Burlington Ontario is home to hundreds of people with dogs. Unfortunately even with 4 parks in the Longmoor Area, there is no legal off leash area for dogs.

People use Longmoor Park and a baseball diamond (D3) in Nelson Park in hopes of not getting caught. Oakville Ontario has a great off leash area in Shell Park for dogs but this is not accessible for Burlington residents unless they live close to the border of the two cities or they have a car.

Dogs are part of the community and walking your dog instead of driving it to a park is better for the environment and better for one's health. Dogs should be able to play and socialize safely and this is part of being a responsible dog owner.

Nelson Park has at least 2 areas that are not used for sports and one area has a fence already all along one side that could be designated as on off leash area.

Please sign and share this petition so it can be presented to Burlington City Council.

The dogs of Burlington thank you!

We, the undersigned, call on Burlington City Council to hear our petition and provide a time for a public town hall to discuss this topic.
