The HYPE Recreation Center is federally registered 501c3 charitable non profit organization. HYPE (Helping Youth Progress & Excel) was created in 2001 and has served over 95,000 youth and families since.
Our services include, Health Education, Tutoring, Mentoring, Substance Abuse Education, Life Skills, Counseling, Athletics, Career & Leadership Education, Gen-Next. The City of Dearborn Heights is challenging our charitable status and is assessing us for property taxes.
These property taxes will force HYPE to make drastic changes to the operation of services, which are free today. We're and always have been a charitable institution.
