We Demand Service Delivery In Bulawayo City

Service delivery in the City of Bulawayo has become none- existent. The City of Bulawayo once the cleanest City in the country, has become very dirty in both the suburbs and the CBD. The roads in Bulawayo are ridden with potholes, in the high density suburbs tarred roads are now none existent.

The water woes in Bulawayo continue with some neighbourhoods having water disconnected for as long as 5 days. The residents of the over decade old Cowdry Park continue to rely on communal taps instead of individual taps in each house.

In the midst of all this suffering in a City where industries have closed down and employment opportunities are a thing of the past, the uncaring council is calling for the installation of prepaid water meters. How are the residents going to afford this?

Together:

1. We demand that the City Council stops water disconnections immediately.

2. We demand that the City Council authorities stop attaching and selling residents’ property where residents are unable to pay their water bills.

3. We further demand that the Bulawayo City Council drops the intended programme of installing prepaid water meters.

4. We demand that the Bulawayo City Council carries out an extensive roads rehabilitation drive particularly in the High Density suburbs where the majority of the people reside.

5. We demand that the Bulawayo City Council prioritizes Health Delivery and refurbishes the Council Clinics which most people rely on in cases of sickness.

6. We demand construction of working centres for vendors in the City and that they are able to trade without hindrance and or harassment.

7. We demand weekly collection of refuse in every suburb.

8. We demand that the Harare City Council puts its residents first.

If Martin Moyo and IgnatiousChombo cannot deliver the above demands they should both deliver their resignation letters.
