Gaited horses are often "sored" in order to get them to lift their front legs higher called the "Big Lick." Caustic chemicals are rubbed into their front legs, shrink-wrapped in order to "bake" the chemicals into their legs overnight. They lay in their stalls moaning in agony. They are brutally beaten to make them get to their feet again.

The next day the wraps are removed and heavy chains are attached that bash into the sored part of their front legs causing them to snatch up their sore legs to help avoid the agony. They also are forced to wear "stacked shoes" which are 4 to 5 inches tall. Having them on their front hooves causes them to shift their weight from their front end to the rear, causing all kinds of stress and pain in their back end and rear legs. These shoes often have hard objects inserted that press directly on the tender frog. These are only a part of soring horses.

Please urge your state representative, in polite respectful words, to support the P.A.S.T. Act put forth for the legislature by Ted Yo.

If this bill is made law, it will take away the stacked shoes and chains so soring these horses will no longer be possible.

Thank you.
