Stripped of Your Rights? Regulate Lawyers properly

Title; STRIPPED OF YOUR RIGHTS

I would like to Petition the Prime Minister to give the House of Lords the control of Licences that allows Lawyers to Practice.

The Lords should be the place that controls the Licence to practice for Lawyers. A Committee should have the power to withdraw the Licence if the Legal Profession fails a Citizen because of their personal interest.

I think it is time that the Legal Profession is made more accountable. I know the Lawyers are relied on to be professional and honest, but this is not always the case, so I feel that the public should be protected by the Lords of the Country, and to hold the Legal wrong-doers to account.

The present system of complaints against Lawyers, sometimes does not give Justice to the Citizen it is “bewildering “(a quote from the Ombudsman) and is far too long in reaching any decision, and it is not open nor is it publicly accessible.

Solicitor's are Licensed and should abide by the rules of their profession, like doing their best for their client, if a Solicitor does not do this for personal reasons, the Licence should be revoked. The Solicitor is denying the citizen Justice.

A system should make the actions of Lawyers accountable to the public who pay them and rely on them. The Legal Profession is self-governing and self-regulating by the Legal Services Department but they are not allowed to give Legal advice. The Ombudsman checks that the procedure of complaints is adhered to; but the Ombudsman is not allowed to give Legal advice. This makes the system neither Fair nor Just, if a citizen is refused advice or is misled because of Solicitor`s personal reasons, the citizen has been denied a basic “Right of Representation”.

I think a Committee from the House of Lords made up of seven Members (not Lawyers) should hear cases from the Public, via their Member of Parliament, to look into cases of injustice that are caused by deliberate corrupt advice and have the power to act in the interest of Justice.
