For years Vegas Hot has functioned under a tipping policy. No other yoga studio does this. They say they function on the "honor" system for the tipping but that implies that it is mandatory and on their website it clearly states it is voluntary.
What has become clear is that this tipping structure is how their teachers get paid. Even though most classes are filled to the brim, somehow they seem to think it is not their responsibility to pay their teachers well. They expect their customers to take up the slack of their puny wages.
Now, they want to increase their rate, effective immediately! They somehow seem to think they can just require us to pay a new fee so that they can pay their teachers more. I would have happily agreed to a higher rate at the beginning because I support a living wage, but not after we have already signed a contract. The deal has been made and Vegas Hot! must live up to their end of the bargain.
We, your customers, have each signed a contract with you for a specific dollar amount for a specific time period, depending on each individual's contract. At the time of signing said contract and still presently on your website as of this writing (1st of Oct 2015 at 10:00 am), tipping is voluntary and not mandatory. Now, with your new mandatory service fee of $1.99 per class, you are in breach of contract.
This makes it very clear that you are not paying your instructors a living wage, even though most of your classes are regularly packed to the brim.
We, the undersigned, call on Dr King Rollins to retract this new service fee and pay your teachers a living wage based off the membership prices we originally agreed.
Your only other recourse would be to refund us the remainder of our contract. If you fail to do either of these, then we will be forced to file a class action suit.
