91. Reinforce speed limits in Wendover
Anyone who has driven along Aylesbury Road (A413) southwards into Wendover will be aware that many local school children use this main road as a route to school.
With an infant, junior and secondary school on the same campus as well as several pre-schools, there is a considerable amount of children along with their parents/carers who take this route towards Wharf Road.
This road has a 30mph limit which is often exceeded at peak times by some motorists.
We would like to suggest having an automated speed sign showing motorists their speeds as they approach Wendover - ideally situated opposite Haglis Drive (the old location of a speed camera) on the incoming side of the road where a large number of children walk to and from school. The pavement in this area is also a shared cycle path and additionally the point where senior school students embark and disembark from school buses and there is not any type of pedestrian crossing along this stretch of the road.
Such a sign will remind drivers they are in a 30mph speed zone and allow pedestrians to walk safely and without fear of speeding motorists.
92. Wreckless Behavior Hurts - Remove "Skins" from Network
In a fragile yet technologically driven society where severe independence and emotions rule the "nation" of our youth's culture; it becomes clear and evident that unconditional love, responsibility and accountability must be the heartbeat of the adult world.
The influence of media with our youth is increasing by the day luring them into a fallible world where the abnormal becomes normal. Sex, drugs, alcohol, and bullying have become the order of the day. From the National Institute on Media & Family to the A.C. Nielson Company, a global marketing research firm, statistics have repeatedly shown us that our youth are being affected and infected by what they see and hear.
I am petitioning for the removal of "Skins" a premiering TV series on the MTV network. The show glorifies wreckless behavior through the repeated display of teens enjoying sex, drugs, alcohol and other activities. MTV's own summary admits, "Skins is a wild ride through the lives of a group of high school friends stumbling through the mine field of adolescence... and stepping on most of the mines as they go".
TV shows have the right to address social issues but not without proper scales and balances. The compass of life truths through family and community values are necessary to help this generation cautiously navigate through life.
How much farther can media contribute to the self-destruction of our future America?
An accolade from a youth in the success of such a show is not a true sign of success. Must we forget that they can only speak from the level of maturity and perception of the world according to where they are?
They are in need of us; our discipline, our love and identification and we are failing them.
93. AXJ ® PETITION TO HELP CHILDREN AROUND THE WORLD.
ACTION FOR JUSTICE ( AXJ ® ) is the fastest growing civil and political rights organization around the world and our agenda is very simple: Protect Children.

95. Request for a public inquiry into Child and Family Services Authority
Workers within all branches of Child and Family Services Authority in Alberta have been maliciously abusing their powers and misinterpreting their mandates. The Minister responsible for those branches is as guilty as the workers for blatantly closing her eyes on the partial list of the following issues:
usage of threats,
usage of coercion,
intimidation tactics,
fabrication of evidence,
dismissing complaints,
breach of human rights,
breach of constitutional rights,
breach of laws,
inadequate investigations,
not following their own protocols,
various forms of discriminations,
direct harassment,
internal and external collusions,
parading children to adoption candidate prior to Court procedures,
96. Allow driver/crew children in pits
By not allowing children of driver/crews/officials in the pits we are losing the future drivers and crews.
We can understand not allowing public children in the pits. But for a family based sport it's deplorable to have a blanket ban on the future with these kids. If so speedway will a thing of the past.
The sport needs a future.
97. Free the Children of Palestine!
According to Israeli police, 1200 Palestinian children have been arrested, interrogated and imprisoned in the occupied city of Jerusalem alone this year. The youngest of these children was seven-years old.
Children and teen-agers were often dragged out of their beds in the middle of the night, taken in handcuffs for questioning, threatened, humiliated and many were subjected to physical violence while under arrest as part of an ongoing campaign against the children of Palestine. Since the year 2000, more than 8000 have been arrested by Israel, and reports of mistreatment are commonplace.
Further, based on sworn affidavits collected in 2009 from 100 of these children, lawyers working in the occupied West Bank with Defense Children International, a Geneva-based non governmental organization, found that 69% were beaten and kicked, 49% were threatened, 14% were held in solitary confinement, 12% were threatened with sexual assault, including rape, and 32% were forced to sign confessions written in Hebrew, a language they do not understand.
Minors were often asked to give names and incriminate friends and relatives as a condition of their release. Such institutionalized and systematic mistreatment of Palestinian children by the state of Israel is a violation international law and specifically contravenes the Convention on the Rights of the Child to which Israel is supposedly a signatory.
98. Safeguard the future of Newstead Children´s Centre in East Finchley
As a result of the removal of ringfencing for the funding of children´s centres across Barnet, the future of Newstead children´s centre amongst others may be under threat.
Please join with us in expressing your need and appreciation of this Ofsted Outstanding rated centre which supports families with both able-bodied and handicapped children in East Finchley and its surrounding areas.
99. A Petition Against Four More Years of War
We object to the United States proposal for Afghanistan being presented this week to NATO ministers.
It is not a peace plan. It is a plan for four more years of combat by US and NATO forces.
It is not a plan for US or Western troop withdrawals but for further occupation. It is a proposal to gradually lessen Western casualties and lessen Western visibility while transitioning to Western-financed, Western-armed, and Western-advised Afghan army combat in a civil conflict. It is a plan for long-term Western military bases.
It is not a plan to stop al Qaeda or terrorists from attacking Western targets. There are virtually no al Qaeda left in Afghanistan. The most recent terrorist attacks on America have been inspired by our deepening wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan. In seeking to save our military reputation, we all but assure future threats against Western targets. CIA officials even describe Yemen’s al Qaeda cell as more dangerous than al Qaeda in Pakistan. [NYT, Oct. 18, 2010]
It pre-empts the Administration’s own proposal for a full “review” of Afghan policy in December. The timing instead is aimed at shoring up a faltering Western alliance.
The central proposal--to increase the scale of the Afghan army and police in order to prop up a corrupt Kabul regime--will never work without a parallel cease-fire, deep institutional reform, enforceable human rights, and peace-keeping arrangements with leadership by neutral countries.
The current expenditure of over $100 billion American dollars per year for Afghanistan could be spent on medical care for 15 million veterans, or 15 million college scholarships, or 1.8 million new teachers, or 72 million installations of renewable energy for American homes.
100. Support Safe Homes For Abused Children
Our remit is to have 4 Safe Homes available for every child in an abusive family in every town, provided by their local council - so that these children can get out of dangerous and terrifying abuse within one hour of reporting their story.
With dedicated phone lines in every school and nursery, a report by a teacher, childcare assistant, nurse or doctor, or just by a member of the public, will see our doors open immediately (within 1 hour) to help and nurture each and every child back to normality. With 3-4 deaths of babies and young children every single day and so many hospital visits for abuse, our antiquated system needs changing, and Safe Homes Global needs your support, so please sign this petition to change the rules!!!
School zones are very effective, during end of school hours and shorthly thereafter only though. Children walking home, riding bikes, and even the children getting rides home are still unsafe. The speed limit in residential areas with school zones, should not only be reduced, but should be expanded hourly and in distance.
If the speed limit were to be reduced and expanded, the children in the neighborhoods surrounding schools, would be safer and more secure. People would be able to pay attention to their surroundings more and take better precautions to prevent speeding, accidents, even deaths.
102. Stop Male Brutality
So much grief in this world is due to male brutality, in all its manifestations, towards animals, children, women, people & populations, and the environment. Something has to be done!
103. Support the Youth Empowering Initiative
YEI engages communities in discussing effective prevention of and care for HIV/AIDS through home visits, worksite discussions, anti-stigma campaigns, weekly radio programs and sensitization debates at schools, colleges and hospitals.
Programs designed and implemented by our local community members have made it possible for YEI to provide many of the services critical to HIV/AIDS prevention and care for free, including:
* Education materials
* Condoms
* HIV counseling and testing
* Anti-retroviral (ARV) therapy referrals
* Mobile HIV counseling and testing.
104. In support of Redlees Park Adventure Playground
In May 2007 the Labour administration launched 'Aiming High for Disabled Children: Better support for families' to improve service provision across the board for disabled children and their families, and enhance equality and opportunity for them. Members of Parents in Touch have been part of the steering group in Hounslow and have advocated that children with complex and severe disability need access to play within the borough without a referral to social care services.
As a steering group we have allocated £340,800 of the capital spend in 2010/11 be invested in the enclosed space in Redlees Park currently used for the One O'clock Club, increasing the indoor space and making the facilities accessible to older disabled children.
We are asking parents, carers, friends and families to sign our petition in support of this much-needed provision by improving facilities at Redlees Park, and to ask their family, friends and colleagues to also sign in support of our cause.
105. AUTISM EDUCATION - SAVE OUR SCHOOLS
"Who would force major changes in schools where the kids are making major progress? And who would do this without even seeing the schools first-hand?
OUR GOVERNMENT, that's who!
My name is Alison Lynch and I am mother to Sean, a 9 year old boy with autism. For the past number of years Sean has received an ABA education, which has made a huge positive difference to the quality of his life and to mine. ABA stands for Applied Behavioural Analysis, an extensively researched method of education and internationally recognised as the most effective educational intervention for children with autism.
For over a decade now the Irish government has funded 13 'pilot' ABA schools in this country. My hope, and the hope of so many parents and professionals, was that having researched the effectiveness of these schools, the government would see their immense value and would open up others throughout the country.
However with a decision that defies logic, having invested taxpayers’ money in these ABA schools, the Department of Education and Skills is effectively forcing ABA schools out of existence. They are demoting ABA expert staff, diluting ABA principles, and are thereby discounting my son's potential. AND THE DEPARTMENT IS DOING ALL OF THIS WITHOUT SO MUCH AS EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE SCHOOLS!
This move will have a seriously negative impact on the educational provision for children with autism in this country. Where other developed nations are embracing ABA schools our government is abandoning them.

106. Help 3 American boys, live in the U.S with there Haitian parents
The earth shook once, it was 4:53 in the afternoon. It was suppose to be a regular day. I was seating in the front seat lost in my thoughts thinking about what to fix for dinner. When we started to shake the second time, I realized that something was going very wrong. In just 30 seconds, we lost the compass of our lives. We got stuck in traffic for over 4 hours. The house on our left collapsed, but this old lady didn’t have the time to escape. She spent 4 hours begging for help; my 7 year old son spent 4 hours crying and sreaming because My husband and I were among the people helping to get her out. He was scared we would die. I had a choice then: save a life or be selfish and stay by son? (or would that be selfish?) I decided to help, it would kill me if everyone had ignored my mother. I guess either way my decision would have been the wrong one at that time. While I’m preparing this petition, 8 months already past yet, the scream of that lady and the fear of loosing his parents are still vivid in my sons mind. Today, I want to take the right and the fair decision towards my boys.
My decision to start this venture came about when, these kids have been faced by yet another tragedy that no child, anywhere should experience. Now a series of kidnappings targeting kids. They break in peoples house at night, kill, rape, beat and terrorise evryone in the house hold. I know that they are a lot American kids around the world who would have loved to move with there parents to the states. But I am a mother who will not give up on the physical and emotional well being of my kids.
Thus this petition to help us bring our family in a safer environment. I need my boys to enjoy 8 hours of sleep. I want them to go to school with out worrying about how much concrete, about dying. I want them to go to a birthday party and have fun and not ask me what time is it all the time. I want them to laugh, play, relax and be kids. They are Americans; help your own.
If you are parents then you know how I feel please log on to this website and sign this petition:
They are so proud of being Americans, please help your own. Consider it as helping three American boys, not a Haitian mother.
107. Keep our children safe petition - Bloor Street West Roads
On behalf of a number of residences north of Bloor Street West and the surrounding area I wanted to bring to your attention our concerns surrounding the safety of our children in this area as it relates to traffic and roads.
Thank you to all who have supported this campaign.
108. Don't cut B&NES Youth service
B&NES council have announced plans to cut over 40% from the budget of the council's Youth service, just two years after cutting 30%. This will destroy almost all the work the Youth service does in education, training, health and participation and many other areas.
Thousands of Young people will be left with less things to do, inadequate support and no local Youth centre.
109. Bikers against the strikes
The strikes in South Africa are busy destroying our country. Our children have no education, medical care is not available, petrol companies to start a strike on the 28th of August 2010.
110. Put Seat Belts in School Buses
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5OoWQaWeRs - Visit this web address and see what happens when a school bus rolls over on its side with a bus load of children. This is unacceptable.
Our children should be in seat belts on the bus to protect them from getting hurt or killed.
111. Tighter Control or Shutdown of Internet Chatrooms
Internet chat-rooms have risen to prominence in the past decade or so. Initially they were a great thing, and one of the shining examples of the internet bringing people together.
However, as with many applications of the internet, it has been abused in as many capacities as it has been for good. Of course there are still thousands of chat-rooms on the internet today that are useful, and should remain in their current form, but there are some that should be looked at very carefully - specifically, those aimed at children or teenagers.
There have been very public calls for Facebook to include a panic button to allow young people to report suspicious activity, and as a result of this public outcry the feature has been installed. The tragic case of Ashleigh Hall was what was needed for some to wake up to the dangers. However I believe that there is a far greater danger that has gone un-noticed, and that is the chat-rooms that still exist today, which have become a haven for people who may try and prey on young people. In most cases, the sites are not completely to blame – it is often very difficult to identify these people, and when they are, a lot of the sites don’t have the facility to keep them away.
Luckily there have not been any stories like the one that brought Facebook to heel, but the potential is there. Although there was a level of media scrutiny in 2005 when Yahoo’s chat rooms were shut down, the same has not occurred for the many other major chat sites which operate to this day.
There are a few methods by which this problem could be combated or eradicated, and I believe it is up to the Government to enforce these. I believe that any website that allows young people to communicate (whether privately, or in a chat-room environment) should have to pass strict tests on their security, and how they deal with people that shouldn’t be there. If they cannot be 100% sure of the safety of their visitors, then they either improve their service, or they are shut down.
This level of service should either be provided with constant moderator presence, or even, in this day and age, an automatic method of moderating. I believe that this level of computer intelligence is both possible and applicable to this solution, and would help massively in keeping malicious parties out. Although it is a viable option if a website cannot guarantee its security, shutting it down should be the last resort, as getting rid of all instances of these sites would unfairly censor a young person’s internet usage. Young people should still be able to communicate with others online, without worrying about their identity.
Chat-rooms should still be a part of their internet lives, but an urgent review must be carried out to make sure these sites become safe havens for many younger generations to come.
112. Warn in advance prior showing rat and mice images on TV
Lately rodent images are being more and more often showed across all media, including TV, despite that many people find it absolutely inappropriate, offensive and upsetting.
Not to mention that images with rats and mice can cause severe discomfort and anxiety in kids and people, who have phobia for rats and mice. Please help to protect them by signing this petition.
113. Ban Airport Full Body Scanners for Children Under 18 As a Primary Screening Measure
My 12 year old daughter was put through an airport full body scanner without parental or adult consent. This is what has triggered my activism on this issue. There is conclusive evidence from studies done by professors at the University of California that the waves emitted from the full body scanners are concentrated solely in the skin and underlying tissue around the head and neck.
They have said that these scanners should not be used on children as they pose a risk for the development of skin cancer. In addition, these pictures are nude positive images of children not the blurred negatives that you see on the internet. The TSA has finally admitted to storing and transmitting these images. These images can be easily downloaded onto a small USB drive and downloaded onto any computer anywhere presenting the great potential for these images of children to be abused or turned into child pornography.
In 2013 these airport full body scanners will no longer be optional but will become mandatory for every person flying, including children and pregnant women. It is important that we assert our civil rights and oppose the allowance of strip searches on innocent civilians.
114. Keep the children of Ashland, KY safe!
[5:36:02 PM] Donna Forquer: A Hatcher Elementary School second-grader who was struck by a car Thursday morning on Belmont Street while waiting for a school bus has died. Raymond Jones, 7, died Friday afternoon in Cabell Huntington Hospital, said Charles Shumaker, a hospital spokesman. Earlier, the boy’s aunt, Crystal Hofmann, said in a telephone interview from the hospital that the youngster’s condition took a turn for the worse overnight.
Doctors informed the family that Raymond’s brain activity had ceased, and the family made the agonizing decision to discontinue life support, she said. Hofmann also said she was in the process of setting up an account at Home Federal Savings & Loan to receive donations for the family. “They’re going to have a lot of things they’re going to need to take care of,” she said. Anyone wishing to donate to the fund should contact Home Federal, Hofmann said. Hofmann also said Hatcher Principal David Greene and other Ashland school officials had joined the family in their vigil at the hospital. “They’ve been really supportive,” she said. The youngster was struck around 7 a.m. in the 1500 block of Belmont Street, near the entrance to Ashland Cemetery, the Ashland Police Department said.
Raymond was attempting to walk across Belmont and was struck by a northbound vehicle driven by Frank Branham of Ashland. APD Maj. Todd Kelley said the boy was waiting for the bus with some other children on the cemetery side of Belmont, where the bus normally picks up students. For some unknown reason, the boy decided to cross over to the opposite side of the street and was hit as he stepped from the southbound to the northbound lane, he said. Raymond was taken initially to King’s Daughters Medical Center then flown to Cabell Huntington. Raymond died 36 hours later from massive brain trauma. I don't want to see any more parents live the nightmare that I have lived. Raymond was my youngest son. This family has been torn apart, this may have been prevented if there were signs to warn drivers of bus stops
115. The Faces of Our Food Supply
There are approximately 400,000 children and youth working in agriculture in the U.S. The majority of these are foreign-born and without parents, access to health care, and suffer regular food scarcity.
These children and youth lack access to a regular, stable residence to obtain an education.
These children and youth fear the loss of temporary shelter and food, and therefore do not frequently report labor abuses.
We the undersigned hereby petition Damian Green MP and head of the UK Borders Agency to reverse the UKBA decision which needlessly blocks VISAS and charitable holidays for children suffering from the effects of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
117. Save Lewisham's Refugee Supplementary Schools
Following the announcement of the emergency budget, Lewisham Council needs to make £3.295m of ‘in year’ savings from Government Grants in 2010/11 as its contribution to the £1.165bn savings required from Local Government.
These cuts include terminating the funding for supplementary schools in November 2010.
The following Lewisham refugee supplementary schools face cuts in all their funding. Many communities will be affected and individuals with no access to mainstream services will be seriously and disproportionately disadvantaged.
o Afghan Community Supplementary School
o Ardhmeria Supp School
o Association of Tamil Parishioners UK
o Downham Tamil Association
o Indo-china Refugee Group Supp. School
o Lewisham Community Action for Integration
o Lewisham Somali Supplementary School
o Lewisham Vietnamese Women’s Association
o Rainbow Club Supplementary School
o Tamil Academy of Language and Arts
These schools offer support to some of the most vulnerable young people in the borough. They provide additional English, maths, sport, language and cultural activities for children and young people from 4 to 16, as well as liaising with schools and families and enabling parents to understand UK educational systems and other public services.
Without this funding, these schools may not be able to pay the rent for premises or pay sessional teachers to support their children and young people.
If the cuts are agreed some of these schools will face closure and others be forced to drastically reduce their work.
Please sign the petition below to show support for the continuation of these vital services.
118. Raise awareness in the NHS for staff dealing with Angel Parents
As an Angel parent the support I received from the staff within the NHS when I lost my son was very limited. I left the hospital with a handle full of leaflets, my son's hand & foot prints and a card to contact a counsellor. If I so wanted to.But most of all I left the hospital with empty arms.
Information to the other professionals involved in my care was not forwarded on. Which caused me even more upset. When they called to offer their congratulations on the birth of my baby.
This needs to stop and more thought and care needs to go into this area. This could be done by talking to parents that have lost children.
On June 15, 2010, The Dufferin St.Clair Bears Nursery Co-op received a termination of lease letter stating that we must leave our classroom at Regal Road public school. Our last day would be June 30, 2011. We are petitioning to have that decision repealed.
The Dufferin/St.Clair Bears Nursery Co-op is a community based not-for-profit child care program run by parent volunteers that has operated from a classroom at Regal Road PS for over 20 years. It was started by a group of committed, creative and forward-thinking parents who were dedicated to forming a safe, exciting and innovative environment for their children's early education. Since our inception, we have facilitated hundreds of pre-school children in the transition from home to school in addition to providing child care to JK/SK students via pick up, lunch, afternoon and extended programs.
With three registered ECEs on staff, we service over 50 families each year with a robust wait list for vacant spots. The absence of the Bears Nursery Co-op will leave these families with no options for childcare in a city where childcare spaces are very difficult if not impossible to come by and require years of patience to find.
We as a co-op have been planning for the all day JK and SK program which is now being rolled out across the TDSB. However, Regal road public school is not expected to receive this programming until 2013 at the earliest. What are our JK and SK children to do in the mean time? To cut off an essential service to so many families before alternate solutions can be found is short sighted. We are excited to implement another diverse co-op program which we are confident will continue to meet the needs of the students, parents and community. We are eager to tap into Chris Spence’s vision of the “community school” for the TDSB, (National Post article , May 7, 2010, ‘An Idea Whose Time Has Not Come’) and see our co-op as a perfect fit for that vision. We wish to remain a vital part of the Regal Road Public School Community School Environment.
120. IVF Medication on the PBS Scheme
We the undersigned are requesting the Government to place IVF Medication on to the PBS Scheme.
