Target:
City of Lockport, Illinois, Chevron Texaco, Canadian Northern Railroad
Region:
United States of America

Facts:

Chevron (formerly Texaco) located at 301 West Second Street Lockport Illinois has been in remediation for years and is now ready for development.

Opus North was hired to develop this property .

The first parcel ready for occupation is in the south end of the property near 2nd Street and they are considering a Transload Facility that would involve additional train cars unloading things like plastic pellets, lumber and paper rolls and 170 diesel trucks entering the facility 5 days a week. (Approximately 100 on the weekend)

We, the undersigned, request that the City of Lockport Illinois NOT extend an invitation to develop a Transload facility and to investigate CLEAN non polluting developments for the former Texaco (Now Chevron)facility located at 301 West 2nd Street Lockport, Illinois.

Since it is estimated that Phase 1 will involve 170 diesel trucks entering and exiting the facility 5 days per week, this actually equates to 340 truck trips per day and that would triple with Phase 2 and 3.

Diesel and train fumes, truck traffic, safety issues near Ludwig School, residents entering the West Side subdivision are issues. Anyone driving through the downtown area will be effected.
