Fair Haven NY is a small community that sits on the shore of Beautiful Lake Ontario and Little Sodus Bay. The East side of the bay is close to the downtown, the West side of the bay and businesses are connected by West Bay Road. This road is dangerous with many cars using it at peak season, we are petitioning for a walking and bicycling path to connect us to town.
We the undersigned are calling upon NY State,Town of Sterling, and the Village of Fair Haven to work together to build a walking and bicycle path from 104 A where the sidewalk ends down West Bay Road to the West Barrier Bar. West Bay Road is one of the most well used roads in Fair Haven. This 3 mile stretch of road serves: 300 cottages, a number of small businesses.
Cycling and walking are becoming attractive choices for everyone, leading to significantly improved fitness and reduced greenhouse gas emissions and pollution. Right now walking or cycling from West Bay Road into town is prohibitive due to high traffic and the poor condition of the road.
We the people of the community ask that the municipalities work together and come up with a plan to ensure safety of the pedestrians and cyclists and our connection with the village of Fair Haven.
