91. End the testing of cosmetic and personal care products on animals
The other animals humans eat, use in science, hunt, trap, and exploit in a variety of ways, have a life of their own that is of importance to them apart from their utility to us. They are not only in the world, they are aware of it. What happens to them matters to them. Each has a life that fares better or worse for the one whose life it is.
That life includes a variety of biological, individual, and social needs. The satisfaction of these needs is a source of pleasure, their frustration or abuse, a source of pain. In these fundamental ways, the nonhuman animals in labs and on farms, for example, are the same as human beings. And so it is that the ethics of our dealings with them, and with one another, must acknowledge the same fundamental moral principles.
At its deepest level, human ethics is based on the independent value of the individual: The moral worth of any one human being is not to be measured by how useful that person is in advancing the interest of other human beings. To treat human beings in ways that do not honor their independent value is to violate that most basic of human rights: the right of each person to be treated with respect.
The philosophy of animal rights demands only that logic be respected. For any argument that plausibly explains the independent value of human beings implies that other animals have this same value, and have it equally. And any argument that plausibly explains the right of humans to be treated with respect, also implies that these other animals have this same right, and have it equally, too.
It is true, therefore, that women do not exist to serve men, blacks to serve whites, the poor to serve the rich, or the weak to serve the strong. The philosophy of animal rights not only accepts these truths, it insists upon and justifies them.
But this philosophy goes further. By insisting upon and justifying the independent value and rights of other animals, it gives scientifically informed and morally impartial reasons for denying that these animals exist to serve us.
Once this truth is acknowledged, it is easy to understand why the philosophy of animal rights is uncompromising in its response to each and every injustice other animals are made to suffer.
It is not larger, cleaner cages that justice demands in the case of animals used in science, for example, not "more humane" testing, but the total eradication of these barbarous practices.
92. Enact the Protected Animal Law
Were you aware that pets are categorized as agriculture under U.S. law, and are treated legally as mere possessions? All anyone wishing to breed needs is to be registered with the USDA (Dept of Agriculture) and many are in violation of even that one law. And to make matters worse, Internet puppy mills are exempt from any registration requirement, whatsoever.
This petition is to enact a new Federal law by which companion animals would be protected. It is called the Protected Animal Law.
All domestic animals and those who are used for profit, and unnecessary, cruel testing would fall within the confines of this law. There would be strict guidelines as to what animals would apply.
Those for food would remain under the agriculture law. Those who are not would fall under the new Protected Animal Law.
There would be boards setting and maintaining strict standards by which breeders, animal testers, and personal guardians would be required to conform to. Specifically, the non-profit canine breed-specific clubs would be in charge of setting and maintaining guidelines that all dog breeders would be regulated by.
Animal testers would have their own regulations, which would be overseen by non-profit organizations such as In Defense of Animals and the American Humane Society.
Personal guardian guidelines would pertain to care-related issues that would also be overseen by non-profit organizations who devote their cause to improving the lives of animals.
With strict guidelines enforcing this new Protected Animal Law, abusive puppy mills would cease to exist, innocent animals would be protected like never before, and personal guardians would be held more accountable for the overall care of their pets.
When a parent travels with a new born baby they do not need to buy an additional seat. If the seat next to the parent is empty they can get it assigned to there baby and place the car seat in the actual airline seat and place their baby in the car seat. If the seat next to them is full then they have to check the car seat as luggage and keep the baby on their laps. Studies show that about 45% of all military families are opting to not have children.
I created this petition because I am a Military Wife that has a problem traveling due to the fact that my dog cannot travel in comfort like we do. For my dog to go home with me I have to pay a $75 travel fee and his travel Kennel must fit properly underneath my seat. If his travel Kennel does not fit underneath the seat we must check him and his travel Kennel like a piece of luggage.
Customers with miniature dogs can travel with their pets as a carry-on luggage. Let us allow all of our domestic animals to travel with us.
94. Drug companies must treat their horses kindly
20,000 mares per year are used to produce Premarin. A pill that helps women with hormone, which 11 million women took this drug.
The horses are used for their urine and suffer terribly due to craming in small cages which they cant even move in and tubes that collect the urine scraping their legs. They are given barely any water because it effects the urine. They dont recieve veterinary care nor barely any food, most mares are never removed form the stall and allowed to grave.
If the horses fail to become pregnant, they are sent to the slaughter house. Their foals are taken from them at the premature age of 3 to 4 months.
Naturally they resist separation from their babies so they are often whipped, kicked, or beaten with an electric prod until they give in. The foals are sometimes killed or be raised to be a "premarin mare". But most will be sold to feedlots to be fattened for slaughter anyway.
Health problems common to mares in premarin productions: dehydration, hoof injuries, leg injuries, sores, lacerations, swollen joints, edema, liver disorders, kidney disorders, premature death.
95. Companies should use only alternatives, not animal testing
Companies have been testing on animals for years and years to better their products.
Enough is enough! It's time to stand up and speak up for those who cannot and boycot and stop these companies from using poor animals to test on their products.
Companies have been breaking limbs, dropping chemicals into eyes, and other things for too long. Say no to these companies!!!
96. Discontinue the testing of cosmetics on animals for Procter & Gamble
WATCH THIS:
Procter & Gamble is a major corporation that owns many large companies,
including numerous cosmetic companies, some popular ones are Pantene
and Cover Girl.
Procter & Gamble allows animals to suffer unnecessarily in the production of
their cosmetic products, although no law states that animal testing is
mandatory.
There are much more efficient ways to test makeup products, for example,
growing human skin tissue, or using all natural ingredients.
Testing cosmetic products on animals is not only ineffective and inefficient
for
the companies, but it is harmful and tortuous for the animals.
97. Save The Belconnen Kangaroos!
In May 2007 the media exposed a covert plan by the Department of Defence and the
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Government to shoot to kill up to 3,200 Kangaroos at two Defence sites in the ACT.
The reasons given at the time: to ‘save’ the kangaroos from starving and to prevent them from competing with certain endangered grassland species reported to be on these sites: the golden sun moth, a legless lizard, and the earless dragon.
Around 500 of these kangaroos are trapped by a 2.5 metre high fence on a 116 hectare parcel of land at the former Belconnen Naval Transmission Station (BNTS). Of these, the plan was for 400 to be killed and have the remaining kangaroos forcefully sterilised. Somewhat extreme and barbaric measures to protect a moth, and unlikely to be the real reason why the ACT Government is so keen to clear this site, as the area around it is earmarked for housing development.
Following an immediate public outcry and subsequent consultations between Defence and a range of interest groups, Defence agreed to consult more widely. Members of Wildcare, a local volunteer wildlife rescue organisation with over 15 years of hands-on experience rescuing and rehabilitating kangaroos, submitted a proposal to Defence recommending a whole-of-ecosystem approach to the kangaroo issue. This preliminary proposal also detailed a workable strategy for the translocation of kangaroos.
Finally in September 2007, after consultations with Wildcare and a panel of experts, Defence announced that it would implement a kangaroo management plan in the ACT designed to promote sound ecological management and a responsible approach to animal welfare. The plan was to use a mix of translocation, fertility control and – only where necessary – euthanasia to bring the kangaroo population into balance with the ecosystem at the BNTS site. The contract to the successful to implement this strategy was awarded in early 2008.
Suddenly on 29 February, the ACT Government announced that it would block any application for a permit to allow the 'export' of kangaroos from the BNTS site. Not coincidentally, the ACT’s official kangaroo ‘culling season’ (killing season) recommenced the very next day.
This is EXTREMELY URGENT! Defence has gone back on their word, and tthe slaughter of these kangaroos on the site STARTED YESTERDAY (19 May 2008) and will continue over the next few days until they've killed more than 400.
These kangaroos are healthy and there is currently ample grass on the site following good rains over summer, and higher than average rain predicted over the coming months. There is absolutely no need for this slaughter to proceed. There are viable alternatives available, including translocation, but Defence has ruled this out as being too expensive. A number of suitable properties in NSW have been proposed to the contractor. The ACT Government’s decision to withhold these permits and mandate the killing of these kangaroos equates to brutal and unnecessary murder of Australia’s most important native species.
Photos of what is happening right now to these kangaroos can be viewed at www.kangaroolives.com and a video news report from yesterday's killing fields is can be viewed here.
Please help us send the ACT and Australian Federal Governments a clear message by signing this petition now! Let these kangaroos live!
98. Stop the cruel practice of Jallikattu
Jallikattu is an age old tradition carried out in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
This tradition involves letting loose agitated bulls into large crowds of men (always). The objective of the game is to tame the bull without using any weapons. Sometimes, more than one bull is loose at the same time. The village farmers take this game as a display of their masculine strength.
It takes place on the eve of Mattu Pongal which is one of the four days of the Pongal festival which generally happens in January (around the 15).
Although the bulls are not killed they undergo the trauma of being chased and jumped upon by mobs of men who try to bring them down. And if this isn't enough The bulls are agitated by putting lemon juice and chili powder into their eyes, being starved and also given alcohol. Many a time their tails are cut as well which enrages them even more. The bulls are raised solely for this event.
The Supreme Court of India banned the sport on January 12th 2008 but right before pongal they lifted the ban due to a delegation sent by the TN government to them. Many people also said they would observe this pongal as a 'black pongal' if the ban wasn't lifted.
99. Save the dogs & cats of Puerto Rico
Animals in Puerto Rico are treated horribly. There are strays running everywhere and "sweeps" are often done to get rid of the dogs.
Instead of being medically treated and rehomed, the dogs are euthanized. The lack of spay / neuter programs as well as minimal penalties for animal cruelty do nothing to help the situation.
These animals have no voice of their own and someone must speak for them, as the way they are treated is unacceptable.
100. Stop Animal Testing and Fight for Animal Rights
Animal Testing is wrong, we all know that for a fact.
If you continue to let this continue, we won't have any animals left for future generations! Isn't there a safer way to find out if products are harmful to people?
The thing is, they may not be harmful to us, but they are harmful to animals. They Just don't react the same way!!! Stop the madness...save the animals!!!
101. No to Animal Cruelty
I was searching online for pictures of dogs when I came across a picture of someone holding a gun to a dogs head and in the picture it quoted "if you don`t consent to search, we`ll kill this dog."
I felt outraged. This picture and many others like this is what makes people think animal cruelty is ok.
102. Overturn Breed Specific Legislation
I have started this petition in an attempt to have the Breed Specific Legislation overturned.
The BSL was introduced in 1991 banning 4 dogs from further importation:
Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff)
Dogo Argentino
Japanese Tosa
American Pit Bull Terrier or Pit Bull Terrier
A fifth dog the Presa Canario was added in 2005.
I am asking for your help in overturning the law, and preventing eventual extinction of these breeds in Australia.
103. Stop American horses being shipped across the border for slaughter
Who carried your mail? Who carried our soldiers through battle? Who pulled your carriage? Who plowed your fields? Who stayed with you through all the good and bad times? Who was and still is man's best friend? The HORSE!
But now that the age of automobile has arrived, horses are slaughtered. Thankfully, the government has closed down all the slaughter plants in the United States. But horses are still being sent over the border for slaughter in other countries.
Recordings have shown slaughter horses in Mexico being whipped and dragged across the floor. Another showed a horse being cut in the neck multiple times, then died by choking on it's own blood. And I haven't even started talking about how horrible the ride is for the horses and ponies.
Horses travel in double decker trucks for days on end without food or water. Bigger horses fall on smaller ones, and they often have many broken bones when arriving at the slaughter house. Some don't even survive the journey, and die on the way. Once arriving at the slaughter house, they are crammed into tiny pens with many other horses.
When it is time to meet their fate, the poor horse or pony is forced to the killing station. They are then shot several times in the head with a gun. Still often conscious, they are strung upside down and bled out. The head is cut off, and the legs after that. Pregnant mares have their stomaches cut open and the foal is thrown in the garbage! Stop this outrageous abuse of American horses today! Even young ones are slaughtered!
Think about it: Who wants to eat the meat of an old, sick horse? Any horse with meat in its bones is butchered. Put the horses back in the stable, and keep them off the table.
Stop the slaughter, end the pain, finish the abuse.
104. Bring Pitbulls back to Ontario
This petition is to bring pitbulls back to Ontario after being banned through Bill 132, the Public Safety Related to Dogs Statute Law Amendment Act March 1, 2005, that would amend the Dog Owners' Liability Act.
Pitbulls were officially banned on August 29, 2005.
105. End the Fur Trade
Animals are dying daily in appalling conditions due to the fur trade.
Animals are crammed in crates and thrown off trucks, often shattering all their limbs. The animals are then skinned alive and left for death.
This is a sickening trade and needs to be stopped!
106. Allow all breeds of Dogs and Cats in HDB flats
Due to new rule set down by AVA regarding dog-controlling and impose of higher penalty, more dogs have been forced to be given up and abandoned.
Thus in this petition we hope to gather enough signatures to request for a revise in the rules to allow more breeds of dogs allow in HDB flats so long they are well controlled.
107. More animal rights
If you beat a dog, does it not yelp? If you shoot a cat, does it not run? Animals have feelings too!
I know a website that has recorded many of the cases of animal abuse.
http://pet-abuse.com/
Too hunters, would you shoot you dog for sport? NO! Why not? Because you gave it a chance to find a way into your dark heart, give wildlife a chance, I love it because I'm growing up in it, take a vacation, to the the mountains, experience it, embrace it, and leave your guns and worries at home. People can live with peace with nature,or we could all die, and don't give me a dumb look and say "How,we humans are superior, we can survive! "We aren't superior, we are just spoiled! We don't need all of this! Sign my petition, and hope for a better world!
108. Animal testing is wrong! Stop it.
This website shows what products test on animals: http://www.thevegetariansite.com/ethics_test.htm So please sign this petition to bring down one of the millions.
They put the products you use on a daily basses on animals. They put your favorite eye shawdow or eyeliner on poor animals and they suffer alot more then you can imagen!
For the longest time McDonald's has been clear cutting (burning areas of forest for places to raise their cattle) rain forests everywhere.
They are causing animals to loose there homes and exposing them to the cruel "eat or be eaten" rainforest way of life. endangered species have gone to extinct because of this non-environmentaly friendly company McDonald's.
110. Stop the mass slaughtering of street dogs in Egypt
Update 6 November 2010: Massive killing is taking place all over Egypt, the GOVS take Minia Governorate as a successful example, the Governor of Menia killed all the dogs in Menia.
For all concerned about the current massacre of dogs in Egypt
Very clearly the GOVS (General Organization of Veterinary Services) will not stop this massacre all over Egypt unless the Animal Welfare Societies set an immediate meeting with the Chairperson of General Organization of Veterinary Services (GOVS)to discuss feasable solutions.
The GOVS proposes, 4 units to be allotted to the AW societies who wish to conduct TNR projects or relocate dogs in some areas where the GOVS received most complaints from some citizens. The GOVS states, they have little resources in terms of operations equipments, but they have those facilities, man power, and vets. Unless the AW societies make this step the massacre will continue. I make call to all AW societies, to be one hand in facing this massacre, I call AW societies to forget all the differences between them and unite for stopping the current and future massacre.

..................end of post Nov. 6, 2010
The Government in Egypt still insists on using strychnine poison to address stray dogs problems in Egypt.
Regardless of warnings of danger of using this poison on man and animals Gen. Vet Services insists. Whilst the Utility police force insist on shooting dogs regardless of the plea from Animal welfare groups and organizations in Egypt. The legislation, one was submitted by Animal Friends, but refused due to points which were found redundant, another legislation was proposed by OIE conference held in Cairo last month, God only knows if there is any hope in coming up with a legislation or applying the standards submitted by OIE.
-------------------------------------
Update September 2010
Mass shooting and poisoning is taking place in a big scale now, it seems that the excuse now is: a rabies infected dog has bitten a person, so, the Governors of various Governorates order mass shooting or mass poisoning.. without investigation.... this is done, healthy unhealthy animals, this is done, dangers of strychnine poison on environment, this is done... Pressure must be kept on. Each Sunday the petition updated would be emailed to the Governors, Cabinet of Ministers, Ministers involved. We will not give up.
Update April 20, 2009
First and second phase of Participatory Planning Project were successful, some differences is surfacing within Egyptian Federation members regarding the issue of the possibility of conducting euthanasia on healthy animals. Matters are halted as EFAW, Egyptian Federation members are split to two parties now because of euthanasia issue.
As for the legislation, no way to push the legislation which was conducted by AW societies, it is obvious and clear, the Ministry of Agriculture has to form committee to work on legislation, this committee would include animal welfare societies and not visa versa as was done before.
Massive shooting of dogs continues as police claims they receive complaints from citizens in the neighbourhood where stray dogs group.
-----------------------------------
Update Dec., 2008
WSPA had signed agreement with Egytian Federation to conduct Participatory Planning Project for the problem of stray dogs in Cairo. The workshops were conducted by the National Research Center of Egypt, attended by all stake holders, Govs., Vets, Animal Welfare Societies (not all), Representation from Ministry of Interior, Representation Ministry of Agriculture, families concerned, Central Zoos Representative, .. etc
Update Nov. 8, 2008
reports received of shooting stray dogs 8pm in Giza Square. AWAR group inquired from Utility police unit of Giza, yes they did as they received complaints from an individual stating that the dogs are attacking people, when confronting the police officer, he said they killed rabie infected dogs, who told you the dogs you killed had rabies, answer: they look so?!!
Update Nov. 7, 2008
Qena Governorate, Northern Aswan, Ahram newspaper reports that 2 wolves attacked two citizens in daylight? The wolves were slaughtered. I suspect the Governor of Qena in defense would order mass killing of dogs, the guards of the city. I suspect the eco system of Aswan, South of Qena was disturbed after the mass killing of 2300 dogs, thus wildlife, had to travel or exit the city of Aswan, it is known that wolves can travel 30 to 50 miles per day.
Update Nov. 5, 2008
Ahram Newspaper published:
Animal Welfare Organizations in Egypt, counts 9 in Egypt, condemned the killing of 2300 stray dogs in Aswan and Dina Zulfikar, coordinator of Animal Welfare Organizations in Egypt fears that ecological imbalance may occur as a result of extermination of stray dogs which are considered the first defense for cities against harmful animals which habitats in the mountains surrounding Aswan. With the illumination of those dogs these can enter the city and attack man and animal.
Dr. Wael Abd El Monem, environmental ecologist Cairo University supports this point of view and asks for adopting a study and description of this mammal, environmental description about the so called mammal named "Salawa", studying what made this mammal appear, why is it attacking people, adding that extermination of stray dogs would result in a generation of wild dogs which may defensively act against extermination.

Update Nov. 4, 2008
Two weeks ago the newspapers highlighted the incident of 2 persons
attacked by a mammal (dog species) in Aswan.
The Governor of Aswan formed a committee of:
Gen Vet Services Department
Health department
National Council for Women
headed by Dr. Omar Mohamadein
the mammal description: rare legs long, two canines showing off
clearly. Three of these mammals were shot, even though the Governor
ordered the 4 main units of Aswan to carry on shooting and poisoning
stray dogs. Already 1300 dogs were killed and the massacre is
continuing in Aswan. What is feared is that more Governors may
follow these same methods to avoid this mammal.
It is well known that stray dogs are the main defense of cities
especially if surrounded by desert, dogs prevents wild species from
entering cities, e.g. In Sirilanka when dog massacre was made
leopards entered the city and attacked people.
1200 dogs were killed
budget: 15000 Egyptian Pounds to buy poison of strychnine
25000 Egyptian pounds for shooting
Action taken:
Necessary contacts were made to alert the public, the Ahram
newspaper correspondence in Aswan will high light the issue
Contacts with Dr. Hoda Mustafa NATINAL COOUNCIL FOR WOMEN was made
to alert about the crises of echo system
contacts with conservation unit, Ministry of Environment were made.
Contacts with ecologists Faculty of Science Cairo University was made to provide complete documents to the authorities, Govs, newspaper and all media concerned parties
High alert as promised would be published by the Ahram newspaper.
Update July 29, 2008
Legislation has been submitted to Ministry of Agriculture but was refused claiming there was a redundancy. Another trial to submit legislation through Vetrinary College is currently underway.
AWAR group has scheduled regular awareness campaigns at Giza Zoo (50 to 90 thousand Egyptians visit the zoo during weekends). Regular awareness events are organized by AWAR in coalition of all AW organizations and groups are participating. Awareness to stop cruelty is our only mean now to stop the abuse.

Up date 13 June - Attempts to address the committees concerned in the parliament failed, as each claimed it was not the authorized (agriculture, health and environment, interior).
We addressed the MP of Qasr El Nil area, who promised to submit our demands to the Egyptian Parliament upon his return from a trip on the 19th. In parallel we are trying to contact the MP Essam Mokhtar of Heliopolis and Nasr City who has already raised a speed up manifesto to Ahmed Nazif the Cabinet Minister at the people's assembly Egyptian Parliament on 2 June 2007 condemning the cruel acts of shooting and poisoning street dogs. pls see: http://ikhwansharq.com/news.php?ID_a=1102
Up date 23 May - WSPA remains committed
Dear Dina
Re; Cairo Dog Control
Thank you for writing to us.
WSPA have been involved in trying to address the dog shooting and poisoning issue in Cairo for about ten years, much of that time in collaboration with your organisation SPARE.
Unfortunately success has been very limited, primarily due the complex and extensive nature of the problem. Initially WSPA coordinated a campaign encouraging an international audience, particularly past or potential tourists to Egypt, to petition the government to stop shooting and poisoning dogs, explaining that they found it despicable and would not come to Egypt if it did not cease. This worked to an extent as the risk of loosing tourist revenue prompted the government to open discussions with Animal Welfare groups one of which was WSPA.
The government then invited WSPA to show them how to tackle the problem in a humane way. Conferences & workshops were held to sensitise the authorities about the issues of dog control and to highlight to them the futility & inhumanity of mass extermination.
A pilot programme was then started in the Abissiya vet clinic in collaboration with the GOVS to prove to the authorities that the suggested alternatives worked. The pilot failed for a number of reasons, the most important being the lack of commitment and motivation on the part of GOVS. This however was not the sole reason. The fact remains that in order to achieve genuine dog control; a number of different interventions need to be carried out simultaneously.
In addition to mass sterilisation these should include; finding out where exactly the stray dogs are actually coming from and then trying to address the cause, solid waste management, education, improved legislation and better enforcement to ensure that it is maintained. This did not happen!
As you can see the investment needed to successfully control the Cairo dog issue is huge and unless the responsible authorities make a genuine effort to address it, it is impossible for any charitable organisation to tackle the issue unilaterally. It is therefore very important to try and get the government to buy-in to the concept and not just pay it lip service.
I won’t even try to explain to you as an Egyptian the size of this task but suffice to say that it will be a long hard road, one on which you have bravely take the first steps.
WSPA remains committed to reducing cruelty in every part of the world and considering our long history of involvement in Cairo we would undoubtedly step forward once more but this time we would only engage with the government if we believed the commitment from the authority was genuine.
I hope my sagacity does not deflate your noble efforts but rather clarifies where you need to focus and in particular gives you an idea of the key components of a holistic dog control programme as this is needed to make a long term impact on the issue.
With best regards
Nick

Up date 22 May - According to SPARE (sparealife.org) report by Mona Khalil: Poisoning dogs reported in Mohandessin area in Cairo May 21st. I was optimistic, but seems that the Egyptian President's statement published on the 18th May "the President called for applying humane international measures in dealing with stray animals instead of shooting and poisoning" was misunderstood!
On behalf of all animal lovers in the world I would like to show my gratitude and appreciation for all those who signed the petition and made our voices heard, without each and every one of you nothing could have happened. Together we are strong.
Friday 18 May - First step towards victory, thanks to all - we will continue our petition, this time to address the Egyptian Parliament.
Egyptian news paper The almasry-alyoum Egyptian newspaper published: Official sources in the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that the Egyptian President asked the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture to prepare a report about stray dogs in Egypt, and to open an investigation into reports published by various press and animal welfare organizations appalling the practice of shooting and poisoning.
The sources added that the President called for applying humane international measures in dealing with stray animals instead of shooting and poisoning which detracts from Egypt's status as a land of culture and center of tourism.
It is expected that the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture would issue strict instructions to the veterinary medicine department in govern orates in coordination with public utility police force to apply humane methods (vaccination) instead of shooting and poisoning.
In context the Animal welfare organizations in Egypt is considering a call for an urgent meeting tomorrow, Saturday to discuss the sequences of the use of inhumane methods which has been prohibited internationally, besides escalating the applaud and issuing a brief, pleading calling the Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak to issue an order to stop the shooting and poisoning of stray animals.
Bridget Bar dot had sent a fax to Egyptian President Hosny Mubarak to interfere in the mass slaughtering of Egyptian dogs and called the Egyptian government to use humane methods instead of shooting and poisoning.

Tuesday 15th May
Shooting continues in Mohandessin district of Cairo
SLAUGHTERING CONTINUES!!
Sunday 13th May, Slaughtering continues Andrea went down to feed the dogs as usual, as the past 10 months since she had been in Cairo, she found 2 of them dead beside each other, the other two were not in sight, on my way to her home after she called me in hysteria not believing this happened , I spotted the two, I went down and got one of them , I had the power and the determination to get her and I just carried her from the street unfortunately the other big one ran away, we tried to spot him again an hour later he showed up, it seems he was trying to look for his friends , he found them dead, he smelled them and stood there, I tried to catch it on camera but it was not good it was already dark and I hardly could get the other photos that I will send later, Andrea tried to call him but he just left immediately on the opposite way, and god knows where he will be or what will happen ,we will try to locate him but I do not know what will happen, while standing to take pictures another couple of foreigner passed by us and said this is the third time this week they see such a scene , dogs shot on the corners of streets.
Andrea is devastated, I do not know till when I will be able to hold on, they killed the kindest two of them, the one I caught is also very kind but rather new than the other ones. they were killed in the morning according to porters in the area, they were already blowing and smelly when I got there to take pictures For those of you who do not know who is Andrea, she is the famous American/ gernan woman who adopted our big boy lord, and wrote Lord tales when she adopted him, she is also dog trainer and has been helping us for a while now, she also did our spare leaflet and was working on another for the massacre that happened at Haram area two days ago when this was happening to her dogs , it is even astonishing as it is known that no shooting is allowed in residential areas where foreigners specially Americans are living.
The madness is going on and will not stop ,sine once again we called the municipality and comaplained trying to know whose orders was it this time and the reply came that we should not bother calling ,they will continue to shoot and consider it their mission. witnessed by: Mona Khalil
On Friday 11th May, This female pregnant bitch was shot today at 1,15 in the afternoon in " Sahl Hamza " street , in Pyramids road , 15 minutes aftter being shot she was still alive and was shaking , the witnesses tried to help but it was too late. Only one bullet to kill each dog , this mother was shot in her belly ,we have the pictures ..look at the pictures. This is how we reduce dog's population in Egypt.
An alternate solution has been handed to the Egyptian Government, without baring any costs.. yet the offer was denied.
We the animal lovers together with SOCIETY FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS PROTECTION IN EGYPT registered as a charitable organization with the Egyptian Ministry of Social Affairs Registration No. 1615 (2001) believe that Killing street dogs and cats is inhumane and does not go well with our cultural ethos of love and compassion for animals.

112. Legalize ferrets in Hawaii!
"A number of states classified ferrets as wild animals and banned them as pets before they become popular as companion animals in the United States. As ferrets grew in popularity, these bans were overturned in quick succession. At this point, California and Hawaii remain the only two states to prohibit ferrets. There has been no effort to legalize them in Hawaii, whereas the struggle in California has been ongoing for fifteen years.
The stated objection given by ferret opponents in California is that ferrets could start breeding in the wild and pose a threat to agriculture and native species. Since ferrets in the U.S. are exclusively indoor pets, are almost always spayed and neutered, do not survive on their own for more than a few days, and have absolutely no history of breeding on their own anywhere in the country, we are not sure where these fears are coming from. Although the true motivation for opposing ferrets remains a mystery to us, we hope that the injustice will soon be rectified, either by the legislature or through a state-wide ballot initiative."

Ferrets are commonly believed to be wild, vicious animals that will hunt and kill prey if let loose. This is false...misinformation pure and simple. Ferrets have been domesticated for thousands of years; possibly even longer then the common house cat! Domestic ferrets are significantly different from their wild counterparts having poor vision, skeletal differences, size differences, and reproductive difficulties! They are not hunters! There are only 65 reports of ferrets causing real harm per year (bites, scratches, etc.) out of the 8-10 MILLION ferrets in the U.S. alone! Even attacks per capita leave ferret attacks at a ratio of 1:250 at the MOST conservative and unrealistically low standards. In a more realistic light you are almost 5,000 times more likely to be bitten by a dog than a ferret! For more information about ferrets and the rumors surrounding them click on one of the following links:

Ferrets are officially domestic animals and are statistically much less dangerous then dogs or cats. If you're still not convinced then send me a message and let me know why ferrets SHOULD be illegal!!
113. End Whaling Now
Every year, the Japanese government plans to hunt thousands of whales, driving them to near extinction. They practise barbaric ways of whaling, using grenade tipped harpoons which bury themselves in these innocent creatures, drag the thrashing whale from the water onto the wahling ship, where they are to be cut up for meat in restaurants.
114. End The Slaughter Of Dolphins in Japan
Every winter, dolphins are slaughtered in their thousands in small cities across Japan.
The dolphins are rounded up, confined within nets, and once disorientated, they panic.
Mothers and babies cry out to each other in distress as they are separated, hoisted up and dragged off, soon to be mercilessely hacked to death.
115. Replace Animal Experiments at Sussex Uni
The University of Sussex, Brighton (UK) have bee exposed carrying out painful, barbaric and unnecessary tests on animals. Despite denying any involvement in animal testing, their own research papers tell an entirely different story.
Experiments have involved heart procedures on rabbits, making rats addicted to alcohol and electrocuting them, injecting baby mice with stress-inducing substances and snapping their necks, capturing voles from the wild and using them in experiments, drilling holes in the ears of guinea pigs, and links to primate research.
The University is continuing to deny these facts and are flatly refusing co-operating with our requests for transparency in their research and a critical examination into the reliability and true necessity of the tests, with consideration to one of the hundreds of alternative non-animal methods.
As many as 115 million animals are experimented on and killed in laboratories in the U.S. every year.
Types of experiments tested on animals include:
-Pure research
-Apllied research
-Toxicology
-Drug testing
-Cosmetic testing
-and much more
Nobel prizes have been won for animal research, including develpment of
-penicillin (mice)
-organ transplant (dogs)
-poliomyelitis (mice, monkeys)
Most animal testing is cruel, unreliable, agonizing and pointless.
117. For horses' rights
Horses are being tortured their whole lives just for urine to use in the drug Premarine.
Horses are kept in captivation their entire lives, without enough water, left hungry and they are neglected.
Their foals are taken away when they are only 3 months old and are taken to slaughter houses to be brutally murdered.
STOP THE ABUSE!!!!
118. Eliminate the Performance Tennessee Walking Horse from the Arizona Saddlebred Futurity
The Tennessee Walking Horse is know for its high-stepping gait in the show ring. The horses that perform these gaits are called "Performance" or "Big Lick" horses. They wear tall, heavy shoes on their front feet coupled with chains around their pasterns to exaggerate the natural gait of the breed for show purposes.
However, it is well know that these horses are also abused in order to create this gait, a process called "soring." Soring is an illegal practice per the Horse Protection Act (HPA) federal law that is still being used on a regular basis to achieve the desired action for the show ring. This has been proven by recent statistics from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), in charge of enforcing the HPA, this year’s cancellation of the final World Grand Championship class at the annual National Walking Horse Celebration due to five horses being disqualified per the HPA definitions, and eye-witness testimonials. The USDA even openly acknowledged at the June 13-14, 2006 Horse Industry Organization (HIO) meeting that “the industry needs to acknowledge that soring still exists and make a sincere effort to stop it.”
As quoted from the Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service (APHIS) of the USDA fact sheet on their website at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ac/hpainfo.html: “Soring is a cruel and abusive practice used to accentuate a horse’s gait. It may be accomplished by irritating or blistering a horse’s forelegs through the injection or application of chemicals or mechanical irritants. Sored horses sometimes develop permanent scars in the pastern area due to the use of these painful chemicals. The accentuated gait may also be accomplished using inhumane hoof trimming or pressure-shoeing techniques. When it walks, a sored horse responds by quickly lifting its front legs to relieve the pain.”
I would like to make the rights of animals so aware that the government of any country would finally see how important and influential the lives of the animals in the community are to the world.
Animals cannot defend themselves. They do not have a choice in whether or not they live or die. Just because humans may be bigger and more in control, doesn't mean we have to treat them so poorly and hurt them and abuse them! Animals have always been fair and loving companions to the human race and this is how we thank them.

Drop off cages. Drop off cages where we put animals to die. Whatever did they do to deserve this kind of treatment? Sure, I will say that sometimes animals need to be taken care of for threatening or hurting a few people, but that's no excuse. These animals thrown into these cages and boxes are abused and literally tortured until they die. They aren't given any food, water, or love of any kind. How would you like it if someone did this to you?
Dolphin slaughtering. I have always had a love for the ocean animals ever since I was a little kid, and it hasn't change in the least to this day. I've only grown even more concerned for their safety and lives. Dolphins are being senselessly killed for various disgusting and inhumane reasons. They are so intelligent! Why kill them? I don't understand. Dolphins have never harmed the human race, only helped. I know all of you have heard of the many many cases of people lost at sea. Who was it that saved them? Huh? Who? That's right. Dolphins stuck around until help came for the human lost. They even protect humans from sharks when necessary. And we kill them.

The tigers! The tigers have been shrunk in numbers by thousands! And it's so obviously true! And yet, we do nothing. Tigers are so beautiful, so unique. They are being killed for "Medical Reasons", whatever the hell gave them the idea that killing to better humans is a good thing? It isn't even helping the humans! What on earth is going on? Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the world?
There are so many other issues that affect the world. How could no one see that whatever we do in the world, affects the entire world as a whole? Whatever we do to the animals and the environment, only bounces back to smack us in the face.
I'm sorry if I've wasted your time by reading this, but I feel it's an issue that's very important and needs some attention. You have no idea how happy it would make me if you all signed this. I would be extatic if one person signed one petition! Copy and paste it into another bulletin! Do something! Everyone needs to be aware of all this and more!
Thank you for listening!

I want to help all animals in need.
