We, the undersigned, hereby affirm our endorsement of and interest in the following proposal:
To create a living lab/green hub on a portion of the Guelph Correctional Centre land where people, groups and businesses will come together to develop and promote resilient and sustainable innovations related to energy use and conservation, water use and protection, local food production, active and sustainable transportation and waste management.
We, the undersigned, petition the Legislative Assembly’s support for the above proposal and for the following goals:
1. To secure designation of 36 acres to support diverse urban agriculture opportunities and initiatives.
2. To secure designation of the superintendent’s house and the gate house to be used as demonstration and education/activity centres relating to local food, energy, water, waste and active transportation.
3. To secure designation of the administration building as a provincial exposition site for best practices of environmental innovators, related businesses, NGOs, outdoor and historical educators to further stimulate food security, job creation and prosperity, and environmental stewardship in the province of Ontario.
