Approximately 7.6 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year. Approximately 2.7 million are put to death. - ASPCA
Facebook has approximately 1.49 billion active users. According to Huffington Post, 10% of those are "pet pages."
"Organic reach" of Facebook posts has declined from 16% to 2% in the last two years.
Such a decline of seen posts will undoubtedly lead to fewer donations to non-profit pages dedicated to the health and welfare of companion animals.
A $5 charge to boost the reach of one post is the equivalent of feeding a small companion animal for a week. Limiting the reach of non-profits and private pet pages that share information about animals in need could mean the difference of life of death for some of these animals.
We, the undersigned, are asking Facebook to restore the old logarithm and allow maximum reach for its users.
