1. Tell Marco Rubio To Stop Supporting Amnesty

Whereas, Marco Rubio has disappointed his entire conservative voter base with his troubling push of amnesty for illegal aliens in recent immigration reform legislation.

Whereas, Rubio has misled the public about the bill's costly and explosive contents, as he has not even read the bill and won't agree to share it with the public.

Whereas, Rubio has lost my support by endorsing a "free pass" for illegal immigrants -- a policy that is fiscally, culturally, and lawfully irresponsible. Senator, your encouragement of illegal amnesty is against our values, and is evidence that you mislead constituents to believe you'd vote against the very legislation you're selling today if you were to be elected.

2. Stop Negative Media Ads by Conservative Party in Canada

Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada are using donations and tax revenue to post negative, misleading attack ads. These ads are pervasive in all forms of the media including TV, internet and radio. They even take place outside of election periods.

Rather than promoting a positive agenda, they make fun in a derisive and false way their opponents. This should stop now as Canada and Canadians should and do hold themselves to a higher standard.

December 5, 2012,

The Harper Government passed bill C-45.

2.5 MILLION protected Canadian lakes and rivers, were instantly, reduced to just 82.

Only 62 rivers and 93 lakes are now protected by Federal law.

A law created over 130 years ago, by our first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald.

5. Set Up BC-Alberta Oil FUND for Canadians

Northern Gateway:

Whether or not you're there, this is a project of national scope, such as our railways and trade networks were, and affects all Canadians. SO read on!

We're taking no "OIL premium FUND for Canadians" and letting it dry up or spill out - ON the most pristine fishery, forestry/timber, ground freshwater, ecosystems on Earth.

Can we at least have *Environmental Insurance* premiums paid on every gallon? No company has ever paid its fair share of a clean-up - it's always us taxpayers paying for that instead of fund managers.

This is not 'greenie'. How many would die for freshwater for their families as much as we have, and we risk losing more than 1/10th of that for what, exactly? A few executive's bonuses? 500 jobs for one year and maybe 100 forever? CAN SOMEONE ASK WHAT'S IN THIS FOR CANADIANS?

Can we have a fund pool with a huge premium so we can pay for bottled water, educate and take care of our health, and evacuate all the people? It's OUR LAND, can we have a stake in the profits? Boost our future like Norway did with their oil fund. Like, real cash in our hands and for our teachers and nurses, and not "good for our economy BS"?

I sent a request of environmental insurance funding to all the ministers in BC. I ask that you please sign it. The letter is as follows:

More..._______________________________________

May I offer you a humble suggestion for the Northern Gateway pipeline attempt. Although there is considerable, visceral objection to the project from people in both provinces or even for an alternate route, please consider environmental financial clean-up insurance.

To prevent extreme resistance the proposal is environmental insurance. It is quite possible that if above-exceptional due diligence is perceived ignored some could take to serious resistance against construction.

In a word, the answer is insurance. We've found that with high levels of risk - both economical and environmental, most companies (all oil companies) are not up to the challenge of maintaining their pipelines properly. Be it Shell in Africa, Exxon at sea, Chevron in Alaska, or BP in the gulf. There is no guarantee they can do what they say they will - keep our water and environment good for the future. It is unfortunate that in all these disasters the state budgets have paid more than the company in reclamation.

Can government regulations help? Somewhat. These also showed to be weak sometimes, such as with Alberta's "world-leading regulations" seeing over 1 million barrels of oil spills in this year alone. If that's the best, good luck to the rest of the world I must say. I worked in pipeline construction in our Arctic, and I understand that pipeline regulations and inspections are spotty at best.

Only environmental groups showed agressive lobbying enough to make us think twice about some projects, and in some cases, they take it too far. Co-operation is key, our oil company executives need some process that speaks their language. Enter new insurance companies.

The provincial governments own the majority of lands that may be wasted by oil spills. In most cases, they are in charge of keeping water safe enough to drink, and land value does not waste away as toxic tailings beds or oil pools. Strictly economically. Vacationers, homeowners, and cottage owners don't like oil splashing up on their beaches either. ( This means there's a value to all this pristine land, and people willing to keep it that way. And don't forget the wildlife. The very reason Canada is so prosperous and majestic in the first place. )

Big disasters cost big money to reclaim. The Exxon spill STILL has not been cleaned up, and much of the work was performed free by amateur volunteers. Sometimes faster and nicer than the professionals. But even the volunteers would've appreciated funding for shelter, extra supplies, and maybe travel subsidies.

An insurance company at its most basic exists to compensate for exorbitant losses that happen rarely or not too often. Let's make everyone involved in oil pipelines in charge of paying into an insurance pool for reclamation. Whether you like it or not, the only way to prevent an oil spill 100% is not to pump oil there. So there's always a chance to hedge against.

Companies and native groups will (if agreements go as planned) make huge revenue for long periods of time from this. That's why they're doing it. So ask the profiteers for a monthly fee, in line with the risk of disaster. Since it's just starting, this cooperative insurance pool will need upfront capital - what better way to invest in our risk mitigation? No one has to actually put up a lot of money up front, just legally agree to allocate it in case of. This is how our global oil reserves work, too.

So have companies, governments, native groups, and landowners pay monthly insurance premiums on the pipeline. It can be a tiny share of the revenue but a vital one. And our insurance cooperatives can be trusted. The jobs from such a new industry (insurance and environmental risk assessment will be formidable and these people are already trained).

So a third party with oversight and allotted funding. Who calls whether an oil spill is big enough? It would have to be agreed by two groups, or one group and an independent tester agreed by two groups. Then anyone can say - this is a bad spill, spend this much on it.

The best thing of all, is insurance uses the free market to judge the risk of an oil company pipeline. We don't have to trust inside executive intents to make it to plan, or the government measures to inspect every centimetre properly. An insurance group will ask for higher premiums for a riskier pipeline simply to cover its base.

AAA debt ratings for risk can apply to energy projects as sensitive as this one. And we can keep strong government regulations and inspections as a fundamental pillar.

6. LET RON PAUL SPEAK

We the people of the United States of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave, are here together as one voice.

We stand together as Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, Libertarians, and Freedom Fighters. We come together from all different beliefs, races, and sexes but we all believe in America. We stand together as friends, we stand together as family, and we stand together as a country.

We ask that you not let the voice of the American people die, and that you restore the belief in our people, so that our great nation may inspire the world all over again. We work as firemen, nurses, cab drivers, teachers, cops, cooks, and customer services representatives. We work at schools, restaurants, and hospitals. We work for the city, for the state, and for the country.

It is our understanding that Republican Presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul has achieved a plurality of delegates in a minimum of five states. We are asking as one voice that you make our republican convention fair by giving Dr. Ron Paul a speaking slot at the convention. The world has taken notice of this election.

Let us not become a joke to them, but rather an example of the integrity of our great nation. Let the convention showcase the two great leaders from our republican side, that one may emerge to contest Barack Obama. Let us showcase to the world, on the greatest of stages, what a republic looks like.

7. WJJG is For Smart Shows Only

Not only did 2011 see the sudden death of Joe Gentile, but the removal of intelligent programming and music from weekdays (and even parts of the weekend).

It is totally unfair to get rid of Angry White Male, Job Talk, John DiVita's Morning Show, and other programming that made WJJG an amazing radio station.

Mancow should not be on at all. He is incoherent and his show does not belong on a community radio station like WJJG. Michael Savage should be aired in two hours or removed too, and sent back to WIND.

If you believe that WJJG should continue with original programming and music during weekdays, please sign this petition. This is an outrage and we need to keep whatever we have left of special radio stations like WJJG.

8. ACTON BATHS CLOSURE PETITION

Friends, fellow council tax payers and gym users
Did you know?

The council is planning to close this facility as early as the 4th of December 2011?

BUT:

•They have not published or responded to the results of the latest (July 2011) public consultation

•They have no final approved plans for the much lauded regeneration project

•They have no confirmed funding in place

•They have not applied for planning permission

•They have not found alternative facilities for some of the clubs and user groups (as promised) that have served the community for years!

If they are allowed to close this facility – YOUR FACILITY – without any of these commitments in place, we face the very real prospect of an abandoned and derelict building in the heart of our community and the absence of any pool or gym facilities in Acton for the foreseeable future.

9. We love our NHS in Brighton & Hove

The Tory-led Government are forcing the NHS to make £20 billion cuts. As a result, waiting times are already increasing, including in Brighton & Hove.

While slashing NHS budgets, the Tory-led Government are planning a top-down restructure of the NHS. This is despite promising not to do so before they were elected.

As well as these changes having no mandate, they will bring more bureaucracy, waste and private competition to the NHS.

10. Impeach Bob Blackman, MP

Directors of a company told lies to their workers about the financial state of the organization and abused an invoice factoring service by submitting large numbers of invoices for goods that were never manufactured.

They then took advantage of loopholes in Employment law to withhold wages and cheat employees out of money owed, leaving them poorer, stressed, suffering sleepless nights, and ultimately unemployed.

Harrow East MP, Bob Blackman was asked to take action in this case; but instead procrastinated and failed to have the aforementioned Directors struck off, failed to pass legislation to close the legal loopholes, ignored calls for an inquiry into this scandal, and instead claimed that this issue is "not in the public interest". He now refuses to answer further correspondence about this scandal.

Therefore, we say that this matter is in the public interest, that Bob Blackman has failed to represent the concerns of his constituents, and therefore should resign or be impeached from Public office. More details here.

BACKGROUND
This petition opposes the cutbacks in household doorstep bin collections. These are being imposed in Rossendale by the council, without consultation or regard for the high cost and negative impact on residents.

Residents affected by the cutbacks pay high Council tax and have a basic right to have household waste collected from their properties. People living in rural areas are being unfairly discriminated against. These are valid reasons why cuts in front line services are not merited.

These cutbacks in front line services are likely to be just the first step. There is real concern that the council will go further in the future by having more residents handle and transfer smelly household waste to central collection points.

Thousands of residents from 700 properties in farm, rural, outlying and hard to reach parts of Rossendale who are having their bin collections axed and will have to take their rubbish up to two miles to their nearest collection point, known as a ‘dump site’.

Thousands of additional properties are affected and residents are opposed to the cuts in front line services and imposition of unwanted ‘rubbish dump sites’ nearby to their homes, to be used for dropping waste for storage and collection.

Waste has to be at the rubbish dump site by 7am on the day of the collection, but cannot be dropped off the night before, meaning residents have to get up at dawn to get there. There are widespread concerns that rubbish will unnecessarily blight residents around the collection points.

Rossendale Council claim they will save £75,800 by binning collections at farms and rural locations, however this figure is unsubstantiated and likely to be significantly overstated when the true costs of setting up the dump sites, changes to staffing practices and provision of car boot liners are taken into account.

Those affected by the cuts say they are being ‘short changed’ after handing over thousands in council tax every year. Many of the rural properties pay council tax of more than £2,000 per year but the council is cutting services with no redress for residents.

A council decision to introduce recycling to around 700 properties was initially taken by the previous Conservative council. However the current Labour controlled council is going further with cuts in front line services and seems uninterested in reversing that decision. Residents are supportive of recycling and are awaiting proposals from the council on a recycling scheme.

The council is claiming that consultations are taking place, but from the outset, continuation of front line collection services has never been an option. Many of the affected residents have not been fairly consulted and have raised concerns to councillors. There is a lot of ill feeling about the way this is being handled by the council. The council is attempting to claim that residents are readily accepting these cuts in front line services and impositions of dump sites, but there is little evidence of this and Councillors are coming forward to acknowledge that there has been an unfair lack of proper consultation before any decisions were taken.

Residents are in the process of organising further meetings. Check back here for details.

Please support your neighbours in opposing the cutbacks by signing this petition and inform everyone you know who has an interest.

12. End Lib-Dem cooperation with the Coalition

A coalition is when two or more parties in government work together, either because of similar ideology or to achieve an elective majority, theoretically reaching compromises on important subjects to achieve a roughly even legislative record (issue #1 goes to party A, issue #2 goes to party B in exchange. It's not ideal, but both parties get something they want).

This coalition fails in both of those regards.

The Lib-Dems do not, and should not, have even a remotely similar political ideology to the Conservative Party. Similarly, the Tories have little to nothing in common with the Lib-Dems, and compromises on major issues have been non-existent. Instead, only a series of humiliating concessions have been made, and the Prime Minister has seen fit to lend his weight to sabotaging even these, as has been made clear with the referendum.

This is not a coalition, it is a Tory government masquerading as a coalition, pinning the blame for their actions on the Liberal Democrats whilst slowly eating their electoral base.

It is a state of affairs that cannot continue, and thus the Liberal Democrats must salvage what is left of their reputation and leave this ship of government before they are nailed to the mast. They do not deserve the criticisms aimed at them, and if they are to avoid decimation at the next election they must realise their mistake early, pull out, and assume a campaign of coordinated blocking of the government's supposed-reforms until concessions are made on major points of Lib-Dem policy and tangible results are produced as a result.

16. Stop unfair changes in employment law

The ConDem coalition is beginning to flex its' muscles and are following a Tory ideological aversion (with Lib Dem support) to employee rights. The attitude of the Lib Dems is particularly disappointing.

They are proposing under a Employers Charter to 'raise the bar' for protection against unfair dismissal from one years service to two. This will mean thousands of more workers will be dismissed unfairly and there will be nothing they can do! They are also proposing to force those who will still be able to claim to lodge a deposit of cash into Court to be forfeited in the event they lose their case! In reality this will mean that many workers will not be able to afford such a deposit and will have to give up seeking their rights.

The Government sees these measures as a way of paying back their big-business backers post election.

This is because despite the massive popular opposition the the war, all three main parties support it.

We believe the war should be a central issue in the election campaign. British soldier deaths and expenditure are spiralling upwards just at a time when
all parties are calling for massive cuts in public spending. The projected costs of the war this year are almost the same as the amount the government plan to cut from the NHS.

27. Petition for a Public Inquiry into the Release of the Lockerbie Bomber

I, George Lee, am an ex senior police officer who lost colleagues on the frontline fighting Libya’s state sponsored terrorism in the 1980s and 1990s. I am calling for a public inquiry into the release of the Lockerbie Bomber (Abdul Baset Ali al-Megrahi).

I served with WPC Yvonne Fletcher and was on duty when she was shot dead on 17 April 1984 in St. James’ Square, London during the siege of the Libyan Embassy. I also served with Met officers who were sent to Lockerbie after the bombing to help with body recovery and identification.

Al-Megrahi was convicted of the Lockerbie bombing. That means he should serve his time in prison. If he is innocent, as some have claimed, he should go through the proper appeals process and if successful we must find out who was actually responsible for these murders.

Releasing the Lockerbie Bomber sets an extremely dangerous precedent. The world might well believe that if sufficient pressure is applied, and the price is right, terrorists can walk free from British prisons.

The British government has turned its back on the victims of the Lockerbie bombing. Yvonne Fletcher’s killers, who are thought to have fled to Libya, have never been brought to justice.

Join me by signing my petition to call for a public inquiry to decide whether justice has been served by this government in our name. We need to know the truth, because the moral reputation of the nation is at stake. Britain cannot allow itself to be seen as a nation that will release convicted international terrorists if the price is right. That would only encourage more international terrorism on British soil and undermine the very reason British soldiers are being asked to risk their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan.
