61. Students Concerned for the Future of Henderson
CURRENT ISSUES FACING HENDERSON STATE UNIVERSITY
ISSUE ONE - El Dorado Scholarship Matching
Henderson has chosen to match the Murphy Oil "El Dorado Promise" scholarship program, which will award $50 million to graduates of El Dorado High School over the next 10 years. Funds used to match this motion will prevent eligible students from other parts of the state from receiving proper academic scholarships.
This motion will allow a student from El Dorado to receive a full ride scholarship (half from Murphy Oil and half from Henderson) simply by graduating from high school, while a student from any other part of the state must achieve a 27 on the ACT to even qualify for the same amount in academic scholarships.
ISSUE TWO - ACT Discontinuation
In a recent news article, Dr. Dunn has mentioned a possible transition away from using ACT scores as a basis for granting scholarships.
Quote:
“Maybe we should get away from the ACT [American College Testing program] and give academic scholarships to people who have lower ACT scores but who can do college-level work,” Dunn said. “Now, we automatically give money to a high ACT score, and more money as the ACT score goes higher. Oftentimes, that money goes to the people who least need it, upper-class people. We [HSU] are rethinking the whole scholarship program.”
ISSUE THREE - Financial Aid Reform
Henderson will attempt to enact a new method of distributing financial aid to students. Rather than attribute the exact promised amount of Henderson aid, the new system would instead apply all other federal, state, and private aid to the student's account, then apply up to the amount of the scholarship until the bill is paid.
How does this affect you? Henderson will be taking money you qualified for (Pell, Arkansas Academic Challenge, etc.) and use it instead of their own to cover your costs (capped at the cost of tuition and room and board), preventing the disbursement of a refund.
Here is a financial explanation of this policy:
We will use an example of a student who qualifies for $1,000 in Pell and $500 in private scholarships per semester as well as receives a "full ride" scholarship valued at $4,500 from Henderson. Henderson will apply the $1,500 first, reducing the bill to $3,000 and then contribute their "full ride" to the account.
African Americans in the United States for decades have had to succumb to the many prejudices and injustices that discrimination has produced. Countless, brutal, and unimaginable events have occurred in the African American history, that have prevented us from voting, owning land, eating in certain restaurants, living in specific locations, and ultimately robbing us of our God given freedom to live freely as human beings.
However, the unspoken truth is that injustice amongst African Americans is NOT a thing of the past. In today’s society inequality has moved from being blatant to systematic. You can’t quite put your finger on it but you know it is there; it is the unseen plague that can be found in our schools, our communities, our state, and our nation.
WHY is it that the media only portrays women as being ghetto and black men as thugs who can only aspire to be athletes or rappers.
WHY is it that more than 50% of the inmate system is black when African Americans only make up 12 % of the U.S. population?
WHY is that every time a politician makes an ignorant comment about the African American race it is the peoples fault for taking it the wrong way.
WHY is it that the simple commodities like gas and food cost more in deprived multi-ethnic communities but less in affluent neighborhoods?
WHY is it that our schools only offer a page honoring black history and yet our school system teaches our kids 300 + plus pages of so-called American history. When if it were not for African American inventors, educators, philosophers, and revolutionists there would be no American history.
WHY is it that taxpayer’s money is not spent on enhancing underprivileged schools with books and extracurricular activities? Instead the neglected are left without books and after school programs…Young people in disadvantaged neighborhoods have the right to a proper education too!
WHY is it that any race can demand change in the way society views them as a whole as long as it is not the black race?
WHY? Why are we afraid to ask why?
If we choose to ignore these injustices we will never see the justice of a peaceful tomorrow. This is OUR time to Fight for Justice. So, join us in our fight to better the future for the next generation.
63. End discrimination against blood donors in Canada!
To whom it may concern:
I am a young professional male living in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and would like to share a little of my frustration with you. Read on, this is sure to be of interest to you.
A dear relative of mine recently passed away from a rare form of Leukemia. This blood disease has caused a considerable upset to those I love. In fact, it took away one of those I loved. I am writing as I would like to bring awareness to the fact that we all must take action to a cause which is meaningful to us if we are to bring about radical change and positive outcomes for our society.
I have chosen to hone in specifically on a particular event which occurred recently during my effort to help and support those who are fighting for life.
Blood and blood alone is essential for survival and so important for those needing transfusions, platelets, and the like. I am no medical expert, but have first handedly witnessed the need and demand for supply of life’s principle fluid. I am also a universal donor.
I decided to go to Canadian Blood Services to sign up and donate. I wanted to take after my phenomenal father and become a donor for life. Simply put, I was completely appalled to find out that I could not donate because I was gay and “had anal sex with a male anytime after 1977”.
I let it go, and went on with my day, but I have grown frustrated over time, and after letting that particular situation settle in. This is 2007, and there are restrictions like this in place?? You’ve got to be kidding!
While, I admit anal sex between males is “high risk” activity, it is fundamentally immoral to exclude potential donors of this life saving liquid when anal sex occurs between females and males as well. Regardless, a persons sexual activity should not be a factor as to whether an individual is able to donate to the blood bank.
In addition, don’t we have the technology to screen and ensure 100% clean and virus free blood? Or is it simply a matter of us not putting enough effort into this method of screening instead of blatant discrimination?
I’m not going to rant and rave because it is essentially pointless. What is important is that we are aware of this, and that we work to change this transgression.

65. Appalled by Racist behaviour on Big Brother - then support Equal Justice against CH4
We have all been appalled by the racist behaviour on Big Brother on CH4 yet nothing has been done to address the issue. Channel 4 and OFCOM have tried to wash their hands off the problem and hope the furore will die and disappear in time.
Issues of discrimination are not somehting to trivialise or be used to increase viewer numbers. Channel 4 should be thoroughly ashamed of their role in the whole saga and need to be held accountable.
Human Rights Law Firm Equal Justice Solicitors has started proceedings against CH4 and we should all support them. Sign this petiotion to show your support.
66. German Civil Courts: Stop judging people Guilty without a Trial
A decision made by a German Civil Court , that I was guilty of a Complaint, and I was liable to pay damages plus legal costs.
The Court did not recognise the fact that I was not a German speaker.
That my reply was late, because I had little understanding of the German language, and that I did not know what the claim was made for.
I was judged guilty without even a Trial. I am not the ownly Foreign Resident in Germany, who has suffered being "punished" without a Trial.
This ignores Basic human rights, respected in most Countries around the World.
67. MEN’S SELECTION CHARTER for Administrative Employment
Age discrimination has at last been recognised and considered an illegal practice in Britain today and it is time a similar measure was taken against gender preference, the discrimination unrecognised.
While women have fought for the right to go out to work and become equal citizens with equal pay, the emphasis has shifted away from men who can no longer even get accepted into admin roles so long as there are young women applying. Despite being equally qualified, it’s a multiplied task for male applicants to get accepted into positions such as secretarial, PA, human resources or even receptionists and offices across the land are still 80% female.
Young females are the ones selected who go onto promotion breaking through the glass ceiling never thought possible. Where does this leave men, particularly the older ones?
68. Elimination from the selection for the United States Air Force
The reason for my elimination is that I have minor disability due to being blind in one eye. But, no record has been issued stating that I am disabled. However I am physically fit and able to perform the tasks demanded by the Armed Forces during and after basic training.
I am willing to provide the proper documentation from my physicians stating that I am able to execute the necessary duties. this matter infringes on the statutes set forth in anti-discrimination laws.
Discrimination is treatment or consideration based on class or category rather than individual merit; partiality or prejudice. As an American Citizen I am entitled to the same opportunities that all other citizens are entitled. My dream is to be a part of the United States Air Force so that I may take part in a legacy of excellence and contribute to my fellow man.
I hope to be considered for training as an Air Craft Mechanic, Medic, Weather Officer or anything that deals with computers and aircraft navigation systems. I know there are many jobs I am not qualified to do, but I want to perform any job that i can.
I am certainly qualified for any of the aforementioned positions.
I am asking for the opportunity to join the Air Force and make my family proud by protecting this nation. This has been my dream since I was a young child. I want to put my life on the line to protect this country, which has done so much for me.
Please help me fulfill my potential and serve the United States. With Your help, my dream of doing this could happen.
69. Stop discrimination at Panic @ the disco shows!
July 5, 2006
Due to recent happenings at Panic @ the disco shows that are being held in America, we're trying to stop descrimination of music!
I think every band should have their right to play and to be heard! there is no reason to descriminate them for their genre and the way they dress!
GROW UP!!!

Sidhe admin are too harsh. Have a say, dont let discrimination occur.
71. Revoke New Rules for Overseas Doctors in UK
Update: June 6, 2006
The online petition helped our protest movement a lot and attracted lots of attention. More than 5000 people signed the petition and it was submitted to the Department of Health. We are still awaiting the final result of our protest movement.
March 19, 2006
This petition has been started by Overseas Doctors Working in UK to appeal against the new unjust rules imposed on them by the United Kingdom authorities.
This online petition will be submitted to the Secretary of State for Health by April 15th, 2006 and complements the peaceful protest march scheduled to be held by overseas doctors in London as well as the paper petition being collected by various overseas doctors associations.
Ever since the inception of the National Health Service in UK, Overseas Doctors/ International Medical Graduates (IMGS) have contributed to it by their hard work and dedication. They filled a hard felt need for skilled doctors to provide the British public with quality health care. They came here as they were promised quality training and Equal Opportunities in job selection.
Now, the UK government has introduced new regulations effective from July 2006, which has effectively curtailed all training arrangements for overseas doctors in one go. Instead of Permit Free training, they will be required to have work permit for any post they apply.
Also, employers will have the right to preferentially employ UK/EU graduates in favour of non-EU doctors, irrespective of skills or qualification and irrespective of visa status. This effectively ends the Equal Opportunities policy and favours discrimination.
This policy was announced without any consultation or grace period and has left thousands of IMGs high and dry. While some form of manpower planning was definitely required in view of the job crisis facing junior doctors, the precipitate manner in which this has been done is highly objectionable. The implications are far reaching. These include:
·New doctors who have invested time and money to come to UK, believing the promise of Equal Opportunities find that their career is ruined.
·For those already here, they will have to stop their training here halfway and go out of UK or try for non-training posts, with no career progression.
·Those who are finishing their training will find that all their training and qualifications do not matter in job selection and they will never use their hard earned skills at Consultant level.
This petition is addressed to Rt Hon Patricia Hewitt MP, Secretary of State for Health requesting her to give this matter her urgent attention.
We request Ms. Hewitt to make an urgent solution to the immense disruption to career, personal and family life which overseas doctors are facing as a result of these new rules. Many of these doctors have been working hard in the NHS and serving the British public for several years.
This petition appeals to the good sense of the authorities to :
·Repeal these unjust rules.
·Reintroduce the Equal Opportunities Policy in medical job selection and end discrimination based on country of origin.
·Start a process of consultation for finalising a consensus.
72. A.S.A.P. - Allow Shooters Access to Pistol sports
March 18, 2006
This is a petition for the innocent targets, shooters and gun enthusisasts across the UK, who unfairly had their pistols taken away from them after the horrific Dunblane school shooting in 1996.
It was due to a failing of the local police force to indentify that this man was unsuitable to posses a firearm. After the tragedy, it was campaigned for there to be a handgun ban so that it could "never happen again". This was a huge breech of peoples civil liberties.
If you are a safe, respectable citizen who has gone through the appropriate vetting procedures and is a member of an official Home Office approved gun club, and attend regularly (while on this subject I must point out that Thomas Hamilton, the man that commited the atrocity, had been thrown out of his Home Office approved gun club, who had informed the police of this, while no action was taken.), there should be no reason why you should not be allowed to posses a pistol to use at a Home Office shooting range.
Now that London has won the 2012 Olympics, then the law is actually in breech of the Olympic Charter, which states:
Section 4: 'The practice of sport is a human right. Every individual must have the possibilty of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play. The organisation, administration and management of sport must be controlled by independent sports organisations.'
Section 5: 'Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement.
Section 6: 'Belonging to the Olympic Movement requires compliance with the Olympic Charter and recognition by the IOC.
Target shooting is an Olympic Sport. The only way that it is possible to practise is to travel to the Channel Islands. This means that traget shooters are unable to own their own guns, and travelling to the Channel Islands is a great inconvienience and makes it practically impossible for the ordinary british shooter to possibly become part of the Olympics (Which they should be able to, according to the charter).
I urge you to sign this petiton in the hope that fairness and justice shall be restored to the thousands of law abiding, safe, pistol shooters who have been denied their sport.
73. OSU LIBRARY REFORM - Weekend Hours
Nov 17, 2005
On the branch campuses, where many of the students are non-traditional, have jobs, families, and responsibilities other than being full time college students, our Library has let us down.
We, who work, raise families, and have other responsibilities that take up our time throughout the week, and only have the weekends to utilize the Libraries as facilities for study, learning, and as a hub to our educational experience are shut out! The Branch Campus Libraries' hours are all shorter on the weekend than throughout the week.
This is a terrible example of discrimination based on the status of the non-traditional students. It is unfortunate that the University is so intolerant and unresponsive to the needs of students, but as exemplified in Issue I, The Ohio State University is not interested in us, in our educations, or our lives
The Ohio State University is only interested in generating revenue and doing what is easiest for them!
We need to act! Attached is a petition seeking to force The Ohio State University Marion to offer the same hours of operation for the Library on the weekends as throughout the week, thereby ending the discrimination inherent in this policy toward non-traditional students.
I started this petition to help me cope with the tragedy of Human Rights that my son, who has Asberger's Disorder, a speech deficit/Central Auditory Processing Disorder, and severe anxiety...the abuses he suffered while enrolled at a public middle school.
It was not just his human rights that were violated, but yesterday, today and tomorrow abuses occur against children of special needs. This is not just about children though, as what happened to him is just another symptom of what people all over have done and do to each other due to lack of understanding and hatred.
This problem is about ALL of humanity, and of the HATRED for anyone that has differences. It is not just an issue of children but of ALL HUMAN BEINGS that are violated due to their differences.
Racism is not isolated to races and cultures; it is even among people of the same family, group, race, ethnicity, as again it is because of "differences". It is hate between people that must end. In referring Amnesty International, I believe they stand up for good for all people.
Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognized human rights.
AI's vision is of a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.
In pursuit of this vision, AI's mission is to undertake research and action focused on preventing and ending grave abuses of the rights to physical and mental integrity, freedom of conscience and expression, and freedom from discrimination, within the context of its work to promote all human rights.
AI is independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion. It does not support or oppose any government or political system, nor does it support or oppose the views of the victims whose rights it seeks to protect. It is concerned solely with the impartial protection of human rights. Do I think they can help in this endeavor of all Human Rights, you bet! Here is a statement taken right from their site...Is Amnesty International effective?
We have a record of real achievement. We know this because the people we have been trying to help tell us that our pressure has had an effect. Sometimes governments are persuaded to change their laws and practices. Sometimes our solidarity keeps hope alive. Hope is a precious weapon for prisoners battling to survive, relatives trying to obtain justice on behalf of their loved ones or human rights defenders working in dangerous and isolated circumstances.
This petition is a healing process not just for me, but for many I do not even know, and I hope that victims of any abuse, or those who have suffered hate violence, can be helped by this effort of mine. Just my words alone may help I hope, at least to those that read...and feel free to pass the words along, thank you.
PLease sign petition to BOYCOTT Toyota, Scion and Lexus cars and trucks until Toyota Motor Corporation changes its Franchise bylaws to prohibit its dealerships and franchisees from using a discriminatory "Pre-Condition" to employment in their employment applications that strips away the civil rights and ability take their racial discrimination cases, sexual harassment cases and denial of promotion based on race and discrimination to an open public court of law.
Toyota franchises and its dealerships are openly forcing prospective employees to sign a Binding Arbitration agreement that forces the minority victim to go to a racist discriminatory partial dispute resolution process instead of allowing the victim to have his or her day in court. This no different than Indentured slavery.
A minority victim is forced to sign a discriminatory unfair Pre-Condition before he or she is interviewed and employed if he or she wants to feed feed their family and pursue hapiness. This is immoral, racist, unfiar and unjust.
Toyota dealerships, and franchises along with racist lawyers and bigots have developed a scheme that keeps the racial discrimination charges out of the courts and forces the victims to go through a lengthy bias unfair arbitration process where the Arbitrator is paid for by the dealership. Toyota Corporation, its franchises and dealerships are afraid of justice served upon them in an open court of law and they are afraid of big punitive damage awards.
Toyota and its dealerships have designed a scheme that allows for racial discrimination and harasment to thrive and flourish at their businesses and AVOID the courts and judicial system. Racial discrimination is rooted in Americas DNA and there is a reluctance to deal with it. No one in Americ has ever stepped up and said racial discrimination and injustice is unfair and immoral from the white community.
The culture of racism is rooted in our history and thrives by staying out of the courts by denying minorities their civil rights. Even the courts are in on the practice, immoral laws and rules and are insensitive to the pain and suffering of minorities. It is no different than "obstructing" justice.
Toyota Motor Corporations Diversity Policy is FRAUDULENT. IT is superficial and an insult to Blacks and people of color all over the world.
This is the ultimate Kangaroo court where the judge is bought and paid for by the defendant/employer.
Please sign petition to make Toyota change its franchise bylaws and policies that more minority friendly and sensitive to minority rights.
I wrote to the Toyota Head Quarters in Japan and they referred the letter to the USA division where the executives said that Toyota dealerships and franchises can run their business anyway they want, they did not care if it was discriminatory, harmful to minorities and their familes. I ask that everyone stop buying Toyota cars and Products because toyota is a racist company.
All of us adhere to the laws and rules, why can't Toyota Motor Corporation and its dealerships and franchises?
At Toyota racism and bigotry is alive and well kep under secrecy of Arbitrations, where the Arbitrator is bias because he is bought and paid paid for by Toyota Dealerships and Franchises.
Shame on your TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION and its BOARD members and Chairman and EXECUTIVES.
76. Stop Female Infanticide Now!
In many parts of the world, sex ratio is artificially skewed in favor of boy children. Recently, the number of males has increased and the number of females has decreased in China, India, Pakistan, and South Korea.
In many cases, girl children are so devalued that they are abandoned or killed at birth. Female, infanticide-the intentional killing of girl babies-has been widely documented in China and India, and is believed to be common in other Asian countries. Current technology allows women to know the gender of their fetuses before birth, and in many parts of the world, female fetuses are several times more likely to be aborted.
If they are allowed to live, girl children often receive little food and no health care or education-all of which are violations of girls' human rights. Because girls are less often educated than boys, two-thirds of the worlds illiterate adults are women. In many countries girls are more likely to become ill, but less likely to be taken to a doctor than their male counterparts. Discrimination against girl children manifests itself in a variety of more subtle ways as well. In some cultures, for example, although girl children may not be denied an education, they often receive less attention in school and are steered into stereotypical areas of study.
Discrimination against girl children is so deeply ingrained on an international level that it was nearly left out to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The convention was nearly opened for signature in 1990 containing only male pronouns: "she" and "her" had to be added at the last minute. Given this, it is perhaps not surprising that the convention often does not speak to the needs of girl children. For example, it does not address female genital mutilation, son preference, or early marriage-practices that impact girls more than boys.
77. Stop discrimination against Pit Bulls in Ohio!
I believe in Ohio we should be able to save our pit bulls. Recently one got stolen from me but I went to the pound to check the lost dogs which they only hold for 3 days anyways.
I found out that all dogs lost after those 3 days get put up for adoption except pit bulls who end up being killed!!!
I understand they don't want to be liable if something happens after the dog gets adopted. We can create an "As is" clause in adopting animals so people can not come back and sue the pound or kennels. And also it is prejudice that they discriminate against such dogs they consider dangerous when the fact of the matter is any dog can bite, become aggresive, or be dangerous, its all on how they are raised.
I am currently reasearching my options on who to forward this information to in order to get this changed so if anyone has any suggestion let me know please.
78. Discrimination at University of Phoenix
This petition is to voice how Courtney Sharper's black students have felt discriminated against.
79. Asians treated unfairly by Mr. Albert
Mr. Albert made certain contradictions to his "promises" to treat Asians differently or make harsher consequences. In one case, he had excluded Asian witnesses unreasonably to make the Asian victim's case more difficult. After the Asian victim, alone without the witness, was harrassed and mocked in racial discrimination toward Chinese, she was not given a right to speak in the office. The two other students bullying her did not get a consequence because they lied to him, telling a false story and the Asian girl ended up being the one to apologize.
In another case, saying he didn't see someone make a physical offense, the student was left without a consequence. When an Asian student was accused for pushing another student due to racial discrimination, he was suspended without Mr. Albert witnessing the situation. Saying he did not witness the situation before this, there was no consequence for the student making a physical offense.
In the racial discrimination issue, he stated again he did not see the situation, but the Asian student was suspended. After telling his side of the story about racial discrimination treated toward him regarding Asians, Mr. Albert made a phone call to the parents suggesting anger management courses. Respectively, the Asians in these cases did not deserve the harsh treatments given by Mr. Albert.
80. Stop employer age discrimination in the USA
This petition is to forbid any employer, agency, or charitable organization to require or request documentation that would enable it to secure information that would reveal -or lead to or contain information as a means to getting - the age of a potential employee (or applicant of any job) prior to actual offer of employment.
No Human Resources of Federal or State funded institutions would be included under penalty of law.
81. Parenting without discrimination
Many parents are being labelled as unfit parents by social services, just because they have a learning disability. There is no help offered to first time parents, and when we do ask for help, social services over react by forcibly removing the child putting it out to adoption within the year. They don't need the mother's signature to do this, as they can go through the courts instead.
We have a right to be supported without being branded as retards, when we are most certainly not!
82. Review Anti-Discrimination Law to allow criticism of Islamic Institutions
Currently under Anti-Discrimination Law it is virtually impossible to even criticise Islam or Muslims. Muslims in Australia, including fire-brand clerics abuse the tolerance and protection given under Australian law by calling for the very destruction of the democratic institutions that allowed them into the country in the first place. Under the guise of religious tolerance, mosques are being used to train, brainwash and incite hatred against any non-Muslim.
We are at war against terrorism. Yet even "moderate" muslims become strangely silent when innoccent civilians are killed in atrocities committed by Muslims in the name of Islam. Where are Muslim Australians when Sept 11, Bali and Madrid and many other atrocities happened? If they sympathise with the enemy then they ARE the enemy. Mosques should not necessarily be treated as places of worship but as terrorist training camps.
Retirees for Tier 1 is a grassroots group of women, who as teachers, administrators and public servants in the 1950's and 60's, suffered gender discrimination on the job. Known as the "six months' rule," women were fired from their places of public employment when their pregnancies began to show. With the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1963, that type of gender discrimination was illegal and yet thousands of women public servants wrongfully lost their jobs.
When these women returned to work after a break-in-service, they were reassigned to a new pension tier, inflicting huge, unjustifiable, and unfair pension cuts, commonly referred to as the "pregnancy penalty."
After a ten year lobbying effort that began in 1989, the Legislature recognized and began to correct this discriminatory practice by restoring all active teachers and other public employees to their original pension tier.
During the ten years this bill took to pass to correct the injustice and restore these women to their original pension tier, 3000 women suffered discrimination again because they retired prior to the passage of the bill, primarily due to age, disability, or further care-giving responsibilities. They were not included in the bill that reinstated 40,000 active, younger women, and these 3,000 women are now referred to as the "forgotten mommies."
The NYS Legislature has a history of granting benefit recalculations to easily defined groups in order to correct injustices. These women are looking for nothing more.
The cost is modest and affordable even in fiscal hard times. In the Public Employment System, the cost to reinstate this small number of retired employees represents less than one-tenth of one percent increase in annual payout. In the Teachers' Retirement System, the cost represents less than one quarter of one percent increase in annual payout.
We need your support. Please sign this petition and write to the leadership of NYS to urge passage of S3039/A5393 to reinstate the retirees who suffered gender/age discrimination. Our oldest member, a widow, is 82. Some of our members receive as little as $158 pension per month, hardly enough to live on! The need is urgent! Thank you so much for your support.
84. Require all public schools to teach children the truth about United States history
The United States of America was created upon the basis of a eurocentric philosophy dripping with white supremist ideals. From the very beginning, America has been the number one terrorist in the world. It has institutionalized racism as well as supported and encouraged mass genocide of entire nations of peoples.
Contrary to popular belief, the first holocaust did not take place in Germany; rather, the first holocaust took place right here in the contegious United States. Hitler can be quoted as writing that his nazi regime had much to gain from studying how the Americans exterminated whole nations of native american peoples. The nazi concentration camps were based off of American indian reservations and the extermination and mass slaughter of over 100,000,000 native individuals. Our government signed treaties with these nations of peoples and continually turned around and broke nearly every single one of them. Native children were kidnapped and sent to boarding schools where they were forced to live their lives according to the strict Protestant ethic, taught to march and punished if they uttered a word of their native language. The popular justification at that time for the destruction of these children's ties to their native culture/way of life was "kill the savage to save the man." History books teach Americans to think of Indians/Native Americans as savages, when in reality, the Americans were the savages. Scalping is commonly associated as one of the savage behaviors native american's displayed. This is inherently false. Scalping came about when the federal and state governments offered a reward for native american scalps. Americans were the scalpers, not the native americans. In some instances people would get money for a native's head, then turn around and scalp the same head to receive even more money. Only long after Americans had instituted scalping as an acceptable, profitable practice did certain tribes begin to do the same to other tribes they were in conflict with--which, by the way, the government pitted against one another in order to ensure it would continue to have the upper hand in exploiting the natives and stealing their land.
People who live in the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Nevada, Utah and parts of Colorado do not actually live in the United States; this land is in reality Mexican territory which the United States acquired without Mexico's consent after invading Mexico, leading to the war of 1812. Hence, many educated individuals refer to these areas as occupied Mexico, as they are truthfully not part of the United States. Therefore, "illegal immigrants" from Mexico who live in these areas are not illegals at all; rather, AMericans living in these areas are the illegals.
These are just a few of the endless facts regarding our country's history, and we need to stop teaching children false information in our schools. Publishers of history textbooks should be legally forced to provide the truth about our country's long history of savage, brutal, dishonest and racist behavior. In light of current global events, knowledge of the truth abut our country will help us all better understand why the rest of the world does not like or is fearful of our country. Sugar coating the harsh reality of American imperialism in history textbooks perpetuates the continued discrimination and marginalization of only breeds racism, ignorance and stupidity.
85. SMOKERS, TAKE BACK YOUR DIGNITY!
What began as a drive to hold Big Tobacco accountable for its perceived "sins" has become a war on one in four American citizens who choose to smoke. With vilification, ostracization, demonization and oppressive taxes, we have been selected for discrimination based on lies and shoddy science. It must stop.
86. Lower The Drinking Age in USA
The drinking age is something everyone has an opinion on and is something that needs to be brought into the spotlight. The young adults of this country have withstood the age discrimination long enough. Society's views have been directed toward limitation long enough, it is time to educate rather than dictate.

We, Kashmiri and Pakistani workers at Baltic star are experiencing racism and discrimination at the Boat which has been plying the rout between Stockholm and Mariehamn for the last 30 years. We are being super-exploited by the Boat management which has put us on a work scheme that is practically destroying our health irreversably. We are treated differently from Swedish workers at the Boat who have off duty between their schedules and who are also allowed pauses during working hours.
We are on a work scheme designed to make us work seven days a week, thirty days a month for three consecutive months without a pause. During this period, we are subjected to backbreaking menial jobs for 10.6 hours, working 5.3 hours without any pause. This is in violation of Swedish labour laws that stipulate that we are entitled to 15 minutes rest after every two hours of work (see attached press release).
We are appealing for urgent International help and solidarity. We are asking workers around the world, Trade Unions, political parties, anti-racist organisations, student and youth groups, activists, Internationalists and sympathisers to help us put pressure on the Baltic Boat management to follow Swedish and International labour laws and stop destroying our health through an impossible work routine. Our main demands are as follows:
A two week break after every two weeks of work like other Swedish workers.
A 15 minute break after every two hours of work in accordance with Swedish labour laws.
An immediate end to racism and discrimination at the boat by being treated like other Swedish workers doing similar jobs like us.
A Swedish Work Permit once the Boat acquires a Swedish flag.

Ever since the revolution in 1979, the women of Iran have been treated unfairly. Their lives are almost completely ruled by the men who almost always make the decisions for them. Many new laws that were made in the revolution promote discrimination against women. An example of such a law is stated in Article 201; "During stoning, a man is put in a hole up to his waist and a woman up to her chest." The law provides that if a person who is to be stoned manages to escape, he or she will be allowed to go free. Since it is easier for a man to escape, this discrimination is literally a matter of life and death. Help stop such discrimination against women and sign our petition; it is a matter of life and death.
89. Presedential Election Discrimination Awareness
Election Day. For many people this was a chance to voice their opinion, be a part of their country, and decide the future of their country. But for many, election day was a day their voices were not heard, their opinions were not counted, their votes were thrown away. As most of you are aware, there were several thousand votes in dispute, many because people did not understand the voting card. Racial discrimination might be a factor, and also Jeb Bush, George W. Bush's brother, and governor of Florida, might also have had an impact of how the votes were counted. In any event, by signing this petition, you are stating that you are dissatisfied with the election turnout, and you beleive that George W. Bush is the illegitimate winner of the presedential election. Even if we cannot undo the damage already done to our country, we can let the government know how unhappy we are. By taking a more organized approach to this matter, they will listen far better than yelling and screaming with picket signs and strikes.
