151. Stop yearly domain name registration

Changing domain registration policy.

This is a petition to change the registration policy of domain names or intellectual property on the internet. This is a petition to see what people think about having to register there domain names each year for a constant changing fee. We feel that you should only pay a one time fee and this name should belong to you forever or until you transfer it or sell it.
Please support this effect to change this unfair policy.

152. Change U.S. Policy to Save North Korean Refugee Children in China

This Petition was started to lobby for the change of prohibitive U.S. Policy that makes it virtually impossible for North Korean refugees, in particular the young orphaned children, who are currently living in fear and hiding in China, to seek asylum and resettlement in the U.S. Countless thousands of these young children live on the streets under the constant threat of hunger, exploitation, abuse, arrest and repatriation. Recent crackdowns by the Chinese, who treat these refugees as illegal aliens, have worsened the situation, and immediate action is critical to saving these fragile lives.

153. Change the Linking Rule

The linking rule applies to DLA (disability living allowance) paid to disabled people for their care. If they go into respite care, and do not have twenty eight days in between breaks, they lose it. This means that carers may get a break, say at the sart of the school holidays, and they may have had a break two weeks before. They may then go all through the school holidays with no breah at all. This means that people are providing skilled nursing care, with no union no rights and no money, because they lose their DLA because of the two weeks. Confused? So are disabled people and their carers! Please help.

154. In Support of The Two Towers

This petition is against those people who think the second Lord Of The Rings movie's title The Two Towers are referring to the attack on The World Trade Center.

The book was titled The Two Towers back in 1954 so J.R.R Tolkien would in no way have known that the attack on WTC would happen.

Of course the attack was a very horrible thing but what these people are trying to do is for Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema to change the name of a master piece which is labeled in someone else's name.

Now this is where you get into the picture. We need you to sign the petition to let Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema know that we're behind them a 100%.

Just because some mentally bad functional person has to make a different perspective of the world in one day, it doesn't mean that we have to change titles.

Thank You For Your Help.

159. Adding Idaho on the felony list of animal abuse

When someone abuses an animal, in Idaho, they are given a misdemeaner. But in many other states they are felonies. I believe that animals have a right and if people are so cruel that they have to hurt or kill any animal they should be given a felony. Misdemeaners are like a slap on the hand. I have done lots of research and believe that I daho should change the law of being given a stupid misdemeaner. We need to stand up for the ones (animals) who aren't able to stand up for themselves!

160. Street blocking gives Evergreen a bad name

For the past two years, the MAC has blocked streets in Olympia.

We the undersigned students, faculty, staff and alumni of Evergreen State College, recognize that the Mayday street party is offensive to many people in the Olympia community and is ineffective as a tool for political change. Furthermore, we pledge not to participate unless the event is coordinated with the city of Olympia.

161. Yugoslavia goes on

March 18, 2002

In order to satisfy a whim of some Montenegrin politicians, a larger group of Yugoslav and European politicians decided to change the name of our country. They say: "It's only a formality. The most important thing is that we stayed together".

We don't agree. Those politicians haven't named Yugoslavia, so they can't rename it without people's consent. If they didn't struggle for this country; we did, our fathers and grandfathers did. We believe in those symbols, in our flag. If every other country is allowed to have its symbols, we want the same right.

Besides patriotic, social, historical and practical reasons, here are numerous other:

1. Costs.

When deciding about the "new state" Serbia and Montenegro, its creators said: "it's going to be a cheap state". But the very first step towards it is very expensive, time and energy consuming. It is not Tito; sorry, Milo who would have to change his school's name, his football-team's name, his passports all over again, his driving licenses, his addresses, his cinema's name, his business' name, his scientific projects' names. We would have to do it, to pay for it, and to dislike it. But we won't do it!

2. Symbolic meaning.

At the eve of the civil war in Yugoslavia which we also didn't want the persons who started it and sent so many people to death or holocaust, those individuals said with satisfaction: we've done with Yugoslavia! But they hadn't quite done, and we proudly carried on the name of our country despite of those criminals. Some of them still sit among us and use our hospitability.

They ordered the change from Milo and hope to call Yugoslavia by their name in the future. They want us to deny that we are Slavs since they aren't. They pay huge money for such goals. But our name isn't for sale!

3. Durability

The so called "Serbia and Montenegro" (pity they couldn't have made it longer) is going to last only for three years, after which a decision would be made about the final status of the Federation. Is it worthy to make such work, cost and inconvenience to us and the whole world for only three years, when a possibility of still another name might occur after that time?

4. Impracticability

It is not necessary to explain how unpractical it would be not only for Yugoslavs, but for the whole world to change the country's name.

5. Democracy

Milo's voters count less than 100 000. Yugoslavia's population is estimated on 10 000 000 (ten millions) people. Even if we suppose that all Milo's voters would accept the change of the state's name would it be democratic to carry on their will in comparison of the other 9 900 000 who don't want the change?

Milo of Montenegro is happy to see his
republic's name in the UN. He doesn't care that his and Serbian people would have to pay for the change.
If we are really so obliged to make him happy, let's put a title Union of Serbia and Montenegro in front of Yugoslavia, instead of Federal Republic as it stands now.

Serbian and Montenegrin Union Yugoslavia would be all right with us, we hope it would do for Milo. A half of Montenegrins didn't vote for him, anyway.

163. Pass Equal Rights Amendment in the USA

Think women have equal rights? Think again. There are still police that will let wives get beaten, saying it is a "Domestic Affair." Discrimination runs rampant in the workplace - espescially male dominated professions. Those of you going into those may have already experienced it in classrooms.

Arguments for why not to pass this amendment go as silly as to say that it will cause the elimination of men's and women's sex-segregated bathrooms. Even if that were true, who would care? It's just a bathroom - why does everybody have to attach a sexual meaning to everything? I really could care less who I am doing my business next to. This legislation needs to get passed and it needs to get passed now.

Those who say a simple amendment cannot change anything are wrong. The 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the Consititution form the basis from which the races are guaranteed equality today. We can change society.

165. Stop Summertime Hunting in Minnesota

The Bear Interest Group is working for an Ethical balance between Humans, Bears, and the Environment. This petition is to The Honorable Governor Jesse Ventura, Minnesota State Senators and House Representatives.

Please show your support by signing this petition to restrict Hunting to AFTER Labor Day in September, and before Fishing Opener in May !
It is high time that Minnesota initiates No Hunting during our Peak Tourism Season, to keep our summer time free from worry !

Summer is vacation time in Minnesota with Millions of tourists, 850,000 students out of school, and thousands of families visiting summer cabins.
Many people feel uncomfortable in the forest alongside hunters. Too many people have been mistaken for game, or hit by stray bullets. See our hunting accident report at www.BearInterestGroup.com.

In the year 2000, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) moved Bear Season Opener from September 1st to August 22nd. Hunting is increasing in summer and is particularly dangerous because leafy vegetation obscures visibility but does not stop bullets. Tourists need to be warned that over 20,000 bear hunters, some of them novices as young as twelve, will be sitting in the woods wearing camouflage, obscured by leaves, and carrying high-powered rifles. No one is required to wear orange.
Unsuspecting tourists may indeed be wearing black or brown.
Bullets can travel hundreds of yards through leaves and miles through the air.

Currently, hunting in Minnesota is conducted all 12 months of the year. During the summer, the animals being hunted are crow, fox and raccoon. Now add bear. These animals could easily be harvested with better pelts, during the other nine months of the year.
Our Bill will help all animals that need quiet summers to raise their young. When gun shots ring through the air, animals go on the run ! They are deprived of sufficient food and are denied the opportunity to teach their young how to survive.

We support hunting in the fall after the Labor Day weekend, but during the warm months we support safety for the millions of tourists and residents who want to enjoy Minnesota's vacationland without worry.

We, at the Bear Interest Group (BIG), have met with the DNR four times, to try to understand their position and learned that the DNR has no plan to mitigate the danger. They have not mentioned any plans to put up signs to warn tourists that hunters are in the woods during this time, and they are not requiring anyone to wear blaze orange.
Most tourists and residents are unaware that bear season opens this early.

This change also effects the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Yes, bear hunting is allowed in the BWCAW.
This change in the hunting season enables hunters to Shoot Big Game in the BWCAW with Shot Guns, Rifles and Pistols starting August 23rd and for the following 7 weeks of the Bear Season.
Boat Motors' are NOT allowed, but Guns are !!

You need to be informed of this significant change in the Hunting Season dates. Once you know, then it becomes your choice to be outdoors during the hunting seasons !

BIG has spent two years researching the economical, environmental, and safety concerns of allowing hunting during the summer and we are finding strong support among the public and the legislature for our bill. Nevertheless, the DNR is unwilling to delay the opening of bear hunting to after Labor Day. If the DNR is correct that there is a growing bear population, the reason they stated for issuing the early opener, there are other ways to control bears without threatening public safety.

166. Fathers' Equal Rights

My Name is Edward Goldstone. I am just one of many fathers who has had to say goodbye to their child. The last time I saw my son was July 9, 2000. This is due in large part to a court system that has large biases in custudy cases that give more rights to mothers as a parent. More often than not, the courts note only the father's income, rather than their ability to love and care for their child.

On December 22,1999, at the Abbotsford Courthouse, I was given legal visitation rights to see my son, and was required to pay a monthy child maintenance. Since then, in breach of the law, his mother has taken him and disappeared, denying me the right to see my boy, Austin. With the aid of private investigator, I have searched for my son's mother and grandmother with no success. I continue to pay monthly maintenance. Family Maintenance Program (which I volunteered to pay her through) knows where they are but doesn't have authorization to tell me.
Although she is deliberately breaking the law, the authorities can do nothing to stop her. This is due to the omission of a peace officer clause. Without this clause the police can't help me, essentially the court order means nothing. I am trying to get Dads' voices heard. Both parents should be given joint custody (providing the child is not in any danger) and a peace officer clause be included, to make the order inforceable.

I would like your help to put pressure on the Canadain Government to change these out-dated laws. You could help greatly by signing this petition. Its time for dads to have equal rights as parents!
