FM radio reception of 104.1 Territory FM can not be generally recieved in acceptable quality in the Palmerston area of Darwin.
The station is seeking Palmerston community support to have the Palmerston area included in its broadcast license area.
Currently 104.1 Territory FM can only be received on the FM band in parts of the City of Palmerston through what is described as fortuitous reception. For transmission reception quality to be improved the license of 8TFM (104.1 Territory FM) may need to be varied.
When Territory FM’s license was issued Palmerston did not exist and consequently was not included.
By signing this petition you are assisting 104.1 Territory FM (8TFM) in the preparation of a detailed submission to the Australian Media Communications Authority requesting an altering or increasing of the size of the stations existing broadcasting service is through a variation to the relevant LAP.
An LAP variation is a process involving wide public consultation and provides a forum for ACMA to consider the best use of channels in a licence area and neighbouring licence areas. This is a wide public consultation process under the provisions of Part 3 of the Broadcasting Services Act 1992. Sections 26 and 27 are the relevant sections.
