Support Lidl in Berkhamsted

Lidl have acquired the Davis and Samson Demolition Contractors and the Roy Chapman Ltd premises on Gossoms End, Berkhamsted.

We will shortly be submitting a planning application for a discount food store with 30 residential apartments located across two additional floors above the food store. 10 of the proposed residential units will be allocated as 'affordable properties'.

The food store will have a sales area of 1200 sqm and approximately 68 car parking spaces. There will also be 40 car parking spaces for residents and visitors of the proposed residential units, a proportion of these will be located beneath the sales area of the food store.

The site has been in operation as a demolition contractors yard and a car showroom for several years. We are proposing to contribute to a multi-million pound redevelopment of the entire site to provide the new food store and residential units.

The design of the store building will be in keeping with the surrounding area. The food store and residential properties will be built from a suitable brick material, glazing and timber cladding. We will be increasing the amount of soft landscaping bordering the site which will help to increase the aesthetic appeal of the area.

As the first and only discount food store in the town, Lidl will bring more shopping choice to the local people. We will also be providing approximately 40 new jobs for local people.
