"THE SOUL MAN" is a new TV Land sitcom television series that revolves around R&B superstar-turned-minister Reverend Boyce "The Voice" Ballentine, who was living the high life in Las Vegas at the top of the music charts when he gets the calling to go from soul singer to soul saver. Relocating to St. Louis with his wife, Lolli and his daughter, Lyric, to take over the preaching duties in his father's church, his family is not exactly eager to give up the fabulous superstar life for a humble one.
This program ridicules and mocks the Christian faith. For example, showing the first lady (Niecy Nash) with unnecessary cleavage out. It shows the pastor (Cedric, the Entertainer) rubbing his hands together, saying he's going to Las Vegas, the city of sin. Taking a stand against such buffoonery protects the dignity of all men and women, of all Faiths.
On Wednesday, June 20th, TV Land Television launched a new sitcom called "THE SOUL MAN". The television show represents our Christian pastors and First Ladies very negatively. TV Land Television claims that "THE SOUL MAN" is telling a very different message, but it is very false.
We are aware of the fact that there are Christians and non-Christians who lack maturity and discretion. But representing us as hustlers and prostitutes is inexcusable. We are demanding that TV Land Television cancel "THE SOUL MAN".
We encourage you to also discontinue supporting the sponsors of "THE SOUL MAN." They include M & M’s (Mars, Inc.), Red Lobster, Dairy Queen, Big Lots, Inc., and Geico; however, they have pulled their ads from the Christian-bashing NBC program. Their ads were not present in the most recent episode(s). Although these giants are big, but God is bigger. Please sign this petition and pass it on.
