If Vancouver Island University were to subscribe to the U-Pass BC Program it would provide lower-cost travel for students.
The U-Pass program would encourage students to make transit part of their lifestyle by including travel with the U-Pass BC card for entertainment, recreation and other non-school related trips. Reduce single occupancy vehicles, traffic congestion, and greenhouse gases.
It would also increase the availability of parking at Vancouver Island University for students and teachers who either carpool or drive long distances to VIU.
The U-Pass program provides students with a low cost transit fare and a level of transit service that meets this demand - not to mention the U-Pass program gives students access to bus, SeaBus and SkyTrain services within Metro Vancouver, as well as discounts on West Coast Express.
We, the undersigned, call on the Vancouver Island Student Union to hold a referendum to subscribe to the BC U-Pass program.
