Thank you to everyone who signed and supported this campaign and cause. The petition was one of the things that helped us achieve our goal and we thank every single of one you who signed it! Coach Gorball is back and is now the head coach of the Varsity Girls' Basketball Team once again, and it was all because of you! Thank you for your support, we really appreciate it.
Coach Gorball has been working at Arroyo for 30 years, and has been the head coach of the varsity girls’ basketball team for 21 seasons. He’s made a major impact on each individual player by showing his sense of care and love for his job.
He’s been showing numerous amounts of dedication and hard work in developing a team each year to represent Arroyo High School at its best. He helps build self-confidence, encouragement, and support for his team, and is definitely accountable at ALL times! His mission and goal is to see each of his players succeed in all aspects of life. He challenges a player to work at the potential he knows they possess and motivates the individual to realize these talents on and off the court.
Without Coach Mike Gorball, the Arroyo Girls’ Basketball program will be deprived of a man who has directly affected countless people in only positive ways throughout his career. Due to Coach Gorball’s release, his team now is left in jeopardy.
The principal of Arroyo High School, Mr Cisneros believes that coaching positions should be held by certified teachers of the school rather than the actual coaches. His decision lacks common sense and deals great injustice to the Varsity Coaches who are not teachers of the facility. Mr. Cisneros decision to terminate Coach Gorball in the midst of the girls’ season and more importantly, a week before Arroyo hosts and participates in the SCIBCA tournament. There is currently no replacement coach. No teacher has stepped into the position to lead our team during the summer season and now the future of the regular season is also uncertain.
The Students, Parents and alumni of Arroyo High School believe the reasons for Coach Gorball’s release are unfair, and we demand a reevaluation on this case. Students of Arroyo High School deserve better, we deserve Gorball!
