For many years Westgarth Theatre in Melbourne has had a horror movie marathon for 24 hours on a July weekend. It usually started 8am on a Saturday and ended the next morning around eight. With a break in the evening for a break and dinner, you see 14 movies from past and present.

There was the choice of getting a ticket for one movie, two, three up to five, then there was the six plus tickets. All which included breakfast, coffee and juice around half an hour before the first movie commenced.

Year after year the theatre would be packed with horror movie fans that were local to the area to those who had to travel for the fun experience. There were new faces, and then there were the regulars who would return each year. However the last movie marathon (which strangely enough was a combination horror and sci-fi) was in 2004.

It is sorely missed by many horror fans and movie goers, and it's about time it was revived!

We, the horror fans and movie goers alike, would love to see Palace bring back Westgarth Theatre's 24 hour horror fest.

It was a fun and unique event that happened only at that cinema and many horror fans are missing watching new and classic movies. There were people who came solo and then there were small groups that went together, young and old!
