1. Support Childhood sexual abuse victims: Amend the Limitations Act 1969

Limitations Act 1969 18A Personal injury
An action on a cause of action to which this section applies is not maintainable if brought after the expiration of a limitation period of 3 years running from the date on which the cause of action first accrues to the plaintiff or to a person through whom the plaintiff claims.

Childhood sexual abuse

For victims of childhood sexual abuse their life is irrevocably changed forever, for some; they will live their entire lives without disclosing to anyone, others will find the strength and courage to disclose to someone at some point in their lives.

Statistics and Figures

It is commonly accepted that:
•1 in 6 boys is sexually abused before the age of 18.
•1 in 4 girls is sexually abused before the age of 18.
•This is equivalent to 332,516 Queensland men having experienced child sexual abuse.
•Over 30% of confirmed reports of child sexual abuse involve male victims.
•Between 70-90% of men who have experienced child sexual abuse haven’t told anyone!
•In on study of 40 boys who experienced child sexual abuse and attended an adolescent medical facility, none had ever told their primary care giver.
•Men are one and a half times less likely than women to report rape to police. This makes for an extremely small figure, given that only between 5–10% of women report rape to police.
•There appear to be some particularly powerful forces preventing adult men from telling. From their experience of men's groups, counsellors say that many men do not disclose until they are in their thirties and some never disclose.

Some personal prospective?

I was sexually abused as a child, the perpetrator was a scout leader, I never told anyone about it until I was 21 at which point I told my parents that I had been abused but no more details as I was unable to deal with it. At the age of 36 I realized that I needed to do something about it because it was destroying my life. I went to the police and for the first time ever I told the detective in great detail what had happened to me. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

During the course of the investigation it was revealed that the scout association not only knew who this person was and what he had done but failed to report it to the authorities. One report from the scouts advised that the boys were told to “remember their scout’s code of honour and never talk about it again”. As I told my parents at age 21 I was unable to legally hold the scouts accountable becuase I disclosed at 21. The following links shows that this organisation has done this more than once.

What do we want?

We request that the limitations act 1969 section 18a be amended to allow for victims of childhood sexual abuse the time required reporting the crime and seeking compensation from the organisations’ that cover up or hide perpetrators to protect their organisations’ name.

2. Boycott Lady GaGa and all artists who exploit animals

Several photos of Lady Ga Ga wearing wolf fur and other fur products have been released to the public and Lady Ga Ga herself shows no remorse for these poor animals, even though in a previous interview on the Ellen Degeneres show she stated that she would never wear fur. This irresponsible, heartless act will not be tolerated.

She claims to be the voice of the bullied. We are speaking for all those who can not speak for themselves; abused, tortured and exploited animals everywhere.

We may not change her beliefs, but we can show Lady Ga Ga and Interscope Records that acts like these can have monetary consequences.

3. Put A Stop To Animal Abuse

Everyday, there are animals out there being abused, neglected, and tortured. People are skinning animals alive just for their fur. I am here to say that it needs to come to an end. Animals should be loved and cherished, not abused and tortured.

These creatures are so helpless and innocent to the abuse to endure each day. They can't say "stop", because they don't have a voice. But together, we can be their voice.

5. Protection of the community from child sex offenders

May 26, 2006

This Petition will be mailed to All Australian Members of the Senate in Parliament.

Child abuse is way out of control and it is time to turn the light on these sex offenders who have been getting away with the most Unacceptable... Who have been interfering with the rights of others, who have denied and exploited their responsibility as role-model and guardian.

We must All make ourselves accountable… it is time to face this front on, together!

What's needed is Prevention and Zero tolerance!!!

What's needed is Greater public awareness through Education!

CONSIDER THIS: The word Victim should not be used. We do not want to encourage victimhood; 'Fear' This word implies one person is victorious over the other who is helpless, this word gives power away. The word predator should not be used...it promotes domninace to one side and instills fear and helplessness to the other side. Instead the abuser should be understood through description... as very sick, deeply immoral, deeply selfish, out of control, deficient in remorse therefore completely untrustworthy, sly, manipulative, unpredictable, harmful, violent... this would help avoid manipulation.

We can no longer function from fear...and we can no longer remain ignorant as ignorance is the greatest breeder of fear.

We are no longer victims when the so called predator sees we are the ones watching them...When what we say and what is done speaks the message that abusive behavior will not be tolerated the dominator will loose his power.

8. Stop abuse against the elderly in the UK

This Petition is for us all.
I used to work in a Nursing Home, in Mid Wales, and became a Whistle Blower. Because i saw abuse towards the elderly, ie..from been hit, forced in the bath, shouted at, been tied down, and the list goes on.

Now i want to bring Civil Action against this home. Since 13 ex members of staff have come forward, who also seen abuse.

I have been to my Local Goverment office, Social Services, Police, The Care Standarts Comission, And i was told there is a Network in this town i should not upset. "MASONS" I BELIEVE. So now i need the Public's help to get this case heard.

The Fact is 500.000 elderly get abused in the UK each year. You have organisations like the RSPCA, NSPCA,but you have nothing for the elderly to be protected.
Ohh do not get me wrong you have got organisations, but i have tried them all.And all of them cover there ears and do not want too know.
Since every citizen is duty bound to report crime, and if it is ignored by the Police and Public Servant.Us the Citizen's must use they Rights, EXPOSE THE OFFENDERS WHO ACT IN THE CONTEMT OF THE LAW.

We all have to stop putting our heads in the sand. Because one day we will be old. And ask yourself you want to be abused?? The System does not work and the law needs to be changed.

9. Help support women's rights in Jordan

This petition was started by teenagers in Ontario. They had been given an assignment to study women's rights in the world and were disgusted by their findings. They feel that it is Canada's role as a leading nation to show that it really cares about these situations.

Todays's society is too enravelled with their own affairs and we believe that it is time for change. Hopefully with this petition, it will further interest citizens of Canada to look into this issue, and see for themeselves the terrible situation that is and has been occuring in the third world for many years. There were no girls in the group that started this petition, so it is not an act of feminism.

In Jordan about half of the population of the Jordanian woman there are being abused. No matter where these woman turn they are most likely to get sexually, verbally or physically abused.

Average monthly income for males in both the public and private sectors is much higher than that of females, while the unemployment rate among men is 14%, compared to 22% among women.

10. Prosecute for Frauduent Child Abuse Reports

There are too many false reports made regarding child abuse that sometimes certain individuals fall through the cracks of the system. Some people report suspected child abuse to be spiteful and vengeful towards the parent, guardian and caretaker of a child. This causes a buildup of caseloads that child protection services have to investigate, which results in time wasted if the reports are not true. People should be held accountable for their actions and statements, and if they are willing to go as far as to report suspected abuse, then they should willing to back it up if necessary and not hide behind the cloak of anonymity.

If reporters were to be held accountable for their statements and actions and required to give their identity to only the child abuse agencies dealing with the reports, I believe there would be a decrease in the amount of false reports made. If there was a penalty to face for reporting false child abuse allegations then people with vendettas would be discouraged to abuse the system that was designed and set up to protect the abused.

Around 70 women in Canada die each year at the hands of their male partner.
