Power prices in Tasmania are far too high.
We want to petition to Aurora Energy to bring their prices down - we don't need to be paying the extraordinary amounts that we do.
An epidemiological study was conducted by the American Medical Association to finalize whether the media is indeed responsible for societal violence.
Research compared the happenings of surrounding nations with television, to that of nations without. All observed areas were both demographically and ethnically identical, having the television alone as a variable. The findings were astounding. Every examined region, in which media had been introduced, had a drastic upswing in the rate of violence with children. Within fifteen years the murder rate had doubled.
The span of time can be explained simply in that it was the duration needed for the exposed three to five year olds to reach the 'prime crime age'. One example supporting these findings occurred in a small Canadian town in the year of 1973. At this time the town had just been introduced to media influence. Shortly after, there was an incredible 160 percent increase in aggression among the first and second graders of the area. Yet another example is the outstanding increase in the imprisonment rate, which has quadrupled since 1975, a year in which media violence had become more prevelant.
Presently, in the United States, there are about two million teens who have possession of a deadly weapon, approximately 135,000 carry them to school. Many believe this is due to overexposure to violence in the media. On average, media viewers encounter an act of serious violence such as: rape, kidnapping, murder, or assault once every four minutes.
The problem we face is the possibility of when viewing these horrendous acts consistently, youth will be more inclined to mimic these actions publicly. One such example is the infamous movie, Natural Born Killers (a Warner Brother production) that has been found to be responsible for more than a dozen murder cases, such as the following. In the year of 1994, a fourteen-year-old boy, who was accused of decapitating his younger sister, claimed he only had wished to be like the Natural Born Killers. Yet another teen, who had become obsessed with the movie, shaved his head and wore tinted green granny glasses (like Mickey the main character) before murdering his stepmother and half-sister.
The American Medical Association has concluded that since television was founded in the 1950's, the media has been a casual factor behind 10,000 homicides, 70,000 rapes, and 700,000 assaults annually. There is no excuse for this individually or nationally, and it must be brought to an end.
As Americans of this proud nation we cannot ignore these issues with a complacent attitude. Rather, we must make it a priority to renew national morality by petitioning the industry itself.
A masked gunman killed 12 people at a midnight showing of the Dark Knight Rises in Colorado early on Friday, sparking pandemonium when he hurled a gas canister into the auditorium and opened fire on moviegoers.
The PUT FOOD IN THE BUDGET CAMPAIGN represents 30 communities across Ontario that promote the implementation of a $100 Healthy Food Supplement for all adults on social assistance in Ontario. The Supplement will serve as a down payment in closing the monthly income gap.
10, 000 + Ontarians and 50 MPPs of all political parties have completed the 'Do the Math' Budget Survey which calculates the monthly living costs for a single individual. The average monthly cost arrived at was $1,350. The current poverty line for a single individual is approximately $1,600/month. An individual on social assistance receives $592 per month. Once rent is paid, there is little if anything left, forcing thousands of Ontarians to rely on already over burdened food banks.
The basic needs allowance is set far below actual market costs. This negligence has created a widespread food insecurity crisis and increase in chronic illness related to poor nutrition. These issues are a cost to society, where as putting money in the hands of low-income individuals will immediately benefit our communities ("How paying people’s way out of poverty can help us all" Globe & Mail)
The government has created its Social Assistance Review to evaluate the true cost of living in communities across Ontario and we are asking them to establish a new benchmark for income adequacy in setting benefit rates. In the meantime, individuals living in deep poverty cannot afford to wait any longer to have a place to live and enough money to purchase healthy food.
The PUT FOOD IN THE BUDGET CAMPAIGN is in partnership with Association of Local Public Health Agencies, Interfaith Social Assistance Reform Coalition (ISARC), and Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

The City of Aurora Parks Department created a track for Rc car hobbiest, located inside of the Wheel Park. Since it was created, there has been hundreds of people a year that comes and uses it.
There has been Hobby Specialty Shops created around this track. Since then no one has keep up with the maitnece of the track, the dirt is terrible, we have found everything from cement blocks, PCV piping 36 inches long, steel bars, and enough rocks to create another park.
People are breaking their expensive vehicils on these items, and the track is relatively small.
The students of central high school have caused problems with the neighbourhood in which we live in.
The students have been caught many times having sex in there vehicles. After they go to various local fast food resturants, they dump there trash on the curb. When the homeowners have special occasions where family come to group, there is no parking on the street to do so.
As a neighbourhood we demand that the city of Aurora put signs in place to restrict parking.
We want to keep Mr. Leduc as a teacher. He is not being asked back to the school next year.
