY DOESN'T IT.
In my opinion BT are reneging on that contract and have a duty to continue supplying Radio Broadband to Northern Ireland, why should we accept an inferior service that no longer enables us to conduct business, hardly the level playing field as projected in Mr Pearsons statement.
Urgent action is required to reverse this BT decision, they are due to cease the service next week.
25. Give us Another Field Trip
May 19, 2006
This petition is for Graham Park Middle schools' Green Dragons to go on another field trip.
The Last Feild Trip we had was on the 20th of December and we think it's time for another one at the END of the year.
26. Award Fremantle 4 points for St Kilda game Apr 30, 2006
Today we saw a debacle of the highest order at Aurora Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania in an AFL game between the Fremantle Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club.
At the completion of the game, the siren was blown with Fremantle leading by 1 point. Due to the siren being very low in volume, the umpire controlling the game claimed he didn't hear it, depsite the Fremantle players raising their arms in triumph upon hearing it, the St Kilda players dropping their heads in defeat, and another field umpire appearing to run in to rectify the error.
Play continued and in the ensuing confusion a St Kilda player scored a point before the game was officially brought to a close, with a draw being the result. Clearly the Fremantle Football Club were robbed of the win and were the true winners of the game.
We demand that the point scored by St Kilda be removed from the records and that the Fremantle Football Club be awarded the game and the 4 premiership points. In the ineterst of fairness and for the sake of preserving the integrity of the game and the AFL competition, this move is essential and must be irrevocable.
The following questions must also be answered for the public and supporters of AFL in Australia:
(i) How long was the final siren sounded for?
(ii) Did the Timekeeper sound the siren a second time?
(iii) When did the field umpire signal the completion of playing time?
(iv) If the field umpire did not hear the 2nd sounding why was the game stopped?
The integrity of this great game must be preserved and the correct club must be rewarded for its win in Tasmania.
27. Abolish Assesment Feedback Boycott at UWE
April 6, 2006
For those of you who are not aware, certain lecturers within UWE are currently on a feedback boycott; meaning they are willing to mark work but they are not willing to provide students with their marks or any appropriate feedback in a formal manner.
For those of you about to graduate this could mean that you do not receive formal classification of your degree. For those of you in your first and second year this could mean that progression onto your next year, any masters application and even module choice options could be hindered.
The action is being carried out because certain union members feel their pay should be higher and they feel the best way to achieve this rise is to carry out the above mentioned action.
I am not against strike action but I am against students being used as pawns in pay dispute claims; if you would like to see this action ended and if you would like to receive feedback and module grades please sign this petition.
28. Removal of Anthony Lee, Steve O'Hara and John Adshead from the New Zealand Knights Management
February 26, 2006
The New Zealand Knights dismal on field performances are not only put down to players, but to people who sit in positions of power.
John Adshead, Anthony Lee and Steve O'Hara have ultimately destroyed the New Zealand Knights as a footballing franchise. Not adherring to promoting the chances for New Zealand players to play in the A-League, yet choosing to pick 14 of the 20 squad members from overseas, which is too much for a New Zealand based club.
Lee and O'Hara should not be at the club as it is obvious they have no experience in running a football club, and they both hail from backgrounds completely irrelevant to help run a successful football club.
Adshead's managerial performance of 1 win, 3 draws and 17 losses in the inaugural A-League season was disasterous to say the least, and I (as a football fan), as well as many others believe it is in the best interests of the club that John Adshead, as well as Anthony Lee and Steve O'Hara should be removed from the New Zealand Knights Football Club in order to send our club forward, rather than continue in a downward spiral destined for failure.
29. School color issue at Richland
Wanting to allow the use of navy blue or gray on sweatshirts, warmups, hats, jackets, sweatpants, etc, etc on the field, court, stage or in the stands before any contests held regardless if it is a sporting event, speech and or debate contest.
In no way does this petition have an effect on changeing the school colors of columbia blue and gold.
30. Australia wants a Cure Tour in 2004/2005
The last time we saw The Cure in Australia was in 2000. Looks like they're touring again and we're not on the list yet. Let's see if we can change that. You can help by filling the petition below.
If we are sucessful The Cure will need to plan which cities they will visit so I have made the "City/Suburb" field compulsory.
Please type in the "City/Suburb" field the Australian major City nearest you that you would like to see them play ie; Sydney......Please don't put in the actual Suburb where you live if it is different.....eg; I'm sure The Cure will not understand that Budgewoi is only 1 hour from Sydney If that's where you're from :-)
Thanks for the help, let's hope we do well.....Don't forget to email the link to all your friends :-)
