A girl was killed by a hit and run driver at 2 am on a Saturday. She was walking home and hit by a drunk driver while crossing the street.
There have been other incidents of people being assaulted while traveling back by foot from parties late at night.
Dean of students,
We the undersigned are petitioning because we feel after Saturday morning’s incident, late night transportation on and around campus is imperative.
We are not looking to place blame for the events that occurred on Saturday however it clear that this incident could have been prevented had transportation been available.
We are suggesting that a service similar to Guard Dogs be implemented and run by the university. With such a large student body, multiple buses are necessary to ensure that students arrive home safely.
