2. Allow Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the 2016 Olympics

I and many others believe that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a special competitive sport which is highly under-appreciated in the wider population. We believe it would be a fantastic addition to the Olympic events list and even better as a competitive sport in the first ever Olympics held in Brazil.

While we understand that the ever growing number of sports included, especially from increased pressure from larger sports has meant that there are already a significant number of events that cannot be fully covered. It would almost be inappropriate for one of the national sports of such an influential and prosperous country not to be included in their first ever Olympics.

It is already a highly competitive sport with millions of elite competitors worldwide and already has world championships in which a high level of competition makes for compelling viewing, whether those watching have previous knowledge of the sport or not.

3. US Postage Stamp for Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness

Why it is important to raise public awareness about pulmonary hypertension through a US postage stamp……

Pulmonary Hypertension is a disease classified by a high blood pressure in the lungs. The vessels that supply blood to the lungs constrict, causing pressure to build up on the right side of the heart. Shortness of breath and the gradual enlargement of the heart develop causing right heart failure. PH can be primary (unknown origin) or secondary to other diseases such as scleroderma, sickle cell anemia, and heart disease.

By raising awareness about PH we can help to save lives. PH has become known as a "silent killer". The average patient goes undiagnosed or misdiagnosed on average for 1 year. PH is still considered rare, only affecting about 200,000 US citizens per year. However it is believed many more have PH and do not know it. Depending on the responsiveness to treatment, survival rates in the PH patient vary from 20 years. However, 30% of patients, after diagnosis, do not survive beyond the 4 year mark, even with the most advanced treatments.

Doctors and researchers continue to make great strides in their studies of several new promising treatments that may prolong lives, as well as improve quality of life. A gene has now been identified linking familial ph. Currently new treatments are available that benefit many patients. By supporting ongoing research efforts, we can develop the tools needed to battle, treat and eventually cure PH.

Please sign this petition today to Urge the Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee to vote on the creation of a stamp to raise awareness for PH. Together it is possible that we will find a cure for this devastating disease.

Gerade flimmert die vorletzte (*grrr*) Staffel (8) über den Bildschirm, von den langersehnten DVDs allerdings keine Spur.

5. Deerfield Subdivision Entrance Streetlight

The Deerfield Subdivision entrance at Hickory Ridge Road and Bonnie Valley does not currently have a street light, a lamp post or any type of illumination. This petition's purpose is to gather interest and signatures of the homeowners effected and present our concerns that this absence of light at our entrance is a safety hazard.

This hazard is intensified by the constant speeding along Hickory Ridge Road, our concealed entrance due to hills and valleys adjacent to Bonnie Valley in both directions and the presence of pedistrians, children playing and pet walking.

6. Safe Restaurant Dining in the USA

To make restaurant dining safe for
people who suffer from food-related
allergies.

There could be as many as 10 million Americans that suffer from food related
allergies. An estimated 150 Americans die each year from a food-related reaction (FDA). Help us push for the
now voluntary allergen labeling program
developed by the National Food Processors Association (and implemented by such institutions as McDonald's)
and make it mandatory for all restaurants to list products made with
common allergens either on the main menu, or on a supplementary document.
