31. School Safety Patrol - Hinckley Road, Burbage
At present, the site of a long standing school safety patrol on Hinckley Road, Burbage, remains unmanned. This is a result of the retirement of the previous incumbent in the summer.
Shortly after half term, and following the appeals of parents, another safety officer was redeployed to this site as the crossing had become impossible to negotiate safely. This person resigned within weeks as a result of the behaviour of a minority of parents and residents, who refused on occasion to cross with her, and as a result of cars mounting the kerb where she was sited, putting her and children in significant danger.
This road is an extremely dangerous one. Our children have to cross in poor conditions, facing a blind bend on one side and the flow of speeding traffic (including HGVs) through the village.
It is so concerning, with so many at risk, that we cannot allow the crossing to remain unmanned and no other alternatives to be put in place. Burbage Community Speedwatch has clocked drivers doing in excess of 60mph through our village - these drivers would be unable to stop for a child, nor parents and childminders with prams and buggies.
Please help us by signing our petition! Let's make our village safer for all - and prevent the needless injury or loss of life to pedestrians desperately trying to negotiate this road.
32. Senate must pass Family Law Bill 2011 NOW to protect children
Protecting children from violence and abuse must be the paramount consideration, not secondary to the rights of the parent to have contact with the child. Too many children are being cruelly separated from their protective parent – usually the primary carer they have known since birth.
These parents may have raised allegations of abuse and violence against another party. Instead of investigating the allegations from the child protection point of view, the courts (often via single experts and ICL’s advice) label the protective parent ‘delusional’ or worse. The courts remove the child from that parent’s care and place them in an abusive situation with no review or follow-up to check on their welfare.
Children are being removed or forced into coerced shared parenting arrangements which are inflicting permanent emotional, psychological, physical and sometimes sexual damage on them.
33. Help Starving Children in Somalia
I am deeply concerned by this famine. When 20 or 30 people die it makes a big headline, but in this recent famine, over 29,000 innocent children have died in Somalia so far and another two million children still need urgent assistance.
I believe that this tragedy is not receiving enough attention and the situation is being forgotten by people. We can't stop tsunami or earthquakes but we can prevent famine, as it is part of a human tragedy. We knew already three months before it started that this famine was coming. Now we are still required to work to prevent their death even months after the headlines have gone.
These children are like our children. The fact that they were born in another continent, doesn't mean that we shouldn't do anything about them. Adults have some choice in their life but children don't have any choice in this situation. They are the silent victims of hunger and need to be supported and have access to the basic human rights of food, health, and shelter until they get to stage that they can make their own decisions in life. It is sad that we have enough food for everyone on the planet; just the problem is that food is not shared appropriately.
34. Save Bayside Community Childcare
The Bayside City Council has announced it will close its only community-based childcare centres in Hampton and Sandringham.
This decision was made by the Council without consulting with staff, families or the Bayside community.
These not for profit centres have provided an essential service to Bayside families for over 30 years, and their closure will force 160 families to find alternative care. Private centres have already indicated they will not be able to respond to the overwhelming demand for places.
Disabled and at risk children have not been considered. The centres currently provide priority access for these children and a high standard of care not available elsewhere.
35 employees will lose their jobs – many have worked in the centres for 10 years or more.
The Council has not offered any alternative options for families requiring childcare.
Please sign this petition to show your support in our attempts to prevent the closure of these two much loved and needed facilities.

Thank you.
35. Crosswalk Pedestrian Controlled Traffic Lights - Robb Ave and Anderton Road Intersection
Crossing Anderton Road in Comox is dangerous for pedestrians particularly during peak traffic hours. Offending motorists are often seen being issued illegal passing violations during morning and afternoon commutes near and around Robb Ave where it crosses Anderton Road.
This crossing is of particular concern as it is the main route for elementary students commuting to École Robb Road Elementary.
With escalating traffic volumes it is imperative that a safe and effective pedestrian crossing system be employed.
36. Petition to End the War in Afghanistan
As the Afghan and U.S. government are in talks to sign the Strategic Partnership Agreement to extend the war to 2024, the level of violence in Afghanistan continues to increase.
37. End Violence Against Women and Children
Violence against women and children is now recognised as a global issue and and one of the most extensive violations of human rights.
Most cases of abuse towards women and children often take place in their own homes. More awareness and support needs to be given to these women and children who are or have been abused.
Urgent attention is needed in order to end violence against women and children.
Say NO to abuse.
38. Keep our supermarket trolleys clean!
Are you disgusted to see children sitting inside supermarket food trolleys? Often they have dirty shoes, dirty nappies, etc etc and YOU will next put your food into that trolley.
Let's make this illegal.
39. Help the children: expand Centennial Park Playground
A call to expand centennial park playground.
The Cooma Monaro Shire has seen a variety of families and visitors arriving in Cooma over the years creating a variety of needs. Building an extra playground attached to the current one in centennial park as well as improving on the current equipment will help the community greatly in meeting these needs.
Centennial Park is an important part of the community being a central location that all tourist and locals enjoy
Installing new equipment for the disabled community and improving the quality of the existing facilities will allow all children the ability to play and grow as equals
The entire community should be able to enjoy what we have to provide in the park.
This call to expand and improve the existing facilities in the park and for the local businesses and local shire to get involved.
40. Help us Get a Disabled "Friendly" Playground in Cooma
There are so many children in Cooma that go without being able to play with other children and people passing through this small town.
There is always a need to cater for these children, some of whom are disabled. The proof lies with local groups that help with children's therapy. In Cooma that is MEIS.
41. Halt the child traficking, torture, psychological warfare and terrorism of Canadian families
We the undersigned call upon the U.N., UNICEF , Amnesty, HRW, Save the Children to halt halt the child traficking torture psychological warfare and terrorism of Canadian families:
Immediate oversight and accountability of the Ontario (C.A.S.)
In 2010 1 child in direct care of C.A.S. died every 3.5 days.
Ontario governments despite the fact that every other province in Canada allows its ombudsman to oversee child protection says no. Therefore they are a Private Corporation empowered by the Ontario Government to perform child protection services The declared goal to "promote best interests, protection and wellbeing of children.
A Corporation Maintaining 2.5 Billion Tax Dollars in funding per year. It is not a social entity most of its employees have no credentials resulting in no accountability to any Academy of Social Work.
1- 90 children died in Ontario in 2009 under direct care of Ontario Children's Aid societies studies to date unknown.
2- PRC Ontario say 90 child deaths was miraculously low yet It now appears that the 90 child deaths were all in foster care. Spread over 19,000 foster children that is 474 deaths per hundred thousand, making Ontario the deadliest juristiction for which there is credible foster mortality data, seventeen times more hazardous than care by mom and dad.
3- Census Canada states in 2006 Ontario had 3,977,005 living children.
4- Children's Aid Societies had 25,000. children in direct care.
5- Child deaths under direct care of (C.A.S.) 249 times higher PDR says still a small percent?
6- It is reported that ( C.A.S.) denies all physical abuse of children in care and they do not seek medical attention for a child unless police are called or an inquiry is demanded.
7- It is reported that (C.A.S.) does not cooperate with police or other authorities and are reported as falsifying documents.
8- It is reported that (C.A.S.) does not investigate sexual abuse of a foster child if their record states them to be an aggressive child.
9- 44% of foster children in Ontario are on psychotropic drugs.
10- It is reported children are regularly moved from foster home to foster home unnecessarily at an additional cost of 3,600. per child per move for tax benefits to all board workers at the public tax payers expense.
11- New SUV's are purchased and paid for by the public tax payers.
12- It is reported that decisions are often made by unqualified workers or falsely informed outsourced service provider's.
13- It is reported that children under the age of 5 are considered most adoptable and families have little chance of the babies being returned to them.
14- It is reported that families are targeted and psychological warfare is regularly practiced.
The Harvard Crimson reports former foster children are almost twice as likely to suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as U.S. war veterans
No studies have been done in respect to the psychological damage done to the children's families.
The societies receive funding from, and are under the supervision of the Ontario Ministry Of Children And Youth Services.
However, they are regarded as a NON GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION (NGO) which allows the CAS a large degree of" Autonomy from Interference or Direction" And known lack of accountability in the day to day running of CAS by the Ministry.
42. Save Children from Back-Packs and Back Problems
My son, like so many children who attend schools where they're forced to carry heavy Back-packs for the simple reason, the schools do not want the trouble of buffing the floors every summer when school lets out, due to wheel marks.
What's more Important? Where is the justice? What or Who does this ban really hurt in the long run? Try an increase in disability.
43. Speed bumps on Martlet Place
I am writing to express my profound concern for the safety of the children in my neighbourhood. In the last month have since seen 2 children have close encounters with vehilces.
There is a playground at the bottom of Martlet Place on the turn, therefore children are always present in this area. The amount of vehicles that speed through this area are ridiculous.
We currently have "children at play" signs posted in the area which do no justice. I have spoke to residents in the area who have expressed the same concern as myself. Myself and the residents in this area are hoping to be able to get speed bumps put in place on Martlet Place.
I would also like to add that the playground on Martlet is the pick-up and drop-off area for the school buses. I feel it is only a matter of time before a child is seriously injured.
44. Umdoni to pay Grant-in-aid to Abused Women's Shelter
Councils refusal to grant the Ifafa shelter for women and children a grant of R3000, whilst providing an additional R15000 to sponsor 'delegates' to the Royal Reed Dance. This R15000 is required following UGU withdrawing their sponsorship due to their financial difficulties.
45. Save Stratford Children's Library
The children's library at Stratford Library is a vital community resource and an important and necessary investment in the children and young people of our community, where children from babies to teens gather to read, explore, and learn.
Current plans will drastically reduce the size of this space after a six-month closure from 1st October 2011. The community was not consulted in the plans for our library.
The Stratford children's library is heavily used in its current size. In a reduced size it would become over-crowded and would drive children and parents away.
The destruction of our treasured children's library space will be a disinvestment from a whole generation of young people and could have devastating long-term effects. It represents a betrayal of Newham's pledge to invest in our young people and regenerate our community.
46. Less Homework for School Children
Children across Australia, from as young as six years old are bringing home school work.
Some schools are giving students over two hours of homework each week night and more on weekends.
Children and youth are attending school for six hours a day. When you calculate their homework load on top of that they are working the equivalent of an average adult working day, somtimes more. This is stopping many of them from pursuing childhood activities like playing while it is still light outside, social activities, sports and participating in quality family time.
Then there is the addition of performance anxiety when doing assessment and assignment tasks and exam stress throughout high school.
The unrealistic workload for children and high expectations to perform academically for youth is having an emotional and psychologic effect on them and their families.
47. Urgent Change Needed for our Children
Since Australian parents were told there was a very long wait before/if the Family Law Reform actually happens there has already been another child die due to abuse,
http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/8293046/toddlers-death-was-suspicious-police-say
Today we have another news article where a father has stormed into a court office with a bomb strapped to himself and is holding a girl (believed to be his 11 year old daughter) hostage inside the Family Court building.

Australia urgently stopped the live export of cattle to 11 Indonesian abattoirs after footage of animals being mistreated in a slaughterhouse.
http://www.news.com.au/national/government-told-to-end-live-cattle-exports/story-e6frfkw0-1226065999439#ixzz1X8mOG5bv
Why are Australia's cattle given better protection than Australia's children?
I AM A SINGLE MOTHER LIVING IN MUSKEGON MICHIGAN. I FOLLOW ALL THE RULES SET DOWN BY LANSING TO GET FIA FROM THE STATE.
I AM SEARCHING FOR A JOB AND GOING TO WORK FIRST. THE STATE IS NOW TELLING ME THAT ME AND OTHERS LIKE ME CAN NOT GET AID FROM OUR STATE ANY LONGER. WITH THE ECONOMY LIKE IT IS IT IS GOING TO JUST MAKE CRIME RISE AND MORE PEOPLE HOMELESS AND KIDS HUNGRY..

50. Pull The Pin on Beauty Pageants for Children in New Zealand
We believe that child beauty pageants instil harmful messages in children (girls in particular as they make up the majority of participants), including that their looks are their currency.
We feel that child beauty pageants are exploitative and not in the best interests of the child, but the commercial interests of pageant promoters and parents living vicariously through their children.
The NZ & Australian College of Psychiatrists have stated that they support a ban of child beauty pageants - "“Direct participation and competition for a beauty prize where infants and girls are objectified and judged against sexualised ideals can have significant mental health and developmental consequences that impact detrimentally on identity, self esteem, and body perception.” (http://www.ranzcp.org/latest-news/child-beauty-pageants-harmful-to-children-s-mental-health.html)
We would like to see age restrictions applied (16+) so that the decision to compete against their peers in a beauty contest is made with full consent, and when their emotional maturity better enables them to fully comprehend and handle any negative self esteem impacts. We oppose the narrow gender messages child beauty pageants help perpetuate, doing nothing to improve the status of women in general, and encouraging ever younger games of 'compare and despair'. We are also concerned about parents engaging young children in adult cosmetic procedures such as waxing and spray tanning, especially against their will (see Toddlers and Tiaras), and believe that children should be allowed to be children without being primped, preened and judged by an adult defined, narrow beauty ideal - or any beauty 'ideal'!
This Pull the Pin petition and campaign is independent and not associated with any party political or religious interest.
Please add your voice to the call to Pull the Pin on beauty pageants for children. To stay informed, please also go to www.facebook.com/pullthepinNZ
51. Australia Needs Type D Rear-Facing Toddler Car-Seats
Research around the world has proven that sitting in a rear-facing position in the car is five times safer for children under the age of 4 than sitting in a forward-facing position. Young children have heavy heads that are large in proportion to their bodies. The bones in their neck are still soft and under-developed.
If a young child is sitting forward-facing during a frontal collision, their head is thrown violently forward on impact, putting all the force of the crash onto their delicate necks. This puts them at risk of sustaining spinal injuries.
Sitting rear-facing in the car protects young children from spinal injuries in a frontal collision. The back of the car-seat cradles their head, neck and back. The back of the seat takes up the force of the collision, NOT the child’s neck. Their head is cushioned by the back of the seat and not thrown forward.
Australia has the highest standards of crash-testing child-restraints in the world, HOWEVER we have the earliest age of forward-facing our babies in the developed world at just 6 months of age. In the U.S. experts recommend babies remain rear-facing until age 2. In Sweden, children are kept rear-facing until age 4. Seats that can accommodate larger children rear-facing are readily available overseas.
The Australian Road Rules and the Australian Child Restraint Standards both allow for children to remain rear-facing until the age of 4. However, Australian child restraint manufacturers are not making these seats available in Australia because they feel there is no market for them in Australia.
Australian children deserve the same level of protection as their overseas cousins. Our children deserve the best possible protection in a crash. Let’s build upon our high safety standards to keep our kids even safer than ever before.
Join us at Rear-Facing Down Under on Facebook for more information on the important safety benefits of rear-facing.

52. Help starving Somalian people
People children women and men are starving to death in Somalia while we enjoy wasting food in developed countries they are human being they have the right to live with dignity and pride they first of all the right to live. we suck their resources and in exchange we give them nothing but poverty and humiliation. Stop that!!!
If only those rich Arabs who are wasting their money in financing some club without even gaining anything help your brothers first save those people from dying!
53. There needs to be more sports facilities for children
'The Challenge' is an organisation where teenagers join up to form teams and go on a three week challenge which involves personal challenges, team challenges, and a final challenge.
By the end of the three weeks each team has to bid for money to raise awareness and then fund raise for a chosen charity, our charity is 'Coventry Sports Foundation' we hope to raise enough awareness to make a difference and help children get healthy.
54. Increase Transparency in the Family Courts
The Government opened family courts up to greater media scrutiny, in response to criticism that the current set up is overly secretive in April 2009. This was approved by Parliament. Journalists are able to attend family court hearings in county courts and the High Court from 27 April 2009.
"The provisions in the Children, Schools and Families Act have been universally condemned and should be abolished, the Justice Select Committee says. Instead, ministers should redraft proposals to increase transparency in the family courts, putting the views of children centre stage."
The subject of newspaper reporting of cases heard in the high court namely to do with private and public law. The Children Act 2004 para 251. Section 62(1) amends section 97 of the Children Act 1989 to make clear that the publication of material from family proceedings which is intended, or likely, to identify any child as being involved in such proceedings (or the address or school of such a child) is only prohibited in relation to publication of information to the public or any section of the public. In effect, this means that passing on information identifying, or likely to identify, a child (his school or his address) as being involved in court proceedings to an individual.
The Court of Appeal has decided that the prohibition from identifying children which section 97 of the Children Act 1989 provides only applies whilst the proceedings relating to the child in question are in progress. Once the proceedings have concluded, the protection given by the Act comes to an end, the entitlement to anonymity thereafter being dependent upon an exercise in balancing the Convention rights of those involved. http://www.judiciary.gov.uk/media/media-releases/2006/news-release-1806
Although statistics are published about cases that pass through the courts, these in their nature cannot answer claims that abuses of the system are not identified and that there are effectively no quality controls.
I am a mother of one. I have had my trials and tribulations being a parent, just as all parents have. Supporting my child in a positive direction; encouraging little one to do well in school and understand the diversities of others. My child and I are the victims of racial harassment promoted by the family court system and rubber stamped by our country. My family case is to do racial harassment by our country. Everyone has a unique story to tell. This is my own. http://wp.me/pXLdg-iY
My Daughter has one kidney, which was damaged when she was born. Her medical records reveal that it was I who nurtured her to recovery. The Doctor sang my praises. Trauma promotes ill health in later life. Furthermore I had eight miscarriages, before little one was born. I was beaten up by the police so they could take her and the one social worker who was in attendance stood there and watched, as my daughter looked on from the middle of the room as we fought rolling around on my settee. There were a number of police officers present.
UK FAMILY COURT JUDGES VIOLATE AND DENY HUMAN RIGHTS OF CHILDREN - There is a clear need to increase transparency in the family courts, putting the views of children centre stage. Once a child is proven to be 'Gillick' competent the child must be allowed to attend Court to give their views to a Judge. Guardians ad litem should not in any circumstance give evidence on behalf of a child that will decide the fate of the child. The Court have a duty to prevent hearsay evidence. It is imperative that Parliament quash the power of Guardians ad litem decision to admit the hearsay of a child as evidence in Private and Public family law matters. The more serious the allegation, the greater the importance of ensuring that the accused parent(s) is afforded fair and proper procedural safeguards in civil and criminal matters. There is no public interest in a wrong result. This must include 'Private and Public' Law cases.
That it is fair to admit the hearsay evidence of a child and a Judge's decision to admit it is irrational and constituted a breach of the claimant's Article 6(1) right to a fair hearing and cannot stand.
Qualitative methods produce information only on the particular cases studied, and any more general conclusions are only hypotheses. Quantitative methods can be used to verify, which of such hypotheses are true. This is what this petition is about.

55. Stop AFL's promotion of betting
The relentless and excessive promotion of live odds/betting on the scoreboards screens at both the MCG and Etihad stadium needs to be stopped.
Exposure to gambling advertisements from a young age can normalise gambling for children. A number of studies, including one by Adelaide University’s Associate Professor Paul Delfabbro, show that this exposure can lead to a greater risk of children developing gambling problems as they grow older.
The AFL have publically stated that they are concerned about this issue but have done nothing as they are not responsible for this promotion. Both venues - the MCC and Etihad state that it is the AFL that is responsible. The Federal Government in the Senate is currently holding an enquiry called the Joint Select Committee on Gambling reform.
This reform is moving too slowly. Community action is needed. I urge you to support this issue by signing up.
56. Shelter the Street Dogs of Sophia, Bulgaria
Sophia means "wisdom". I was born here and I live here. I love my city.
Over 25 years there has been a problem with street dogs.
A shelter or two existed for a while indeed but, a film made in secret by some Britons showed the world how they used to kill dogs in one of these "shelters". This is not a decision!
There are many cases when street dogs attack people and even children. Not to mention dogs as s source of infection.
I don't know who benefits of keeping this situation as it is.
I hope a letter from foreigners to the Minister of Environment and Waters and to the Mayor of the city could make a difference.
Can you, please, help us to improve our life here.
Thank you!
57. Support for Bellbowrie Pool Manager to open a community centre in 2012
Support for Bellbowrie Pool Manager to open a community centre with in early 2012 or create a "youth club" on the site by rebuilding the old residence or build a brand new one.
58. Cinema & Bowling Alley Complex in Trowbridge Wilthire
There has been a promise of amenities for young people in Trowbridge Wiltshire for many years. Many promises have been disappointed.
There are stark few resources for young people, but The County Town of Wiltshire has failed its young people for many years. Even now, in these challenging financial times failing young people is a big mistake.
59. Support Second Parent Adoption
Under current adoption law in Michigan, only married couples or single individuals are permitted to adopt. This policy makes obtaining a joint legal partnership nearly impossible for two unmarried individuals wishing to adopt a child together.
With thousands of children waiting to be adopted from the foster care system each year, the State of Michigan cannot afford to exclude any population from its adoption discussions; however, it continues to do so by prohibiting non-married individuals from legally co-parenting and permitting only one parent in a same sex couple to legally adopt a child.
If passed, the Second Parent Adoption Bill, Michigan House Bill 4249,would allow two unmarried persons to petition to adopt a child.
All children in Michigan deserve the stability of a permanent home and the security of a legal relationship with two parents.
60. Support Traditional Marriage
Noting the following:
- that marriage is currently defined in the Marriage Act (1961) as being ‘... the union of a man and a woman to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life,’ each element of which is essential to the integrity of marriage;
- that marriage is one of the great institutions on which our society is built;
- that marriage provides for a stable family life;
- that marriage is the structure under which children are nurtured and grow the best; and
- that marriage is worthy of protection and support.
