542. Parents Supporting Our Innovative WES Teachers
Three teachers from WES have expressed their desire to request a transfer. These innovative, talented, and energetic teachers are Jennifer Carhart, Janice Martin and Stacey Robichaud. Two of these teachers have had to take on a challenging year of a 3/4 French Immersion MAC class. Even though the MAC class has been proven this year to be very successful, these teachers have felt very little support and appreciation for their hard work and innovation.
In addition to wonderful in class teaching, these teachers are also the foundation for many of the great extra curricular programs at WES including noon hour activities, 100 day celebrations, French week, math club, math days and many others. Most parents can attest to the fact that these are three wonderful, fun and effective teachers - teachers that all kids love and look up to.. Unfortunately, after having to deal all year with repetitive complaints from an select few and sensing a general lack of support for their innovative methods, these teachers feel alone in their cause and unappreciated.
These teachers are the foundation for many of the great programs at WES including noon hour activities, 100 day celebrations, french week, math club, math days and many others. Many parents can attest to the fact that these are three great teachers - teachers that their kids love and look up to. Let's make sure they know how much we truly appreciate them. 544. STOP CHILDREN OF WAR
I may only be 13, but that does not make my opinion and disgust any more drowned out. A few months ago, my peers and I at school had Citizenship day. This is where we learn about the world and what is being done. The theme was children of war, and only after watching an introduction, I was in tears. It isnt right and must be stopped. The world fights war that children get caught up in. we are only young and dont deserve this. So much pain and suffering occurs in the world. Kids as young as 5 are snatched from their homes, forced to take drugs and taught how to use a gun, so thats rebels may prove a point. I admit i live a great life with all the things a child would need. I just think of myself as lucky, that I dont have to kill my own family, friends and neighbours, have my arms cut off for expressing my opinion, and having to flee my country, to come to a whole new world, where i do not understand anyone, and where all I want is to go home. However, in so many cases, it is not possible. They are only children. Many people who might be reading this might have children of their own and if you do, I beg you, can you imagine your child, whatever age, being kidnapped from you, nenver seen again, forced drugs, and told to shoot everyone. And that is just the males. Females are forced to marry the soldiers. They are sexually assaulted and raped and all they can do is go along with it in fear of their lives and thta of their siblings and family. Thank you and please think about the issues faced here
Domestic Violence is taking the Freedom from Women, Children, Men, and Entire Families, Mother's, Father", Siblings etc.
I propose that we pass a Law instituting a Criminal Backround check on both the Male and the Female to find out if they have ever been convicted of a Domestic Violence or Child Molestation.
If either party has, they must tell the other before they get Married.
It is very costly to Rehabilitate a Family once the Violence is Reported to the Authorites.
The Couple to be Married would pay the cost.
Those Monies should and could help with Education, Job Training, the Deficit, and many other things needless to say it could be Saving Lives.
I am a Survivor, and if you have never ever been a Victim, never become one, and If you have ever had to struggle to be a Survior, help me to win this fight.

546. Protect Karim Khadr, an Al Qaeda child victim
The people of Canada are incensed by the return of the Khadr family, a self-described "al Qaeda family".
A son of 14 years is included in this family. When he was still an infant he was placed in an al Qaeda // Taliban camp for his education. Did he deserve this? Or did he, does he now, deserve our protection from abusive parenting?
547. "No" to Mississippi Education Budget Cut
Mississippi is voting to cut the education budget by $16 million. As we are number number one in illiteracy, highschool drop-outs and teen pregnancy in the country, how can the government consider trying to cut education?
The State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Henry Johnson states "In order to move Mississippi forward, education must be our first priortity. Today's children are the workforce and leaders of tomorrow."
548. Rights of Relative Caregivers in Florida
Relative Caregivers in the State of FLorida make up 27% of the homes abused and neglected children are placed in by DCF. Yet, these caregivers who give their time, love, affection, and hearts to these children have no rights in Florida for visitation once the child is returned home to their parents, continuation of the bond that is formed with the child, and often access to benefits. We are fighting for the rights of our children we raise to continue being a part of the families that nurture them and for protection under the law for the same rights and priviledges afforded licensed Foster Parents. We save this country millions of tax dollars each year by solely supporting our children, and yet have no rights once the court system hands them over to either the offending parents, or decides to adopt them to someone other than family. OFten we are forced by the system to report offenses against the child, and in turn when the child is returned home, the parents refuse contact because of the fear of being reported. We are asking for protection under the law for our children's safety, mental well-being, and emotional needs to be with thier serrogate parents. Foster families are given financial services right away, while the wait for Relative Caregiver Status drags on sometimes as long as two years while these families struggle to maintain a home for their children. Relative caregivers are often forced to give up jobs to care for the kids they love, have extensive legal fees in thier fight to keep the children, and make many other sacrifices day to day. We need your help, our children need your help! Thank you!
549. Re-Hire Mrs. Rahila for the Y.M.C.A.
Re-hire Mrs. Rahila for Durham Elementary School Y.M.C.A. program. She was fired and falsely accused of transporting children in her vehicle. Also, accused of spending time with some of the children's parents after hours. Re-Hire Mrs. Rahila for the Y.M.C.A.
550. Road Closure at Westwood Dr & Margin Dr W
As the William Floyd Parkway has seen more and more conjestion and traffic, drivers have decided to take alternate routes to by-pass traffic lights. It has become an increasing problem with development in the surrounding area. For example; the new Head Start opening, the opening of Home Depot, and extra traffic lights have added to the already serious problem. Numorous accidents have happened in our residential neighborhood just off of William Floyd Parkway.
Our main fear is that our children are at risk of being the fatality that will bring attention to this issue of speeding vehicles on residential streets. So before that happens a solution must be found.
This petition is to get the wonderful Fab 5 to agree to host my charity event, Operation Healthy Kids, for Children's Hospital of Milwaukee. With the Queer Eye name attached, we will undoubtedly be able to raise thousands of dollars for those children
552. Child Abuse Prevention in Ireland
Child abuse in Ireland is growing. This is simply because of the failures of our justice system and our legislators to impliment harsh laws in order to bring these atrocities against children under control.

554. Police Checks and Bans on Paedophiles Applying for Access to Freightforwarding Industry
Paedophiles are known to be able to access two significant and extensive points of communication that cross local and international boundaries. That is, Freight Forwarding and Ham Radio. These two points of communication provide paedophiles with largely uncontrolled open slather to individuals including information of families business personnel credit card details private home data [dates of birth home addresses and telephone numbers family members number of children where schooled private interests et al] as well as Shipping and Trucking data including access to Customs and Government.
Not realising the dangers of a paedophile in the Freightforwarding business it is open slather for the paedophile as is access to and use of Ham Radio that reaches innocent people with children throughout the world as well as locally in Australia.
I call for Police checks and Bans on paedophiles in these areas vital to human existence, movement and well-being.
555. Protect Society--Teach gender roles at school!
Society today is weakened by the lack of gender roles. We must start teaching our children these roles. We must show girls that a woman's main role is keeper at home--a homemaker, and the man is the breadwinner.
I am calling for three things:
1. Universal Home Economics class--as a required course for high school and middle school for girls.
2. More strict dress codes at school--Thighs must be covered, and girls must wear skirts or dresses.
3. Gender-segregated physical education classes--to preserve the modesty of our children.
These things need to happen. We must create a strong future for America. We must reinstate these gender roles to make sure America does not continue to fail.
556. Checking for head lice in Pasco County Public schools
We the parents of children in the Pasco county school system are asking that every child be checked for head lice.
557. Mississaugas of New Credit First Nation Residency Code
The Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation Band Council & the Director of Reseach & Membership have been trying to impliment a Residency By-Law since 1985. The Misisaugas of the New Credit band members have been told that there was a number of surveys and community meetings on this issue and have only been given percentages on any of the surveys and no numbers. The band members are not sure if it is 10,20,30 or what number of the people that make up the percentages that are influencing the changes and decisions for over 1500 band membes. On July 7, 2003 a Residency By-Law was given final approval by a quorum of Chief and Council and forwarded to Indian and Northern Affairs Canada without the majority of th band members approval. According to the Interpetation Section 2.0 of the Residency By-Law "Non-Members" means "a person who is not a band member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation" residing within the New Credit Reserve 40A. This definition includes all First Nation people wh are not a band member of th Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation and any non-native spouse of a Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation band member.
Some Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation band members thought that as long as they were married to another native whether they were a band member of the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation or from another reserve, that the their spouse would be allowed to live within the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation Territory since the Indian Act states that Reserve Land" is for natives."
Now with the Residency By-Law having final approval, any Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation band member sho marries a person other then another Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation band member, the spouse who is not a Mississaugas of the New Credit Band member has one year to leave the reserve after the death of the Mississaugas of the New Credit spouse if there are no dependent children of the deceased living in the home with the non-band member.
If this Residency By-Law remains in effect it will cause unjust heartache for all families this pertains to and a great number of th Mississaugas of the First Nation band members.
558. Lights at the Joyce avenue
This is a danourous intersectin outside our childrens Child Care Centre.
People do dangerous U-turns from the far side into the Service station with no thought to giving way to the cars leaving Joyce Avenue.
There is an ever increasing number of acidents outside where our children are being cared for and we don't want another incident like at the Roundhouse Childcare Centre in Janurary

559. Healthy Colorado School Lunches NOW!

At least 1 child in 4 in the U.S. today is seriously overweight, and that number keeps growing.
Over the last 20 years, the number of overweight children has increased by more than 50% and the number of extremely overweight children has nearly doubled.
40 million American children have abnormally high cholesterol levels. By the age of 12, an estimated 70% of U.S. children have developed the beginning stages of hardening of the arteries.
Due to inclement weather the amount of school days in our present year has been greatly delined.The only people who suffer is the children for their lack of education.This petition will be put forward to extend the school year.
561. Save Our Children
This Petition is regarding the health & welfare of two children who were illegally taken from their parents and moved from Illinois to California by two diagnosed mentally ill child abusers. The parents have been unable to get government authorities to investigate and act in accordance with state and federal laws.
562. Reintroduce the Cane to schools in the UK
The end of the cane saw an end to good behaviour in schools. The reason is children think they can do what they want and no one can do anything about it, & they're right! This leads poor attitudes in later life where we expect people to do as they are told or face the justice system. Failing to discipline children in schools results in higher crime and unemployment rates, which cost the taxpayer. Discipline is vital to earn the respect of those around you and the respect of yourself.
It is true to say other forms of punishment exist. You can ban a child from trips or put him in detention but these punish the teachers too & have little proven effect. Just the threat of the cane is enough for some children & for others the effects of the cane would stop the behaviour. We need to show children that something CAN be done to stop their delinquency.
I'm not some old-fashioned retired teacher moaning of how it was better in my day... I am 17 & I see what really happens in schools.
563. Help E escape bad adoption law in Florida
New law comes too late for adoptive family.
JACKSONVILLE, FL -- At the end of the month, a new law goes into effect that gives biological fathers 30 days to file for paternal rights over their children. The new law is a welcome change for those seeking to adopt children but comes too late for one Jacksonville family.
For the Scott family, they say the law is two years too late for them. Two- year-old "E", has lived with the Dawn and Gene Scott since he was born. Five months after his birth, "E"’s biological father became involved. His biological father lives in another state and has visitation rights with his son. Now, he says he wants custody. "E's" biological father lives in Maine, and his biological mother lives in Illinois.
His adoptive parents live in Jacksonville. The 2-year-old is caught in the middle of a custody battle. His adoptive parents say if the new law was in effect two years ago, then there would be no conflict.
"[Adopting "E"] has been the most amazing experience to happen for us,"said Dawn Scott, adoptive mother. "He's changed our lives." 2-year-old "E" Scott has a mound of curls and a ton of energy. His adoptive parents, Dawn and Gene Scott, can't imagine life without him. "You dream about him...think about him...can't wait to come home to him, "said Gene Scott, foster father.
Now, "E" is caught in the middle of a custody battle. Five months after he was born, his biological father filed for punitive consent -- giving him the right to fight for custody. Under the new law, a biological father must register consent within 30 days after a child is born. However, the new law has come too late to affect this situation.
"We're just devastated and concerned about where he's going to go," said Dawn Scott. "What's going to happen to him?"
564. Lowering Neighborhood Speed Limit in Portland, TX
This petition is asking for the current speed limit of 30mph to be lowered to 15mph due to child safety.
This petition is written for the purpose of lowering the current speed limit of 30mph to the purposed limit of 15mph. Many families in our subdivision have children that enjoy spending time playing outside. During the timesthey enjoy playing is the busiest time of day for traffic. Several times there are drivers, who do the speed limit, but put our children at risk. It is proven that larger vehicles take a longer amount of time to come to a complete stop at certain speeds. Today many more people are driving the bigger vehicles. The roads are also very narrow. On many occasions there have been vehicles parked on either side of the road. This allows only one car to pass at a time. The speed limit does not allow safe passage of vehicles during this time. If by some chance a small child is playing ball and the ball happens to roll into the road the vehicles dont realize in an adequate amount of time.
565. Washington State "Keep Kids Safe" License Plate
The Children's Trust Fund of Washington was established by the Legislature as a separate fund within the state treasury to receive public and private donations to support the work of programs whose mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect. These funds are administered by the Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.
This proposal asks that the Washington State Dept. of Licensing issue these special interest plates and that all net proceeds be deposited into the Children's Trust Fund. The cost of the plates will be $44.75 the first year and $30 for renewal years. The net to the Children's Trust Fund would be $28 per plate.
These dollars will then provide opportunities to fund primary prevention programs that will help Washington "Keep Kids Safe" from child abuse and neglect.
566. Recreation Programs for Palisade
Palisade Town Government has denied the Palisade residents a recreation program. This year will be the second year in a row. Our children as well as our adult residents need to have a recreation program, our town is small and there is little to do to keep our children occupied. The citizens of Palisade need to speek up and get a Recreation program going in Palisade.
567. Harsher Sentences for Child Killers
Warwrick kershaw killed his partner's 3-yrd-old daughter in palmerston North June 2003. Kershaw is x-army, and claimed he was stressed. This is an adult male who was specifically trained in brute strength, claiming that a blow from the back of his hand would be less servere that that of a close fist or even the palm of his hand.
Kershaw recieved a 3 year sentence and may only serve 2/3rds before he is released. The grieving family of the innocent child will go on to grieve long after that 3 year period. Kershaw will undoubtably pick up where he left off.
Over the past decade there have been horrendous violent and abusive crimes against children. The sentences given to the perpetrators however, have been minimal, reflecting the lack of value we have placed on our children.
The current Justice System does not reflect the Victim Impact, but rather justifies the perpetrators of violent crime.
We must speak up, and unite in an effort to have harsher sentences for Child Killers. Lets not give these people any more mixed messages about how we should treat our children, lets make it clear that our children are precious.
568. Stop Child Labour Worldwide

Purpose: We are submitting a petition because we want to raise the awareness of Child Labour. Child Labour is all over the world. The unfortunate children has to work hard day and night for pays under a dollar. They are usually sold by their parents because of debts. They don't even have a chance to see their family.
Request: My request is that all the children in schools to start taking action and do more researchs. We can start fundraisers to raise money to donate to save more children from Child Labour. Spread the news about Child Labour and how you can help. Thank you.
569. Increase Child Support in the USA
Children are not getting the financial support they need from one of their parents in most homes. Child support should be placed at a minimum of $100.00 per month if the mother/father earns at least $350 per month. If we continue to let parents get away with paying $50.00 per month child support our kids will not get what they deserve.
Many parents will not work because they have to pay child support. It should be pay or get locked up. The system should support the child more instead of the parent.
570. Chanh Truong's False Allegation for Child Molestation
To: State of Oklahoma
On the 19th of July 2002, Mr. Chanh Truong contested a nolo contendere plea and was sentenced to the state penitentiary for an indecent act. The Court decision was based on improper document translation procedure and the Court did not appoint a certified Vietnamese-English translator. When under duress from Court pressure, Chanh Truong signed documents without the English skill needed to understand the court's documents and sentences.
Mr. Chanh Truong is well known as a kind, peaceful, poetic, artistic, moral, and community oriented person. He has been a resident in Oklahoma county, Oklahoma ever since he settled in the U.S.A. in 1993. He has been married for 20 years to his lovely wife, Mrs. Thu Truong, and has two beautiful children. The children are great students in the Oklahoma County school district. Furthermore he is very active in the Vietnamese community where he participated in many of the community's activities such as cultural and historical events. He also served as a member at the Giac Quang Buddhist temple where he has had many contributions. In addition, he established stable employment at Unit Parts and has excellent references from his management and co-workers.
