A petition in support of Rebecca Harris, a Canadian citizen and Duncan community resident who is trying to Sponsor her Husband Mgonea Luhui, a Tanzanian citizen under the Family Class for a Permanent Visa.

Rebecca is a long time Cowichan Valley resident on Vancouver Island who was born and raised here. She also worked here as a Teacher and Teacher On Call after getting her Bachelors of Education in 2005. She also worked in Saanich and on Salt Spring Island as a Teacher and Teacher On Call. Rebecca has no loans and has a good credit history. She is not owing money to anyone, organization or government agency.

In 2010 she went to Tanzania to teach and there she met and fell in love with her now Husband Mgonea Luhui. She and her husband got married in July 2013 in Tanzania and are expecting their first child any day now.

Rebecca discovered she was pregnant and returned to Duncan, BC in January as she needed to be monitored closely for her pregnancy as she is a Type 1 Diabetic. She needs to stay here in BC for ideally the first year of the babies life if not longer.

Once Rebecca returned to Duncan, BC from Africa she hoped to find work teaching but unfortunately she was unable to secure employment once she got back. She was limited in time and where she could be as she needed to be close to the doctors she knew and have the support of her family and friends during her pregnancy.

However, she has always been financially independent and has savings that she is prepared to use. Also her family and friends are willing to support her financially should it be necessary if her and her babies health may prevent her from working.

Rebecca has secured some employment for September Teaching On Call and is prepared to work while taking care of her new baby. She is currently looking for more permanent work as well. Her husband is also planning to work once he is here.

We believe Rebecca will be able to financially support herself, the baby and her Husband and that by allowing her Husband here will not put a financial strain on the Canadian system. Emotionally, physically and socially Rebecca needs her Husband here and also if he is able to work as well that will help them as well.

We hope that Rebecca and her Husband can be together in Canada for the first year if not longer of their babies life.We are hoping you will re look at her eligibility to sponsor her Husband for a Permanent Resident Visa and will take her circumstances of needing to return to Canada for her pregnancy into consideration.

Please share this story with your friends and family.

We are signing this petition in support of Rebecca Harris, a Canadian citizen and Duncan community resident who is trying to sponsor her Husband Mgonea Luhui, a Tanzanian citizen under the Family Class for a Permanent Resident Visa.

Rebecca returned to Canada from Tanzania for her pregnancy, delivery & post baby care as she is a Type 1 Diabetic which is considered a high-risk pregnancy who needs to be closely monitored. It is critical that she have the support of her husband during this time and that they both be here in Canada for the first year or longer of the babies life.

We hope that her circumstances will allow you to relook at her eligibility to sponsor her Husband to come on a Permanent Resident Visa. We hope that you will allow her to sponsor him and for him to get his Permanent Resident Visa in the shortest amount of time as possible.
