Animal testing is a cruel and barbaric practice that should be banned. Animals do not want to be tortured, locked up, neglected and abused any more than we do, so why should we do it to them?
Myth 1# "Animal testing is vital to save lives".
Animal testing actually kills more people than it saves because of the fact that animals have different bodies and genetic systems from us. Even animals that are very similar to us in terms of DNA, such as pigs and monkeys, are still too different for every result from tests on them to be entirely accurate. For instance, chimpanzees are immune to HIV, Malaria and hepatitis. Aspirin causes birth defects in most lab animals, but it doesn't do this to people. Paracetamol is toxic to cats and grapes and raisins can cause kidney damage in dogs.
In fact, most so-called "medical" experiments that are done on animals are actually done with money in mind, not people. That is one of the main reasons why these misleading experiments are still performed. If a drug is passed as safe due to animal tests, it is then often given to people. If a drug passes as dangerous and unsafe due to animal tests, it is often given to people anyway because even the drug companies often know that animals have different bodies and genetic systems from us. If a person takes it and then gets any really bad side effects, the company cannot be sued because they did do the safety tests.
Myth 2# "Lab animals are always treated kindly and looked after properly".
Although some may well be treated with kindness and cared for properly, many of them are not. In fact, during investigations, animal defenders have filmed horrifying scenes that should disgust us all. Lab animals are often shot at, held against red hot metal plates, have boiling water poured over them, force-fed dangerous chemicals, cut open, gassed, have their brains damaged with severe blows to their heads, starved, locked up and have their skin irritated by various different substances. Lab animals are also sometimes abused outside of the experiments. Laboratory workers have been filmed punching, slapping and shaking animals before.
Myth 3# "Animals do not feel pain, have emotions or help others".
This is probably one of the biggest lies/misunderstandings of the century. Animals definitely DO feel pain, have emotions and help others. Anyone who believes that animals do not feel pain should go and kick a dog and then watch what happens. If animals could not feel pain or fear, how do you think they would survive out in the wild?
Animals definitely do have emotions. When you tell a dog off, they will often cower away because they know that you are angry with them. Anyone who has ever had or even stayed with a cat before will know that cats are definitely more likely to scratch and bite at certain points in time than others. How else can this be explained other than in the fact that they have moods like people do?
Also, time and time again have dogs been known to pine for their owners after they have died. Hachiko carried on going to wait at the train station for his master's return until about ten years after his master had died and Greyfriar's Bobby waited by his master's grave for at least ten years before he himself died, apparently of the same illness that had killed his master.
Dogs have even been known to pine for their people when they have only gone to work or gone out for a little while. Dog behaviourists and experts often call this, separation anxiety, but a lot of it is really just loneliness and boredom. How else do you explain the scenario of a person leaving for a while and returning to get complaints from his or her neighbours about his or her dog's barking and howling and then finding broken items and chewed up furniture all over their home?
Even wild animals have been known to help others of their own species, even if they are not directly related to them. Lionesses have been known to adopt baby antelopes, wild birds will often try to save their mates' lives and even vampire bats have been adopt other members of their own species. Chimpanzees have been known to save ducklings and at least one baby boy has been rescued by a gorilla before.
If these animals really did not care, why do you think they did these sorts of things? Why did they bother to help out here?
Myth 4# "There is no alternative to animal testing."
There are, nowadays, so many alternatives to animal testing that it need not be used any longer. Fake skin and organs, donated cells and body parts, studies of living people and computer models can all now be used, and these can produce results that are far more relevant and useful than those optioned through animal tests.
2. Stop Testing Products on Animals
Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cold, barren cages in laboratories across the country. They languish in pain, ache with loneliness and long to roam free and use their minds.
Instead, all they can do is sit and wait in fear of the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them.

3. Innocent animals have died and so have people...
Chevron may well be cheap and efficient, and they may well be your favourite company, but they have been responsible for one of the biggest causes of death, loss and health problems in the Amazon Rainforest; their own mess!
They have caused so much mess that animals and people, including children, have been forced to drink filthy, toxic water that was once safe. They have poisoned innocent animals that then die slowly and painfully. This also pollutes the people's food sources making them even more at risk.
Children have probably been orphaned and have certainly siblings and family members due to Chevron's mess, which was probably accidental.
!!!NOW CHEVRON HAVE VOWED NEVER TO CLEAN UP THEIR MESS!!!
The mess will exist for longer and even more innocent lives will be lost.
4. Outlaw Outsourcing or Tax Companies that Outsource
Unemployment is an issue that needs to be addressed quickly. With each passing day that this situation continues, thousands of laid-off workers around run out of state and federal benefits. There are simply not enough jobs with the amount of available workers there are and this is a serious problem for many families.
The ‘real’ unemployment rate is 17.5% (.4% more than what it was in December of 1962) which includes both the unemployed and underemployed. The amount of people that want to work but cannot find a job is more than five times the level early this decade and the highest unemployment level since the Great Depression. Even having enough money to take classes to study for a new career is proving difficult for many Americans. Ironically, many jobs are being denied to many graduates because they are overqualified. What will happen to the younger generations? The older generations? How much longer can we wait, Mr. President?
Most of this mess that we are in right now could be avoided if American companies would provide their jobs to American workers and not outsource them.
5. The People Against the Employees Free Choice Act
The Employees Free Choice Act is anything but 'free', and offers no choice. It can be deemed unconstitutional inamsuch that it abolishes the secret ballot in regards to decisions for Unionization.
Unionization will be thrust upon Employees and forced upon Companies, with the Federal Government mandating how our businesses should be run and setting forth indisputable guidelines of compliancy.
This is the antithesis of 'free enterprise', and a bid for power by our Government to seize control over our very existence.
6. Give borrowers a chance to refinance
The government bailed out many business places against the will of the people. We as Americans have been abused by congress as they go against the voices of Americans, congress has caused a great part of this recession and why should we allow these people to take our future and monies from our children especially when the congress has decided to give banks the run and say to create mortgages for the lower income people to have homes , but also have the fed banks write loans like 80/20 loans with no money down yet the loans were either compromised to go either way especially when a family wanted a thirty year fix rate they would get one but the trick was either on the regular primary note or the junior loan which was set at a high rate locked in for 30 years at 13%.
Then told with two mortgages once you were signed into it later you wouldn`t be able to refinance because you have one loan even though you have two mortgages, then they gave you a two year arm at 7.0250% nthen after two years up it went. They used language to make you feel as though you had a good mortgage fix for thirty years, but no where to be found on the primary note. The language was the killer and people trusted the lender and they took millions for the money, and now the bail out money is buying the mortgages back.
7. Mad as hell at financial companies who choose to benefit from the Great Bailout!
Are you mad as hell at financial companies who choose to benefit from the Great Bailout? Are you going to take this anymore?
These financial companies in and outside the U.S. will steal massive wealth from U.S. taxpayers to give to their foreign and U.S. investors, and to their foreign and U.S. management and employees.
Yelling together, we should be able to stop the ill-considered passage of the Great Bailout, and gain the opportunity to quickly implement a better solution.
Note: The "Great Bailout" refers to the Paulson/Bernanke/Bush (Paulnankebush) sponsored bailout proposal (including any tweaks made to it by Congress) that fundamentally transfers massive wealth from U.S. taxpayers to foreign and U.S. investors in, and foreign and U.S. management and employees of, financial companies in and outside the U.S. It does not refer to fundamentally different solutions, such as those discussed on http://AmericaIs.OurCreation.info .
8. All products should explicitly state if they (or their ingredients) have been tested on animals
All consumers have the right to know how their product reaches the shop-shelf, and past surveys have shown that people would be less likely to buy products if they explicitly state that they/their ingredients HAVE been tested on animals.
We are campaigning in order to raise awareness of the extent of animal testing, in order to enable consumers to make more informed decisions with regards to the products they buy.
9. Allow Licensed Material Back on Crunchyroll !
The increasing of video removal has become very painstaking. About 30% of all material registered through crunchyroll has officially been licensed, with another 10% pending for deletion. Users have been complaining in the forums about this issue. Moderators are now idling to delete licensed content because of the possible uproar from fans.
And because no one is able to enjoy as much anime content as before (not to mention that no one can know what the content is like without buying a copy first, which is a bad strategy for these companies as some people want to know what it is their buying before they actually buy it), more and more users are beginning to come to the site less and less.
Not to mention that this is STREAMING video and not available for download, and not even paying for crunchyroll services will get downloads, so piracy is not a concern.
Listen to your local or national radio, BBC or commercial. The likelihood is
that any music you hear will only be those bands which have been signed
to the big commercial labels who indirectly control many of the playlists.
If you ask local radio DJ's why they aren't playing music from the local
bands who are packing out the music venues in your area, the reason
they give is that they have no freedom to choose the music they play.
Big industry buys control of playlists.
Even the BBC marginalise independent
music to late night slots and Radio 6. Local BBC radio doesn't even attempt
to play local music.
This means that the really great bands you want to hear might never get
a break or reach a wider audience.
11. Vote NO on David Couch Immigrant Resolution
Councilmember David Couch introduced a resolution that has 3 prongs:
1. Declare English the official language of Bakersfield.
2. Investigate city services currently being utilized by undocumented immigrants.
3. Declare that Bakersfield will never become a sanctuary city for immigrants.
The Social Justice Task Force is asking concerned residents of Bakersfield to oppose David Couch's resolution. These resolutions would do nothing to effect Federal Immigration Law.
Instead this would increase racial profiling and racial hate crimes in an already divided city. Please sign petition below.
Bakersfield City Council will discuss and possibly vote on these resolutions on Wednesday, September 26th.
12. SAVE WORKERS IN THE CEMENT INDUSTRY
SUPPORT THE STRUGGLE OF CONTRACT WORKERS AGAINST EXPLOITATION
BY HOLCIM IN CHHATTISGARH
Chhattishgarh is a mineral rich state that provides perfect opportunity to produce cement at most competitive prices. Raipur- Bilaspur belt provides the best location where both man and material is available cheaply. Government of Chhattisgarh gave lots of concessions with intentions that it will help in creating employment and contribute to the welfare of the people of the state. This resulted in mushroom growth of the cement industries in the area. Ultratech, Grasim, Century, Ambuja and Lafarge have come up with huge capacities in this belt. HOLCIM a Swiss based multinational has appeared on the scene by acquiring the ACC, AMBUJA etc.
Even though the natural mineral resources are exploited by those companies at a throw away prices, land forcibly acquired from the farmers at the cost of tears, Corporate cement companies are busy playing dirty games by not even respecting the rehabilitation package, as many of those land losers have been shown the exit door.
Very recently, it has come to light that few major companies have formed a cartel, resulting in abnormal hike in cement prices. Ten major cement producing companies are already served notices to that effect by the authorities.
As if this is not enough, the cartel is now busy to systematically exploit labours by squeezing them to exploit in a unified manner, which is a very serious matter.
Even "Cement Wage Board" agreement in force in the Indian cement industry which is the result of negotiations between the All India Cement Manufacturers Association and a group of central trade unions in the cement industry, which has been ratified from time to time, is not honored.
According to this agreement, contract labour is prohibited in the entire production process in the cement industry all over India, and even in the limited areas in which it is permitted - such as the loading and unloading of raw materials, contract labour are to paid at the same wage rate as regular employees.
Holcim, Lafarge, Century, and Ultratech have formed the Chhattisgarh Cement Manufacturers Association (CCMA). This Association has challenged the very jurisdiction of the State Government to make a reference in the first place, vide a writ petition before the Hon’ble Chattishgarh High Court, challenging the notification dated 31/12/60 bringing the cement industry under the purview of the MPIR Act, after more than 45 years! It is shocking to learn that the cartel has even managed to influence the concerned Respondent officer of the Central Government to support their case. If the CCMA succeeds in its conspiracy, it will intensify the attack against the already beleaguered working class of Chhattisgarh.
We appeal to all who feel strongly about this kind of exploitative stranglehold of big corporations - particularly foreign multinationals, to support the effort of the struggling contract workers in the cement industry in Chhattisgarh. Join the campaign against Holcim, Lafarge and Ultratech by exposing their misdeeds against workers, by signing the online petition and also declare your solidarity with Pragatisheel Cement Shramik Sangh C/o Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha Office. Labour Camp, Jamul
Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India
13. Stop ruthless Insurance Law
Insurance agents are given dreams by the insurance companies. More than 95 % lose their agency before the expiry of the 5 years mandatory service as an agent. And there is no renewal commission for these 95%.
There is a simple strategy being adopted by the insurance companies of "Hire and Fire" and get business and make huge profits by not paying the renewal commission.
No one seems to take notice.
Is it justice??
14. Access for all to affordable healthcare
Every citizen of the USA should be entitled to healthcare regardless of weight or income. I have personally tried to get health insurance for over two years, but am unsucessful. Private insurance companies use statistics to gauge your "risk factor".
I am a 24 year old female that is 5'10 and because I don't weigh less than 210 pounds, based on these "statistics" I'm uninsurable. People that weigh just under are forced to pay practically a fourth of their income just to be insured. If Americans can be too fat to insure, then being overweight should be categorized as other pre-existing medical conditions for state insurance.
I believe private insurance companies should have to base the "risk factor" on an actual physical. As for state insurance, I make to much money to qualify. There are millions of people that are stuck in this same gray area as I am. Healthcare should be granted to every citizen.
Insurance should be affordable and attainable for every tax paying citizen. Why not? We pay for those that aren't.
15. Protect Yourself from Household Cleaners
Did you know that most common household cleaners are polluting your indoor air and are bad for your health? Many all-purpose cleaners, oven cleaners, window cleaners, polishes, etc. are created from petroleum distillants, which are hazardous to your health.
Cleaners also contain dyes, perfumes, phosphates and formaldyde agents, which are dangerous to your health and which linger in the air that you are breathing in your homes. Many of these toxins are suspected carcinogens, and many are harmful to aquatic life when poured down the drain.
Companies do exist that create all of their cleaning products from safe and natural materials. Why are we supporting the companies that do not?
16. Ban TV Celebrity Reality Shows!
Do you hate tiresome z list Celebrity TV Shows? Yes, thought you did!. This petition is in support of banning this distasteful trend which has blighted our nation.
I'm a celebrity get me out of here, celebrity come dancing, celebrity scissorhands, celebrity driving school...its all rubbish and it should never be allowed to reach our screens.
BAN IT NOW!!!!
17. Please leave Bangalore Alone
About Bangalore
Bangalore's Rs. 22,000 crore (US$ 47.2 billion) economy makes it a major economic centre in India.[27] Indeed, Bangalore is India's fourth largest[28] and fastest growing market. [29] Bangalore's per capita income of Rs. 2.9 lakh (US$ 6,460) is the highest for any Indian city. [28] As of 2001 Bangalore's share of Rs. 1660 crore (US$ 3.7 billion) in Foreign Direct Investment was the 3rd highest for an Indian city.[30]
In the 1940s industrial visionaries such as Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya played an important role in the development of Bangalore's strong manufacturing and industrial base. Bangalore is headquarters to several public manufacturing heavy industries such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT).
In June 1972 the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was established under the Department of Space and headquartered in the city. Bangalore is called the Silicon Valley of India because of the large number of Information Technology companies located in the city which contribute 38% of India's Rs. 100,000 crore (US$ 22 billion) IT and software export market.[31] Bangalore's IT industry is divided into three main "clusters" — Software Technology Parks of India, Bangalore (STPI); International Technology Park Ltd. (ITPL); and Electronics City. Infosys and Wipro, India's 2nd and 3rd largest software companies, have largest campus in Electronics City. As headquarters to 38% of global SEI-CMM Level 5 Companies, Bangalore's place in the global IT map is prominent.[32]
The growth of Information Technology has presented the city with unique challenges. Ideological clashes between the city's IT moguls, who demand an addressal of the infrastructural problems of the city, and the traditionally bureaucratic state governments, whose electoral base is primarily rural Karnataka's agricultural workers, are aplenty. In July 2004 Wipro CEO Azim Premji threatened to pull his company out of the city, stating, "We do not see the situation (state of Bangalore's infrastructure) improving in the near future".[33]
The Hosur Road, which connects Bangalore to the Electronics City, is a heavily congested road in the city. The road is also part of the National Highway (NH7) and therefore witnesses heavy truck traffic as well.
Biotechnology is a rapidly expanding field in the city. Bangalore accounts for 47% or 127 of the approximately 265 biotechnology companies in India. Biocon, headquartered in Bangalore, is the nation's leading biotechnology company and ranks 16th in the world in revenues. The Bangalore Stock Exchange is the largest in South India.
Chaning the Name
BANGALORE, India, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Kannada speakers in India's Karnataka state have renamed their capital and IT hub Bangalore as Bengalooru to carry the language's common "u" syllable.
The official name change coincides with the golden jubilee of the founding of southern Karnataka as a state.
State Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy said, "Bangalore and several other cities have Kannada names but they have been anglicized in usage. It has also become a topic of debate. On this happy occasion of the golden jubilee, I am glad to announce the change in names," reports the Press Trust of India.
Ten other cities in the state also were renamed, with some of them taking on the "u" ending monikers. Mysore, the state's second-largest city, became Mysooru, Tumkur Tumakuru, Chikamagalur Chikamagalooru, and Mangalore Mangalooru.
18. Label Genetically Engineered Food
May 14, 2006
My 10th grade World Affairs class is engaging in a Global Activism project. My topic is about Genetically Engineered Food.
I chose this topic because I personally wanted to know what is in the food I am eating and I want others to know as well. There is a law in progress called, "The Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act." It is a law making it illegal to not label foods with genetically engineered ingredients.
Many brands that have genetically engineered products are General Mill, Nabisco, and Hunts. I am not telling you to boycott these products but to help me to encourage citizens to be aware of what they are eating and what is in their food. There is a lack of testing of these products and not enough information on their effects. A couple of effects are that they may increase the risk of allergenic reactions or may carry unpredictable toxins.
On a global scale, GE foods are benefiting investing companies and not the consumers. Some researchers believe that it will stop world hunger. This is impossible if the people who are poverty stricken cannot afford it. So why are we still continuing to make the companies richer while others are dying from hunger? 600 million people are undernourished.
All in all, I am asking that you support me by signing my petition for the passing of "The Genetically Engineered Food Right to Know Act."
19. As If on DVD!!
April 7, 2006
For many As If fans, the show reached its ending in yeah 2004. Viewers watching in Latin America and on Sattelite in the UK have seen the last of the gang.
The show has now finished on most channels around the world, but you still may be able to find repeats if you look hard in the schedules.
As If was a ground-breaking British drama, following the exciting lives of six young adults living in London. The popular show has now finished filming after 76 action packed episodes.
Each episode was considered ground breaking and extremely unique. The show created a cult following around the world. The drama's success is partly because of the fantastic soundtrack and modern style of filming; flashbacks, dodgy camerawork and sureal sequences are extremely frequent in all of the individual 30-minute long episodes.
Jamie, Sooz , Nicki, Alex, Sasha and Rob are the six teenagers featured in this hit teen drama. Each episode of As If shows the story from of characters point of view, allowing the viewers to learn their thoughts and personal feelings on the drama unfolding around them.
As If has gained cult following all over the world, and is one of the most popular and highly rated teen drama's ever.
20. Ban emo Music
Umm, no history, i just really hate emo music.
Sign this and i will send it to all record companies to show everyone is united against this style of music.
http://www.kmid.tv/cable_GRANDE.asp
http://www.grandecom.com/pdf/CEOGrandeKMID.pdf
Guys I am starting a petition. I know you get 100 spams a day but this one is started by me, John May in a request for Midland/Odessa Residents to start a petition demanding something be done with Grandecom and KMID. Here is a scoop on the situation:
As of January 1, 2006 Grandecom will not be allowed to carry KMID's (ABC) signal. KMID all of a sudden decided to demand anywhere from 1-3 cents a day for every subscriber of Grandecom for their use of KMID's signal. Remember this is a FREE signal that Grandecom does NOT charge for. Yes you can pay like 10 dollars a month for local stations but the coverage you get with Cable FAR exceeds the signal you get with an Antenna. They are not making money off KMID's services they are making money for offering you a usable signal.
Just because you use a different Cable Company does not mean you should not sign this petition. This is a petition for the right for smaller companies to compete and for local citizens of Ector and Midland County to be able to receive the same benefits that larger counties receive for free. Cox and Cableone have been trying to scare you away from smaller cable companies for years. Why? Because they are inferior? No. Because they don't want to loose profits AND by having competition they are forced to actually spend money on customer service and listen to customer complaints.
This is the same as TXU trying to scare us away from buying electricity from other companies. I've been with a smaller company since the de-regulation and haven't had any of the problems TXU promised and scared us with.
The way I see it Grandecom AND KMID are both to blame for this. KMID and Grandecom both refuse to give up greed to satisfy customers complaints.
Please sign my petition requesting KMID and Grandecom begin renegotiations and that no stoppage in coverage occurs or if it does we will be forced to have a complete boycott of all services KMID and Grandecom currently offer. Remember if you are not a Grande Com customer this still effects you. This will lead to hire rates with whoever you pay for cable. Why? Whoever stays with KMID will not be forced to pay a premium because they will have the "exclusive" right to offer you a useable signal. Please send this to everyone you know in the effected area. Ask them to forward it on to anyone they know. All responses with signatures can go to john@maylink.net. I will comprise an alphabetical list of names and forward it to the appropriate people at both KMID and Grandecom.
Remember this email is asking for your support of our local community. This is a request for KMID and Grandecom to disregard their problems and come together without excuses to offer the Permian Basin customers our local stations at a reasonable rate.
If they refuse or continue to just point fingers we will in return boycott all services provided by both companies.
22. Stop The High Price Of Gas
We ask you to put a stop to the high prices of gas and heating oils. The oil companies are making record profits and this must stop now.
23. Feminism should be taught in schools
We continue to take a stand against companies and members of congress who do not support womens rights. One thing we are not doing enough of is educating our children about women's rights.
Perhaps if the ceo's and members of congess who are not standing up for womens rights were educated about sexual equality at an early age maybe, we wouldn't continue to have to fight for them.
President Bush just made a statement that intelligent design should be taught in schools. His reasoning was (direct quote from msnbc):
"I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought," Bush said. "You're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, the answer is yes."
Bush is right we should learn about many different schools of thought and many different ideas. Therefore feminism should also be taught in schools. Both men and women have a right to know about the many issues women have to fight for.
24. Stop Child Abuse in India and elsewhere
In india for several years there are companies which make fire crackers and lots of other things which are made by the help of the children. The children who make the fire crackers go blind... they get gun powder all over their face or the get skin cancer due to the gun powder and they die.
Either the fire cracker making companies should be closed or the use of fire crackers should get banned. Child abuse gets neglected by the government and this is not only in India but all over the world.
If you open google and type child abuse a column on the side opens in which ther is another form of child abuse in America. Weapons are sold to beat up the children. We should petition against that too. Also we should petition against child molesting. It's time to get children some justice!
25. Re-institution of the Sierra Nevada Framework
The current plan to help the environment, the Forest Plan Amendment, is actually destroying the habitats endangered species depend upon, but is also contributing to the overall greenhouse gas effect through deforestation of parts of the Sierra Nevada Range.
This petition is designed to re-instate the old plan, the Sierra Nevada framework, which not only protected the endangered species that live the Sierra Nevada range, but also served as a bridge between environmentalists and timber companies.
26. Ban Cigarettes in the USA!
Alright I know we have all herd this before but honestly, we need to look at the facts here. Every 8 seconds someone dies of tobacco! And next time it could be you! Or someone in your family!
Almost 50,000 people a year die from second hand smoke alone! Just second hand! Just from being in the same room with someone who smokes.
Tobacco companies are making products that kill their customers! Their product(s) kill 440,000 of there buyers a year and 1,200 a day!
But why should this be surprising? Cigarettes zalready have about 700 chemicals in them alone! 69 of these chemicals are even known to cause cancer! Just to name a few chemicals:benzene, carbon monoxide, arsenic, hydrogen cyanide and polonium 210 (which is a radioactive chemical).
Ever heard of urea? the dictionary defines urea as: A water-soluble compound, CO(NH2)2, that is the major nitrogenous end product of protein metabolism and is the chief nitrogenous component of the urine in mammals and other organisms. Also called carbamide.
Some tobacco companies even add urea to their cigarettes.
"In 1990, 72 million bottles of a popular mineral water were voluntarily recalled because of small traces of benzene. The smoke from one pack of unfiltered cigarettes has as much benzene as 169 bottles of the contaminated water."
I beleive the most shocking quote of all is "How do infants avoid secondhand smoke? "At some point they begin to crawl." -- Tobacco Executive 1996"
Smoking also causes 445 new cases of lung cancer everyday.
Now think about this...We supposedly live in the "Best country of All" but if we're so great..why does out governement allow people to sell things that will kill us?
Please Join the fight for a Smoke Free World.

27. Tax Business Computers to compensate the workers they replace
Feb 14, 2005
Big companies replace hard working people with computers all the time.
I say that companies should pay taxes on their computers based on the amount of people they replace.
If the computers have the jobs let them pay the taxes.
28. Cox Communications Banned KTAL and NBC from our cable network
On January 31st, Cox Communications customers in The Ark-La-Tex will lose access to KTAL and NBC programming at midnight. The retransmission agreement with Cox Communications for all their cable systems in our viewing area will expire (Bossier City, LA; Magnolia, AR; Minden, LA; Mount Pleasant, TX; Wright City, OK; Valiant, OK), and they have been unable to come to terms with our cable company for the continued carriage of KTAL's station.
They are asking Cox Communications to pay them 25 cents out of the extremely expensive cable bill that we pay every month and Cox is unwilling to do so and has decided to no longer carry KTAL.
Cox Communications is one of the most powerful media companies in the United States who not only owns cable System but also Radio Stations, Newspapers and local TV Stations like KTAL. Ironically, their broadcast Television division shares our viewpoint about being compensated for carriage by cable companies.
Cox Communications, like all cable and satellite companies, makes payments to the companies that own and operate programming networks. They pay the owners of the programming channels monthly fees, ranging as high as several dollars per month for the right to carry the programming. Cox Communications has made it very clear they do not want to pay any fees for the rights to carry KTAL.
29. Reform Federal Bankruptcy Laws
When Corporations file bankruptcy workers lose pensions and other benefit plans. Under the current law, employees are last in line to receive compensation from bankrupt companies.
30. Stop Insurance Companies From Putting Profits Ahead Of People
Every year insurance companies routinely deny plan participants from receiving lifesaving treatments, medications, and procedures. We pay our monthly premiums, choose doctors based on plan coverage, meet deductibles, and complete all the paperwork insurance companies require. We do this believing that our insurance will be there in a crisis.
However, too often the one person who makes the decision at the insurance company disregards the medical evidence and denies us treatment. Please help us by coming together to stop insurance companies from putting profits ahead of people.
