1. Stop BSL in Sikeston

The Breed Specific Legislation of Sikeston affects "Pit Bull Type" dogs based on appearance only. It has nothing to do with temperament.

We understand the purpose of BSL is to increase public safety, but it cannot do that because it completely overlooks temperament. Breed Specific Legislation is ruinously expensive to implement and enforce. Determining a dog's breed or mix is extremely difficult, often resulting in mistaken identities and ensuing lawsuits.

BSL does not stop dog attacks or bites. It increases the financial burden on our taxpayers, the Sikeston Area Humane Society, and our animal control. It doesn't stop irresponsible owners or dissuade criminals. It doesn't educate anyone about proper dog care. In the end, the punishment is doled out solely on responsible owners and good dogs. Good dogs are confined to their homes, unable to gain valuable social skills and training opportunities. Law-abiding owners are the only ones who end up shelling out money to pay for special insurance or fences.

BSL exists because we are looking for an easy way out. It's easy to point fingers at a group of voiceless dogs and call them "dangerous". It saves us from having to address the core problems - irresponsible/ignorant dog owners, bad breeders, criminals, and an uneducated public.

Some mistakenly believe we do not care about public safety because we object so strongly to BSL. On the contrary, we are acutely aware of the need for strong non-breed-specific dangerous/vicious dog laws, and fully support efforts to strengthen and enforce those laws. However, we also realize that the problem of dog bites and dog attacks does not lie within a single breed or group of breeds.

The problem ultimately lies with the individual owner, and that is where the focus of dangerous dog laws should be.

2. Bring Kai Home To His Family!

"Kai" was seized from his home on Tuesday 14th May 2013, after a neighbour reported to police that "Kai" was a "Pitbull" ! :(

The Police came to the family's property where they proceeded to measure "Kai", then after an assessment within the home (Where "Kai" showed to be a loving and well rounded dog), he was then taken by the Police to a Undisclosed Kennels in another county, where the family are told he will be held while being further assessed.

The family cannot visit or see "Kai" while this takes place and now the family awaits further news on "Kai" reference, court dates, ETC.

This family are now truly heartbroken because of their family member being taken from them, the family includes 4 children who are hurting and confused... wondering why their dog is gone. :(

DDA WATCH ARE involved in this case and are helping the family with legal advice etc.

But we need to make more people aware of how this BSL law needs to be changed, especially when it comes to innocent dogs who have a) done nothing wrong, and b) "Look" like they could be "Of Type".

Please visit www.worldwidecaninecrusade.com, and join for free to help us raise awareness and help change BSL WORLDWIDE.

Thanks,

4. Cardinia Shire Council - Let Rocket's Owners Visit!

Friendly dog Rocket was seized by Cardinia Shire Council for being of "pit bull type". This dog did absolutely nothing wrong, other than meet some of 22 points on a checklist devised by the Victorian Government to determine a 'restricted breed'.

Rocket has been held for several months in an undisclosed location and his owners are now having to fight for him in the Supreme Court.

The Department of Primary Industries Code of Practice for the Management of Dogs and Cats in Shelters and Pounds states that human interaction should be encouraged for dogs seized and housed for legislative purposes.

The Code of Practice also allows for public access to establishments during working hours, and by appointment for after hours or on weekends.

Cardinia Shire Council refuses to advise Rocket's owners where their dog is housed. They are depriving the right of their own rate payers and voters to visit their dog, and depriving Rocket of the interaction with his owners.

Additionally, Cardinia Shire Council are refusing to provide updates on the wellbeing of Rocket to Rocket's owners.

The actions of Cardinia Shire Council do not reflect the directions given by the Department of Primary Industries, State Government of Victoria.

This petition is to save a dog named Rocket. He has been taken by the Cardinia shire council, for being of "pit bull type".

Rocket has done nothing wrong other than fall under the Victorian Government's 22 point process, of determining a restricted breed.

The killing of innocent dogs has to stop.

6. ASPCA: Stop euthanizing pit bulls!

It is unfair to euthanize EVERY single pit bull type dog for scarring and/or being captured in a drug raid or pulled from the fighting ring.

Without even seeing whether or not the dog is capable of being rehabillitated, they put it down. Puppies (like the 12 week old ones rescued by the ASPCA, NYPD Vice Enforcement Division and Bronx District Attorney’s office, who have scarring from being 'fought') are still young enough to be rehabillitated to the point of being a house pet. I take it into my own hands, I own two american pit bull terriers. One is a blue named Duke, who is 8 months old and bought from a reputable breeder.

The other one, a piebald with pitbull named Rosco, was taken from a dog fighter. He had escaped a fighting ring and went on the streets. We took him in in our own hands. He now is so freindly with other animals. He loves to play play play play, but very gentally. I think that not all dogs can be rehabillitated, but a majority can. I understand the money issue, and time issue, but they would find a way to rehabillitate a Golden Retriever thtat is aggressive, a Labrador, a Great Dane, a Beagle; i can keep going all day. I have seen them say "we will find away to rehabillitate this dog and find it a home" when the dog is far more aggressive then some pit bulls rescued off of the streets, fighting rings etc. The whole fact about "worrying if the dog will get the right home" lingers i nthe air also.

Since pit bull type dogs are so eager to please, strong, agile, athletic and smart, many thugs like them for fighting. These dogs have stamina, Rosco (the one we rescued) can go for hours, running, jumping, swimming, everything, including chasing a ball! Duke (my blue who is more bull dog type, thick and at 8 months is 70 pounds, and Rosco is 72 pounds and he is 4 years!) is so lazy, and flops down panting within 10 minutes of play; depsite how hot it is that day. I think that it is the SPCA's or person who is placing that dog into the correct home, to do home checks, and check ups on that dog. Every month or so, do check ups at the house. If you think theyre sketchy, or live in the "rough" part of town where the dog could be used negativley (i.e. intimidation, gaurding, attack dog, fighting dog etc.) pass over the people! You cannot just go giving this dog breed to anyone, but that doesnt mean "put them all to sleep because people are idiots and irresponsible"!

Now, what does banning breeds solve? Irresponsible ownershipe? No. dog fatalities? Maybe by 1%. Over population in pounds? No, irresponsible people, i.e. thugs etc., will do anything to get a dog breed they want, even if it is breaking the law. I think their should be no laws on dog breeds, but laws regulating who can own certain breeds, and who can own an animal. Maybe their should be a test you ...have to take for 1 year. 1 year you have to do things in the community proving that you are responsible, and not an abuser. You get pulled over? No dog. You get arrested? Certainly no dog. If anything bad were to happen to you in that 1 year period, than no dog until you can prove that you are responsible enough too own one.

If they want a head strong dog, than they should not only practice and show responsibility, but they should make out a game plan saying, Okay the dog will have to sit here, not dash out the door, walk good on a leash, not challenge me, not dominate me, and not bully or push me around. Just because a breed of dog bites, or over populates, doesn't mean put them all to sleep and ban the breed. Say someone had 32 kids, and the parents died... The 32 kids had to go to an orphanage, and some kids have mental problems, and anger problems..what do we do? Put them all to sleep? Keep them locked up? No, try to get them better. Would the government ban parents for breeding, or owning children that could one day end up a thug, a murderer, a rapist etc.? No, they just say "raise it right and it will act right!". Than why cant it be the same with animals?! If an african american person shot somebody, it is not right to go around be skeptical of every african americans just because one shot somebody.

If a Caucasian person rapes someone, is it acceptable to go around being afraid of caucasions? No, the answer is NO. If racism and genocide is illegal, than why are we still doing it? Not necessarily to people, but to dog breeds. This needs to end, if it isent judging someone for body weight, color, sexual orientation or anything, its judging an animal for the breed it is.

BLAME THE OWNER, NOT THE ANIMAL. BLAME THE DRIVER, NOT THE CAR. BLAME THE SHOOTER, NOT THE GUN. BLAME THE PEOPLE, NOT THE WORLD This has been constantly making me and family and friends upset, euthanizing E.V.E.R.Y pit bull rescued. It upsets me, especially this latest case (link posted here---------->) http://www.lifewithdogs.tv/2012/06/nypd-breaks-up-brutal-bronx-dogfighting-ring/ will result in death for the dogs. This is my duty of being an advocate of the breed, to save these dogs... here is a link to my page on facebook, dedicated to the breed, please like share and post what ever you like... afraid of the breed? We will help you not be... have questions of anything? Feel free to ask us!

Thanks, the lives of those pit bulls and the pit bulls of tomorrow, are in our hands.

7. Stop them from killing Mylo

My 11 year old niece's dog 'Mylo' got out a few days ago and ended up at the Lost Dogs home in Nth Melbourne.

He was not registered and now after a meeting with Brimbank council, council have ordered that he be killed on Sunday. He's done nothing wrong and is a sweet, gentle soul who sleeps with my niece every night.

BUT because they suspect he has Pit bull in him, they want to kill him, even though he has never as much as looked at anyone the wrong way. So I'm begging everyone to PLEASE sign this and save this beautiful boy or else my niece will go on Sunday, being Mother's day to say goodbye to her best friend! This is wrong and it's bullying beyond belief!

-------------------------------------------------------

Update as of 16th July 2012

Mylo is still being held at the Lost Dogs Home and we are waiting on a court date which should be soon! Brodie visits Mylo but has to make an appointment first and to say that this is stressing them both out is an understatement! But Mylo is still alive and we are hoping that he will be home as soon as possible and then we have to keep fighting against this BSL as too many innocent babies have already died and alot are locked up in pounds too! The madness needs to stop!!

They are even killing registered dogs now in this state so no dog is safe!

8. STOP BREED-SPECIFIC LEGISLATION IN BASTROP LA

Put a stop to breed-specific legislation(BSL). Everyday a dog is mistaken for a pit bull. There are over 25+ dog breeds that can look very similar to an American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT). Also, everyday laws are being put in place to take away or restrict our pets. Any dog has the potential to be dangerous.

I do not agree with dog fighting and that being said, feel that laws against fighting should be enforced better. All of this is the result of irresponsible owners. The APBT is NOT a human aggressive breed. They love humans and want to please us. They are also a great family dog, wonderful with children. They didn't get the nickname Nanny Dog for nothing. If no one does anything about this euthanasia will be next. It is impossible to enforce the registration of one specific breed.

Please, help us in our efforts to stop BSL before it's too late. Once our breed is gone they will find another breed to slander and it could be yours. There is no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners.

9. Gibraltar Dog Lovers Against Breed Specific Legislation

In 1997, an amendment was made to the Dangerous Dogs Act, after years of pressure from campaigners and welfare groups, to stop the killing of certain 'illegal' breeds, known as the 'Breed Specific Legislation'. Even this does not stop the killings of these dogs, as it is very difficult to prove whether a dog has in fact 'committed an offence' in a court of law.

Years have passed, and still this legislation remains, in Gibraltar, when few, if any, of these 'certain types of pit bulls', have acted angrily or committed an offence under this act. It is time for this legislation to be looked into and amended, to allow the importation of these types of breeds.

We believe that dogs, irrelevant of breed, are not to blame, only owners who do not understand or care are responsible for their actions.

11. Remove Pit Bull Prohibition in Walton

Walton Animal Ordinance 90.20 and 90.21, which defines "Pit Bull" and prohibits ownership, location, maintenance, keeping, harboring or use of Pit Bull Terriers in the City of Walton based on such dogs being inherently dangerous and a public nuisance.

The definition of Pit Bulls is based on AKC and UKC physical description, but fails to take into account the same organizations temperament standards. Pit Bull type dogs are NOT to be Human Aggressive and signs of aggression are a fault.

There are more than 25 different breeds that have the “predominant physical characteristics of the dogs commonly referred to as ‘Pit Bulls’. According to the National Canine Research Council, “In recent years, scientists have established that visual identification of dogs of unknown origin is extremely unreliable.

12. Against Breed Specific Legislation in the U.S.

BSL is a problem for the US in that it only creates more problems for citizens than it fixes them. States that enact these laws cause criminals only to switch breeds or go even more undetected.

Other solutions exist to lower the rates of fatal attacks that include regulating dog owners, educate the public on how to act around, treat, and raise these animals, and enforce more local awareness and care for owners off of their property with their dogs.

13. Improve lipreading classes for people with hearing loss

Lipreading is a vital communication skill for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. It helps to build confidence and independence, avoid social isolation and keep people in employment. Lipreading is a useful coping mechanism for the full spectrum of hearing loss and can be used to supplement hearing aids to maximise communication skills.

The best way to learn to lipread is through regular classes by a qualified tutor. However an RNID report found that in England there are too few classes and many people with a hearing loss are unable to attend. Many classes have closed and many more are threatened with closure. This is because the vital skill of lipreading is classified as a ‘leisure’ activity meaning that little central funding is available to run the classes and learners are expected to pay high fees.

RNID, the charity taking action on hearing loss, is calling on the Government to reclassify lipreading as an ‘essential’ skill so more people can attend a class that is available at little to no cost to them.

Please sign our petition to show your support for people with a hearing loss to have access to learn this vital skill or their communication and encourage others to do so.

14. NO to anti-dog law project in Russia

Newly introduced anti-Russian law project # № 458458-5 "About responsible animals treatment" needs to go to the garbage where it belongs.

Authors of such have no clue about the subject to the extension of the point they labeled two Russian National Breeds, Caucasian Ovtcharka, and Alabai ( common description name for Central Asian Ovtcharka aka Central Asian Shepherd) “dangerous breeds”.

Caucasian anb Central Asian Shepherds' dogs are livestock guardians with thousands' years history, nowdays are recognized by international purebred dog originations and World community as Russian Native Breeds. Both modern breeds were developed by generations of Russian Cynologists who carefully selected best representatives of aboriginal ancestors to form a unique population on this basis. Both breed representatives proved themselves into the best possible way by achieving excellent results in working qualities and confirmation in Russia and overseas, winning hearts of dogs’ fanciers and professionals.

Purebred dog breeding, as a part of purebred animal breeding, needs to be considered a historical element of Russian national culture. Outstanding National breeds of dogs and other animals, are as much of an integral part of national culture as Ballet, Vavilov Seeds Collection, matrjoshka etc.

The announcement of fine most valuable animals "dangerous" not only displays uncultivated, ignorant attitude to a heritage of ancestors, but also is a slap in the face to the Breeds’ authors and admirers around the World.

Only totally illiterate and clueless in the subject person, who does not care about the essence of the issue, can announce any domesticated animal “dangerous” by belonging a certain breed.

By statistics, such laws did not lead to any results other than monetary losses from the budget and overall stress level elevations, in countries such as in USA, where overall numbers of four legged friends as well as laws regulating relationships with those, grossly prevailing such numbers in Russia. American Kennel Club, and United Kennel Club, leading US dog registration organizations, that register millions of purebred dogs per year, developed special legal departments to counteract such law projects. Both Kennel clubs maintain sites highlighting their position and actions online , AKC , UKC, and other numerous organizations.

What is fairly elucidating, they already learned devastating effects of introductions of illiterate written laws. However, the economic damage is a minor issue in comparison with moral damage to prestige of the country that publicly "rejects" its own four-legged citizens, hanging up on them unclear "dangerous" labels. This is inadmissible.

There were published way more reasonable versions of pet laws, aimed to broad more than adequate existing laws governing relationships between two- and four-legged citizens of Russia.

15. Ban Based on Action

Paw by Paw wants to give the Pit bull breeds a chance at life and BSL takes that away from them along with the other breeds. BSL has been proven to be ineffective, heartbreaking, and costly. Owners are being ripped away from their beloved companion, which have not done anything wrong.

It has been proven that any dog can be trained to attack, so focusing on specific breeds will never fix the problem. Irresponsible owners are the ones that should be punished because they took on the responsibility of training their dog the basics rules. The dogs pay with their life, but the humans just get a slap on the wrist.

16. Grande Prairie Alberta Petition to change Animal Bylaw so its not breed specific

The effects of BSL on public safety are seriously understudied, especially by the scientific community.

News media frequently misidentifies breeds and types of dogs.

To date, there are no scientific studies anywhere that confirm BSL or breed bans have had a significant positive effect on public safety.

Cities and Municipalities are now starting to review and change the BSL realizing that it doesn’t solve the problem.

Innocent people continue to be threatened, bitten, traumatized, disfigured, and killed—by non-targeted breeds and types of dogs.

Innocent dogs are killed because they look a certain way. Abusive and irresponsible owners carry on mistreating these dogs; while the good owners and their families are judged because they own a certain dog or devastated because they have had to give their dog up.

Nobody learns anything about the real reasons why dogs bite and attack, safety around dogs, or responsible dog ownership.

Breed-specific legislation makes victims of us all. Just because your breed isn’t on the list yet doesn’t mean it couldn’t be in the near future.

BSL does nothing to address the root of the problem - irresponsible dog ownership. It punishes the responsible dog owners. Bad owners simply move onto other breeds when their breed is banned. To assume that by removing "pit bulls" from a community without addressing irresponsible owners makes any community safer is naive. Rather, breed bans simply give residents a false sense of security as the true dangerous dogs still remain in the community with their irresponsible owners.

Any dog can bite – Any dog can be made aggressive and be trained to attack.

17. Reverse BSL in Ohio

Ohio state law regards any dog that is or resembles a "pit bull" as a "vicious dog" and places special restrictions on owners for having these animals. The following is an excerpt from that law.

Confining Pit Bull Dogs
(Ohio Revised Code Section 955.22D)

Dogs that are a “breed of dog commonly known as a Pit Bull” are automatically considered to be vicious under Ohio law. They must be confined on the owner’s property by means of a locked fenced yard, a locked dog pen that has a top, or some other locked enclosure (such as a house). This law applies not only to purebred American Pit Bull dogs, but also to other pure bred and mixed breed dogs that have similar physical and behavioral characteristics. Animal Control Officers make the determination as to whether or not a dog is a “breed of dog commonly known as a Pit Bull.” The maximum penalty for a violation of this section on a first offense is a $1,000 fine and up to six months imprisonment. If the dog seriously injures a person, or this is a second offense of this section, the charge may be filed as a felony.

Insuring Pit Bull Dogs
(Ohio Revised Code Section 955.22E)

Dogs that are a “breed of dog commonly known as a Pit Bull” are automatically considered to be vicious under Ohio law. Owners of these dogs must maintain at least $100,000 of liability insurance coverage on these animals. The maximum penalty for a violation of this section is a $1,000 fine and up to six months imprisonment. If you have any questions regarding these laws, please contact a Field Supervisor at the Franklin County Department of Animal Control’s Enforcement Division at 614-462-3400.

Confining, restraining, debarking dogs.
(Ohio Revised Code Section 955.22E)

(C) Except when a dog is lawfully engaged in hunting and accompanied by the owner, keeper, harborer, or handler of the dog, no owner, keeper, or harborer of any dog shall fail at any time to do either of the following:

(1) Keep the dog physically confined or restrained upon the premises of the owner, keeper, or harborer by a leash, tether, adequate fence, supervision, or secure enclosure to prevent escape;

(2) Keep the dog under the reasonable control of some person.

(D) Except when a dangerous or vicious dog is lawfully engaged in hunting or training for the purpose of hunting and is accompanied by the owner, keeper, harborer, or handler of the dog, no owner, keeper, or harborer of a dangerous or vicious dog shall fail to do either of the following:

(1) While that dog is on the premises of the owner, keeper, or harborer, securely confine it at all times in a locked pen that has a top, locked fenced yard, or other locked enclosure that has a top, except that a dangerous dog may, in the alternative, be tied with a leash or tether so that the dog is adequately restrained;

(2) While that dog is off the premises of the owner, keeper, or harborer, keep that dog on a chain-link leash or tether that is not more than six feet in length and additionally do at least one of the following:

(a) Keep that dog in a locked pen that has a top, locked fenced yard, or other locked enclosure that has a top;

(b) Have the leash or tether controlled by a person who is of suitable age and discretion or securely attach, tie, or affix the leash or tether to the ground or a stationary object or fixture so that the dog is adequately restrained and station such a person in close enough proximity to that dog so as to prevent it from causing injury to any person;

(c) Muzzle that dog.

(E) No owner, keeper, or harborer of a vicious dog shall fail to obtain liability insurance with an insurer authorized to write liability insurance in this state providing coverage in each occurrence, subject to a limit, exclusive of interest and costs, of not less than one hundred thousand dollars because of damage or bodily injury to or death of a person caused by the vicious dog.

18. Help stop (BSL) in the state of Michigan. SAVE THE PITBULLS

These breed specific legislations are wrong and discriminatory. We need to save our pets specifically pitbulls from this never ending onslaught of bans.

19. Stop B.S.L. for Pit Bull Terriers

Petition to stop eradication of American Pit Bull Terriers and other breeds of dog due to Breed Specific Legislation (B.S.L.), A law unfairly targetting all responsible owners.

An owners understanding of dogs, supervision of dogs and children, sterilization and chaining as primary means of confinement all can play roles in attacks.

Aggressive dogs are found among any breed and cross breed.

B.S.L. is prejudicial in nature. It punishes dogs and owners who have done nothing wrong. It is discriminatory against people who choose to own a specific breed.

20. Stop breed specific legislation against Pit Bulls and other dogs

Every year thousands of pit bulls are put down because of their breed. In some states and counties your are not even allowed to own a pit bull.

Pit bulls are reported as aggressive dogs but it is scientifically proven you are more likely to get bitten by a Dachshund or a Chihuahua, the two most aggressive dogs in the world.

Pit bulls are by nature, very people friendly and will happily make friends with anyone they see. Consider this the next time you see a Pit Bull. Breed specific legislation is discrimination. The sad part is pit bulls are not the only victims.

It would be nice to see that no breed of dog is on this list. I would love to have every single breed of this list.

22. STOP Breed Specific Legislation!!

Breed Specific Legislation is taking away an animal that we as Americans have come to love as pets, family, companions. It’s punishing a totally innocent animal of something it had no control over. What happened to not having animal cruelty? And abuse??

Putting down an animal because of its “breed” is cruel and unusual. If a dog has already been made mean, or bred to fight, I can understand it needs to be put down. There wouldn’t be any sense in endangering anyone any longer. But what about those dogs that have been raised right? With love and compassion. Or raised with children who it loves and protects?? There is NO need what so ever in taking these animals lives, taking them away from good families that love them.

BSL should not be an issue in the lives of pet owners. Not just Pits, but all aggressive breed dogs are being exterminated. They are not pests, or disease infected rodents. They are DOGS. PETS. FRIENDS. And FAMILY. Some are even used as handicap dogs, and police dogs. They are highly intelligent animals and also can be very sweet and loving. And most will die protecting their family.

As far as their temperament goes, they have passed temperament tests with flying colors, scoring better than Chihuahua and even Golden Retrievers. They can be taught and trained correctly. But unfortunately they can also be destroyed just as easy.

A dog is only as good as it’s owner. When a dog attacks someone or is fighting another dog, it is just simply doing all it knows how to do. What it was asked to do. What it must do to make a HUMAN happy.

This is where BSL needs to take a better look. A dog’s family life should be well looked at. It should be taken into consideration that, if it is living with a good family that takes care of it, trains and raises it well, it’s life should be spared. And the emotions of its owners spared as well. If it’s a questionable situation, and maybe an unfriendly dog, it should be taken away from the person, and perhaps admitted to a rescue, where people who love them can work with them and try to make a difference in the “unfriendly” personality.

As for the owners of these dogs, THEY need to be the ones punished. Especially if proof of fighting or illegal breeding is going on in their regards.

If we focus on getting a handle on these people, cracking down more on finding where dogfights take place, or where these dogs are being bred, not to mention abused.. (which is illegal, correct?) It would take a huge strain off dog owners who love their dogs and treat them well. People that have Pits as wonderful family pets and don’t wish to loose them because they have the “potential” to be mean. Even for people who don’t care for the breed could become less worried about them if they knew the only ones around them were going to be well managed, well trained animals. They would not have to fear them… IF the people who abuse them, were no longer around.

Putting a stop to Breed Specific Legislation will be giving aggressive breed dogs a fighting chance to NOT be fighters. But to be LOVING, LOYAL dogs. Also a chance to reach their true “potentials” as smart, wonderful dogs.. not mean ones.

23. Support 127 HB 366! Help remove breed specifics from our legislation

We have a new chance at beating BSL again in Ohio.

Representative Shawn Webster has introduced the bill.

It has hurdles to cross and it definitely needs everyone's support. You can write your representatives and voice your opinion, call their offices.

Sign this petition and I will send it to the appropriate place.

I have been a victim of false allegations because of BSL and lost my wonderful dogs of 7 years with my family.

Please sign this and show support and show that our breed is a wonderful family animal.

24. Ban The Deed NOT The Breed

It's is just not right to ban every pit bull because of a few that were not raised w/ the love && care that most people give there dogs. I have seen more Chihuahua attacks than pit bull attacks. What r u going to do when they start banning your Chihuahuas or poodles?

It is getting so out of control where i live in Sparta Tennessee that you can not have a pit bull or any kind of dog that is a bull breed such as american bulldogs american staffordshire terriers bull terriers ect. You can't have any kinda of mix breed dog that is mixed w/ any kind of breed that i just mentioned and you can't have a dog that LOOKS like a pit bull!! Thank you so much for reading.

25. Anti BSL (Breed-specific legislation)

BSL IS NOT THE ANSWER

BSL does not address these root causes behind dog attacks. It simply blames a particular breed or breeds without actually solving the real problem of irresponsible ownership and lack of education.

BSL is illogical, expensive, and ineffective. Non-breed-specific dangerous dog laws and anti-cruelty laws are more effective, provided those laws are strongly written and firmly enforced. Increased education (especially for dog owners and children) will also help reduce dog bites/attacks, as will low-cost spay/neuter campaigns.

We need more funding for animal control agencies to enforce the laws and tackle dog fighting. These strategies make sense.

BSL is a wet bandaid.

26. Help Stop Breed Ban in Minnesota

****THANKS TO ALL FOR SIGNING MY PETITION, YOU ARE HELPING ALL "MISUNDERSTOOD" DOG OWNERS HAVE THE CHANCE TO SAVE THEIR BEST FRIEND!

There is a suggested ban of 5 breeds in Minnesota for next year. These include Pit Bulls, Akitas, Chow Chows, Rottweilers, and Wolf Hybrids.

There are many loving dog owners who are in jeapordy of losing their best friend. Making this proposal is like trying to ban a certain race just because the media says they commit more crimes.

THIS IS PREJUDICE...TOGETHER WE CAN ALL STOP BREED SPECIFIC LEGISLATION!!!
