Dr. Deirdre Atlas is a physician with Avow Hospice. She currently cares for both facility and homecare patients and is on a rotating schedule at Hospice House Georgeson. Her professionalism and compassion is respected by all employees especially the clinical staff she works directly with.
Dr. Atlas' position was eliminated when a reduction in force occurred in 2005 but was later asked to return. Since then Dr. Atlas has been outstanding to work with and dedicated more than ever to the Avow Hospice mission.
However, once again Dr. Deirdre Atlas has been advised that her position will again be eliminated as of 12/31/2008. It is unacceptable to allow contract physicians to remain on staff in place of someone who is so very committed.
We, the employees of Avow Hospice, call on the Avow Hospice Executive Team and Board of Directors to withdraw the reduction of Dr. Deirdre Atlas and her position effective immediately.
We feel that the decision to dismiss her is not in the best interest of Avow Hospice or our patients. The employees of Avow Hospice support and stand behind her.
