The suicide crisis line on the Depression and Anxiety Group in South Africa is not a 24 hour Line
I know it doesn't seem like something of top concern but this should be worrying more people
We do have a 24 hour counseling line, but the Anxiety and Depression Group is the most accessible and theirs is not available 24 hours
I'm not saying making it 24 hours would stop suicide, but it would help prevent some cases
Because while we might not hear about it imagine all the lives that are lost, because people felt alone
Because they didn't think there was anyone that would listen to them, it sounds bizarre, but it helps in some cases
It could save a life
Therefore this petition is being created to catch the attention of the health officials of our country
And to hopefully solve this issue
We all deserve to be heard
We all matter
Sign the petition and hopefully, we can start saving people, together; one signature at a time
We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Health and the Anxiety and Depression Group of South Africa to improve their suicide prevention programme and make it more accessible to everyone in the country and making the suicide crisis line on their website a 24 hour line with no trading hours. And to establish a specific hotline for suicide, not just a counseling lifeline
