Stepfamilies Australia is a new national stepfamily association formed in 2008 from a network of state stepfamily associations working for stepfamilies since 1981.
Stepfamilies Australia provides:
• a national ‘voice’ to raise the profile of stepfamilies
• information and support services including a telephone helpline
• research around stepfamily issues
• links to state stepfamily associations and services
For too long, stepfamilies in Australia have been discounted, but stepfamilies have lots to offer Australian society. They demonstrate flexibility, respect, and ability to adjust creatively to change.
Stepfamilies Australia invites the Australian Government to:
- develop stepfamily-inclusive family policy
- recognise that repartnering with children brings complex unique challenges which often places family stability at risk, and
- provide adequately funded, specialised prevention and early intervention supports
All stepfamilies and supporters are invited to:
• Sign the online petition
• email your family, friends and colleagues to support it too
• visit your local Federal MP, tell your stepfamily story, educate them about stepfamilies unique issues and need for more support.
2. Allow Maximum Permissible Ethanol in Australia
South Australian Farmers Fuel Pty Ltd (SAFF) continues to lead the way in the production and distribution of Biofuels throughout rural and regional Australia.
SAFF is endeavoring to provide to consumers E85 Biopetrol (a blend of 15% petrol and 85% fuel alcohol produced from wheat and grape waste).
Ethanol-blended fuels will reduce Australia’s dependence on imported petroleum. The introduction of ethanol-blended fuels will also provide an economic boost to Australia’s rural economies and assist improvement to the environment by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.
Fuel-alcohol blended fuels are cleaner, renewable and has superior fuel economy to Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG). The retail price of E85 Biopetrol to Australian consumers will be only slighter greater than LPG.
