To Whom It May Concern:
We are writing in the interest of developing a dance minor at Northern Michigan University. NMU is a very diverse school with many wonderful majors and minors for students to choose from, but something is missing –dance.

NMU has a great arts program including music, art & design, and an incredible theatre program. We’d like to see NMU expand as an arts school. Dance isn’t just for artists, either. It can be incorporated into many things such as sports programs, Education (very important for educators to have an understanding of movement and body control), etc. Dance is beneficial not just to the body but to the mind. It teaches discipline and control, making you think during physical movement and improving your health. Look at the clubs on campus that are very active, you’ll see many dealing with dance already.

We believe bringing dance to Northern Michigan University would bring in more students, and help enrich the education of those already attending.

Please, bring a dance minor to NMU!
