The current coalition government are proposing cuts to child benefit where 1 or more family members pays a higher rate of income tax.

This cut is unfair where one person works hard to provide for their family whilst the other stays at home to look after the children. Families where both parents work can earn up to £44,000 each and will still be able to receive child benefit.

PM David Cameron has admitted it is unfair on families where one person works but said that it was 'too difficult' to have a system that is based on the joint income of the parents.

We, the undersigned, call for the current government to review the proposed child benefit cuts due to come into force in 2013 to ensure that it is fair to families where one person works to provide for their family.

Any cuts should be based on the combined earnings of the parents to ensure a fair benefit system to all households.
