Sourav Ganguly fans, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) team supporters, and Indian cricket lovers across globe are greatly shocked, flabbergasted and humiliated by observing the recent IPL-3 award nomination pattern.
Sourav Ganguly despite being in tremendous batting form and one of the top contenders for ‘Orange cap’ for highest run getter in IPL-3, was not selected for best batsman category for IPL award Night to be held on 23rd April,2010.
After the group league, he stood at No. 3 in run getting with a 68 runs short from highest run getter Sachin Tendulkar (561).
Sourav Ganguly is/was selected for two categories:
Best captain:
http://www.iplt20.com/awards_viewer.php?dg=14
Best catch:
http://www.iplt20.com/awards_viewer.php?dg=15
Sourav took four marvelous catches in this IPL which were just a treat to your eyes! Sourav Tiwari ( First MI match) and Jadav's ( Delhi match) close-in blinders and then the stupendous catch of Yusuf Pathan of RR ( Compared to 1983 Kapil Dev's Richard catch in final and closer in nature Martin crowe's catch in 1987 Reliance Cup which was selected eventually the best catch in the tournament). In the last match against MI, again he was awarded Karbon Kamal catch for another superb catch!
IPL committee (actually BCCI) is doing every bit of politics by not giving DADA the nomination for best fielder this time! Sourav Ganguly- the best fielder!!
They (BCCI) and his critics can't think of!! At 38 , a person is showing this much of fitness - Dada's naysayer can't digest the fact and hence can't show the generosity and justice a bit to him. That's the level of Indian cricket authorities’ impartiality or better say - narrow lobbing and parochialism! If there is no backer for you in cricket board, board will not do any justice to you at all.
And the bigger politics the IPL award committee shows as Sourav Ganguly was not mentioned in best batsman nomination at all. All from top five run getter got selected except Sourav(Dada) despite being in top 3 run getter !! How ridiculous and shameless IPL governing body and award jury can be!
Dada scored nearly 500 runs (493) with an average of nearly 38 -- 37.92) Yusuf pathan is in the nomination list almost with 160 runs short of Sourav Ganguly with an average of 27! Strike rate can't be the excuse because Sourav Ganguly (SR -117) and Kallis' SR (119) are almost comparable. Another man, Murli Vijay is in nomination with same average of Dada with a 75 runs short of him! Srinivasan (BCCI Secretary) and Srikanth's (Selection Commitee chairman) Tamilnadu dominates now Indian cricket very shamelessly with addition of Lalit Modi's Rajasthan in this IPL-3. And that's why Murali Vijay and Yusuf are 'IN' in nomination and Sourav is 'OUT' despite being much better consistent bat in IPL-3!
Millions of cricket fan across globe perceive this incidence and recent actions of IPL award committee and jury as a conspiracy against Sourav Ganguly and the crux of this controversy is – special favouritism to a certain group of people. Cricket lovers also apprehend that without the morale support of a section of IPL and BCCI officials, award committee may not have attempted such a ludicrous and obnoxious nomination process which eventually questions the transparency and the integrity of IPL governing body.
We Indian cricket lovers see this action, as a deliberate malicious ploy and attempt against an iconic, statistically one of the most successful Indian cricketers in IPL 2010 and the best performer of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Hence, we Indians, KKR supporters and Sourav Ganguly fans are extremely annoyed and upset over such nomination process of IPL cricket body which lacks right selection yardstick and benchmark to a great extent.
Sourav Ganguly being our national pride, iconic cricketer in IPL and an international ambassador of cricket, we feel that our national image has been tarnished with such obnoxious act of IPL governing body in front of so many foreign players present in IPL and the rest of the cricket fraternity. It is needless to say that cricket, the game of etiquette, and its fraternity both have been humiliated as well with this malicious award nomination process by IPL governing body.
IPL chairman, Mr. Lalit Modi is rightfully answerable to the entire cricket fraternity for his inconsistency and irregularities in action. He should take the onus of the wrong, doubtful award nomination process and make the necessary correction with immediate effect to bring more transparency in whole award giving process.
Support and show the solidarity for Dada!

2. Australian Award for Timor-Leste
During 1942, seven hundred Australian soldiers of the 2/2 and 2/4 Independent Companies were sent to the neutral Portuguese colony of Timor, just off the north-west coast of Australia.
The Japanese army was moving south rapidly and the island of Timor was seen as a possible place from which Australia could be attacked. The few Australians conducted a successful guerilla campaign against the thousands of Japanese military who subsequently arrived. The Timorese people sided with the Australians, feeding, sheltering and guiding them.
Young men carried the Australians' packs, led them through the jungles, advised on the best attacking positions and proved themselves loyal companions. They took them to their homes and the families shared what they had, nursing the Australians when they were wounded or sick. The toll on the Timorese was heavy, with at least 40,000 civilians dying as a result of Japanese reprisals and Australian bombing raids on Japanese positions. The Australians who returned testify to the courage, generosity and kindness of the Timorese.
There has yet been no official Australian recognition of this unique contribution to the welfare of Australians during the War, nor of the toll exacted on the small Timorese population.
3. Bob Dylan Congressional Gold Medal
A Congressional Gold Medal is an award bestowed by the United States Congress and is, along with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States. The decoration is awarded to an individual who performs an outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States. American citizenship is not a requirement.
The Gold Medal and the Presidential Medal of Freedom are generally considered to carry the same level of prestige (though significantly fewer Gold Medals have been awarded). The chief difference between the two is that the Freedom Medal is personally awarded by the President of the United States (executive branch), and Congressional Gold Medals are awarded by acts of the Congress (legislative branch). Per committee rules, legislation bestowing a Congressional Gold Medal upon a recipient must be co-sponsored by two-thirds of the membership of both the House of Representatives and the Senate before their respective committees will consider it.
Since the American Revolution, Congress has commissioned gold medals as its highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions. Each medal honors a particular individual, institution, or event. Although the first recipients included citizens who participated in the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War, Congress broadened the scope of the medal to include actors, authors, entertainers, musicians, pioneers in aeronautics and space, explorers, lifesavers, notables in science and medicine, athletes, humanitarians, public servants, and foreign recipients.
Bob Dylan has been among the pre eminent artists of the 20th and 21st centuries in the United States. His impact on popular culture particularly in song form, performance and the creation of highly personal songwriting which is simultaneously deeply linked to American folk music and popular arts is unique and worthy of this singular award.
4. Robert Smith for Outstanding Contribution to Music Brit Award 2009
We think Robert should be considered for the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at the 2009 Brit Awards.
This year he has completed a sell out stadium world tour, he has had a career in music spanning almost 30 years, he has influenced many of the modern bands of today and without him there would be a whole genre of music which wouldn't exist. He has helped and managed several other successful bands, he writes all his own music and he also does lots of work for charity.
The Cure will be releasing a new studio album in October 2008 which will be their 13th studio album. We think this is all an achievement which should be recognised.
ANF is circulating a petition calling on the AIRC to reject the other unions and employer push to scrap nursing awards and to ensure that nurses' minimum wages and employment conditions are protected by nursing awards.

8. Halo 3 needs more recognition
Halo 3 is in mine and alot of people's minds a great game, but some...the people who give out the damn awards...say that it was inferior to some others games in 2007.
For example, at the Video Game Awards...the gave the award for best shooting game to Call of Duty 4, not to say anything about that game but Halo 3 should have taken that award.
What I want to say about this in conclusion is just, do you really think that, and if you don't please help me try and make a difference.

11. Shiima Xion Newcomer of the Year 2005
In the year 2004 AD, a trashy Filipino male supermodel named Shiima Xion debuted in the International Wrestling Cartel. Shiima put on stellar performance after stellar performance in IWC throughout the remainder of 2004 and even more so in 2005. IWC rightfully nominated Shiima as a contender for the "2004 Newcomer of the Year" award.
Shiima won the award in a landslide victory, but somehow ended up sharing that victory with his then arch-rival, Jason Gory (aka angry mime). Rumor has it that Jason Gory simply voted for himself on every computer in his school computer lab...twice! (he erased cookies on every freakin PC) which led to the tie occuring. Shiima, irate and confused, chose to disregard Gory's attempts at stealing his spotlight, and proceeded to declare himself the official Newcomer of the Year.
For whatever reason, IWC promoter Norm Connors booked a match on July 29th, 2005 between Gory and Shiima to determine the undisputed 2004 Newcomer of the Year. Shiima lost to Gory on that night, and unwillingly passed his 2004 Newcomer of the Year torch to the little fairy boy. Since that loss, Shiima Xion has received an IWC World Title shot, IWC Tag Title shots, IWC International Title shots, and wrestled in notable promotions such as Chikara and Pro Wrestling Unplugged. What has the "undisputed" Newcomer of the Year done since winning the award? Well..he won the Tex-Arkana Title for a couple seconds. Enough Said.
Shiima Xion proved in 2005 that he is once again deserving of a nomination for the Newcomer of the Year. Some may say, "Shiima isn't a newcomer anymore, though." Understandable, but one must remember that Shiima Xion is a supermodel. How is that relevent? Simple. A supermodel never gets old, never gets routine, never gets stale...and is ALWAYS in season. Shiima Xion is not last season, nor is he "last year." Shiima Xion is the future, and by signing this online petition, you the fans (aka Shiimarks) are recognizing that you want the future to look bright in IWC. Let's make it happen.
Let's get Shiima Xion a nomination on the 2005 Newcomer of the Year award, and allow our beloved Virgin Slayer to be the only TWO TIME Newcomer of the Year in the history of professional wrestling.
12. Dr. Crichlow for a UOIT teaching award
This is a teacher with great amount of knowledge and wonderful teaching ability. He brings life, knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity to all his lectures. The use of laptop for power point presentations gives the student a great amount of visual knowledge. He incorporates the use of technology well by providing some online discussions after class and the use of online lecture. He's a posted website which can better enrich our knowledge of our courses. The course outline designed by Dr. Crichlow was well in detailed to allow his students to have a better understanding of the course.
Dr. Crichlow not only is willing to help his students with course work. His open mind aids students with their other problem like how to cope with life in this new university. The skill we are able to obtain by his guidance includes responsibility, critical thinking and initiative.
The designs of his courses are very interesting. Dr. Crichlow was able to schedule in three days to bring students of both the Rights and Freedom and Immigration Law to the Lindsay Correctional Institution, where students were able to learn first hand what it's like to be in the field of Criminal Justice. His hard work in incorporating material from the text books to acquiring guest speakers to speak and share their own experiences with our class.
Dr. Crichlow's visions for this university are vast and will take a few years to achieve, but with his focus and determination, it can be done in less amount of time.

15. Ban American scientists from the privilege of a Nobel Prize
This petition is to ban US scientists from the privilege of a Noble Prize.
The US is using unfair competition practices and using Nazi immigration law against PhD holders from US academia forcing them to leave the US without immediate employement.
